Golden Phoenix in South Ribble

Really, really, REALLY low quality food, ordered a special chow mein and received tiny shrimps an egg that had been sitting about for a week 2 dry pieces of chicken and that was about it. No veg, not a wiff of a bamboo shoot or water chestnut or onion. The quarter of duck was tasteless and the pancakes were raw and welded together so they just ripped apart. Avoid at all costs and just for the record the free prawn crackers tasted of dirty oil that needed changing. Once upon a time this place used to be reasonably good, but not anymore. Shame!!!!! When i rang them to give them feedback and constructive critisism they were not interested, and put the phone down. You've been warned!!!!!

Ordered by telephone so hadn’t realised it had changed management. Chicken Chow Mein was awful. Just noodles and lumps of chicken with a few slices of onion, no other veg etc. Really salty. Wish I had read previous reviews. £2. for a small gravy - expensive too. Definitely not be returning.

This business has been under new management for a few months now. First time visit recently to order a takeaway. Requested 1 x chicken curry and boiled rice. No complaints with the dish, tasty and fresh. There was no wait time as no queue. My order was ready within 10 minutes. The staff member was pleasant and friendly. The takeaway appeared organised and clean. Payment is by cash or card ! I will order again and will recommend it to family and friends.

The new management should be fired we've been ordering from here since before it was called golden phoenix it used to be called golden bird before it set on fire the best dish was special fried rice with barbecue sauce definitely lost customers they might as well lock the door and throw the keys away the special fried rice was excellent and the best seller

Just got family tea costing £40 . Absolutely awfull ordered the same as we normally get from the old owners . Mixed curry 2x prawns 3x pieces of chicken and 3x pieces of beef that is a poor mixed curry contents will not be entertaining this place again .

Really disappointing to say I won't return again. Change of management and it's dropped in standards massively. I used to use Great Wall and Golden Phoenix it will be Great Wall from now on. Missed items and the portion size has dropped think I found about 8 pieces of beef in my meal. Such a shame hope they see these bad reviews and change for the good.

This was the worst Chinese takeaway we have both had....the curry was like a pea soup so thin and pretty tasteless....I wouldn't recommend anything....used to be very good but I think a change of ownership has crippled it 🥺

Under new management. They have plant pots in the food warmer…says it all. Food was awful, nowhere near on par as it used to be, sadly won’t be returning again

Ordered on sat as under new management,my special fried rice was a tub of bolled rice with some veg thrown on the top,chips were soggy the whole meal was awful,which is a shame as it used to be nice£30 and couldnt eat it

What has happened to this takeaway? Looks like changes made. Flowers inside the food warmers ? Just ordered our usual not been for a couple of months and it was awful. Frozen chips reduced portions and dish just full of onions. Sorry to say it’s my final visit here after many years of my custom.

spent £34 at this takeaway tonight and safe to say what a waste! ordered a munch box for the chips and chicken to be mushy and overly greasy. the rice and noodles had no taste at all and tasted like pure fat and oil, the spring roll tasted absolutely horrible. the duck was tough and dry. the curry sauce had a full layer of oil on top and had no taste of curry whatsoever, basically like everthing else tasting like oil. not happy at all would not recommend

This was my favorite curry sauce but today they have changed it and it has no taste whatsoever I'm really disappointed I hope enough people complain so they change back to the old curry sauce. How on earth can you make curry tasteless

We ordered for here and it looked like there was love made by this, our food looked like it was raw and we ordered chill and garlic sauce and it was lumpy

The crispy duck was amazing and not fatty, come with with onion, cucumber and sauce , plenty of it, just wished there was more pancakes as the duck had lots of meat on. I also ordered a beef in black pepper sauce with green peppers and mushrooms, the beef was tender. Expensive but worth every penny, food arrive on time.

Below average Chinese take-away. Very stingy with the meat portioning, and everything is cut into cubes. Had to throw the pancake roll in the bin, it had a plastic burning taste to it. Quite disappointed really 😕 and will avoid in future.

Ordered via Uber and food was delivered early which is always a welcome bonus on a Saturday evening with starving kids! Food was very good, very generous portions and pretty cheaply priced. Chicken satay was good. Nice salt n pepper chips and basically did what it said on the tin 👍

Shocking! Literally threw the meals away, it smells and tastes like it was cooked in a Blackpool cafe back in 1999 when chefs could smoke whilst cooking! Imagine you ordered a chineese of wish, paint the picture. If you are of chinnese origin please reach out to your elders for some inspiration and advice because your food is either half arsed or your nieve.

Absolutely gutted 😞. Ordered a munch box. Very very disappointed. The battered meat was fatty and tasteless. The salt and pepper chips were greasy. The rice and noodle dishes tasted ‘old’ and dry. I rang them and although they offered half off next order, I must say that there won’t be a next time. 20 pound wasted and in the bin. Was meant to be a treat. Total waste of money.

Went in here 12th Nov 22 ordered chicken curry chicken chow mein worst ever curry didn't even have curry flavour was grey in colour mixed with boiled rice was like thick semolina pudding with gravy flavour straight in bin chow mein was burnt long noodles horribly dryed out again straight in bin id give 0 out of 10

Ordered for the first time on Monday. Char siu curry was great kids adored the chips salt n pepper combo box brilliant. My new favourite takeaway

Ive tried every Chinese in leyland and this is the best. Best food, best prices, best service. Munchie boxes are great

Normally golden pheonix is my go to chinese in leyland but last night was lacklustre. Ordered a large selection of salt and pepper ribs,chips and chicken and the chips were just peppers on the bottom of a tray with chips chucked on top and the ribs and chicken was deep fried to an inch of its life so much that wasnt even edible. The prawn toast also was so over cooked the sesame seed and prawn just came off when we tried eating them. Very disappointed.

Been going here for here for 5 years and it's always been good.had various things off the menu but most often chicken and pineapple with boiled rice which is as nice as anywhere else. What more can I say, its good and that's why I go back.

Had salt and pepper box delivered tonight chicken ball's, one wasn't cooked and the curry sauce was very very salty, not edible went in the bin. This was the first order will not be ordering again.

Wow just had an amazing meal especially the spare ribs the sauce was dark and thick like treacle so tasty special chow mein and sweet and sour chicken amazing the only thing was the prawn crackers was stale but 10/10 xxx

Called in late last night after taking and waiting with a friend at Chorley A&E. Hadn't eaten since lunchtime so I was starving. Ordered fish and chips and these were cooked whilst I waited. The chips were okay but the fish was like mush inside the batter. I left most of it. Woke up this morning feeling queasy and have spent the last few hours intermittently sat on the toilet. Won't go into details but it's not good. Will not be using this establishment in the future.

Always fresh and tasty. Good food, reasonable prices. Best in area.

First time we visited today we had the special fried rice (reccomend that You get the sauce seperate from the rice as You only need a bit )it was the best we have tried,from preston to feutuventura dont try any were else, go here You will be more than happy
