Golden Plaice in Worthing

Would highly recommend, great fish and chips and kebabs. We have started to come regularly and can't fault it, great customer service and lovely food

So, stuck indoors & hungry, where’s the best fish & chip shop in Worthing I ask my friends, Golden Plaice comes the reply. Ordered (& paid) online, timely knock at the door with piping hot food from a ‘busy’ but very friendly gentleman. Everything I expected and more. Well thought out packaging & so much that for me I was able to leave enough for a later feed! If you’re local use them?

Ordered OAP fish and chips along with other meals for family. Can’t comment on what the others tasted like but, like my own, they were cold and looked totally unappetising. The delivery was 20 minutes past promised time and we had to ring to ask where it was. When it got here my meal was disgusting. The fish was warm at best, the batter tasted like rubber and the chips looked like the scrapings out of the bottom of the fryer!! I had to microwave them before I could even attempt to eat them and spent the rest of the evening with stomach pains regretting my decision to try a new fish shop. NEVER AGAIN - truly awful experience and much more expensive than my local chippy.

First time using online ordering and most definitely the last. In fact the last time I will use this outlet. Food ordered at 5.30pm for delivery at 6.45pm. No sign of food at 7pm, so I telephoned. Very helpful young lady tried to locate my order but couldn't so she said they would cook it again, but I would need to collect. Not a problem! However, when we went to collect, the manager refused to fulfil the order as he claimed we had put the wrong address on the order! He also claimed it was delivered. If it was delivered to the wrong address, surely they would have phoned the telephone number on the order to find out where it was meant to go! Shocking service - very bad attitude.

We ordered chips and curry sauce, I wasn’t sure about getting food from here because of the reviews but they were delicious. Probably the best chips I’ve had from Worthing in such a long time!

Just spent £20 on the biggest pile of poo ever, some might think salad and sauce separate from the kebab meat is a good idea but when you add cold salad and sauce to already near cold meat once delivered and a pitta that isn’t even open to add the cold salad and meat too, then that’s a recipe for disaster, everything was cold. Orderd two kids meals as well and no drink and don’t get me started on the chips, worst chips I’ve ever received, there was hardly any edible chips in the portion, I will never ever order from here again🤬

Got so much more than I expected. I only ordered fish and chips but ended up with fish chips and a weed tin containing a pre rolled cigarette and some green. Suspect it was the delivery drivers but they never returned for it so perhaps it was a store promotion. Only 4 star as the fish was slightly chewy

Ordered through Uber eats took a chance as have never used this restaurant before. The food arrived piping hot lovely and fresh. The portion of chips was very generous we ordered a regular each (there was a large option) but the regular would feed two people easy! Burger and saveloy were yummy too! Food arrived within half an hour and delivery driver was lovely and very friendly. Would 100% order again!

Ordered through Just Eat.Promised at 18.40 arrived at 20.00 terrible service never order here again. Just eat denied this occurred refused refund !

Doner meat off, taste disgusting, foul. Chips chewy, hard in middle, burger buns stale. Gone right down hill, will not order again, ruined mealtime, 45 extra mins for refund.

Ordered food at 6.20pm. Delivery time stated it was going to be around 7pm. By 7.30pm phoned the restaurant where they said that it would be a further 15 mins. Also over heard them trying to find the order. Waited for a further 30 mins and still nothing. Phoned them again after many attempts they finally answered and said it was on its way. By this time I'd had enough time waiting and had contacted JE and had the order cancelled and refunded. The meal turned up at 8.20pm. That's 2 hours after I first ordered. Don't know what the food was like as the delivery driver was sent back with it. There was no apology at any point and the driver hadn't even been informed that the order that he was carrying was late. Would never order from them again. If you can't deliver and be honest at times as you are too busy then don't accept the orders. If you order from here best do it the day before as it might then get to you on time

I messed up the order(forgot the fish!),didn’t check the order and rang to complain.They were very helpful and apologised.Then I rang back to say sorry and it was my fault.They sent the fish out anyway and didn’t want to take the money for it.I paid anyway.Very impressed all round.Highly recommended

I use this restaurant a lot even though quite a few times it has late delivery. It's good value for money. Just wish they would deliver on time. It seems to be worse for delivery when using just eat. But it can still be bad even if you call them direct

Food was late, but I wish it'd never arrived! Even the dog turned his nose up - chips and sausages definitely reheated, and tasted awful.. Delivery driver was lovely, shame the food was so bad, won't be ordering from them again

Overall the food was great, not as greasy as most . Delivered cheerily with a smile in torrential rain. First time buying from here ,we will be back.

I placed this order at 6pm and asked for it to be delivered at 9:30pm, I rang the restaurant at 9:40 and was told the order was on its way, I then left it 20 minutes and still no food, I rang the restaurant again and was told they would find out where it is. the order was late by 45 minutes. how can it be so late when I placed the order 3 1/2 hours before the arrival time. made me rethink where I’ll be ordering from next

I would consider myself a regular at this place, I order once maybe twice a week. Tonight they let me down. Food is usually really good and on time but when they get busy they really struggle. I ordered my food at 8:30 was no sign of it at 9:35 so gave them a call. They said it was out and on its way. 20 minutes later still nothing, called again and was told on its way. Ten minutes after that food finally arrived. I did receive a bottle of coke as a jester for food being late, but food was cold and soggy I had to re heat. I’m not impressed as I spent £25 on a fast delivery that I had to re heat and wasn’t up to the usual standard. To be honest I ended up given most of it to the dog! Just very disappointed, think I be staying away for a while as this is not the first time. This is not always a 1 star service for food quality and delivery time, just this evening certainly was. This place is usually my go to place for take out.

