Golden Phoenix in South Hams

Order food here and after an hour and a half still hadn’t receive so rang them and they told me it had been delivered? They then told me it went to the wrong location but they were going to pick it and do a fresh one I was absolutely okay with the wait as long as it was going to be fresh When it arrived it was cold the sauces had turned into a jelly like consistency. The prawn crackers were stale and chewy and the noodles were FREEZING Rang them back and they started arguing trying to tell me it was “fresh” despite it been delivered to me within 10mins of them realising it went to the wrong location Absolutely never going back

Bland, cold, over priced, parts of order missing and downright rude and ignorant staff. I would not use this take away again if my life depended on it! Do yourself a favour and steer very clear of this establishment!

Despite negative reviews we think this Chinese is lovely, although a little pricey, it’s worth it. The food is always piping hot and fresh and actually tastes good unlike the other takeaways in Totnes. Great service and foods always been perfect

I ordered from golden Phoenix waiting and 1.5 hour for food it turns up freezing cold, spring rolls not cooked, raw prawns in are special fried rice. I called up to complain and get a refund she said we have to give the food back which was okay as we have put it in the bin and then got told “I’ll only give you half your money back as it has cost me money to cook the food I can’t help it’s not done” this is absolutely appalling customer always right….? I’ll never come here again

Not clear that their free prawn crackers on orders over certain amount only applied Mon-Thurs. Wouldnt honour it even though only £1 away from amount required. This on it's own isnt the end of the world (although I was surprised by their stubbornness!) But the food we received was really not good at all. As previous reviewers have stated, chicken (and the other meats) were really tough and sauces flavourless and watery. Wish I could get my £30 back. Last time we'll be ordering from them. Worst of all...I'm still hungry! MSG?!

I ordered from this takeaway but the food was terrible. It was really awful to look at and tasted disgusting. The chicken was hard and chewy, the sauces watery and tasteless. To add insult, I advised the lady who took our order that the food was bad, only to be insulted verbally and told that they know their food was bad but they tried there best. Shocked was an understatement. Sorry but this place is very poor and the customer service was quite appalling. Don’t order from this takeaway, there are much better establishments in Totnes.

Absolutely disgusting!! Food is absolutely gross, I called and complained and the person who answered the phone, rather than address the issues called me a bitch and threatened to call the police! Good service can make up for good food, and bad service can make up for good food. We had neither!

Had a delivery and roast breast of chicken was so tough we thought they had given us pork in error. Called to say there was an error only to be told it was chicken! If so the chicken was inedible. They said we could pay £5 for it to be collected and then they would refund the dish???

Service charge of 50p. Whats that about. I paid cash. Its a con and a scam. Why. Whats it for. Meal was fine but don't be conned out of 50p.

We placed a very large order for a timed delivery. My order was read back to me and confirmed. The delivery arrived 40 minutes early, and we were not all present and ready, which was disappointing. What was more disappointing is that we were missing three portions of a dish, unfortunately this was for children which upset me more. When I called to inform them I was told this was my fault, and the order had been read back to me and confirmed. I cannot complain about the foods taste or quality, but the missing items and attitude have led to this review. The whole experience felt like we will take your money and deliver when and what we like! Really disappointing. Be cautious using this establishment.

We drive from 20 minutes away just to go for Golden Phoenix. Really really well made food, so tasty. Yes prices are a little higher than the others, but you pay for what you get. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Avoid this place very overpriced and poor food that's if you get the right order the first time, customer services leaves a lot to be desired, they are at least £2 per item more expensive than any similar takeaway in the local area

We have had 4 or more take aways and their Chow mein is excellent The duck including their crispy duck starter has been good. Also the fritters are good. The collection service during lockdown worked well. Good local takeaway.
