This was much better then I expected (because of the location). Lovely batter on the fish, proper mushy peas, not quite the "chip shop chips" of my youth but still very good. Excellent friendly service with very helpful staff. Definitely worth it if you're up town.

An incredible fish and chips place with fun trendy yet simple interior

Delicious fish, fried with a light crispy coating and flaky perfection on the inside. Perfect amount of breading, not too heavy. Portion size is splendid (large but not too large). The atmosphere is simple and lively... a lot of fun! They keep it spotless, too...very clean. Many beer options to match your taste and accompany the fish. The staff was very attentive even in their busiest times. Highly recommended!

We are French from the Vesoul region. We made a little detour to this restaurant for our last evening in London. I recommend it 10,000 thousand percent. Our waitress, who speaks French perfectly, gave us very, very good advice and was very kind. The death was very good.

Fish with no flavor and super fatty. We took the first two types and both had less taste than an average breaded fish. The fat was leaking into the tray. The price is VERY excessive for the quality of the plate, we paid more than £30 for 2 pieces of fish and chips, all to have no satisfaction during the meal. (Don't take the large portion of fries to share between two people, it's too much.) The fries are mid at best. Breaded fish is even better when flunched and, above all, less expensive. Disgusting.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I was not expecting to eat fish and chips in west but the food was actually much better than most of the local chippys my way. I would definitely visit again but fish and chips is not often a huge craving but the food was enjoyable and service was quick and friendly

Exceptional service! No A/C but if seated in the back, great ventilation. Many female singles dropping in after shopping and enjoying a solitary lunch. One WC. We had a cod platter and a haddock platter, each accompanied by chips, lemon and tartar sauce. Both were MORE than enough for 2 adults and 2 tweens. We added extra chips (unnecessary). Table accompaniments were salt, vinegar, ketchup. The fish was very, very fresh. Each bite felt incredibly creamy. We don't often do fried foods, so this felt just a little greasier than we'd expected. You can pay by both credit card and cash. Front entry had a full takeaway counter. There is room to park strollers.

Service was quite poor. Front worker was condescending and take away took quite a while to be ready. Food was strictly okay, not bad but not good either.

The fish and chips here are the best, really... but they won't add salt if you don't tell them.

Super friendly staff, it was very busy but I didn't have to wait more than 5min to get a table and the food was super quick delivered for me. I asked the waitress for a vegetarian rec and it was awesome!! Their tartare is delicious. It has a free jukebox inside that you can use and it's super nice.

Great fresh fish n chips. The wait for a table mught sometimes be some 10-20mins. But it is worth it. Great Location just off Oxford street. Freshly made. Nice and crunchy. Massive size portions.

My family and I had the best meal and experience here. We all got different types of fish and chips and everyone was happy. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive. It was one of our most memorable meals in London. We'll be sure to come back!

The only place for me that defies the "there's no good fish and chips in London" stereotype. It's a great little restaurant, with cute vintage vibes. The fish and chips are divine. Constantly have to resist going in there whenever I'm in Soho!!

Retro atmosphere with red lights reminiscent of American diners, generous portions and decidedly competitive prices. The frying is excellent, light and crunchy, as is the quality of the raw materials. In addition to the classic Cod & Chips, they also serve various plant-based options, including vegan Fish & Chips. Although the consistency is obviously different, the plant based version is soft and amazes with its texture and taste. Approved, for all tastes, with flying colors!

It's expensive, but it seems to be a good fish app chips restaurant. I don't really like fish, so I wanted to eat it with bread. I can't remember the exact name of the menu, but I ordered a sandwich and I think it cost about 15 pounds including tip. First of all, the portion was very large and my friends who went with me just ordered fish and chips, but seeing as they said they would be full by the time they finished eating, it would be nice to order a sandwich if you don't like fish. There is a restroom inside the store, but it's free, but there's only one, so if someone is inside, you have to wait and the inside doesn't look that clean.

Fish and chips, there is something more typical of London to eat. Classic restaurant for this type of food, don't expect a glamorous restaurant, but rather a familiar one with exquisite treatment from its staff. I liked it a lot, I recommend it if you are in the area, you will feel comfortable enjoying a typical meal.

Exceptionally large portions at a good price. Nothing wrong with the price-performance ratio. It also tasted good and is probably better than any other fish and chip shop in the area

While I’m no expert on fish & chips, I’m not a novice either, and I will say hands down this is the best chip shop I’ve been to. The chips were a perfect balance of crisp and soft, the fish had a nice crust with flavorful fish that was cooked to perfection. The tartare sauce was amazing as well. The portions of everything were more than enough and while I was hesitant due to the prices, the portions more than made up for it. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice as well and the staff was very friendly. I heard some people say the food takes too long, but I’d rather wait than have food that wasn’t cooked fresh to order.

