I am VERY unsatisfied with the food I received on Saturday 31st August 2024 @ 8:50pm and I will explain why below; Oxtail - the oxtail itself was VERY salty and not enough come in the portion (only 5 pieces & only 1 of them had meat because the rest was gravy and gelatine). In fact, the only nice thing about this dish was the gravy, which there was far too much of. Boneless Jerk Chicken - portion size very small, chicken itself was DRY & far too much gravy Rice n peas - both portions SMALL, (idk when dutchie changed their size containers) and not to mention, some of the rice was stuck together and tough which almost broke my teeth (so you know they scraped the bottom of the pot just to get this) Plantain - Alright, portion size SMALL! And when did the rice and peas stop coming with 2 extra plaintain's in there? Festiballs - Overcooked and tough This was the most disappointing order, especially with the money you're spending, I expect to get my money's worth. Worst Saturday takeaway. It's so disappointing writing this because in 2019 when they first opened, the food was really good but the service was rubbish (waiting time was 2hrs for food; at the table, and that was in an empty restaurant) but now, 5yrs later, they must think they're better than they actually are because idk what they're giving people, especially for their delivery services. I give it 0 stars.

I've been here and ordered takeaway here several times. The foods amazing but the service is hit and miss. Today I pre-ordered a takeaway on Uber eats because I'd knew it be busy because of carnival. I preorded at 4 for 2015 and they accepted . When it was 1945 they cancelled while the order was in progress. Bit annoyed as I obviously ordered for a alot people who were coming round . If you can't fulfill it let me know earlier. Next time I'll make sure to call.

DON'T COME HERE. NOT WORTH IT. GAVE ME FOOD POISONING! I went a few days ago, and ordered the curry chicken roti and mac and cheese. The curry was not good and very bony (hard to eat), the mac and cheese was dry and bland. The only good thing was the pineapple juice and plantain. The meal gave me food poisoning and made me ill throughout the whole night and the next day. I called them about this and they didn't apologise or offer any type of compensation! Unacceptable and terrible customer service. :(

This place is seriously terrible. Ordered some food and drinks via Deliveroo, 6 items all together and 3 items were missing (they never seem to have peanut punches in stock but made it available to order on this occasion). I called the restaurant to enquire about the missing items, they stated that they had already informed Deliveroo that they could not fulfill them. Upon contacting Deliveroo, they stated this wasn’t the case and would not offer me a refund. Deliveroo contacted the restaurant to corroborate my missing items, the restaurant stated that I’d lied about one of the missing items, when I definitely did not receive it. Never ever ordering from there again.

The food is nice but DO NOT GET DELIVERIES from here twice now a driver did not turn up and waited hours and had to collect it myself, asked for a manager to get a refund on the delivery fee I paid and yet no one has called back or returned my money. Good food but poor service when it comes to deliveries go and get it your self it be quicker

Never AGAIN! I have dined here twice, service just about ok, My partner and I usually order takeout... We call as we are driving home and pick our food up on route. We were turned off this place a few years back due to the service and then recently thought lets give it another try... They were doing well as we would order from them at least twice per month sometime once per week! Anyhow, I will not EVER be going back there. Ordered food on my way home this evening and when I got home, it was the wrong order. Called them up straight away, and told them I received the wrong food. The lady was un apologetic and asked if I was coming back which I did. I told her, before I left home, can you prepare the right order for me so I can just go when I come. For some reason, she said she could not do this until she sees the food I was given? We get back to the restuarant and they put our order back in the cue, to be prepared, so we had to wait another 15mins once we arrived back at the restuarant, by now it was over an hour and still did not have the our food. Once we got our food, we still did not received and apology... Very very poor service...

Average food, not worth the price.

Placed a late night order of jerk chicken rice and sauce…. Got 4 bits of ‘ chicken ‘… all bone zero meat, zero spice level to what jerk chicken should be. Bland and basic, believe the reviews !! Won’t be ordering again

I came here as a treat for a friend but I won't recommend! The staffs attitude was horrendous, especially the guy that was serving us. When asking for something, it seemed we were bothering him. He just gave us the bill without as asking for it; as if to say we were taking long... We asked for tap water at the end of our meal to what the young lady working there said she couldn't provide as "the bar was closed". Never in my life have I heard the bar needs to be open to use a tap. I assume they stop asking their hands then?! It was bad service overall and the food wasn't all that.

