Unfortunately food is awful. They do buy reused oil from other restaurants that have been thrown away so makes sense to why it doesn’t taste nice. My friend ordered battered sausage and he was quite ill afterwards. Definitely get your fish and chips from else where!

Food was not great and portions were very small. It was cold and tasted stale. The kids fish and chips were a piece of stale cod cut in half. Definitely not worth the 35 pounds spent. We will not be returning!

Lovely guy servicing, very friendly! Shame the food is terrible. My chips, what I had of them because the portions are so small, we're old and stale! Not fresh! So disappointed when you queue for 20 mins waiting for a few old chips! Fish was delicious and so was the battered sausage, but my fav is the chips and they were awful! Won't be coming back!

Disappointing!! Never have they been generous with the chips but they always taste good. Yesterday there were even less chips, the fish was over cooked with hard greasy batter. Usually its not too bad but not this time.

Food portions are ridiculous, only enough chips for a child, especially for what they charge. Average flavour only real good aspect was the curry sauce.

5 star quality provided today at romsey goodies, was served by Lee who was incredibly helpful, polite and cheerful.. definitely recommend this place and thank you Lee for the service you gave us 👍🏼

great for gluten free things on mondays when a new fresh batch is made stopping cross contamination so all of the ceoliac community can still enjoy a good meal from this amazing chippy shop.

Love this chippy. My Wife and I visited here regularly when we came to view houses in the surrounding area 20+ years ago and still pop in on occasion and are never disappointed. Good size portions and lovely, tasty sausages, pies, fish & chips👍👍

As in the area decided to get fish and chips rather than drive to our usual place in Totton. Tiny portion of fish, literally a few mouthfuls and the chips too, with too many inedible scraps and way too much oil and fat. Next time will head to McDonald's for a burger.

Had a fair few takeaway from here and can't fault it at all, excellent food and very reasonably priced, I do recommend if ever in the mood for a nice meal at a reasonable price, stuff are very friendly and always do their best even in the busy times and I find that Craig has a lil chat and a smile well done Craig always cheerful

I popped in here for something quick to eat after a four hour drive and was pleasantly surprised. Much better than the two shops close to me, but not quite worth an eight hour round trip. I will pop in again when I am next nearby.

Thanks to Chris and team for feeding 80 of us at our Romsey Ukelele Group Xmas evening. Delivered on time & very positive comments on quality from group. Very helpful and reasonably priced too. 2nd year running we have used Goodies, and again did not disappoint.

Terrible! Won’t be going back asked for a large chips and gave me enough for one person. Sausage was horrible. Cod was okay cost £13 for nothing.

Get the curry sauce as fabulous

Portion sizes are TINY. My portion of chips was smaller than the pie. Pie was soggy and 4/5ths air, hardly any contents. Vinegar leaking out of the bottom of the bag. What little you get seems to have gotten tough from sitting around for a while, but otherwise passable I guess. But over £8 for such a small amount of food is abysmal from a chipshop.

We always stop here on a Friday night on our way to the town centre, we are very rarely let down by the quality. Portion sizes are always good

Open 7 days a week, from 5. Closed at 5.20 on a Friday night, no warning No sign in window just a dark empty store 😕

A fast polite service and great quality fish and chips, the fish is cooked perfectly, NO soggy batter here.

Great now, less geasy than before (years back), and chips now on the good side of crispy again. Prefer it over Caught now as don't have to wait 20 minutes for your order. Traditional fish and chips, and the perfect classic chip shop curry sauce 😉. Kids love the kids box meals too.

Pretty decent with decent portion size

Visited here 3 years ago when we frist moved to romsey and was very disappointed. Said never again!!! When walking passed and had seen there was new staff,thought I would give it a go again. Very glad I did what a turn around. Wonderful fish and the chips portions are huge. Been back a few times now and everytime has been the same.👍

Proper fish and chips from a proper fish and chip shop. Not trying to be fine dining and why would it? Goodies in Romsey is a brilliant no nonsense fish and chip shop. The chips are cut well and are never greasy and the fish is great. Obviously things will be better when freshly cooked, but I don't think we've ever had bad fish and chips from Goodies which is a pretty good sign. There are kids meals and our children like them, but those are more functional, still they don't complain! All the other chippy staples can be had from picked eggs and cockles, to curry sauce. In an age when everything is trying to redefine itself as a destination or experience, it's refreshing to go to a fish and chip shop and to find that is exactly what it is.

Service with a scowl, awful customer service. Food not too bad and quick service to be fair.

If you can't park a car, this seems to be the plaice to go...feel free to pull up right outside the door. If you get it just right you can simultaneously block both the service road and the rear carpark. Also feel free to ignore the social distancing notices - they don't apply to you. Ok. Rant over.... You know who you are... Fish and chips were absolutely tip top. I have tried the other chippies in the locality, and my friends were wrong...I think they only went elsewhere so I would get them next time. Goodies....goody goody yum yum....

Having been at work I decided to have fish and chips for dinner, wish I hadn't. Fish was ok but batter terrible, maybe this was because the soggy greasy chips were placed on top of it.. it was just luke warm, being hungry I did eat as much as I could.Sadly I wont be returning. Their procedure with Covid was good.

Clear signage for Covid-19, one customer in shop at a time. Food was hot, well packaged so still hot when home. Good quality cod and plenty of chips.

Very nice freshly cooked fish and chips

After explaining that there was an order for vegetarians they proceeded to place the vegetarian meals in the same bag with the meat meals. Thus made it unedible and it was also small portions for an expensive takeaway meal.

