Friendly staff, great food at a reasonable price

Very disappointed spent over 50.00 hardly anything there. Two tiny little chop suey rolls£5.00 for two extortionate prices. Food not very hot never shop there again.

I wish i saw these comments before I ordered off Just Eat! Avoid...... Terrible quality and portion size is laughable....never again!

Just received a delivery from the Golden Pheonix on just eats. Delivery was late food was crushed (obviously last order in the bag) add to that it was like warm. Its only 0.8 mile away so the food had obviously travelled to other deliveries. It went in the bin. WOULD NEVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN !!!

Very good food every time. Been a few times and always enjoy the food and the service is speedy, overall good quality food.

Absolutely waste of money. This food was one of the worst I've ever eaten. Not one of the dishes had good consistency or any great flavour.I asked for a refund after tasting the food and I was advised they can't refund because we tasted it. I asked how it was possible to assess the quality of the food without tasting it, seriously! After expressing my dissatisfaction further she hung up on me. Absolute disgrace.

Always cold I have to reheat it

Absolutely terrible food & service. Tom Yum soup was just chicken & tomato soup that tasted disgusting. The delivery driver rude & when I rang to ask where the prawns were in the soup the girl said if you don’t like it don’t eat it and hung up!

Staff so rude. Delivery driver, rude Tom Yum soup was just chicken and tomato soup that was inedible. Crispy duck was mainly fat. I don’t usually complain, however it was so bad. I rang to ask what unearth the soup was. The girl told me Tom Yum soup doesn’t have prawns and it’s just chicken and tomato. She then said if I don’t like it don’t eat it and hung up

Ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Curry and Chips £17. Chips were absolutely awful. Refried old spuds, had to chuck the whole portion away. Won’t be back.

Bought a large portion of chips. Loads of black ones and to be honest they were vile.

Cannot fault the food. However the women who served me overcharged me. When I questioned her as to why she said that it was because the prices on the board are wrong and they had gone up. When asked someone else, they stated the same price as the board. However again when questioned she said she gave the wrong price and it was because I had asked for a large, even though the portion only comes in one size. Have since checked with the online menu and just eat( which I know is more expensive due to commission) however I was still charged more then both the just eat price and menu price. Really disappointed as I have been going to the golden phoneix for a long time but unfortunately due to being ripped off will not be returning.

Absolutely crazy prices in there ordered a fried rice chips & curry 2x boiled rice and curry large chips and 3 sausage £21.90 absolute joke and the rice chips and curry came in the smallest tray they have

Was disappointed as Golden Phoenix is not our locals Chinese we though we would try somewhere different. The chips where under cooked the won tons had barely any filling and chicken and sweetcorn soup was bland and a little tasteless. Considering the price I expected much better! I advise if ordering a Chinese go to Pings House in Upton.

Do not go here. Order took 4 hours to arrive. Ordered through just eat and after dozens of calls with no answer food arrived at 10 30pm after kids were asleep. They refused to refund the order. I have been before and food is bang average. Avoid at all costs

Following on from my previous post which I ended having just ordered from the Golden Phoenix I am happy to report that our food was delivered with 10 mins remaining of the estimate. We have also ordered again and the food arrived within 15 minutes, the estimate having been 30-45 .happy days !! As usual the food was delicious.

I am shocked at the bad reviews on this site for the Golden Phoenix. My family have been ordering from here for over 5 years and have enjoyed every meal. We think the sweet and sour is the best we’ve had and we have had this from lots of other chippies. Their chips are done just how I like them and their fish has crispy batter, lovely. It was on only one delivery where we waited for well over an hour but the food was still tasty and we were glad to eventually receive it. We understand that sometimes it is impossible to estimate a delivery time especially when you are really busy and this chippy is always busy. I have just ordered again now and I have been told 45 mins to an hour. Let’s see.