Never got my plaintain, cabbage or festiballs with my bax meal, kinda shoulda known to check it before I left because the person handing over the bags attitude was kinda off & I know how dem tings go when it comes to.. my people. Shame

Ordered prawn curry with potatoes and butter beans along with white rice. Received curry potato with mostly butter beans and 3 small pieces of prawn.

I ordered 2 portions of jerk chicken mac and cheese and 2 tropical vibes sorrel and ginger juice. I received the 2 portions of jerk chicken which was very dry and full or sauce with I didn't requested. The juices were paid for but didn't arrive. The mac and cheese looked as if someone had eaten some of it, it came half empty. I will not order from this restaurant again.

I ordered a take away on the phone and how disappointing as I have ate here on a couple of occasions. They didn't have the boneless curry goat so I opted for boned curry goat. On arrival home I was upset with the contents and called to complain. I was told no manager was available. Do not waste your time coming here! The customer service is appalling. We were not greeted when we arrived and had to wait 5 minutes before we were seated, despite there being plenty of empty tables. Once seated, we didn’t receive the menu for another 10 minutes and had to ask for it. We were never offered anything not water, drinks or even someone asking if we need any help with the menu. We then waited another 10 minutes before realising that no one was coming to take our order. We had to ask a waiter if we could place our order, to which she responded that someone would be with us soon. After waiting another 5 minutes, someone finally came. As we began to place our order, we were rudely interrupted by his colleague, and then the waiter simply walked away and never returned. At this point, we were ready to leave, but the final straw was when the waiter who had started taking our order returned with mac and cheese for another table that had arrived much later than us. It’s understandable that slow service can occur when a restaurant is busy, but there were only 4 tables occupied, and it was clear that 3 of them had already finished eating and were just drinking. Don’t believe the TikTok hype!

Considering food is so expensive, taste and quantity very poor. Received 5 pieces of curry meat, which were mostly bone and a severe amount of gravy. Taste wasn't up to curry goat standard either. They were almost closing, so must have received end of pot rubbish. Not good enough esp when they charge so much. We received discount from uber, otherwise would've paid over £30 for bone and 4 wings! Wont be buying from them again.

Birthday Booking @6pm 08.06.2024 Im afraid this establishment has fallen well off of the top 10 eateries to dine at Atmosphere:0 On arriving the Atmosphere was not very welcoming the hostess had zero customer service skills what so ever and I mean no customer service skills Service:0 Absolutely diabolical we had to endure a hostess with zero customer service skills all evening there was alot of back and forth that really wasnt necessary noone was seated on time and bare in mind we arrived at different times admittedly but still found that quiet bizzarre as the restaurant wasnt busy but ok we were served nothing but attitude and resistance from our hostess at one point she told us that once food was being prepared she was bringing it all out and any other guest who hadnt arrived would have to eat the food cold because she wasnt going to warm the food my question is why on earth would you bring out a guests food if they hadnt arrived and then expect them to eat it cold would you not wait for said guest to arrive before preparing said meal we wanted to order cocktails and juices they were literally held until the hostess wanted to serve them to us it was all weird the food was oddly brought out at different times even though some orders were duplicate orders Food:1 Either underseasoned or overseasoned Sweet Chilli Wings were nice Festiballs were nice the cocktails are nice Experience as a whole:0 plus a few dodgy stomachs!!! At least 3 I know of the guest who was having issues getting down had to turn back on the motorway to go home but her food was still prepared and left on the table and on the bill the deposit placed was almost held captive but we managed to leave with it in the end I don't know if dutchies is under new managmentif it is it needs to give itsself a new name because you definitely do not get the dutchie experience

Ordered as a takeaway. Was terrible, the sauce had a layer of pure oil on the top, got about 4 pieces of meat and 7 potatoes. Couldn’t believe it. Tiny portion of rice as well. Way too expensive for what you get. Do not order from here

Took my sister to this restaurant. It was her first time, I’ve been there before and I always thought that food was yummy which is why I took my sister. This time 19th May 2024 the food was terrible and the service was awful. Look like they only have two staff. The chef and the waiter.

