Weve had chinese here a few times and the Food has always been nothing short of amazing, its always fresh, hot and delicious. The crispy chilli beef & beef and red pepper chow mein is so good! the staff are always friendly and helpful on the occasions we’ve been. We actually drive from 15/20 minutes away to get food from here so that says something in itself.

The food was nice but long waiting time for a Wednesday and they have a dog in the kitchen

Ordered a delivery as a treat . Arrived 2.5 hours later after two phone calls to chase up . Two items missing, phoned to inform the establishment and they would not accept their error and argued with the customer.

Food was expensive for what we had better Chinese takeaway at home

The food itself was decent , raw vegetables but still digestible, the prawn crackers and sweet&sour chicken were top💯💯💯. However I did get an eerie feeling after (i’m guessing an associate of the restaurant) 5’4, 13-16 year old boy under the name of Zach attempted to inappropriately touch me , as you could guess I was alarmed and yet flattered that such a handsome young boy would want me in my grown years, but still, I left as quickly as possible.

Arrived to order good and had to wait while they constantly deal with telephone orders and ignore customers in shop until finished. Ordered food,paid then got told 35-40 minute wait. Tell me before i pay and I'll go elsewhere if there is that long a wait. Portions are now a lot smaller and a lot dearer. Food wasn't up to much and the flavour was not good at all. Hardly any meat in a special chow mein,should be called noodles with a few bits of meat in it. Crispy chilli beef to hard and chewy. Not a good experience with my food this time.

First time ordering here, great menu selection. We ordered S&S chicken Hong Kong style, king prawn cashew, broccoli garlic in oyster sauce, egg fried rice, beansprout and noodles plus some sides. The meal was perfect, delicious and perfectly seasoned. The beansprout and noodle was particularly delicious. The sweet and sour tasted home made, in the best way. The only reason it didn’t get 5 star was the egg fried rice that wasn’t very good with hardly any egg and too much oil. We’d 100% order again and maybe get the steamed rice instead.

Ordered 3 times over the last week. The first one was really good, the second not so good and last night absolutely disgusting. All our food was luke warm and under cooked. Today I have severe stomach cramps and sickness. We waited over an hour for our food. We spent £42 and it was absolutely shocking. we got offered a free chicken chow mein and spring rolls, which were the 2 meals that were under cooked. I would never order from here again, let alone eat a free meal from there. They wasn’t helpful at all when we called to let them know. Shocking take away stay away

I just tried my first take-away from here and it was excellent. I could tell the ingredients were decent quality and the chicken was really tasty with distinctive spices.

Never had a bad meal in the 9 years of buying our dinner here.

Superb king prawn chow mein & at 61 I’ve had a few!

They genuinely rang me at 22:30, almost 3 hours after delivering to ask for a £2 payment for delivery that they had forgotten, how embarrassing! Maybe if you opened on Tuesdays when the town's actually busy you wouldn't need to beg for a measly £2. Oh, and ask Santa for a mop this year so you can give the place a clean for once! hahaha

Absolutely delicious! We had the sweet & sour chicken with vegetable chow mein, the chicken pieces were huge & moist, the batter was so crispy & tasty too. The chow mein was filled with scrumptious vegetables & cooked perfectly. We did think a sweet & sour chicken dish automatically came with boiled rice but it doesn't...as it happens there was plenty of food & we didn't need it after all. Would highly recommend.

I go here literally every couple weeks and it gets better every time. Absolutely amazing. The salt and chili chips are spicy, VERY SPICY.

This is the second time this week I’ve come up after a long shift at work and they’ve closed earlier than advertised by a good hour which has caused me massive inconvenience. Would not recommend as they may just close without any pre warning.

This is our regular Chinese & often have take-aways. The menu choices are great & the food is of great quality. Their Beef Chow Mein with green peppers & black bean sauce is outstanding. They deliver to a fairly wide local area & the staff are really friendly. Highly recommended.

The food is good, and it is a house, that much is true. However the prices are just too high for a Chinese takeaway and charging 50p for each use of card payment rubs the salt in a bit.

We decided to have a takeaway curry but Cafe Mumbai had an hours wait, so switched to fish and chips but massive queue outside the shop (Albatross shut) so opted for a Chinese from the Good Food House. Big mistake. The set meal for two has to be the worst Chinese meal I’ve ever tasted. Raw vegetables, very little taste apart from a black bean sauce which comprised mainly of salt, partly eaten, remainder destined for the bin. The sweet and sour chicken was the only reasonably edible item and the prawn crackers were OK but on the whole it tasted as if it had been reheated several times. Never going there again, waste of money.