We were welcomed by Eden, Aurore and Maria in a very friendly manner. Eden and Aurore speak French, they help to better understand the menu. We were very well advised. The portions are generous, everything is homemade even the fries and it's the best fish and chips we've eaten. Looking forward to another meal in this restaurant during our next stay in London.

A place specializing in fish & chips, it offers a wide variety of dishes including vegan options. Personally I tried the real fish & chips of both Cod and Hammock, both very good, the frying is very crunchy and light, not at all soaked in oil (as is usually the case in poor restaurants). The atmosphere is reminiscent of an American diner, white tiles on the walls and black and white on the floor. The waiters are very kind and helpful. Prices are reasonable, average for London, fish & chips: £17.45. Advised!

Today, we visited London for the first time we came across this restaurant that offers fish and chips, and we had lunch here—the portions were fantastic, and the food tasted great. Highly recommended!

One of the best fish and chips meals I’ve ever had. I was craving fish and chips and saw this place was near our hotel, so figured I’d pop in. I ordered the cod and chips, and it was delicious! It was made to order so it was super duper hot and fresh when I got it. The batter was nice and crisp and had a nice flavor to it. Fish was nice and white, soft, and melt in your mouth. This place got super busy, so service to check out was a little slow, but overall it was a good experience.

Nice clean chip shop, lots of fish options and vegan/vegetarian options, nice servers, a bit slow to get our food and a bit pricey, but average for London.

Food, atmosphere and service, all golden. Best fish'n'chips I've been eating in this town yet. My only advice is that you should order a extra tartar sauce, because it's so tiny amount they are giving you including the price.

Food is amazing...but...no mobile network within the venue when eating in...prevents me going there as even on breaks I need to be reachable If they would offer wifi would make it totally perfect...! Atmosphere 1* is for the fact of being unreachable when using the venue...its 2024!!!!

A pathetic excuse for a restaurant, The Golden Union was a total letdown. The fish was flavorless and practically inedible, and the staff couldn’t have cared less, giving the rudest service I’ve ever experienced. The cook even threatened to call the police because we complained about the cod. And to top it off, the prices were ridiculous for such awful food. Save your money and go anywhere else—this place is a joke.

Good value for money, extraordinary service, kind and efficient. Tasty fresh haddock and chips, very good cod, delicious pie, narrow yet smart wine selection. Fancy diner deco. Highly recommended.

Tastes good but quite expensive only for fish and chips

Had an amazing fish (cod) and chips, so good! The fish was perfectly cooked, the chips where to die for and the tartar sauce was out of this world. The staff was very sweet and gave great service. Will definitely come back next time in London.

Very good fish & chips at a good price. I would recommend giving Golden Union a try. Take out was cheaper than dining in if you wanted to go that route. Plant based "fish" is also an option here.👍

Fish is very oily and tasteless, potatoes not crispy and very plain, interior decoration is bad, it smells a lot like fish inside and the prices are too high. 50£ for a meal for 2 people and it didn't even satisfy our hunger. Skip this one!

The Sauce was good, but the fish was absorbed in oil and very greasy. No mushy peas or side salad even when you spend 20 quids. I got an ugh from the staff when I asked to remove the service charge. Its good for wealthy tourists who look for a good ambience, although the chairs were really uncomfortable.

Enjoyed both times I have eaten here. Got the original fish and chips the first time, and fish cakes the second. Really liked the fish cakes! Chips always delicious.

Very diner atmosphere little to no natural lighting (😕) but for the people who like this red light diner feel they would love it! Fish and chips was GREAT fish itself was very fresh and lovely BUT my 2 stars went flying because it was VERY oily. Like almost a puddle of oil on my plate which could have easily been prevented if it was allowed to drain before being put on the plate. Todays lunch - regular Haddock and chips £14. As good as anything i've had by the sea or up North. Can't give it anything less then a 10/10. Its a big box, Chips were more large then regular, fish tasted very fresh. Highly recommended if you are in the West End!

We ate the original fish and chips. I could definitely say that it one portion is enough for two people. You may wait a bit as the restaurant is busy during lunch and dinner time. We loved the coleslaw and the chips. Also keep in mind that the oil was a bit too much. 🐟

Don’t bother. The fish is flavorless. This is like tempura battered and has zero flavor. It’s not traditional English fish and chips. The chips are thick cut and also flavorless. Large portions but mostly tempura batter. Go to a traditional pub instead.

The store recommended by many websites is not far from the British Museum. I went to eat after visiting. The store is not big and there are not many places. The fried fish tastes really good, the beef pie is also delicious, and the clerk is very friendly.

This is probably the worst food experience I have had for 20 pounds. The fish had no flavor and was leaking with oil. I cut my knife into the fish, and my plate was filled with oil and grease. Nothing could save that poor fish. The chips were fine, just like the remoulade sauce.