Went to this restaurant last night for the first time and I was very disappointed. The service was beyond awful, they took almost 20 min to take our order despite there was only 2 other sitting customers. Then when we finally got our food, after about 10/15 min I had to go and look for the staff to get our drinks. The food was ok but the oxtail was very salt. This place can be so much better if the staff was a bit more friendly and attentive to the customers.

The oxtail had too much salt in it, I had to water the sauce down therefore losing a lot of the flavor in order to eat it. For the cost of the meal does not match the small amount of food I got. I had 4 small pieces of oxtail, the small rice container was barely full.

This is a poor representation of Jamaican food. I am appalled by the food I have received today. The potion is small, where is the fish in the callaloo? The meal has no seasoning, and the rice is bland. You have to season the white rice! Fried plantain was burnt. I’m very disappointed. Tasteless!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. I used to religiously order from Dutchies between 2020-2022. Never had any complaints. As of recent I’ve heard reviews from friends and family so I was on the fence about ordering from there again. Today I made the mistake of giving Dutchies the benefit of doubt. I ordered oxtail & rice and peas, boneless jerk chicken & rice and peas - BIG MISTAKE. How can a restaurant INCREASE their prices and REDUCE the portion size. They used to provide plantain and coleslaw with the meals you ordered and apparently that’s no longer a thing. But what really made me chuckle was that they gave me 3 SMALL pieces of oxtail and a load of gravy… I paid £15.95 for 3 small pieces of oxtail, a load of gravy and runner beans and rice and peas and guess what? It didn’t even taste like Caribbean oxtail. It was as though they just poured some manufactured sauce into the mix. The jerk chicken tasted dry and old and they gave 4 strips of chicken. Considering I spend near enough £40 on 2 meals I would’ve expected more. I mean, with that money I could’ve bought the ingredients and made it myself. Oxtail is like £9 per kg these days and they had the audacity to rip me off and give me 3 tiny pieces????? Dutchies USED to be a delicious, reliable and authentic Caribbean restaurant that would never let you down in terms of value for money and taste. But after today’s diabolical experience, it’s safe to say that Dutchies you will NEVER see me again. A truly disappointing experience and you’ve lost a valuable customer.

Service was so poor. They all looked angry, as if they were doing us a favour serving us. Food wasn’t that tasty and ambience not so pleasant. Wouldn’t recommend

Our family booked to have a meal at the Dutchie in Croydon. There were over 25 of us. Two family members arrived later and were served. The table where they sat wasn't cleared away for them to have their meals and while they ate their meals, the table was cleared. This was very poor customer service. The restaurant was partially empty and they should have checked that the table we sat to eat was cluttered with dirty glass, used plates and cutlery. I had to ask for clean cutlery and napkin. While the fish meal was very tasty , the bamy was over fried and hard.Customer service was average and needs improvement and training! Workers needs to take some pride in their appearance as they are the 'Ambassadors' to the Dutchie!! The Dutchie is not well sign posted and one could easily pass by without seeing it. I should hope that the management will make the time to read the reviews when they are posted as Customer service is at the heart of every business! The customers have the choice to return again or been turned away ! A little background music does creates a lovely ambiance to eating in a restaurant!

never waited so long for my food, and it wasn't the couriers fault he was also waiting to collect the food, when the food came it wasn't worth the wait the chicken wasn't that great and the festival was very oily. never ordering from them again

Went to this establishment 2years ago. What I remember of the food it was good however never visited again because the customer service was terrible and staff wasn’t particularly helpful and did not seem to want/attempt to resolved any issues that they were presented with. Left saying the food was ok but the customer service was some of the worst that I have encountered. Fast forward 2years I’ve ordered online (on a Sunday which I never do because I usually cook)…. But the food I received was almost inedible. Goat was tasteless and rice and peas and was an amalgamation of mush and clump. Hope it’s because it’s Sunday and nobody including the chef wants to cook lol… don’t think I’ll be giving here a 3rd chance.

I ordered via UberEats. After waiting for 2 hours because my order kept getting delayed, I tried to contact the restaurant but no one cared to answer the phone. After getting ahold of the driver, the restaurant miraculously canceled my order. Don't waste your time with this place.