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Looking forward to a nice takeaway on Monday night but sadly the usual (Cafe Asia) was shut. The Kung Po chicken was inedible and even the smell was enough to tell us it was going to be horrendous. - please rename “Kung Poo chicken”. There was nothing special about the special fried rice, horrible sauce, strange looking bits of meat. Chilli beef was the worst I’ve had. Duck chow mien and the fortune cookies were the only alright thing. Definitely Not a good food house. Oh and the lady that wouldn’t let me pay by card, wanted cash or a bank transfer 😂 made me laugh that did. Cheers

Absolutely the worst Chinese meal I have had in many many years. Possibly ever! Ordered 3 dishes, egg fried rice and spring rolls. The spring rolls were partly burnt and partly undercooked, takes a special culinary talent to manage that. The king prawn tomato dish was unbelievably salty, the Thai squid was way undercooked and the batter was soggy and the squid rubbery. Beef and black bean sauce tasted like cardboard. The only acceptable part of the meal was the rice. A year ago I'd have happily ordered from here or the Phoenix and not been too bothered about which, expecting a decent meal from either. This was just unacceptable. I will not be back.

I ordered a delivery meal today, and it came rapidly and even before their delivery window which was fantastic. The portions were huge and it tasted good. All the staff I dealt with when placing my order and receiving my delivery were great - very polite and professional.

We as a family regularly order from you! Last time a few weeks ago the chips had been cooked multiple times and the beef and tomato sauce was lumpy and tasted more like gravy! So this time we thought ok give them another chance (they may have been having a bad day!) so this evening phoned through a substantial order for collection! Girl on the phone replied by saying it’s cash only £72.90 be ready in 35 minutes! Great... so hubby went in to collect order, took his money! Girl then came out and said they had made a mistake and we owed another £17.00! Hubby said that he had brought in correct cash as requested and didn’t have any other money... he then asked to speak to the manager! Apparently manager came out of the kitchen very aggressively saying that if we didn’t pay the extra we wouldn’t be getting our food! There was no compromise to be had even though it was your mistake not ours! She then asked if hubby had a credit card he could pay on that even though previously it had been cash only!! Unfortunately for you we took our business elsewhere and will definitely not be returning! Your manager needs to learn a bit about customer service and to change her attitude if she wants to do well!! Very very disappointed customer!

Food was amazing! Except for the half chicken & chips (and a extra portion of chips, were over cooked, hard)! Daughter couldn't eat them. 😞 Friendly delivery driver, a smiley chap! 😀 🍚 🥢 🦆 🐔 🥩 Would of been five stars ✨ but, fair enough the chicken was dry, same as the chips were cooked too long!

We had a takeaway on Saturday evening. Spring rolls, and Thai Green Chicken Curry .Better than we were expecting. The curry was hot, ok for me, but a bit too hot for my wife. Ample portions ; one portion was sufficient for the two of us ! Food was 10 minutes late. Amazed to be told that there was an extra charge of 50p if you paid by debit card. Never been told that before.

Worst Chinese I have ever had, hardly any sauce, raw uncooked onions that where just dumped in there cold, two tiny bits of peppers that where shrivelled up old and rotten, can't even cook a chip they where like rubber .Don't not order from this place, absloute robbery.

Food was terrible. Soup was incredibly salty and other dished overcooked to a point of inedible. No attempt to reconcile issues with quality of food either.

Ordered delivery and was sadly disappointed with the quality of the food and then the customer service. Better options elsewhere in Totnes. Crispy beef was incredibly overdone and was told this is how it was cooked...I don't think blackened meat that is too hard to chew is how it should taste.

I’m not one for writing bad reviews but this has got to be the worst food I’ve ever eaten. Dripping in grease, cold and bland. The vegetables were virtually raw. Completely inedible and a total waste of money.

I have been eating Chinese food for over 50 years and this was one of the worst. Staff were friendly and helpful but the food was terrible. It only gets a one as site will not accept a zero. I ordered Kung Po and asked if could do pork - on opening beef. That would have been OK but it was almost inedible. Gravy like water and almost tasteless ahint of sweetness and spice but only a hint. The spring rolls had uncooked batter inside. My plain rice was OK. My friend had special fried rice which was a pot of black [expect drenched in soy] glutinous rice with cold slices of meat on top covered with a gravy which I would be doing Bisto a disservice by likening it to that product. Her chicken and cashew did not look appealing but she said OK [was she being polite as only ate half]. Surprised the people of Totnes use this establishment or do they know no better. I generaly hate the bad negative reviews that are posted as business have to be run but this food was appauling and I am a 'dustbin' -eat anything.

