Poptata in Croydon

Personally I think they need to ease up on the sauce. Too much of it literally overtaking & swamping the fries. I prefer Donna Carmen Mexican Fries, perfect balance of fries, sauce, cheese and beef topping.

Great chips super fast and excwlent service!

This review is for my experience of this business at the festival All Points East. Probably the worst fries I've ever eaten. They were tasteless, and lukewarm, twice, as I had to return the first portion. The garlic mayo tasted of nothing, the chili mayo tasted of nothing and they had the cheek to charge £6.95 for a cone of warm, tasteless rubbish. It took two members of staff to shovel chips into a cone as well 🤣🤣. Such a joke. At least Stormzy wasn't lukewarm and tasteless.

Met a genuinely homeless troubled person after being asked to leave boxpark by manager and bought them a meal from here they absolutely loved it staff there today at 18:25 on the12/06/23were helpful and understanding

I asked if they were made to order and the guy said yes but sadly they were not, I was served the fries which were left over from the previously order hence they were barely hot and not the freshly fried ones. I am so glad, I did not waste money on extras like cheese which would not have melted. The basic fries were not quite plain because they were tossed with Rosemary which was not something I was expecting and there was a fair bit of salt in it too. Overall, I felt that I did not experience their fries at their best which I believe would have been really nice.

Poptata in Croydon is hands down the best chips shop in the area! The chips are always fresh and made to order, which is a real treat in the East Croydon area. The prices are very reasonable, and the variety of flavors available is great. They use high-quality ingredients and the potatoes are hand-cut, which is evident in the taste and texture of the chips. The shop itself is clean and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend Poptata for anyone looking for delicious chips at a great price! 5 stars!

I never ever leave reviews but on this occasion I really had to the chips and chicken burger were amazing the last place I had chips that were that good and not flavoured with loads of salt was at Gordon Ramsey street burger

I feel like everyone needs to know that they changed their chicken strips. The chicken before banged. The new ones taste soggy and the batter is like the batter you get on breaded fish. Rank, soggy and disappointing. Also don’t get the miss chicken. ‘Spicy’….it’s bland and I’ve never had chicken so tasteless? . My partner is loving his tex pulled pork fries tho! I tried some of the pork and that’s the only reason I’ll give 2 stars. Let me down, I used to to love this place. BRING BACK THE OLD CHICKEN STRIPS PLEASE

Nothing wrong or special about this cheesy chips. Can't complain. I'm disappointed as I'm charged £2 for a small container of sweet chilli sauce, which I thought, supposed to be free with the chips! Proper rip off!

To spend close to £10 for an admittedly large but overwhelmingly salty pile of chips, mayo, cheese and pulled chicken, is not really the food experience I was looking for. Over a decade working in the food industry and I've never had such an inedible mess presented to me. Mountains of salt, and an unbelievable amount of sauce for what is essentially cheesy chips with a bit of chicken. Struggled to eat even a 1/3 of it and I'm looking at the remainder of it now to ensure that the image of it is so burned into my memory that I never return to purchase another one. To serve food with this little care for attention when charging these prices should be a crime

Tryed to buy 2 cans of coke as I was working across the road and they tried charging me double cus u wasn't buying any chips place is a rip off (Edit) as of owner relpy: funny then how I'd previously bought cans of coke (only) on two occasions before and the £1 price with no problem... Seem like you just enjoy opportunisticly like to try conning people

This business took my money and then arrived my order through deliveroo without actually delivering any food👍Waste of my money, time and energy. At least have the decency to call and let the customer know that you will not be delivering their order. Disappointing, most defiantly will not be ordering from here again and this is your warning not to order. Their hygiene is level 2. Shocking

Had an order of portobello fries and it was amazing! Fries stayed crispy even drenched in sauce.

This was all the food I had to throw away because it was so cold and it was making my partner and I nauseous. Haven’t had such bad food in so long. I waited over an hour and half for the food and most of the time it was sitting at the restaurant. That’s why the chips were so congealed and soggy when it finally arrived. We had to have to have some of the food because we were so hungry, but it was was worst £46 I spent. I couldn’t even call the restaurant to cancel/ chase because they don’t have a telephone number. The whole experience was awful. It was the first (and last) I will be ordering from here, would recommend just going to Burger King - both cheaper and better quality.

Is so bad I payd 2 times for 2 frise and 3 piece of chiken wich is 17,95 times 2 which is 35,9 £ and after said his got it the money only one time So no give me back nothing It is realy bad place and dirty is well

Wow one of the best loaded chips I've tried in London. Ordered the Guaca fries and they were perfect - spicy mayo, avo and halloumi rosemary salted chips. Portion size was massive so shared between the 3 of us and was super filling. My sister really enjoyed the southern fried chicken burger and thought it was very tasty

Highly recommend ordering the '3 Southern Fried Chicken Strips' and a choice of dips. Cowboy fries with BBQ sauce, literally say no more. Don’t you hate when you pay for something so expensive come home and few iteams missing. I’m talking about my sauce I ordered £17 plus food I didn’t enjoy my food without the sauce. Staff where not helpful when I was ordering. I want my money back tbh

I tried one vegan and one classic. It was really good portion and very very tasty.

Too much garlic mayo and they dont offer ketchup. Im quite outraged by it. And the meat is unseasoned and tasteless. If you have good taste buds I don’t recommend you come here just go mcdonalds or something.