Just ordered curry goat. Very watery afew bits off meat but bulked out with potatoes the rice and peas wasn’t compressed in the container. Maximum 3 desert spoons and the bottle of tango warm. Look at photos. I really hope after heating this I’m not ill tmw. As you can see in the photos as soon as I saw my takeaway and tried to go on just eat no more orders so went online and said closed. Which leads me to believe it was the end of day scraps. Not worth £30 quid.

I ordered food at 5.30 and it got delivered at 8.30! Absolutely unacceptable! When food arrived it was cold and did not look nor taste good it was very greasy! I would like to be refunded for the inconvenience

I ordered on uber eats and I got a trash amount. For something that cost £18 I got about £6 worth. The containers wasn't even full, there was space in both the Jerk Pork and rice and peas containers. The jerk pork container was full of sauce and had hardly any pork in it. The rice and peas container was only half full. I bought a large and got a kids size meal. Never again. Trash

What a disappointment! We came for food and drinks this evening and what a shambles, we sat waiting for ages to even get acknowledged , we had to ask twice for someone to take our drink orders, it wasn't even busy, our sides, ie; rice and mac came and we had to wait about 15 minutes for our main dishes, which then came one at a time and very slowly, the hellshire prawns were over cooked to the point they were inedible mush, the white fish was so undercooked it was like jelly , rice was dry and share platters were soridiculously small. we just gave up and sent all the food back finished our drinks and left! Dutchie has been my favourite restaurant for years, but can't ignore the dismally poor quality and service we recieved today! We asked for the manager twice and nobody even bothered to come out, we were a party of 5 out for a celebration and it totally ruined the evening.

Ordered twice from this stupid restaurant and twice they given us someone elses food and didn't even try and resend our order out, hung up on me half way through the conversation and then didn't answer the phone when l called back. So that is two sets of customes with the wrong order. They can't even hand out the correct order to the driver twice they have done this now, dumb people working there and rude. So unhelpful so rude.

Dutchie was really good at the start but now their Jerk is too watered down and their plantine is like rubber. No softness at all. Delly’s tops them in their food at the moment. Their festivals and mac&cheese is good though. Sadly will not be ordering from them again.

Reserved a table for Valentine’s Day and when I arrived they said that they were full and didn’t know when the next table will be available. I continuously asked the staff but they avoided me. I would not recommend booking here especially on special occasions since they dont respect the booking system (despite seeing signs for reservations at reception). Doesn’t really make sense.

Where do I start The minute me and my friend walked in we got a strange and unfriendly vibe. We ordered our drinks and couldn’t get the ones we wanted as they didn’t have the ingredients, fair enough we got other drinks. We ordered our food, a main and a side. We got our main course and had to wait 10 min for our cutlery, started to get a bit annoyed as our food were getting cold now. The staff came back with a tin with 1 fork and 4 knives for two people. We didn’t say much as one of us ordered a burger, but would’ve liked a fork with the sides bits. We have nearly finished our main and our sides have not come out, we had to get someone attention and ask where is it. We again waited ten mins, another person came said it will be five mins, and we said we don’t want it as we’ve finished our main and really what is the point. We also asked to remove service charge as we believed there was no service what so ever. The staff were very rude, kissing their teeth and rolling their eyes after they heard us say this behind the bar which was very unprofessional working a hospitality service, we was shocked and very uncomfortable. And the owner shouted as we were leaving “don’t come back to my restaurant” . To summarise don’t go waste your time and money in this restaurant if you want to get shouted out and the food weren’t that great

From the second I walked into the bar I wasn't greeted by staff and had to wait to even be seen. Got to the table to order drinks to be told they had ran out of specific ingredients which I think especially for a Friday night is unnaceptable, when I then ordered my food I wasn't even supplied with cutlery. When asked I was given one fork and 3 knifes for 2 people after nearly 10 mins of my food arriving. 2 dishes I ordered (mac and cheese) were missing from the meal. I waited nearly 30 mins for my missing dishes to come and by the time they did I had already finished eating. Then told me it would be 5 mins wait for it and it didn't arrive until a shocking 15 mins later. I then told them to take it back as it was too late and the food was snatched out of my hand and the waiter took it while kissing his teeth and whispering about me to other stuff. All the staff were very blunt and I found to be very unwelcoming. From start to finish the whole experience was APPALING. When me and my friend left the restaurant the manager shouted at us while we walked up the stairs and shouted out... "don't come back to my restaurant ". I think staff need to learn some customer service skills and find their manners the next time they decide to open up/work in a restaurant. Definitely WILL NOT be coming back.