Not a patch on little Asia! Greasy, not a good taste. Fatty. not pleasant to eat at all! I had lots of takeaways but this ok if you're drunk, I guess?

Had a Chinese meal from here and it was ok. I had beef chow Mein and spare ribs. The spare ribs did not have a lot of taste. The chow Mein was full of beef and vegetables but a bit dry. Will try again with a different meal.

Whilst staying nearby we chose to have an evening in with a Chinese takeaway and the Good Food House was recommended Great choice with all our meals very good and good value too Would definitely return again

its great food BUT...pity dont tidy up front of building...it looks tatty and lets them down...wouldnt take much...windows look rotten too...fingers crossed will have face lift next year

Decided to roll the dice and try this place because Little Asia is closed on Mondays. Black bean duck was incredibly salty. The chicken was dry and chewy, tasted reheated. Waste of money!

The good thing about this place is that it is consistent. Sadly, consistently not that nice. Sadly also I love Chinese food. But every now and then I get something when other take aways are closed. Tried several things now. All so far disappointing. Must stop going!

I've just eaten (part) the worst Chow Mein ever! It looked and tasted as if it had been reheated from last week. Disgusting.

I phoned my order in, to a lovely friendly lady, I had the food delivered very quickly and it was exactly as I had expected, tasty traditional British Chinese food.Sometimes it is just what you feel like and this just hits the spot.Great value for money.

Food was fantastic and really generous and I would have given full stars but unfortunately the owner was not great at all and I won't order from here again on principal. I called at 2145 (delivery times between 1800 and 2200) for a delivery to a location 15 minutes down the road. I was initially charged £5 for delivery which wasn't an issue at all and the new guy who took our order was absolutely brilliant, really helpful and I asked if it was ok to deliver to here etc... all was fine, order accepted. The owner then called back 15 minutes later to tell me I had to pay an additional £5 (delivery charge now £10 total) for delivery because they would have to delivery out of hours (place closes at 2230, it's now 2200) plus order was agreed 15 minutes ago. I ordered well within the delivery times specified, they willingly took my order and then proceeded to try and charge me extra as they were delivering out of hours (which was not true). The owner then tried to tell me I needed to calculate the time and should have ordered earlier to give them more time. I refused the extra charge and she argued and insisted, so I cancelled my order on basis that I was miss informed and was well within the delivery times advertised and I would not have ordered if I had known they were going to charge me £10 for delivery. She then argued that they had already made the food (2200), this went on for about 10 minutes. She then backed down and gave it to me at the initial price (Inc. Initial £5 delivery charge) but only on this occasion and next time I had to order earlier...I suggested that perhaps she should change her website and tell her staff the correct information and not take orders after 2130 if this was the case, as I do not own a crystal ball. It is a real shame because I probably won't order from this place again on principal. -Ordered at 2145 -Delivery orders taken between 1800-2200 (place closes at 2230) -Order was checked and accepted. -Food was cooked by 2200 (according to owner) -Owner tried to charge me for out of hours -It was delivered to us at 2230 (by brilliant new guy) - extra charge for?! If you do order from here just make sure you have your wits about you and a crystal ball so you can work out correct ordering times.

I have been using this establishment for years, but last night after ordering different meals for 4 people I was shocked at the standard of the cooking, could not have been the same chef. Curries from here are usually very good but this time it was like dried powder, no sauce at all. The other meals such as special chow mein were dire, It was that bad we threw all four meals in the bin and I rang to complain ... politely !!! but the lady put the phone down on me. I phoned back and got a guy, all he said was sorry, and even when I told him on top of the issue that they had sent sweet and sour chicken instead of sweet & sour prawns they didn,t even attempt replacement or apology, I know I ordered prawn balls because they asked me if I wanted balls or Hong Kong style. Not the first time when something has gone wrong that they shun their responsibilities. I reckon we spend a grand plus here a year because we regularly have large orders for guests and generally use them once a fortnight at £35 a time plus. I will not be purchasing anything from these people again.....absolutely appalled at the standard and particularly their attitude... disgusted.

Favourite takeaway in the area, would recommend the sweet and sour king prawn balls.

Every year we come on holiday here and g e loved the food here saw the bad reviews but thought we would try it . The soup was lovely but the main courses were very bland no taste at all very disappointed .
