Very rude staff the bold guy. I asked for salt and pepper on the chips, he then turned around laughing at us with his colleague.

It's delicious (and expensive) and greasy, but I'm from the UK so I'll be full after eating it all haha.

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Curry sauce was out of this world and the pies are homemade.

My cod had cod worms in it, unfortunately. The service was great, took the food away immediately and offered to remake or refund it. But the concern of getting a parasite was too much for me to want to try again, so I stuck to chips.

The place is really small and suffocated, there is no ventilation and you leave with your clothes and hair smelling of terrible frying😣 Regarding the food - average minus, we took cod fish and chips which were completely bland. There are much better places.

I had the COD fish and Chips. I found the fish nice but nit savory enough. The same with the sauce. The Chips were also average. Pity as the ambiance and service were good!

Stopped by here for dinner on a Sunday during my trip to London. We kept seeing fish and chips on restaurant menus and felt it was a must while in the city. We found this place online as we were having drinks in SOHO. We made a good choice. When you walk in, it's there take away area. Continue to the back and you will be seated by their staff. I ordered the "Old Jamaica Ginger Beer" it was really good. Something I hadn't tried before and it was worth it. I ordered the Haddock & Chips. honey had the Scampi & Chips. The Haddock was really fresh, fried with a thin batter and crispy and less flaky. Paired with the tater sauce it was really good. I enjoyed the scampi too. It was battered just right and if I return, I will definitely order that. They have a juke box, but the selection of Beyonce music made the restaurant a vibe. Overall a great place for a quick bite of you're in the SOHO area.

Loved my food here! My partner and I shared the Cod Fish and Chips. The portion is very generous, unfortunately I only remembered to take a picture halfway.😅 The fish was cooked beautifully, very tender and with the perfect ratio of batter to fish. And I was glad to get a good amount of protein (despite sharing)! The fries were also really good, not too oily and the potato tasted great. Our server, Betty, was amazing! She was attentive throughout our meal, patiently explaining the different types of fish on the menu, which really helped us make our choice. When we spilled some water and used our napkin to clean it up, she quickly brought us a fresh one without us even asking. Betty checked in on us just the right amount to ensure we were comfortable, without being intrusive. Her friendly and professional demeanor truly enhanced our dining experience. Thank you, Betty!

The fish is definitely the star of the show! Come here to Golden Union! This is definitely a busy location. I was fortunate to come here just before it was peak dinner time and I did see a lot of people waiting. If you look to come here at usually meal times, be ready for a wait! What Is great about this establishment is that they have many options for your fish in case you are craving something in particular. With it being my first time here, I was looking to try either the Haddock or Cod, and decided on the Haddock. Once I received my fish and chips, I was ready to eat and wow the fish was so good and well fried. I tasted how good the fried batter was while all the flavor of the fish was still inside! I could eat this fried fish all day! The batter had the flakiness to it which added a nice texture. As for the chips (fries), I will say that they were average and nothing too special. However, keep that appetite for the fish! Make sure you finish that! Service itself was pretty fast and prompt. They definitely look to get your food quickly so you can enjoy your meal so they can accommodate as many people as possible.

Ordered Cod and Chips with a side of Coleslaw. The fish is unfortunately only crispy on the both sides and quite mushy on the center part. I think that the cod was cooked and left on the pass quite some time. The chips, tartare sauce and coleslaw were spot on. Their service is marvellous quite enthusiastic.

A very good option for fish and chips in London. The place was nice, the service was fast and the food was delicious, we were satisfied with everything, there is only a 10% service fee, I did not understand it, other than that, it is a very adequate place.

The fish and chips are pretty good. I gave 3/5 simply because I was expecting something better for the price. The staffs are super friendly and they provide you with excellent advices.

It's difficult to compare as it's the only fish and chips I had in London, but I personally enjoyed it very much. I think I enjoyed the fried food, fish, and onion rings without any complaints. The staff is friendly and the menu comes out quickly, so I think it's a restaurant worth stopping by. We had the Cod menu and the portion size was quite large so adding an onion ring was enough for two people. However, due to the nature of the fried food, it was a bit greasy in the middle, so I think cola was essential haha. Oh, it was like a milkshake and it tasted great, so keep that in mind. The interior atmosphere is hip and London-like.

This was much better then I expected (because of the location). Lovely batter on the fish, proper mushy peas, not quite the "chip shop chips" of my youth but still very good. Excellent friendly service with very helpful staff. Definitely worth it if you're up town.

Delicious fish, fried with a light crispy coating and flaky perfection on the inside. Perfect amount of breading, not too heavy. Portion size is splendid (large but not too large). The atmosphere is simple and lively... a lot of fun! They keep it spotless, too...very clean. Many beer options to match your taste and accompany the fish. The staff was very attentive even in their busiest times. Highly recommended!