Used to go here alot, but won't be going back as they have reduced Portion sizes but increased price

They have lots of delicious orders but I always like to go with the classics (with a twist). In this case it was this photogenic pink sauce which was garlicy, a bit on the heavy side Portion is plentiful. One in the picture was small. My guess would be, a medium/large is good for two people to share as a premeal snack

La migliore patatina streetfood di Londra e probabilmente una delle migliori in Europa: sono cosi buone che sono riuscito a mangiarne tante senza sentirmi appesantito ,nonostante si tratta di fritti alla fine... alla base di questo mi sono reso conto che è basicamente la qualità dell olio usato che è l Inconfondibile sapore dell olio di semi di girasole che frigge in maniera gentile la patata senza aggredirne la fibra esterna e non lasciando invece quell odore acre tipico di altri oli per friggere economici che vengono usati spesso anche in ristoranti costosi e slow food.. Le patate fresche di campo lavate pulite e tagliate al momento con pressa a mano , e che nonostante siano fritte al momento vengono servite calde nei tempi giusti (senza essere bollenti nel momento in cui ti vengono offerte!) e pronte per essere stuzzicate con voracità .. Sensata e appagante sopratutto per me che sono italiano la scelta di un mix di erbe mediterranee triturate per esaltarne il gusto + l aroma e il Risultato è = ad un grande sapore finale della patata come se fosse stata concepita in un ristorante, qui una cosa apparentemente semplice come la patata fritta diventa uno street food alchemico... Sui topping che dire: FANTASTICI... peccato che essendo segreta la ricetta homemade non potró riprodurle quando torno in italia e mi preparo patatine fritte a casa... mi mancheranno la lucifer e sopratutto l’arcana pink mayo ... sarà forse che come aglio usano la qualità rosa mediterranea invece del bianco 😋???! Una nota apparte di merito alla location che è al boxparc di croydon... una struttura fantastica con musica e un flusso di ragazzi e persone rilassate e sorridenti che si divertono e l atmosfera ti trasmette la stessa energia che c è nell aria.

Poptata is a great value for money and you can be sure that you won't walk away with a half empty stomach or feeling disappointed about the meal that you picked. The fries with cheese that I got were delicious and filling but I just cannot think of a reason to go back and have another bite: to my taste, it was a simple portion of fries and cheese with the sauce, crowning it.

food is amazing 👌 however i made a few journeys where you guys were closed at lunchtime. pretty much wasted my time. Be nice to update your hours so we know what times at lunch you guys aren't open.

Poptata is a delightful take on our usual fries. They serve multiple versions of potato fries with different sauces. The portions are good size and the taste serves all palates. My favourite is the Lucifer poptata (I am vegetarian). All in all, would highly recommend Poptata - you must go !!

Really big portion which is good value for money but too much sauce on the chips for me, got a little sickly after a while... Indian legendry chips with chedder cheese and curry mayo also got hallumi on top for £1 total £6

We purposely sought out Poptata after seeing reviews online. The fries are good and fresh but the toppings weren't as fantastic as I anticipated. It was fun to try but not a must eat for foodies.

I had a great time eating spicy chips and drinking a can of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar at Poptata Croydon which was three days ago now on Wednesday 19th June from 3:44-3:46pm.

Just had the Portabello chips from there that were delicious! Served by a young gentleman who told us about all the other branches and gave us a loyalty card! Service with a lovely smile! Great chips great service!

The halloumi fries are an indulgent delight. Crispy, chewy, flavoursome and oh so naughty. Other potato fries are available! The menu blurb says 6 fries but I counted 8. Smothered in the portobello sauce (cheese, caramelised onion and mustard) they are irresistible. You should probably have them as an accompaniment to something else from boxpark - best go with lots of veg or salad. Equally delish on their own!

chips are perfectly cooked every time & the service is always great. lucifer fries were my favourite but when i go back i’ll be trying the vegan options.

Good chips. Could be cut thicker. Also could have a variety like sweet potato fries. Have a loyalty card. Worth a try.

Popped here with pals on a stag lunch . I'm sure if they were fresh they would have been lovely as sauces were amazing but the chips were rock hard. Re fried tomany times. Threw away in bin. Very disappointed

I love Potatoes in every shape and form but Poptata tastes even better than I thought. I had a portation with Barbecue sauce and I absolutely fantastic. I will definitely go back there for more.

I lived in Belgium as a child so I know a good chip when I see one.

Having heard many good things about this place I decided to give it a go. The price is quite steep when you think that you're only really getting chips but I was willing to be swayed by the quality and taste.

As a part of short visit to the Boxpark, we stopped by Poptata booth to have a quick snack. Admittedly, my mood was the worst at that point, so I was not even eager to eat, but I have to admit that seeing the yummy fries made me much happier!

I love this place. The Parmesan chips with pink mayo are sooooo good. The small portion is really big and enough to share.

Dando un paseo por el mercado de Portobello nos llamó la atención un puesto dedicado exclusivamente a papas fritas que se servían en un cono de papel. Aunque se equivocaron con la salsa y me pusieron justamente la que yo no quería (la picante frente a la dulce), pese a ello, las papas estaban increíblemente ricas tanto por su espectacular sabor como por lo crujiente y buena cocción. Los chicos preparan cada pedido con mucha soltura y rapidez.

I adore good chips, but these tasted nowhere near as good as the ones made at home. Admittedly, they were quite cold by the time they reached me, but, even allowing for that, I don't think they would have been great chips. Apart from the fact that there was none of that delicious fluffiness, great chips need no other topping than a dash of salt and a sprinkle of vinegar.

It's stunning how few quality ingredients and spectacular recipes can make so much difference compared to the others!

I visit this place very often as I live in Clapham and it takes me only 10 min to go. Great buzz, polite staff and unique simple food. Best chips ever!!!

Poptata offers outstanding chips with an incredible selection of different dips. Everything is made fresh to order. Unique space in an shipping container next to the station. It's definitely a place I plan to visit again.

Huge portion of chips. Absolutely delicious. Great flavoured toppings. You can also get beers to go with your chips. It's in a quiet position in the box park but we'll worth a visit.
