Golden Valley in Chichester

After reading the reviews I thought it wasn’t good. Well, the reviews aren’t quite right! The food was delicious and cooked to order. Very tasty. Really impressed and for the area it is certainly reasonably priced.

Lovely chinese, ive tried many places and these are one of the top, ive been using them for years. Customer service is excellent too. Cannot fault the place.

Always paid £3 for delivery they now want £7 Fernhurst to lodsworth so cancelled order I can get to Chichester on £7 Oh also I was told if I didn't like it just cancel your order Been ordering for on and off 20yrs!!!!

Our first time ordering and pleasantly surprised. We were warned that it would take a while but the food arrived in half the time and nice and hot. Portions were very generous and the flavours were really nice and not overly salty - we particularly recommend the pork ribs in peking sauce. Nice to have a friendly, family run local takeaway for when we don’t fancy cooking!

Chicken curry was really worth the money.

Ordered from here for the first time yesterday and it was absolutely great! Very friendly and polite service, and the food was lovely (meats were tender, veg fresh and al dente, sauces nicely balanced). Will definitely be back.

Never open, and no warning.... absolutely rubbish!

Food was cooked in burnt oil ! ribs where not cooked !! used to be good ! just gone down hill so fast ! wont use again !!

Really bad.. we all had food poisoning from here, we have never used this place before so we thought we would give it a go. Asked around about this place and everyone said the same thing; that they all had food poisoning or an upset tummy!

Had A Set Meal for 1 which was ok hence why 2 Stars however I ordered some chips and they were horrific. My Lab even refused to eat them and he eats like a hoover. They must of been cooked 3days ago. The were just soggy and just deep fat fried crumbs in the bag. Very disappointing.

If I could give less than 1 Star I would absolutely applying service, would never even think about ordering from them ever again! Ordered at just before 6pm, nearly an hour and half later someone phoned us but didn’t say anything tried to call back as thought perhaps the driver was lost, no answer, then 10 minutes later called us again it wasn’t the driver but someone up the road from us who had the delivery driver there with a food, saying they had come to them because they are regulars, (why on earth the delivery driver wouldn’t call us? How would some random neighbour know who ordered a Chinese? We then proceeded to tell the person to tell the driver to go to the next left down the road, 10 minutes still no delivery bearing in mind where they were, was about 4 minutes away, we then called the shop who proceeded to tell us it was their husband delivering they would call them get them to call us. Another 10 Minutes later called them again, to find out on what earth was going on as knew at this rate our food would be freezing cold if it was going to be delivered! The woman proceeded to talk Chinese, and then said you want to cancel? I said well if it’s not arriving anytime soon then yes perhaps for the best, she then hung up on me no apology. Another 10 minutes the delivery driver called asking where we lived, I said as far as I am aware the order is cancelled, I tried to ask where they were but he couldn’t tell me , I said if you can deliver it will there be a discount (bearing in mind the order was £94) he confirmed there wouldn’t be. , I said well I’ve told the shop I don’t want it, it will be freezing cold by the time it arrives, again no apology. Absolutely appalling and how they Survive as business in this day and age is beyond me.

Although the website says 'open', its become the norm for them not to answer the phone, even on nights when they're clearly not busy. Why dont they update their opening and closing times online??? Food is fairly good WHEN they're open! But very unreliable.

Not a great Chinese. Won't be going back as I ordered 1/4 crsipy duck, which iv had many times in my life and I'm convinced what I got was not duck but pork! I didn't want a refund as I ate it regardless but I made them aware, it was denied. I know things are hard at the moment but things should be taken off the menu if they are unavailable.

Hit and miss, some items a great, others not so much. Not to keen on the sweet and sour sauce at this place, but overall most items are good that I've tried.

Fist Chinese in 2year as I had been out in Botswana and south Africa but does not compete!

Just phoned up to order and the take away told me that they are not delivering to northchapel tonight ?!?!?!?! What's the point of offering delivery if your not going to deliver.

Refused to deliver?? We live 5 minutes drive away. No explanation.

Absolutely awful! Order for delivery at 5.30, get told a 1hour and 20 minute wait, not a problem.. but 2 and a half hours later after already ringing another 2 times to find out what's going on I get told theres another 20 minutes?! Not an apology either.. safe to say I cancelled the order and i wont be returning anytime soon. Poor customer service, wish I could comment on the food but it never turned up!

Not impressed, food took a while to be delivered, arrived warm. Ribs dry and like leather, seaweed over cooked and just tasted bitter, egg fried rice tasteless, sweet and sour chicken was just a watery type clear syrup that had no flavour of either sweet or sour. After a previous bad experience here I thought I'd give it a go again but this was its last chance and we won't be returning again.

Ordered a takeaway tonight 6.35pm tonight was told it would 45 mins. After two phone calls finally got our food at 8.15pm. Just got a sorry from driver. Not impressed and the food isn't cheap. Unfortunately, won't be using them again

I wish I could give 0 stars. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted! It is consistently bad- chewy, bland and gelatinous. AVOID at all costs.

I wouldn't normally leave a review for something like this but my last experience at the Golden Valley meant I had to. Great atmosphere, amazing food and really friendly owners. I would really recommend popping in if your passing by.

Pleasantly surprised! Me and the wife ordered from here a long time ago and experienced a disappointing, bland meal. A friend recently told us it was under new management, so we decided to give it one more chance. The food was a vast improvement and arrived in 25 minutes! Will definitely be coming back again.

Great appetisers - especially the Chicken satay & prawn toasts. Generous portion size in comparison to other takeaways. Beef in black bean sauce is just too good. Highly recommend!