Fish with no flavor and super fatty. We took the first two types and both had less taste than an average breaded fish. The fat was leaking into the tray. The price is VERY excessive for the quality of the plate, we paid more than £30 for 2 pieces of fish and chips, all to have no satisfaction during the meal. (Don't take the large portion of fries to share between two people, it's too much.) The fries are mid at best. Breaded fish is even better when flunched and, above all, less expensive. Disgusting.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I was not expecting to eat fish and chips in west but the food was actually much better than most of the local chippys my way. Exceptional service! No A/C but if seated in the back, great ventilation. Many female singles dropping in after shopping and enjoying a solitary lunch. One WC. We had a cod platter and a haddock platter, each accompanied by chips, lemon and tartar sauce. Both were MORE than enough for 2 adults and 2 tweens. We added extra chips (unnecessary). Table accompaniments were salt, vinegar, ketchup. The fish was very, very fresh. Each bite felt incredibly creamy. We don't often do fried foods, so this felt just a little greasier than we'd expected. You can pay by both credit card and cash. Front entry had a full takeaway counter. There is room to park strollers.

Super friendly staff, it was very busy but I didn't have to wait more than 5min to get a table and the food was super quick delivered for me. I asked the waitress for a vegetarian rec and it was awesome!! Their tartare is delicious. It has a free jukebox inside that you can use and it's super nice.

The only place for me that defies the "there's no good fish and chips in London" stereotype. It's a great little restaurant, with cute vintage vibes. The fish and chips are divine. Constantly have to resist going in there whenever I'm in Soho!!

Retro atmosphere with red lights reminiscent of American diners, generous portions and decidedly competitive prices. The frying is excellent, light and crunchy, as is the quality of the raw materials. In addition to the classic Cod & Chips, they also serve various plant-based options, including vegan Fish & Chips. Although the consistency is obviously different, the plant based version is soft and amazes with its texture and taste. Approved, for all tastes, with flying colors!

It's expensive, but it seems to be a good fish app chips restaurant. I don't really like fish, so I wanted to eat it with bread. I can't remember the exact name of the menu, but I ordered a sandwich and I think it cost about 15 pounds including tip. First of all, the portion was very large and my friends who went with me just ordered fish and chips, but seeing as they said they would be full by the time they finished eating, it would be nice to order a sandwich if you don't like fish. There is a restroom inside the store, but it's free, but there's only one, so if someone is inside, you have to wait and the inside doesn't look that clean.

Fish and chips, there is something more typical of London to eat. Classic restaurant for this type of food, don't expect a glamorous restaurant, but rather a familiar one with exquisite treatment from its staff. I liked it a lot, I recommend it if you are in the area, you will feel comfortable enjoying a typical meal.

While I’m no expert on fish & chips, I’m not a novice either, and I will say hands down this is the best chip shop I’ve been to. The chips were a perfect balance of crisp and soft, the fish had a nice crust with flavorful fish that was cooked to perfection. The tartare sauce was amazing as well. The portions of everything were more than enough and while I was hesitant due to the prices, the portions more than made up for it. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice as well and the staff was very friendly. I heard some people say the food takes too long, but I’d rather wait than have food that wasn’t cooked fresh to order.

We were welcomed by Eden, Aurore and Maria in a very friendly manner. Eden and Aurore speak French, they help to better understand the menu. We were very well advised. The portions are generous, everything is homemade even the fries and it's the best fish and chips we've eaten. Looking forward to another meal in this restaurant during our next stay in London.

A place specializing in fish & chips, it offers a wide variety of dishes including vegan options. Personally I tried the real fish & chips of both Cod and Hammock, both very good, the frying is very crunchy and light, not at all soaked in oil (as is usually the case in poor restaurants). The atmosphere is reminiscent of an American diner, white tiles on the walls and black and white on the floor. The waiters are very kind and helpful. Prices are reasonable, average for London, fish & chips: £17.45. Advised!

Absolutely the best!! The food is delicious and the best we had in London. Adrian the head chef has the cooking down to a science. He spent a lot of time talking to me about the process and it’s evident he puts his heart and soul into Golden Union. One of the best experiences we had in London, and we will definitely go again!

One of the best fish and chips meals I’ve ever had. I was craving fish and chips and saw this place was near our hotel, so figured I’d pop in. I ordered the cod and chips, and it was delicious! It was made to order so it was super duper hot and fresh when I got it. The batter was nice and crisp and had a nice flavor to it. Fish was nice and white, soft, and melt in your mouth. This place got super busy, so service to check out was a little slow, but overall it was a good experience.

Food is amazing...but...no mobile network within the venue when eating in...prevents me going there as even on breaks I need to be reachable If they would offer wifi would make it totally perfect...! Atmosphere 1* is for the fact of being unreachable when using the venue...its 2024!!!!
