Golden Mountain in Cheltenham

Worst takeaway Chinese we have ever had, so surprised after really enjoying eating in the restaurant!!! Beef Curry with mushy potato to bulk it out so not much beef considering it was meant to be a large size. Noodles were absolutely drenched in soy sauce so very salty and not nice, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style lovely but tiny portion and char sui pork tasted peculiar.

service was fantastic and staff were lovely and polite. tables were clean. shame it was more expensive to dine in than it was to take away. food on the whole was nice, but nothing to rave about. complementary prawn crackers were a touch!

Spent £80, over to hours late, on the app disabled it was delivered and it wasn’t! Called the restaurant and they could help apparently as it’s with the driver, no apologies and no food!!!

Sweet and sour is watery vinegar, and egg fried rice either overcooked or not fresh. Not what I expected from the relatively high prices they charge

Possibly the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Delivery was very slow although that’s maybe underestimates me for NYE. However the food was really poor - the whole meal was cold, noodles were slimey, the way the rice had been presented was just odd, and the sweet and sour sauce looked like nuclear waste. Won’t ever be going here again.

They didn't send all items ordered. Missing Sweet and Sour Chicken ball's. The "Large" portions were small. Order was late. Disappointing considering how expensive it is.

Came for my uncles birthday! Restaurant was freezing! Food was very small portions and extremely expensive. They almost force you to order off the buffet menu and warn you that if caught sharing or tasting off someone’s buffet plate will be charged full £24 pp buffet price! They kept walking by watching smh! First & last time going. Left with a big bill and still hungry. Very disappointing.

have you changed chefs? because the last two meals we have ordered as home deliveries have been disgusting. our satay chicken on skewers lacked sauce my chow mein certainly wad not freshly made. my husbands beef curry was only half a portion and chips very greasy. please avoid this Chinese if you want a decent meal!

The buffet is not really a buffet. You ask for something and they insist it must be shared, what you can ask is very controlled. Very misleading. Outside the door it says eat as much as you want. Not true, they restrict what you ask and the amount. I have been here before and eat from the main menu, it was ok. After this very restricted and controlled "buffet" experience, will never be back. Also their explanation as how this works is very confusing. Can't recommend at all. Very disappointing.

DISGUSTING!! Order chicken curry, chicken chew main, chips and curry sauce and it was absolutely swimming in grease and cold, they told us £21 on the phone when they delivered they charged us £31 and it all went in the bin, NEVER AGAIN 🤮 🤮 🤮 The delivery man started sweating at my mum. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

This was a takeaway I had from this place I don’t usually review, but it was so bad I wanted to let people know. The worst was the salt and pepper chilli chicken , it looked anaemic , it was on the bone instead of small pieces of fresh tender chicken , vile

We had a buffet. Just be aware - there is a service charge, you can't take food you haven't finished and the service is very authentic (abrupt). Our vegetarian friends ordered soup and "vegetarian duck", which was slices of pastry in batter. Why call it a duck?! We were told "if you order it, you have to eat it" (flashback to childhoods when you were told you are not leaving the table until you are finished). Re food: I followed recommendations of people from reviews and they were pretty spot on. Vegetarian dishes are pretty disastrous:)

food tasted good, but having spent over £80 there was one very big disappointment, The Beef Rendang at £2 to £3 more than other curry's, not only did it come in an half height container but only came up half way, basically about 5 tablespoons, making this over £2 per spoon, disgusted that they think they can rip me off with a overpriced babies portion, always liked the Golden Mountain, but now won't ever go back there again.

only good thing about the whole £60 meal was the spring roll. everything else was swimming in oil. shocking food tbh chicken in the chicken balls was hard like it was cooked 3 days ago and the sauce was literally covered in oil.

What a muddle with ordering…… we went with a pre booking for large party….. spring rolls were like ones purchased from Tesco….. seaweed had lots of sugar or something on it….. never had tasted seaweed like that before…… food not hot….. very unappealing….. told there was no crispy duck although on the menu…… vegetarian crispy duck was like flat batter…. I’m not sure where the duck is associated with it…… on the whole I’ve never experienced a Chinese meal like it…… I’d give it a miss….. unless you are prepared to eat anything 🤷‍♀️

Went here for my brother 40th birthday the staff was fantastic had a really good laugh food was fantastic freshly cooked to order very good prices just fantastic time here will be coming back soon

won ton soup was flavourless an like a bowl of fat from bottom of a grill. large ribs were small and more fat an gristle than meat. the meat that was there was really over cooked an hard. absolute waste of money.

Our go to Chinese to eat in or takeaway. Great price for the buffet and really nice. Staff are great and polite. Wouldn't go anywhere else now in Cheltenham.

The chicken in the Szechuan Chicken (Chilli Bean Sauce) was SLIMY. Has caused my partner and I to go completely off our food.

Took an hour and a half to be delivered and was still late. Was cold when it arrived and I had asked that the Singapore rice not be too ‘hot’ and it was inedible which was so disappointing. Have had great food before so I don’t know what happened today.

Food was good quality, and delivery time was fairly quick - however there was an item missing from the order (luckily just a pot of satay sauce and I didn't want to go through the absolute faff of contacting JustEat for the sake of £3.70) so was a little disappointed, but this was the first time there had been an issue with any orders that we placed here.

this is the worst Chinese I've ever had. so greasy. the chicken balls were solid and chewy, next to no chicken in the chow mein. and to top it off we were given crinkle cut oven chips that were fried. it was quite expensive for the poor food we received

The food was terrible. The chips looked like frozen crinkle cut oven chips deep fried. The chicken in the curry had the texture of packing foam, and the egg fried rice slid out of the container in a gelatinous lump. Never again.

I didn't think in this day and age that a restaurant would chance sending out what I received, 1 chicken curry chicken was seriously off slimy and had separated from the curry 2 chicken in black bean again chicken seriously gone off, 3 egg fried rice dried out rice with a egg planted on top strange taste and colour orderd from uber eats thinking it would be OK but without doubt the worst food ever I would have gave it to the dog but it probably would have killed him, every bit in the bin at 36 quid not a happy camper and would not like to see anyone else go trough the same thing. Seriously Golden mountain beyond unacceptable.

Worst chinese food I've ever had the satay chicken was part raw, the sweet and sour soup was a gluttonous mess. Non of the dishes were rated good by our guests. Not sure how they are still in business.