Absolutely ridiculous trying to order special fried rice twice ????? 1 with extra prawns couldn’t get what I was saying so I gave up………: really not that difficult is it??????????? Ffs

Spent over forty quid on dinner for four that I collected and took back to West Kirby. Order was correct and two of the meals were ok. The duck chow mein and vegetable chow mein were inedible due to salt. Don’t know if someone got distracted and double dosed the noodles or what but the kids picked the duck and vegetables out and the rest went in the bin. Has been OK in the past but last nights was grim. Daughter said “this is the worst takeaway I’ve ever had” which was a shame because she was really looking forward to it. I bought forty quids worth of disappointment.

Ordered a takeaway for family for a change. Was over an hour late. Food was cold and quality very poor. One of the children ordered sweet and sour - sauce was watery. I phoned up to find out what the delay was and asked if we could have some money back. Was told I could have an item free next time. There won’t be a next time. Won’t be wasting my money here again.

To be fair we've always ordered from here and liked the starter chefs special box. The prices though have been hiked up so they have list a loyal customer. I'm not paying £19 for a starter box- its a shame really.

A little disappointed if I am honest. I try to be the glass half full but I also like to be truthful. Food wasn't hot, warmish would be the best description. I have never ordered a Chinese takeaway and not received free prawn crackers, but tonight it happened. I always say anytime and with current situations I don't want to pick out the negatives but for the time it took I expected better. The food didn't have much flavour which would have redeemed them a little but sadly not

I went to this chippy this evening and I had a terrible experience with it when I first went in to order my food the young woman at the front huffed when I walked in and said what do you want, she never said hi or what would you like she was very rude, once I ordered salt and Pepper chips I opened them and I wasn’t happy with the way they looked or tasted I didn’t pay for them to be that way, they were dry and had nothing on them a few onions that’s it I asked for a refund and she was rude and said no there is nothing wrong with them, she said she will only give me £1.50 back this was not good enough as I was really not happy with the order, she then was raising her voice at me and my boyfriend calling is ridiculous, and a joke she then pulled her Phone out and started recording us without are permission, this was very weird and is actually illegal to video someone without there permission, I will NOT go back to this chippy ever again and I will definitely tell my friends and family how I was treated this evening honestly the worst customer service ever!

Awful service! After 1.5 hours of ordering received a phone call saying “we’ve got no fish we’re not coming” whole place is a joke, very unprofessional and ruined our evening, not even an apology. Don’t waste your time.

Food not consistent Chinese meals not the same every time you go there

Order came 2 and half hours late, vegetarian dish came had piece of chicken in. Rest of order was cold and over cooked. Got no help in complaining and they are not cooking food correctly if a vegetarian dish has meat mixed in.

Disgusting meal wouldn't recommend to anyone waste of money

Got the banquet which was meant to come with Yung chow rice and also ordered an additional fried rice. Neither included, ruins the meal and it was not cheap. No point in even complaining, as its too late. Try somewhere else.

I ordered a meal for family as it was my boyfriends birthday. I ordered on just eat. I ordered Chinese meals. I rang the shop to see if they could read out my order to me so I know they got it right. I asked if the Chinese meals came with fried rice she said no u have to order them separate and that the fried rice was 1.50 extra. I asked the girl if I could pay the driver 3.00 when he arrived she said yes. Order came gave the driver 3.00 for the rice. They completely got it wrong. We received beef curry, sweet n sour chicken, omelette. Large chips and chicken nuggets. What we ordered but no fried rice. And we had an extra deep fried shredded beef which he never ordered. Tried ringing them 78 times all ways used busy. Finally got threw an hr later. Told the girl what was missing. She said I will drop rice off I said I don’t want it as I had to put my own rice with it as been trying to contact them for an hr. she said I can keep the beef aswell. I said I don’t want the rice or beef. I said I paid 3.00 extra for rice to the driver. She said that the rice wasn’t ordered on just eat receipt I said I know I asked the girl if I could pay the driver the extra 3.00 for the rice and she said yes. They asked the driver and he said that I didn’t give him the 3.00 what a liar. Went mad at the girl on the phone and they are bringing my 3.00 back. I will never ever order from here again totally ruined our night and the food was only warm. And it cost us 35 pound disgusting service

If I could give a 0 star I would. Terrible Customer Service and clearly don’t care about customer retention. Got a delivery order wrong and charged for delivery also. Simply asked for deliver charge back and told no. Meal was ruined. Never again will they get my custom and hopefully other people’s. Shut the place down!

