Golden Grill Kebab House in Brighton and Hove

I don’t care what time of the night it is. You can’t charge someone £5.7 for a small portion of cheesy chips you cooked earlier and reheated in the microwave. Terrible.

I went here about 6 months ago and it is definitely the best kebab shop in Brighton and Hove. So much so everytime I go into Hove it is closed, but definitely would recommend. I had chicken skewers and doner meat etc was lush. I need to go into Hove when it is open.

Ordered a Donna kebab it was dry almost like cardboard and gristley. Salad was old and tired, except the white onion that can only be described as wedges. This place takes absolutely no pride in their product. Avoid at all costs!

This Istanbul grill is the best I've ever had. They food is great and of course tasty 😋, affordable, opens late which is great 👍 and lovely owners. Please have a try at least and I guarantee you won't regret it 😀. No other grill can replace even if I tried. 😁

Ordered a doner kebab and received a cold stale pitta bread full of meat and 3 slices (YES 3) of cucumber (I had ordered cucumber and lettuce only with the kebab). All 3 for £9.40!!! I couldn’t eat it and not fit to even feed the foxes with. The young lad looked as though he was in some sort of catatonic glaze, with no customer service skills (and he certainly can’t make a simple kebab). I will NEVER use Golden Grill again. Disgusting!

Astonishingly bad. This place is always busy, and yet they charge £5.70 for cheesy chips. £5.70. The last time I got lamb from this place I couldn't even cut through it with a butchers knife it was so tough.

Didn’t know what I was in the mood for and then I saw someone else get a 1/4 pounder with cheese… it looked the nuts, and then the choice was easy.

Husband and wife who run the place are very friendly. The salesman working there is very polite. The food is delicious, specially lamb and chicken doner kebab.

Thought I would try out somewhere brand new. Tatty appearance and grudging service. I got suspicious after ordering a chicken doner and saw the reviews. Similar to others, the chicken was chewy and flaky, meaning that I didn't even get to finish the kebab. Probably will try somewhere else next time

Made me instantly throw up disgusting nasty food never order i tried to tell them and the manager was rude hence why they have such a 2/10 AVOID

The first time I came here was disappointing but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time, much the same. Chips were refried in front of me, which given it being a Monday night I wasn’t too bothered about, but it was clear on opening the box most of them had been refried for perhaps the third time, brittle, dry excuse for chips. Kebab meat had been in the warmer for goodness knows how long, and was chewy with a charred crust. And for the pleasure of this experience I expected to pay the already extortionate £12.99 but was charged a further 50p on top for my card payment. Frankly a waste of money and time.

Entered this unfortunate establishment , met by the Turkish basil fawlty , I just wanted chips and cheese , he entered £6 , I asked if I could pay on my card he then punched quite violently Into cash register £6.90 , I pointed out it was illegal to do this and he waved his hand at me to leave . Terrible experience and terrible staff

Avoid at all costs. This is a very disappointing review, this used to be our go to place for chips after a night out, or even just some drinks, but sadly over the past few weeks it really went downhill. My first bad experience was a few weeks ago I ordered a quarter pounder and small chips, and after paying (because I was used to coming here I didn’t check the bill and amount) I weirdly noticed I had paid a bit too much - about £4 pounds over what o expected. I asked them and they said that was the right price for a half pounder. I said that’s not what I ordered and they said it was only a few pounds difference so I should just keep it. I said fine as I was grabbing some quick food before a long drive. Fast forward a few weeks to today, we ordered two small shish kebabs and one large fries and the bill came to over £30. My sister who is visiting paid whilst I was on the phone but given my last experience when I was done I asked her how much it was and was shocked it was over £30. I went back to the till and asked for a receipt and they started to repeat the order but added 2x fries + cheese add on. I said this is not what we ordered and the lady was clearly upset about it and didn’t like it. She said just have the two chips and I said no and asked for money back which after a while they gave it back to us. In less than a few weeks I had the same impression that they are trying to scam you off. Avoid going. Food isn’t that great. Clearly overpriced, and they will try to do you one over especially if they “think” you had a drink or too. Ridiculous. Again, after adding it a

Ordered a family meal which was supposed to be 18 pieces of chicken with coleslaw and beans and a 1.5l bottle of drink and they gave me 2 chicken pieces, one can of drink and half a portion of chips instead. I am currently doing a chargeback as this is absolutely shocking and theft from the customer. Do not order from here! I will be letting everyone else know not to order from here as well!

Two days of diarrhoea after possibly the worst kebab in my lifetime. Couldn’t eat more than a few mouthfuls. So sad as this was one of the best kebab houses at one time. And I was charged nearly £20 for the privilege.

The worst experience I have ever had ordering food. The chicken kebab was burnt and bitter leaving an awful after taste. I went back to the promises and kindly explained to the chef the food was over cooked pointing out the burnt/charcoal bits of chicken. Not only did he disagree with my point, he began an outraged tantrum explaining the food needs to be this way to avoid giving food poisoning. To this point I mentioned calmly that kebabs in the past were tasty and pleasant to it, to which this one is not the case. The chef then belittled me saying he is a chef for 40 years and asked how old I was, knowing I would be younger and trying to intimidate me with my age. Again, I calmly pointed out my age is not relevant and both me and my partner agreed the food is burnt. I asked if there is any compromise of changing the order. The chef did not take this kindly stating he is tired of customers wanting to change orders. At this point I ran out of ideas of what to do. So I confirmed I won't be coming back unless there is some compromise on his side showing my feeling of sadness about the whole situation. He predicably refused so I left the store looking to never return, and encourage anyone with self respect for themselves and their pallet to do the same :(

I ordered food for delivery, it arrived stone cold and terrible quality. The meat was dry and there was a very small portion, Pitta was even dryer. No sauce to help the thing go down either

My experience with Istanbul Grill House in Brighton was deeply disappointing. I ordered delivery, and from start to finish, it was a complete letdown. First, my order was forgotten for a considerable period, causing frustration and impatience. When it finally arrived, it was evident that it had been hastily prepared. The food was rushed and lacked the quality that one would expect from a restaurant. To make matters worse, the food was excessively oily, to the point of being unappetizing. The flavors were drowned in a sea of grease, and the presentation was subpar. It left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. I had hoped for a satisfying and delicious meal, but what I received was a far cry from that. Istanbul Grill House's delivery service, in this instance, was a major disappointment.