I call him window man, this delivery driver knows who I mean! I mentioned (not complained) about something from my last delivery on my order this evening and he really did go above and beyond tonight. The food was piping hot and salad extremely fresh. My favourite for wraps ever and I've tried a fair few around this area. Thanks window man and Golden Plaice!! 😁😁👍

As my first time ordering from this place, I was quite pleased. I had my food arrive early, of which had good portion sizes (really, my medium sized cod fish was as big as a large code) and the chips, though they were not perfection, were bearable to consume. Some were far too crunchy/burnt, but mostly they were fluffy inside however had noticeable discolouring to it (like a brown/dark-yellow colour). Overall, it was alright but the highlight and the unique selling point of this place is the large portion sizes.

Nice enough delivery driver and food arrived early. unfortunately for us, the food just wasn’t up to standard. chips where hard in the middle. I personally think undercooked. cod wasn’t very crispy. savaloy went in the bin. sorry but won’t be ordering again. good portions though.

Ordered food at 7.40 with a quoted time for delivery of 8.30. 8.30 came and went so I phone the shop to be told it would be delivered in 25 minutes. Phoned again at 9.10 and told driver is out with food. Currently 9.40 and I finally receive my food. Chips cold and soggy, burger bun's stale, battered sausage cold and batter not crispy. Cold drink put in SAME BAG AS FOOD! No wonder it was stone cold when it got here. First and last time ordering form here and want a refund. Quick Eat? Ha, good one!

been going to golden plaice for 13+ years beginning of the year was not impressed and didn’t reorder till the other days because the rest kebab places aren’t as good and I thought give em another chance and learnt the original owner has came back and it has gone great again very pleased and will be ordering as I usually did *bests kebabs in Worthing*❤️❤️❤️

Waited over an hour and food arrived 10 mins late. Both meals were cold but after waiting so long didn't want to waste more time calling. Chips were undercooked and hard. Normally good food from here but not today!

THANKYOU!!!! I got my salad in a separate pot, it was fresh, crispy and very tasty!!! Wrap was lovely without the salad in it too!! Have you changed your chips as they didn't seem the same as your usual? Same shaped etc etc. No where near as nice/tasty as your proper chip shop chips?? .....

When it arrived the order was cold and not correct

I was close to complaining last order... I ordered simply... 2 chicken wraps no salad, no sauce and 1 chicken wrap, salad, no sauce. On the information I put as I do every single time. Please put salad in separate pots Thankyou. We got 2 wraps plain, one with salad inside and 3 pots of salad?? I'm bored of getting melted salad. Tonights Meal was 15 mins late (waited 1hr) I ordered 1 chicken wrap, no salad, no sauce, small chips and 4 cans?? That was all. It was luke warm and wrapping was wet through. Chips hard to put on plate and the wet paper stuck to them. The best bit about this meal was the cans of drink!! Extremely disappointed from the last two orders. I will say the lady who delivered is always lovely. That will be why my review is higher than a 1.

I asked for salad with the shish but it came with a soggy pita bread and no salad.

2nd time we've used Golden Plaice and both times thoroughly enjoyed 1st time we collected 2nd time had delivered not disappointed at all . Our new fish and chips shop 😁😁

Some of the food was pretty poor to be honest. Garlic bread and mushrooms were perfect But £4 for a cheeseburger which has about 80% salad content and £4.90 for a chicken wrap, which again, is mostly salad, isn't worth it.

Under cooked chips and grisly chicken. I've been told it's under new management. So management please read this.... The last 2 orders were poor. I asked for salad in separate pots and got it warm and cooked inside our wraps. I phoned you and there was no answer, so we had to scrape it out and eat as best we could. I told your delivery driver last time and he just said sorry. No offer at all of a free wrap or anything when we spent nearly £20 for our food. I've eaten your food tonight and grisly chicken and under cooked chips. Very sad as I order weekly.

Finally after 2 years of living in Worthing I have found a place that does a nice donner Kebab. Cooked exactly how I asked them to, cut freshly and nice and thin. I have tried every kebab shop in Worthing and this is the best by far, if they can keep these standards up they will have earnt themselves a very good customer! 😀

Cod was fantastic the chips were a bit hard and chewy had to pay an extra £2 for delivery?

Usually have fantastic, hot, good quality food from Golden Plaice which is why I'd order from them again. The food last night was only lukewarm and took ages for delivery though. Maybe it was a one off so prepared to give them another chance.

Though the chicken wrap and chips were very tasty and well cooked the pizza was greasy and flavourless and the box had clearly been tipped on its side resulting in the pizza being a rolled up mess.

Really good will definitely order again!

I have only previously ordered fish and chips, which are always delicious. This time I thought I would try a kebab and was not disappointed. The chicken was tasty, generous topping of garlic mayo and lovely fresh salad. Best kebab I have ever ordered.

think it would have been much nicer if delivered on time. was 10 mins late and cold.... and btw - how is one expected to rate the restaurant service when it was a takeaway??

Great food, only negative is there appears to be an issue with the bacon cheeseburger menu listing on just eat, it's advertised as: Double burger, double cheese & double bacon But you don't get double anything, it's just a regular (albeit tasty) single patty/cheese/bacon burger.