Just used this take away for the second time, and twice now we have had a terrible experience. First time, the meal was 2 hours late and when it arrived it was only warm. Last night my son went down to pick the meal up.when he got home he found the order to be completely wrong. Phoned up to complain and they just fobbed him off. Dont think we'll use this take away again.

Got a takeaway for birthday night arranged pickup on arrival did ask if all 5 meals there including paying a llittle extra for BBq ribs got home was one meal short plus mixed up with rice on phoning was told would be sent out and another£6.50 to pay but given boiled rice free a very nice well manned young lad came not long after felt guilty not giving him a tip but gave a tip in shop earler when I checked price couldn’t believe they charge an extra £1 for fried rice and £1 for chips 50p for boiled rice so each meal cost between 6.20 and £6.50 WithOut rice Chips etc so be careful your meal could cost £7.50 each most expensive I’ve ever paid in chippy but you learn by your mistakes

Went here for years but gone hugely down hill with wrong orders and rude management. The food is getting worse and worse.

Gone really down hill this place. As loyal customers they left off the spring rolls and sauces for a £15 half duck and when we called they said they believe their staff that they sent it. If we were trying to pull a fast one it would be for more than some sauce and spring rolls. Avoid awful management

Amazing food, Lemon Chicken from here has to be the best I have ever tasted! I ordered for collection.

Their menu claims if you spend over £18 there is a choice of free items including spring rolls, drinks etc. I was charged £24 for food that should have been £22.50. I only realised on checking the menu at home. I wasn't offered anything for free either. They also wrapped a meat product in the same paper as a vegetarian item.

Ordered at 4pm for a 7pm delivery slot, and its 40 mins late. Owner giving loads of excuses its on the way. Making our own dinner now, 2 weeks ago order was 23 min late. Will never order from them again. Poor service, bad attitude and don't go there!!!!!

Me and the gang has a few chongs on the vape and got blitzed, decided to place a hefty order for some scan and the sweet and sour chicken was belta, all d other chippys have jarg sweet n sour this was was so nice, if you ever order from here get sweet and sour, belta people these foods belta 5*

Waited almost hour for food(after stated delivery time) Rang up and was told 15 minutes. So half hour later food wasnt here(1.5 hours on total)gave up and started cooking once those 15 mins were up( kid was meant to share food with us -9.15 was pushing it-and it was past 10.30 by this point ) driver finally showed up almost 11, we had to say no, dont want it .took too long .driver had attitude . We started Cooking food by that point ffs . Waste of time . Liars.useless.never using again. No need on how late and phone engaged or ringing out .had to ring and ring and ring. Awful .

We ordered food at 5.45..We were told it would be an hr 6.45..At 6.55 we rang and we’re told it’s out for delivery ..7.45 we rang AGAIN and were told it was delivered to the wrong address ..They said they would redo the order and send it fresh , to which we said no leave it and issue a refund ...They said contact “Just eat “ for the refund ..At 7.58 the order arrived , cold and was to say the least “average “...After calling them they hung up on us, just eat said contact them for refund as they won’t issue .So chippy says contact just eat -just eat days contact chippy ..DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVCE FROM BOTH.6 meals for my family & partner who is an NHS worker ( frontline Covid-19 wards) , just finished 3days on the run.Totally ruined her only night off before she back in ...AVOID THIS PLACE AND JUST EAT !!

