GoodLife Jerk Centre in Croydon

I was raving to the owner about the mac &, cheese, it was so delicious😋 it's so cheesy, soft and creamy! The festival is lovely too, it's not too sweet, it's just right and has a great blend of nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar! Their jerk chicken and peppered steak are both full of flavour, it's well cooked and juicy, you can't go wrong!! 10/10 customer service and food, they make you feel right at home🥂

Started coming about 2 months ago get curry goat at least once a week

Food is good and portion is good but when ordering you have the option with salad but no salad is delivered

I have not received my food order. It says it's delivered but i'm still waiting

My order never arrived again. that's twice in one day £50+ spent and still no food. Are the riders just getting a free lunch. Poor service.

Great food and large portion sizes

Slowest service, advertising things that are not on the menu then got my order wrong. Left hungry and empty handed would NOT recommend

Orderd from here I’m very funny with food and 9/10 I complain however this shop really surprised me the homemade chicken soup was divine I’ve never had anything as good as that before I will be ordering again tonight The curry goat was so nice and soft the rice was perfect 😍 10/10

Just got a take of jerk chicken and cabbage however the jerk chicken had no flavor to it think they forgot to add any jerk seasoning. Very disappointed

Ordered the salad 🥗 with the Curry Goat Rice but that wasn't delivered.

Ordered large jerk chicken. Which contained of a drumstick and 3 wings! It literally felt like I was given left overs. Zero jerk sauce on the rice and chicken. Definitely won't be seeing me again.

Can’t believe that’s brown stew chicken. No sauce. More bone than chicken. No salad which was ordered. Rice broken - so bad I threw it straight in the bin! Appalling! If you want a stewed chicken DO NOT GO HERE!

Ordered on deliveroo the Food was really nice would love a boneless option for the curried goat the flavours were great and meat very tender i also purchased macaroni and cheese and that was very delicious, would recommend this restraunt

Lovely taste but curry goat didn't really tast like curry goat. Salad for two meals missing from order. Liked the soup bowl and soup but needed to reheat soup on arrival even though only 5 minutes from restaurant. Otherwise 4 stars😋

Good jerk chicken spot. Ordered large jerk chicken and rice n peas and wife had a small.rixe with vegetable patty and it was really good. Chicken was dripping off the bone and full of flavour. Was proper filling and a deligh to eat. If I was ever back in South Croydon again... would be my regular haunt.

The portion size for a larger was smaller than expected but it was nice nonetheless …I did order side salad and haven’t seen it unless it’s at the bottom of the container. No complaints otherwise

Very disappointing. I’ve had alright meals from here before but today was a complete miss. Really bland overcooked chicken and pork. Totally lacking seasoning and the mediocre “jerk sauce” that the rice swims in did nothing to mask that fact. Won’t be gambling here anymore

If you don’t eat here your missing out honestly the food is so good and the service is amazing.

Never got my food! Called the restaurant after my order was delivered with but got no items "the driver just left" it's been over 1 hour and the restaurant is near me. Driver is probably enjoying my dinner. The restaurant is 5 min away from me

Ordered the goat curry and loved it.

Went in on the 25/08 for small jerk pork and festival. Went back to work and opened the container, pork was horrible, no colour on the meat it had no taste whatsoever. Appears to have been boiled in a pot, as it was overcooked. The festival had oil dripping from it, seems as if it fried from overnight and put in the microwave. The worst jerk pork and festival I have eaten. I have had their jerk pork and festival before and it was really good. Maybe the chef has left or something, but this was definitely no good.

My daughter brought back home jerk chicken pie mash and veg, my stomach upset had to eat raw ginger and hot water then lay down

Everything except the food is great. Ordered a fried fish with plain white rice. The fish or gravy that the waitress added was excessively salty, I had to add sweet chilli sauce to make it edible.. and I still ended up throwing it away. Good customer service, designed beautifully.. but you need a new chef.

I stopped in to get take-away after my daughter and I had a hard day, craving some home-cooked, comfort food. The service was excellent - friendly, happy, and nothing was too much trouble. It had a relaxed but professional family vibe. I noticed how everyone working was wearing hair nets, and the place looked clean. I ordered a whole heap of food - jerk bbq wings, pepper steak, both with rice and peas, mac & cheese, festivals and dumplings (oh yes - it was that kinda day!), and coleslaw. All of the meat was well seasoned and tender. Good sized wings, seasoned well underneath a good bbq sauce. None of the steak was fatty, fell apart under the fork. Rice and peas perfectly seasoned and cooked. Mac & cheese was a good comfort side. Coleslaw was a good balance. Festivals were just the right amount of sweet, and dumplings had risen just the right amount. Neither were too greasy. Portions were generous, especially considering the quality of the food and the reasonable price. To top it off they have frozen slushies - we had tropical, which was something we'd never usually have but it was a long hot day and they went down good! They're doing good things here

This was the best jerk pork I’ve ever had cant recommend highly enough melted in my mouth was lovely also had the jerk chicken was incredible to but the jerk pork was out of this world trust me get yourself to the JERK LIFE CENTRE

Giving it 1 cos I've had a few good meals here but I just got home and opened my box to find I bought a £10 rice box with bones....check your meal before you leave... Definitely gonna be a 2nd thought when Delly's is just 10 mins extra journey for much better consistent quality and servings....so disappointed I had to write a review Edit: 2 bites in and I wish I never for real. I'm just mad I wasted my money on this dead food. The rice and peas is drrrrrrrry. £10 box of rice and the rice is bad...bare in mind I bought a large oxtail meal so yeah definitely last time for me.

