By far the best Chinese takeaway in Bridgwater, We have been going here for years and never had a single issue with the food. Recently though the young lady who takes the order has a stinking attitude.

We went because the establishment was recommended by a friend and the food was supposed to be good. The first thing to know is that they DON'T deliver or take any card payments - strictly cash (or bank transfer!). We returned home and found the food sadly lacking..The Singapore rice and the salt and pepper ribs both lacked spice and the sweet and sour pork tasted like prawn. We also were a pancake rool short. Over all this was a disappointing experience.

First visit after being recommended by my son, and it lived up to my expectations. Freshly cooked tasty food. Piping hot 🔥 And decent sized portions. A great recommendation

Well if you want prawn toast , there’s no prawn in it , all I could toast was chicken . Also order 1/4 crispy duck with pancakes didn’t get the pancakes and it was cold . Chicken and sweetcorn soup was very watery. I’ve had some not so good Chinese take away , and brilliant takeaways . This one didn’t deserve I one star . Did call them back but they said there English wasn’t good and put the phone down . Wish I’d of gone to Tesco .

Been coming for years always clean, if ordering before you get there they tell you how long it should be. Front staff are welcoming.

Had food from here a long time ago and didn’t find it that great. So have been going elsewhere. I thought I would try it again this week and I was very impressed and will be using this as my go to now. The food was tasty, not greasy and ready super fast. Did a phone in for a collection and was ready in 15 minutes. I found the service was great and the food was really well priced! They have also changed the prawn crackers to the real thick ones which are the best. (I’m very fussy about prawn crackers) Cannot wait for the next take away night!

First I would like to say that this has easily become my favorite place to eat. The food is always for fresh and very tasty. Never had a bad experience with this place ❤️ tomorrow we will be getting out weekly dinner from here and I can’t wait

Very disappointed as I ordered chicken sweet and sour Hong Kong style, got home to half a container, where is the rest of my dinner! To have five pieces of chicken, rip off price.

Food is good. Only marked down a star because they're currently closed for a month (til end of July 23) and haven't updated their Google status, so I walked over there, read the notice on the door and came home hungry

This was our first try after a recommendation and we couldn’t have been more disappointed. It is nice and local so we had great hopes but our Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onions went in the bin after a quick taste. The Chicken had the consistency of chewy rubber and was inedible. The Egg Fried Rice was brown with a couple of minute bits of egg that also finished up in the bin. What a waste of money, we won’t be trying this Chine again.

Came here for a takeaway whilst overnighting in Bridgwater and this one came up as best reviewed locally. I wasn't disappointed. Ordered a KP Curry - traditional and the right taste with plenty of prawns - Boiled rice was nice and sticky as it should be. My wife had the special Chow Mein - Meat pieces quite small but very tasty and well-balanced. It's in the middle of a housing estate but in my experience, that's not a bad thing - After all, it wouldn't be there if it was ropey. Recommended if you need a Chinese Takeaway in the area.

Food improved after a glitch with new owners, back to a good standard, best to order in advance to save a long wait by just turning up.

First time we've tried here - and a long time since we had a Chinese. Pleased to say really excellent Dinner for Two. Generous helpings - enough for three. The meal was ready to pick up as ordered - no waiting. And the containers we can use again for our freezer. Will definitely be back.

First time we tried it here and were not disappointed. Welcoming staff, good menu, tasty food and good value. What is also important, they have food hygiene rating 5 out of 5. Will definitely be coming back.

Very disappointing curry tonight not the usual full of flavour as it was very bland , fried rice also lacking flavour and cold , golden pond , what has happened to your normally lovely food ?

Ordered Chinese for 4 Takeaway said all there Drove all the way home only to discover two things missing and one thing wrong Phoned them up to be told will make a note of it O nooo I had to go out again to pick it up otherwise one person had no food !!! Not happy ...

A wistful family run Chinese. Upon entering the building its well decorated and very clean. Don't expect the food lightening quick as it's all cooked to order. I would be annoyed if a Chinese got my food too quickly. Plenty of choice on the menu with great quality food and good portion sizes . Well worth a visit !

Really disapointed .. Been using this Chinese takeaway for years with no fault at all but tonight we ordered Chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken balls and you would of thought they were last nights recooked , the chicken balls batter was really over cooked the chicken inside was really tough ! This isn't the first time recently this has happened , don't think i'll be using it anymore . :(

Food is really good allow don't like the huge onion chunks, wasn't impressed how long it took to get order guy in front of me ordered chips and curry sauce and waited 30 mins

Beef chop suey was not horrible it wasnt even the correct sauce it was sweet and sour sauce with a bit of beef in it and the egg fried rice was just standard rice the service was also terrible started arguing with customers.

Overall a great place to go to.

Food is always hot and the Staff are polite and smiley. We tend to order the same every time. Their house special chow mein is very good and the chicken balls are great. The beef in black bean which was fairly average but tender and the pricing was fair. We have ordered from them a lot and they seem consistently good +

Stopped here on a thursday evening at 7pm. Young girl serving very polite, food ordered amd served within 5 minutes. Beautifully hot and tasty! Great chinese

We usually have very pleasant food from here. With a relatively short waiting time. The waiting area is always clean and tidy with friendly front of house staff. Unfortunately they don't take credit or debit cards, cash only! They also offer a home delivery service.

Took 4-5 calls before my call was answered, order taken and advised 20-25mins, 45+mins later it was ready, cash ONLY was disappointed and dated, BUT the food was nice

Always Quick, great, consistent food. Food ready within 10/15 minutes every time, never had to wait longer. Why you would sit and wait 45 minutes for chips I will never know.... one of the best.

Terrible service. Sat there for 45minuets waiting for a portion of chips. And they completely forgot about me. Left in fed and without my order. Won't be going back there again.

A really great Chinese with a large choice. Had take out a number of times and can't fault it. The set menus are varied and range from 2 - 6 people. Friendly staff with a fast cook time if you collect. I would rate five stars, however it's cash only so you need to plan ahead (or hit up the cash point/cash back facilities in the coop next door!).

Authentic Chinese food cooked fresh. It has to be the MOST SCRUMPTIOUS Chinese meal I've ever tasted since living in the UK for the past 14 years. Hubby and I came here on a dear friend's recommendation. Decor and ambience of the waiting area were lovely. Linda, who took our order, was friendly, helpful and patient. Her husband, working hard in the kitchen, has got to be an award-winning chef. This may sound absurd, but the food I've ordered tonight (Malay King prawns with lemongrass, veggie fried rice and Thai fish cakes) was so delicious that I think it's even better than those offered at some restaurants and eateries in HK and other parts of Asia! Hands down, Golden Pond is a winner and deserves far more stars than Google allows. Well done, guys! Keep up the good work. And in case, you've not noticed, we've just become one of your (many, I'm sure) regulars. ;)

I have had Chinese food in take away's across the south of the country, all of the local ones in town and surrounding areas. I've been to Beijing and dined in the top 5 star restaurants in and out of the Capitol and also the World trade centre in Hong Kong along with many others in Hong Kong (I'm Married to a Beautiful Chinese girl). Now the Golden Pond creates a Meal far above and beyond and is comparable to the quality of the food in the top restaurants in China. Except this is Saturday night after a long week and work, I'm sober, was Hungry and ready for bed. Had to write this review first. Can I give 100 stars.