This is one of a couple of Fish and Chip shops in Romsey so the choices are limited for us, as far as Fish and Chips go i wouldn't say it is up there when i compare it to others. I've never thought that value for money with goodies is great, as i have also used the location in chandlers ford previously. When i compare the portion sizes at goodies to any other regular 'chippy' they are pretty lacking for what you would expect to get for the money. However, the fish is very tasty, but again, is still a little smaller than i would expect for the price. As for service upon walking in, service with a smile isn't on the menu unfortunately, the woman who served us on this occasion barely greeted us when we approached the counter and seemed to be lacking in the 'happy' or 'smile' department which made the whole process a little awkward to be honest. As i stated previously, given more choice locally Goodies wouldnt usually be the first choice for us, but the local area doesnt leave us many options when it comes to fish and chips.

£7.50 for this... first and last time I will go to this place! Dry chips and too overpriced!

Went in here on Sunday 2 February 2020 at 6:15pmSausage was ok and fish cake was ok. But chip were awful.Note to staff - do NOT cook so many chips and leave them turning manc! Much better when the older lady is working! Take note!

This branch of Goodies in Romsey was OK but the chips were not as nice or plentiful as the branch in Totton and the fish seemed to have been sitting a while. Not awful, but not great either.

Well overdue a good review, been having takeaways from this chip shop for a while now and I can inform the fish is excellent as well as the chips. Never had a bad takeaway which tells you the standard is very good. Tried them all In Romsey and in my opinion this is the best by far.

Best fish and chips in the area (Chandlers Ford). Serving staff can be a bit surly but don't be put off because the fish and chips are worth it. Sign up for their regular customer card and you get a bit of discount.

I only live round the corner from this, and thought this would be handy as hell. However, the four times I've visited since moving in have been awful. Whoever is serving me is always useless and has no idea what is going on. 3 of those visits I had issues with ordering something as simple as curry sauce. Twice they made me wait 20 minutes while they made it, at around 7 or 8 which is prime time for food surely, why was there none made? And then another time I was refused it because it was 9 o’clock and they wouldn’t make anymore. With two hours left until they closed? Seriously? Never issues with the food, although the young boys seem to refrigerate and then microwave curry sauce which means it’s barely luke warm. However, starting to think I’ll make my visits a lot less often because of all this.

Good, honest, no nonsense, no messing about, chips and chip shop sides. You know where you stand with these guys.

Won't be coming back. The chips were either so hard they'd break your teeth or soggy that you couldn't pick them up. Also the woman needs some manners and learn how to smile.

Ordered in store, staff were very nice, took about 1 hour (too long). The food though, the food was literally dripping in oil and I had to add way too much salt to get it to actually taste like anything except bland baby food. Went to Caught the next time and haven't ever gone back.

This chippy is good. Portions are generous, the batter is crispy and the chips thick cut and tasty. We got exactly what we were expecting (and craving) and were perfectly satisfied.

£1.80 for a very small portion of half cooked soggy bruised chips.... how hard can it be to fry a potatoe? Dreadful, if I hadn’t have been so hungry I would have taken them back!

This refers to a visit on saturday april 28. There used to be a woman in charge of dispensing your orders. She was excellent - it was a pleasure to go there, and they would go out of their way to ensure you left happy. Now there is a callow youth who is in dire need of training in customer relationship management ! You will not leave happy i guarantee. Not going there again.

I would usually visit the chip shop at vinney Avenue in romsey but it was too late so decided to visit goodies I wish I hadn’t bothered none of the family enjoyed it the chips weren’t very nice and the fish was terrible. I prefer my fish without the skin but unfortunately they leave it on and to be honest it didn’t even taste as though they had prepared it properly it was unbelievably salty and left a nasty taste in my mouth the portion sizes are tiny and wasn’t even enough for my 10 year old. I will never go there again I would rather starve than eat there again

We visit the chip shop every Friday and the staff are always happy and very nice we would not go anywhere else . Chris is a champion fryer ...batter always light and haddock cooked to perfection

Excellent fish and chips tonight

Hadn't used Goidies since the last very poor service and food quality but sadly as Viney Avenue was closed we thought we would try again. Sadly however after queuing for ages the lovely lady couldn't hardly make eye or even face contact without a scowl and was very abrupt in her speech!! Food didn't let us down though as expensive round of wishy washy Cod and small amount of black hard chips was still awful but what do you expect from a shop that doesn't acknowledge your existence!!!!! Very poor and a total let down maybe a trip up the hill to visit a Chippy that are pleased to see you and enjoy what they are doing!! 🤔

I have mostly had great food from this fish and chip shop. They have a gluten free day, oap day and children menu. Parking can be an issue so if you head out, in the car, to buy at peak times you might struggle. My advice is park away and have a short stroll to the shop then you won't have to wait around causing traffic issues. Staff can be rather "French" but once they know you or if you are friendly they are wonderfully friendly back. Must be one of those places that people forget to take manners to so I don't blame them! Great chips and a wide choice.

I had visited a few times since moving to the area. Staff normally say or act questionably but you can let it go as you can leave seconds later. On my last visit, The (new?) member of staff serving me didn't speak - just glared at me expectantly - on asking for me order, he roughly opening a bag and shovelled in chips and a sausage - didn't even ask if i wanted salt and vinegar. '£4.30'! - took my note and through the change back -

Goodies was always my favourite chip-shop when I lived in Romsey and having visited it last week I am pleased to say that it still is: no fuss, no frills or fancy cardboard boxes hiding dry chips, this is the real thing. Very good value for money.

I was so disappointed! First of all, the person serving me was very rude. He looked so unhappy, rolled his eyes when I asked to pay by card and didn't give me a reciept. All he did was grunt at me. It was very expensive so I hoped it would be good.

The food isn't the best, but it's not bad.

In my opinion Goodies is the nicest chippy in Romsey. We used to find that the portions were quite small but they seem to be a better size lately. The variety of choices available means that everybody is happy and the price isn't too high. Highly recommend.