The food here is great. I ordered a Curry Goat, Mac and Cheese and Festivals and they were all spot on. The Curry Goat was flavoursome and good the quality of meat. Their Mac and Cheese was tasty, hot and it was generous with the cheese. The Festival's arrived hot, smelled and tasted very good. All portion sizes are generous! The delivery time was super quick! It was no more than 30 minutes, maybe less.

Food is good but service is TERRIBLE!!!! Was a loyal customer but the white girl that works there thinks it her shop and thinks she can talk to customers anyhow!! Just don't use them there are so many better Caribbean food places in croydon!! Don't even bother using there loyalty card you wont be able to claim any of the free items even after spending £90 just to be able to collect them. Stay clear!!!!

We are from out of town and was looking for good Jamaican food. So glad we came here.Jerk chicken and jerk pork was delicious!!! Rice and peas also cooked well. Service prompt and was welcomed by a friendly lady. Will come back here when back in london.

I ordered from here couple of days ago and totally forgot to give my review! I would give more than 5 star if it was available because after trying out so many Jamaican cuisine shops this is the only shop that satisfied my craving. Honestly, will order from here again.

Normally I travel to heath for jerk, I couldn't be bothered to go that far so thought would try here.. so glad I was being lazy cause I will never be going back to heath the food is amazing, there was a nice amount of chicken, the coleslaw was sweet it was nicest I have tried and love their festivals definitely recommended and will be sticking with this shop now. The staff was friendly and the price was good for the quality and amount you get.

I'm a regular customer here now and the food here is delicious and wait times are not too bad. The first question you should have on arrival should always be "what do you have?" As with many Jamaicam restaurants not everything on the menu is always available.. however I swear by any of the foods they do have available. Delicious, nutritious and well made. I'd always suggest adding a serving of festivals to the meal as these are very delicious (I believe they put in vanilla extract). As someone who grew up in Jamaica, I cam say this restaurant did not disappoint. I love their seleceltion of music while you wait on your meal and although the restaurant is not massive there are a few options for seating which you could easily bring your partner in for a quick sit down and dine in. Overall lovely experience and I will continue to return.

I felt like someone played a joke on me. Such good reviews, I was expecting more. I was craving some good home cooked Jamaican soup so went to Good Life for the first time to order some chicken soup to take away. Always treated myself to a couple of festivals. The in-house experience was good. The guys behind the counter and in the kitchen were all good. They ended up giving me the soup someone else had ordered and not turned up for (I was skeptical as didn’t want any stale, gone cold, leftover soup) but the guy behind the counter reassured me it had only been there for a couple of minutes. Got home, really excited about my food but got festivals that were crazy oily and so rock hard I couldn’t even finish eating them and soup that had hardly any food in. Not one dumpling! Where were my potatoes? Yam? I was soooo disappointed but it was too late to do anything about it. I’m new to the area, and was hoping I’d found my new local Jamaican spot for some good home cooked food but unfortunately, this was such a disappointing experience that the search continues :(

The food was tastier than some of the other Jamaican/Caribbean restaurants in Croydon. With the exception of hard food, you can most Jamaican food there. On the evening we went, most items on the menu were unavailable- this may have been due to the fact we went about two hours before the closure of the restaurant; the young man who served did say that day was extremely busy, which contributed to running out of food - this is something they will have to work on dealing with. There is an area for dining, but just enough for a few people, so be aware if you have more than eight of you eating. I would definitely recommend you trying if them out.

First time trying Good Life Centre. I Got large curry Goat and large Peppered steak rice and peas and both were bang on 100% best Caribbean food in Croydon i dont think i will go anywhere else now. Thank you food was Amazing.

Not the best caribbean I've had to be honest. The customer service is great. I just found too much salt and too much rice compared to protein in the meal.

My partner bought me ackee for £6 and it was absolutely dreadful. The meal was dry, the rice and peas had hardly any kidney beans. The ackee had peppers and onions missing. Overall the dish was disappointing and please improve this dish.

If I could give 0 stars I would. These people are very impolite, they got mine and my partners order wrong then tried to blame it on us even called me rude for being upset. If I had sworn or cussed her out I could understand, at that point I just wanted a refund for the inconvenience and the attitude. I have severe anxiety which I take a high dose of citlopram for, I don’t like confrontation so I handed the phone over to my partner for him to rectify the situation but the woman on the other end was so sarcastic and disrespectful it gave me a panic attack. in the end I told her we’ll go directly through Ubereats, I’d already sent them a message with pictures for evidence and I recorded the full conversation with the horrible manager for good measure. Will NOT be back, we didn’t even bother eating what was delivered, took one bite of the oily ackee and had enough.

