Took my family there who are visiting from the Netherlands. We were given a warm welcome and our waitress (Precious) was attentive throughout our visit. Food was fresh and absolutely delicious and portions so generous that we had to take some home boxed up! Vegetable curry was particularly tasty, spring rolls too, and my relatives loved their chicken and ribs. Thank you, Yah-so.

Visited this restaurant last week and was a pleasant experience! The cocktails were lovely, food was great (highly recommend the jerk calamari) and the customer service was good. Nice atmosphere and vibes, I’ll definitely be visiting again.

I visited Yah-So yesterday and I highly recommend everyone to visit. There food was amazing specially I tried the Mac and cheese which was 10/10 along with the jerk chicken which was delicious.

A great experience with friendly staff every time. Food is some of the best you’ll ever eat! Great Jamaican dishes and the taste and variety leave you wanting more. Wonderful drinks!

I recently dined at yah-so Caribbean in Thornton heath and had an outstanding experience. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, with a perfect blend of modern decor and Caribbean flair. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was the real star of the evening. I started with the lamb cutlets, which were perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of spice. My daughter had the curried goat, which was tender and flavorful, accompanied by white rice that was cooked to perfection. The drink menu also deserves a mention. The tropical cocktails were delicious and paired well with the meals. We particularly enjoyed the rum punch, which had a great balance of sweetness and kick. Overall, yah-so Caribbean offers an authentic taste of the Caribbean with exceptional service and a lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic meal in Thornton heath

Although the food tasted good, despite being over priced and the portions a little on the small side, the atmosphere and service can only be described as distinctly unwelcoming. My family and I are not in a hurry to return specifically because of the unfriendly attitude of the servers. If they cannot meet, greet, and attend to guests with a smile and pleasant demeanor then they should find a new profession.

Tne best Caribbean restaurant I've ever eaten at!

Purchased 4 lunch meals for myself and Co workers, it was pepper steak and rice n peas with coleslaw. Good taste was very nice until a few hours later when we all came down with food poisoning, all very sick for 2 days and we suspect it to be the rice. Never again will we eat there.

I had a lovely birthday lunch with some family and the food was fantastic as usual with a good selection of mains, sides and cocktails to choose from, also a separate kids menu. I’ve been to Yahso a few times and it never disappoints. I was given some shots and a sung a lively happy birthday compilation by the staff, with accompanying drums! who were attentive and helpful throughout the afternoon, especially Raja (?)…there can be a bit of a longer waiting time for the food but what do you expect if you want the food cooked properly! 😊

Precious and Paige are the best staff there I love the fact they are very welcoming, a lovely vibe and sooo polite. Need a raise.

The kids treated hubby to @yahsogrill for Fathers Day and it was delicious as always 😋 we’ve been here various times for birthdays and celebrations and it never disappoints I had the King prawns with salsa and bbq ribs with rice & peas and macaroni cheese. Hubby had the Seabass, the kids had the Jerk chicken and oxtail. So delicious 😋 The drinks were so nice, we had the rum punch and pinacolada and the food portion size was so much that we couldn’t finish it all so had to take it home with us! Lastly the staff were lovely, welcoming, pleasant and very attentive especially a young lady called Precious😊 The other ladies were lovely aswell but unfortunately I didn’t get their names. We definitely recommend 💯

Absolutely delicious, I was surprised how good the food was as expected it to be bland for tourists. I would definitely recommend and return. Stars removed for Service because the food took an hour to arrive. You are given two hours so most of it is spent waiting. It's worth the wait but don't come if you don't have much time.

Went here for the 3rd time with my family (Mum's birthday) and the service has improved immensely. The previous times I visited we waited over 45 minutes for the food. This time, it was a very good service with friendly staff, and a good atmosphere. Would go again.