4/6/20 Absolutely disgusting customer service I understand delays are occurring during this time and could put up with that but for the order to turn up incomplete. No chips or soup . To be told their is no soup on your order because apparently are app doesn’t have the same offers as calling up ! So the notes were just ignored . Well my previous 10 orders have included this ! Then To be told we will send your chips out now. I really wanted a Chinese takeaway. Have used golden Phoenix before and thought it was ok. Ordered a delivery on just eat at 6:10pm. It said 50-70 min wait. When I order it said to expect it in 100minutes! I thought fair enough that’s ok. Still no sign at 7:50pm. Had a text sent to the restaurant. Said delivery at 8:10. Have already tried to call the restaurant several times but it was off the hook, by 8:30 thought this is ridiculous so try to speak to someone at just eat (who are very busy). I eventually have my order cancelled a full 3 hours 10 mins after I placed the order. I then had a knock on the door and my takeaway was there. I didn’t want it at that hour. The funny thing was that it was still warm so what on earth had they been doing for 3 hours? Yes I could have gone and collected but I don’t want to leave to house in the current climate. I don’t think you should be advertising something you can’t give. Really disappointed.

Food took nearly 2 hours to come.. when it eventually came the food was freezing, chicken was freezing and rock hard ordered shredded duck it came not so shredded.. would completely avoid this place as they do not take pride in their food

I have been ordering delivery from this restaurant for more than 15 years but it changed ownership a few years ago and everything deteriorated. I have given them lots of chances to improve my view but the last straw was recently. I ordered starter platter for 2 no seaweed 2 soup and prawn crackers Not cheap at £24 but cost would not have been an issue if good quality. No prawn crackers arrived although seaweed which we hate did. Ribs minute possibly one cut into 4 pieces. Dry awful spring rolls. Prawn toast tiny not a single dish that was nice and 24 quid later we both hungry and we do not have big appetites !!! I have decided to write this review after a number of bad experiences and as a result of using an alternative Chinese delivery tonight same order and absolutely amazing and still enough left for snack for us both tomorrow. Finally the owners and staff previous to the change were friendly and accommodating. The staff/owner now is brusque bordering on rude

This will be the last time we use this takeaway. We’ve used them for years and until recently it was fantastic. But our last 2 out of 4 meals were awful. Today we waited 2 hrs, couldn’t get through on the phone which must have been off the hook. When it finally arrived the portions were tiny and it was all cold. The chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated several times. Next time we’re going to try the Great Wall in Greasby.

We ordered at 7.30 through just eat and were told would be delivered for 8.55pm. Rang takeaway at 9.15pm to be told it is on way. Restaurant is 10 minutes away. 950pm still waiting. Line is now engaged or likely off the hook! Why don’t they refund and manage expectations. We would rather a refund at this point. Honesty is the best policy. Very disappointing

Hour and half wait for food, totally understand it was bank holiday. It came and it was warmish with items missing, tried to call to tell them and couldn’t get through. Such a shame

We ordered from here on a Saturday night. Placed the order at 5, asked for it to be delivered at 6.15. 6.35, no sign of the food so I called the restaurant. I was told it would be one of three things:Out for deliveryBeing cookedNot been processed yetHelpful!Waited until 7.15 and tried to call again. Constantly engaged. For 30 minutes.Suddenly the restaurant was offline and the website said closed.What a joke. Avoid at all costs.

Great tasty food. Now even have an app to make the whole process easier, without having to use the likes of just eat etc...

Went there tonight as a family and paid well over £20 but paid separate as as my dad was paying for my sister but all going home to same house! When I asked for the free prawn crackers I was refused by the lady on desk saying the system would not allow this! How pathetic!! Food absolutely awful as well!! Do not go to this restaurant! Horrible people

Food is tasteless, will never order from them again. Golden Phoenix Overchurch is a lot more better quality, takes time to deliver but it worth it.

After chasing my order over an hour late it turned up cold! Most went in the bin, shame as we have always ordered from here, but won't be ordering again!

One star really but can't, had previously ordered and had it delivered to the door fresh, hot and tasty. Tonight the delivery driver had no idea, no english language and we got it at 1 hour and 50mins even though he was close at 50 minutes. The language barrier was too much and the driver said "too hard, I take to shop". He arrived again at 1 hour and 45mins and we could see him speaking to our neighbour, they explained to go back out and turn left at a visible turn 35 metres away. He said ok, then drove off down the road again and off into the distance. With the delay the food arrived warmed up, some cold and some hot. The chicken dish was clearly heated up and terrible. Our daughter ran down the road in the end to get his attention. Never again.