The curry goat and mixed jerk was one of the tastiest I've had. Passing through for work and this little place did not disappoint. Perfect spice and full of flavour. Very decent portion and fair price for what you get.

I've been going from the day it opened. Great food in the past, however standards have dropped significantly. Today I really fancied a treat, chicken and pork dish - Hard, burnt, salty. Such a shame but unfortunately last time for me. Very disappointed..

Food is good, don't like the fact you have to eat out of a takeaway box when eating in.

Always running out of food. Always cancelling orders because they have run out food without notifying us. It’s happened on a few occasions - with us having to call to find out the food is cancelled. They need to sort out their internal processes and systems, as they seem confused when asked why it keeps happening. Was very happy when they opened-up, but I’m seeing a dip in the quality and efficiency of their service as they try to keep up with orders. Try not to lose customers in the process. The food is good, but I’m starting to struggle with the service.

Honestly very disappointed. I've had great food from here in the past but recently my orders have been wrong and the quality awful. Ordered stew chicken got hard jerk. Overcooked so the meat was stiff. Also the plantain was rock-hard. Absolutely shocking!!

Had our first visit to this venue for a takeaway last night. The oxtail with rice n peas was soooo good. We went to bed full and woke up full! The rum cake needs a bit more rum for my mum but overall we enjoyed our first visit. We will be back again soon.

It can be hit and miss when you try a place: I tried this place for the first time, for me it was a little disappointing as food arrived very luke warm and although not bad, tasted like left overs from a day ago or something. Been coming here twice a week for years. Fish on Wednesday and Oxtail Friday. Just amazing authentic food. Thee best yard food shop I've experienced. Consistent quality, great prices and good customer service. I would happily invest in another Good Life closer to where I live.

Good food, on portion sizes not sure. The large portion is what I would call a regular in some other places I have tried .

I ordered for the 1st time using ubereats. The jerk chicken was black and very burnt making it almost inedible, and the fish also was very dry and not fresh at all, no coleslaw served. The plantain was also very dry and undercooked, it wasn't ripe enough. The sauce/gravy poured over however was very tasty. I hate leaving bad reviews but I have to be honest as when dealing with food I think its important. I feel like I have wasted my money and unfortunately wouldn't order again. Sorry.

Very disappointed with Good Life on this occasion. The flavours in the meat were all there and fantastic. However, rice tasted like last nights lukewarm leftovers. My large curry goat meal was 95% bone! Not to mention the fact that what arrived seemed to be a small serving of meat (perhaps the last dregs in the pot bottom) with a double portion of rice- this is not good enough, especially as a large meal is £2 extra!! If there isn’t enough left it should be taken off the menu! Extremely poor value for money and a very dissatisfying meal.

The right amount of seasoning, spice level and portion. Many places in Croydon do Jerk chicken/pork but miss the mark with consistency and texture but the deliver one of the best in the area. The Callaloo stew was exceptional and would like to see more Vegan mains in carribean cuisine as a whole.

Very authentic taste and customer service is excellent and the surrounding is very clean Good life jerk Centre dont service us overnight food as their food runs out so fast, I have to place my order for pick up and asked the friendly staff to put it down for me and tell them the time I will collect it. I do so bast on my experience of going there at 20:00 and no food so please let's be truthful in our review give to them the ratings they deserve.

Not sure if they had a change in chef or new owners or something but we ordered from here over a year ago it was horrid. I just re tried them and OMG the curry Goat was spot on. Rice and peas also was hot and fluffy. Well done on turning a 1* review into a 5*

Jerk chicken rice & peas nice but plantain not cooked fresh & rubbery/hard.. Plantain takes minutes to cook.. Meat can be tasty but mostly fat (Jerk Pork)

Meat was great in quality and quantity

I was having a bad craving for Oxtail so I decided to ring and check what their Chef's special was as I didn't fancy waiting two weeks for the Dutchie to bring my food. To my delight Oxtail was the special and the food arrived within 15minutes!!! Okay, they are in fact my local, BUT the telephone service was polite and I asked for pepper sauce to be added to the side and it was. Now, let me tell you about the Oxtail, it was sweet, spicy, garlicky, peppery and soooo good that I even cracked and chewed down the bone! Something, I used to tell my Mother that I would never do.....I will definitely be ordering here again.

I've been coming here -weekly for about 2 years. Weekly ya nah!!! Good Life JC cook amazing food at fantastic prices. The food service is quick and polite and the food is consistent in its quality. I eat EVERYTHING they have from the pork to the wings. Only niggle would be that the coleslaw portion sizeisize too small but you can always buy another as there only 50p!!! Good people good food.....

Super friendly lady behind the counter. Quick service. Large portions. Reasonably priced. Tasty as hell. As a caviat to this, I had a strange experience when I phoned up for a takeaway. The lady told me that I should hang up and use JustEat to order, which I did immediately, however every item I tried to select was 'sold out'. Confused, I called them back, the same lady answered the phone and confirmed they had run out of food. I'm not sure why she wasted my time.

Best jamaican restauran in town, full of flavours from the curry chicken to the pork to the curry goat. Just been back after the lockdown and still taste as good. 10/10