The ambiance is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the food is perfection.

You know what, the staff was really friendly and nice but something was missing.. But when we talk about the food...OMG, that was amazingly good....No issues at all... and whoever made my Virgin strawberry mojito.💋 it was lush, lush...I think i just found my new favourite restaurant for 2024....I'll be back 😋...again and again.

very small portions of meat for price!

Omg, what an experience. I went with 2 other friends. Myself and one friend had the worst diarrhoea for days! The only dish we had in common was the mac n cheese as my other friend was fine and he didnt have mac n cheese. I can only assume it was that and that the milk or cheese was gone off because I have never had diarrhoea like it 😭. My friend missed her friends baby shower and nieces 5th birthday last weekend and I had to cancel my weekend plans because what can you do if you are going to the toilet every 15-30 minutes for 3 days straight. I had been here before and loved it but this time was so disappointing and because of the pain, discomfort and inconvenience to ruining the weekend plans we wont be back unfortunately

Main meal was stone cold. I’d tracked the driver & he came straight to me so it must’ve been cold when the food left the restaurant. The festiballs were hard on the inside & outside, cold with no taste. I won’t be using them again.

Food arrives nearly 40 minutes after it’s supposed to. So bad. Are The Dutchie that busy on a Sunday late evening??

This was my 2nd visit to this store and they seem to have the issue I found on my 1st visit. Hot food served onto a cold plate just does not work, you get half way through your meal and it is cold. I group member ordered Ackee and saltfish but the amount that was served to him would have been embarrassing if you was serving this to a child but it was served to an adult. No fish!! No guinness punch! And when we requested to speak to a manager we were told they were busy. Dutchie this was not good.

Nice flavour and very decent size. The gravy is a bit watery though but good still. Good comfort food for when you’re feeling down and not very well.

Lovely Caribbean restaurant, great portions, good variety, tasty food, great friendly service and good arrived quickly. Reggae music on the background was lovely. I took my hubby and he loved it too! Drinks were awesome! 🍸 🧉

Came for the 2 for 1 cocktails to be told they had no cocktails available at all as they had no rum or other alcohol. Ordered food items to be told they didn’t have them either. Could’ve told us this before we sat down to eat! Settled for other options when the food came 5/6 main meals were cold (can assume they weren’t made fresh in the first place) so had to be heated up. Service was poor you could tell the waitresses were thin on the ground and had had enough. Disappointing

The food at this restaurant is so yummy. The portion sizes are huge and worth the price! The cocktails are really good too. Only thing is sometimes the service can be a bit slow but it’s worth it.

The chicken wings were inedible! Dry old tasting and then Warmed up in the good old microwave! You cannot fool people with this kind of service ! Some things like the pepper steak probably tastes better the next day ! But not fried chicken? Shame because the other dishes were actually ok

ordered on deliveroo the plantain was rock solid and rubbery and you couldn't even cut it. the brown stew is pure oil they forgot the rice not to mention that it split everywhere in the bag on my floor couldn't even eat it except the mac and cheese and chips

I absolutely love the food here, the jerk chicken, festivals, and the sides are incredibly tasty! Just the service is awful, it’s SO slow and a couple times we had to physically get up and go ask for some service. It’s also quite uncomfortable as the servers are quite moody, not very friendly and they genuinely just seem disinterested in serving you, this makes going to eat and sitting in there very awkward. Shame really as the food is delicious!

If you have anything wats so ever to do. Do not come here. As well if you have respect for yourself you wont come. They have no time scale, you can wait from 10 mins to 2hrs with next to no warning or words being said. Majority of staff mumble so u might need a microphone. I collected my food after returning showing up 3 times and 1.5hrs had passed. I’ve had to ask myself if i have any respect for myself. Why am i walking into a place i know has disgusting service and food is inconsistent. Personally after attending.