Very disappointed with my experience. We were a birthday party of 12 celebrating my granddaughters 9th birthday. We waited over an hour for our food. When the food finally arrived, there were items missing. One of the guest had to go up to request their missing food item, my tables order had the white rice missing from the main meal. The order of oxtail came with the wrong accompaniment, and then on top of that the white rice also was brought to the table five or so minutes after, by which time the individual had finished the meat dish. Prior to that, I'd ordered another glass of sprite, which again took 10 or so minutes to arrive to our table. The server did apologised as she'd forgotten to get the drink, but I do personally feel that had one server been allocated to serving 1 or 2 tables we may not have had to wait sooooo long, and all meals would of arrived at each table within a decent time scale. They seemed to be serving everyone and therefore lacked the professional touch. The bill came with the white rice added which we didn't want as it was too late. We did ask for the service charge to be taken off the bill. Also the music could just about be heard in the area where we sat but seemed to be more at the front of the restaurant. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Went there for my sister’s birthday we paid pre booking for 3 course dinner. Considering the numbers they managed it well, staff were friendly and attentive. Food quality was great, good presentation and taste. On the whole for a Carribean restaurant it was a pleasant experience and I would return to support this black owned business.

We visited Yahso to celebrate our mums birthday, and I have to say my expectations were far exceeded!! The food was absolutely fantastic, and Page our Waitress was amazing, I can’t recall the last time I’ve received such great customer service - thank you Page We had such an great evening, i cannot wait to come back. And let me add, as a vegetarian it was so pleasing to have a filling, and tasty 2 courses. I highly recommend Yahso…. Thanks to all for such a great night !!!!

We came here and it was busy. We were told to wait at the bar by a young lady. We waited 45MINS, I asked the lady how much longer and she was suddenly confused and didn’t know what we was talking about. We ended up just leaving in anger. Terrible service.

if you find yourself in this part of southeast London then Yah-So is most definitely worth your time. Although its clientele seems to consist mainly of locals from in and around Croydon, this Jamaican restaurant is decorated tastefully.

Went to London to meet my brother in-law who was travelling from Jamaica, nothing was planned, decided to go here for a drink and a catch up. Subsequently, he had left his wallet, and I only had a small amount of cash. Low and behold we only noticed when the bill came, i dno what our server was called, but she managed that situation flawlessly so we didnt have to feel embarassed! Never found myself in a situation like this before, but trust me.. it wont happen again. lol To the young lady who helped us out of sticky situation, Thank you! Food was like eating in Jamaica! If I could give 1 star I would!!! Went to this place a few years ago and ended up walking out as after 40 minutes no one took our order and not so much of a drink! Was told to give it another go so went there today, not so much as a smile from the staff. Had us waiting at the front and after some time the woman FINALLY came and seated us with the menu. My fiancé and I were ready to order and we waited...and waited....and waited.....! She walked past and she looked me in the eye and looked away! She served someone else, walked passed so I called her and she has the AUDACITY to stick her finger up and said 1 minute. Then proceeded to strut up and down the restaurant, went behind the bar so I told my fiancé let's go. As soon as we got up and walked off this is when she wants to walk up to us with a feeble "sorry". Ridiculous service, miserable staff, walking around as if customers don't pay their wages. Couldn't tell you what the food or drinks taste like as they can't be bothered to serve you!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!

To be honest with everyone, I am very disappointed with the service provided by Yahso. I called this restaurant yesterday to make reservations as I could see online that you can only get a table reserved from after 17.30 which is an hour and a half after opening, so I thought to call. Initially I was rejected for making a booking of 3adults and 2 children as we was told we would inconvenience another booking but soon after I received a call back from an employee saying she could make an exception. We agreed I will be half hour but due to the diversions in the surrounding area and also coming from a far I realise quite quickly we might not be able to make that half hour booking, so I called the restaurant… not once …10 times, just to double check it was still okay to attended. When we arrived, half hour past the time we agreed the lady who greeted us then told us she can no longer accommodate to our verbal agreement, as she is booked up, then followed by “why didn’t we call?”, at this point I was furious (but remained calm) because the lady had zero customers to serve in front of her and she had the phone sitting by her hand, I mentioned I called numerous times and she chose to let me know how busy she was. So to conclude, I’ve driven from north London to be rejected with zero empathy. I have been Yahso once before, the food was lovely and I was looking to spend my dollars again however not on customer service like that. It’s so unfortunate that such a lovely restaurant like this lacks points due to hiring Unenthusiastic, rude and lazy staff, I’m not sure if these people are related to the owners but please do yourself a favour and hire staff willing to give your business a good name. Reading the rest of the reviews clearly shows I am not the only customer who’s attended but didn’t enjoy themselves.