Called here in way home from meeting a friend and it was one of best chicken fried rice's I have had. Don't get me wrong, at £7.30 for a chicken curry is not great in terms of value for a take away, but I've honestly never had a chicken fried rice as good.

Food took and hour and a half to arrive and was stone cold, we had to heat it in the microwave..!!!

I’m not usually one to moan on trip advisor the majority of my reviews are positive, but..... when I find raw chicken in my chicken curry I cannot hold my tongue. We have ordered from here many times and never had an issue so it pains me write this but has to be said . Warm food or late food I can deal with but raw is a massive no no . We will not be ordering from here again what a shame

Very nice food. Although can get very busy/crowded and sometimes hard to understand what the people are saying as their English pronunciation is a bit dodgy.

Ordered my meal after nearly an hour it turned up it was warm not hot like I thought it would be it was a special I counted 3 bits of chicken 4 prawns loads of cool noodles and onions will never order from there again

Don’t think I’ve ever consumed so much salt in one meal. Still drinking gallons of water 3 days later. Salt & pepper box should come with a health warning. Also had bean curd Szechuan which was like rubber.

DREADFUL! I ordered £50 worth of food, only to have food missing from the order, soup that was gelatine like and a huge wait. I drove there for a refund only to be offered credits. Of course I was not happy with this, my family are now hungry. I was then told to go home and fetch the food out of the bin to bring it back as proof and then I could have a ten pound refund (not even enough to cover the petrol) I am a loyal and regular customer at golden Phoenix and was in utter dismay to be treated this way.

Looking for something to eat while waiting to be seen at Arrowe Park Hosp, I found this place. I only got chips which were very nice and a decent portion. the meals were beyond my price range though.

What an absolute disappointment! This place used to be fantastic and faultless, how things have changed! After making the journey from Pensby to overchurch I got home to find they hadn’t completed my order correctly, called to let them know and the pleasant lady who answered just hung up on me, so having to phone again the equally pleasant boy I spoke to told me I could order and pay for what was missing plus delivery charges, as you can imagine at this point I was raging, and my two young children are also raging due to their hunger! They then agreed that I had to cover delivery, I was ok with this (I just needed my meal sorting ASAP to give my kids some dinner) however instead of ending my call there and sorting my dinner out, the boy demanded I wrap up the incorrect chicken to give back to the delivery driver!! I just wanted my meal sorting at this point not an argument over a few chicken balls, so I told them to sod it and ended up making the kids something else!! So my and hubby decide we will eat our meals, well we wish we never bothered, the duck in chilli and garlic sauce tasted like they’d just popped some chilli powder in the bbq sauce and chucked it in with some veg, I don’t think the salt and pepper chicken wings had been anywhere near the salt and pepper as they were bland and tasteless and the chips were just vile. So now we’re all sitting here still hungry and now £20+ down! Suggest people go elsewhere for their meals from now on, this place is the pits!

Food is usually excellent from here, but the curry today was too oily and not edible. A real shame.

Although in West Kirby and a few miles away have been using these guys for some time now as by far the best chippy locally and think the quality of their Chinese dishes is pretty much on par with restaurant standards.. Highly recommended.!!

This i the 2nd time we have collected food from here and it was amzing. Really fresh ingredients not greasy freshly made. Tasfy without being aalty. We ordered beef in brocoli and garlic sauce as one of our dishes and it was fresh brocoli. Totally delicious. My plate had a bit of everything on in the picture but was all really good

Although been living in Greasby over 18 months now tried Golden Phoenix for the first time recently and have to say we all found it to be of great quality and value for money. Will be using again in future.!!

Fabulous Take Away, best on The Wirral Id say. Some of their Cantonese dishes are simply divine and good value for money too.. Even their delivery service including the drivers are happy and professional, highly recommended.!!!

Easily the best Chinese in the village - delicious! Have used plenty of times. Delivery is fast and the food is hot!