We decided to have our friend birthday at Yah-so restaurant as he's from Jamaica and has a few Caribbean friends. We wanted it special for him the restaurant team made it very especial and spectacular 😍. Well done to Yah-so team , we will come back definitely Nathalie

I rang Yahso to see if I could book a table for this evening, only to be told that at the moment they only have availability for 8.30pm. To which I replied no problem, then asked if there were any chance of a cancellation or earlier booking. Some rude, facety, stink old woman screams at me “don’t you think I would’ve told you if we had availability!! Luckily for this person I was not in the restaurant! How dare you speak to a potential customer like this! I’m apoplectic with rage! Whoever I spoke to, is an absolute disgrace! This woman should be sacked immediately ! I will NEVER eat from this establishment again! This attitude is why black businesses don’t thrive!

It was a friendly service but service for drinks to be served was too slow. Probably could do with more staff perhaps? Or someone there to coordinate between staff and guests so it wouldn't look so vague? The host wasn't too happy with the time food was served and needed to organise for the guests who were present first, not prioritised for the guests who hadn't arrived yet. Overall and all in all it was an excellent night out. It was good fun to be had by everyone and happy people made it a fun night. I loved the DJ style of play which is probably usual on point for restaurant standards playing a good mixture of reggae and afrobeats as well as Western soul rhythms old and new tunes. The night tun up!!! Bongo drums was a pleasant birthday surprise!!! 👍🏾🙌🏾Yes I will go back and dine there again for a reservation. An excellent Caribbean vibes and atmosphere achieved. I loved it!!! 😁

Came here for Sunday dinner with the family. Absolutely brilliant service and food. A great vibe in Yahso. Credit to the team - Precious, Talitha, Paige, Kerry, Zion and Nekayba! Last time here was a year ago when we had a long wait. The service has gone through the roof since. The best Jamaican food in the area, probably South London!!

The waitress that looked after for us her name Rihanna was very Pleasant came over to see if we were okay and if we needed anything, Mark Out of 10 for her.

Came in and was ignored by all staff. Was stood by the door for a good 2/3 minutes before I stopped a member of staff to speak to them. Absolutely shocking customer service

I had an amazing 20th birthday at this restaurant the service was absolutely amazing. I want to big up Talitha, she was amazing right from the moment we walked in she gave us such an amazing welcome right till the end. Our waiter Rihanna, was attentive to us, she went out of her way to ensure we were happy and our needs were met (dairy allergy). The food was ok, I would have preferred a little more flavour and spice. Cocktails also needed a little work in terms of presentation and alcohol level. Having said that, the atmosphere was nice and the rest of the staff seemed lovely.

Best hidden local gem in Thornton Heath. I visited the restaurant last night in a party of three. I have been to the restaurant several times before and always have had a great experience. Excellent, attentive service from Paige our waitress - who was friendly, efficient and professional. The food takes a little while to arrive, but as always is delicious. I particularly like the way the menu gives each dish a title in Jamaican patois and then a full description of the food underneath - genius. We usually book at short notice, a day or two before. This time I noticed the restaurant is no longer on Opentable and so I booked via the website for the following night, Saturday. The 5pm slot we wanted was available, but I noticed the next availability was not until 9pm. I therefore suggest to avoid disappointment, book a little in advance, particularly for large groups on prime nights like Saturday. We had a warm welcome when we arrived and were seated at the bar for drinks, Our table, a cosy booth near the window, was ready for us shortly after. The restaurant has a warm rustic Caribbean feel with lovely decor including cultural memorabilia objects and with great reggae music playing in the background. Its reminiscent of how you would imagine a bar/restaurant by a beach in the Caribbean. It was one person's birthday in our group and once I gave the nod to Paige, she, along with the other waiting staff gave the birthday boy an amazing rendition of Stevie Wonders Happy Birthday "the Yah-So way" singing and playing live drums - good voices too :) That was the icing on the cake to a great evening.

I haven’t been Ya So in years due to when I use to go the wait for food was ages and service wasn’t great! I went today after a long thought and everything was perfect! The staff was friendly, informative and just welcoming! Our waitress was Precious she was lovely and gave us all the information that was needed! Food was delicious! Will be back! I even paid service charge which I normally op out of 😂
