Golden Grill Kebab House in Brighton and Hove

Thought I would try out somewhere brand new. Tatty appearance and grudging service. I got suspicious after ordering a chicken doner and saw the reviews. Similar to others, the chicken was chewy and flaky, meaning that I didn't even get to finish the kebab. Probably will try somewhere else next time

Made me instantly throw up disgusting nasty food never order i tried to tell them and the manager was rude hence why they have such a 2/10 AVOID

The first time I came here was disappointing but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time, much the same. Chips were refried in front of me, which given it being a Monday night I wasn’t too bothered about, but it was clear on opening the box most of them had been refried for perhaps the third time, brittle, dry excuse for chips. Kebab meat had been in the warmer for goodness knows how long, and was chewy with a charred crust. And for the pleasure of this experience I expected to pay the already extortionate £12.99 but was charged a further 50p on top for my card payment. Frankly a waste of money and time.

Entered this unfortunate establishment , met by the Turkish basil fawlty , I just wanted chips and cheese , he entered £6 , I asked if I could pay on my card he then punched quite violently Into cash register £6.90 , I pointed out it was illegal to do this and he waved his hand at me to leave . I will never enter this horrid place again

Avoid at all costs. This is a very disappointing review, this used to be our go to place for chips after a night out, or even just some drinks, but sadly over the past few weeks it really went downhill. My first bad experience was a few weeks ago I ordered a quarter pounder and small chips, and after paying (because I was used to coming here I didn’t check the bill and amount) I weirdly noticed I had paid a bit too much - about £4 pounds over what o expected. I asked them and they said that was the right price for a half pounder. I said that’s not what I ordered and they said it was only a few pounds difference so I should just keep it. I said fine as I was grabbing some quick food before a long drive. Fast forward a few weeks to today, we ordered two small shish kebabs and one large fries and the bill came to over £30. My sister who is visiting paid whilst I was on the phone but given my last experience when I was done I asked her how much it was and was shocked it was over £30. I went back to the till and asked for a receipt and they started to repeat the order but added 2x fries + cheese add on. I said this is not what we ordered and the lady was clearly upset about it and didn’t like it. She said just have the two chips and I said no and asked for money back which after a while they gave it back to us. In less than a few weeks I had the same impression that they are trying to scam you off. Avoid going. Food isn’t that great. Clearly overpriced, and they will try to do you one over especially if they “think” you had a drink or too. Ridiculous. Again, after adding it a

Ordered a family meal which was supposed to be 18 pieces of chicken with coleslaw and beans and a 1.5l bottle of drink and they gave me 2 chicken pieces, one can of drink and half a portion of chips instead. I am currently doing a chargeback as this is absolutely shocking and theft from the customer. Do not order from here! I will be letting everyone else know not to order from here as well!

Two days of diarrhoea after possibly the worst kebab in my lifetime. Couldn’t eat more than a few mouthfuls. So sad as this was one of the best kebab houses at one time. And I was charged nearly £20 for the privilege.

The worst experience I have ever had ordering food. The chicken kebab was burnt and bitter leaving an awful after taste. I went back to the promises and kindly explained to the chef the food was over cooked pointing out the burnt/charcoal bits of chicken. Not only did he disagree with my point, he began an outraged tantrum explaining the food needs to be this way to avoid giving food poisoning. To this point I mentioned calmly that kebabs in the past were tasty and pleasant to it, to which this one is not the case. The chef then belittled me saying he is a chef for 40 years and asked how old I was, knowing I would be younger and trying to intimidate me with my age. Again, I calmly pointed out my age is not relevant and both me and my partner agreed the food is burnt. I asked if there is any compromise of changing the order. The chef did not take this kindly stating he is tired of customers wanting to change orders. At this point I ran out of ideas of what to do. So I confirmed I won't be coming back unless there is some compromise on his side showing my feeling of sadness about the whole situation. He predicably refused so I left the store looking to never return, and encourage anyone with self respect for themselves and their pallet to do the same :(

Really unfriendly people, walked in for some chips we had to choose between if wanted to ketchup or mayonnaise Because we can’t have both or we have to pay extra. What !!!!

I ordered food for delivery, it arrived stone cold and terrible quality. The meat was dry and there was a very small portion, Pitta was even dryer. No sauce to help the thing go down either

My experience with Istanbul Grill House in Brighton was deeply disappointing. I ordered delivery, and from start to finish, it was a complete letdown. First, my order was forgotten for a considerable period, causing frustration and impatience. When it finally arrived, it was evident that it had been hastily prepared. The food was rushed and lacked the quality that one would expect from a restaurant. To make matters worse, the food was excessively oily, to the point of being unappetizing. The flavors were drowned in a sea of grease, and the presentation was subpar. It left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally. I had hoped for a satisfying and delicious meal, but what I received was a far cry from that. Istanbul Grill House's delivery service, in this instance, was a major disappointment.

Foods what you expect from a kebab house. Workers are really friendly and service is pretty quick and food looked and tasted good and not slapped together. If in area I would use again.

AVOID AT ALL COST. I ordered lamb shish, chicken shish and chips. Portions were meager and lamb was burnt. Chips were tastless and it seems that they mix mayo with water. The only thing sadder than the overpriced meal was the service. So rude and passive aggressive.

Overpriced, and meagre portion considering it was the most expensive single item on the menu, the mixed kebab. Chips were very poor too, had been heated up several times so we're dry and tasteless. Won't be going back.

Tonight I bought a combination doner meat and chicken and the salad seriously was non existent. One end of a tomato nothing else. REALLY £12-50 One star was for the free fork.

Cost me and a friend £9 each for chicken nuggets in a wrap, think we got 4 nuggets in each wrap. Mouldy tomatoes on show next to all the meat, I asked for one to cook once I got home and he said no, beware they could be going in your kebab!!

Order was horrific for the third time now. I ordered a chicken fillet burger and was served only a piece of flat crispy chicken when I paid extra for the fillet burger and was served the cheaper chicken. I ordered garlic with cheese and bacon, the cheese was thrown in a bag with the garlic bread and ther was no bacon whatsoever that I paid extra for and the garlic bread was all burnt and broken. It was so difficult to speak to the man behind the counter as if he couldn’t understand at all, I kept asking what sort of fried wings do they do? And he took that as my order but I was just asking a question? After ages of trying to make him understand what I was trying to ask by pointing to pictures (fried hot wing) he says “yes” so I asked for 6 hot wings single along with a lamb donner burger meal he asked me to wait 25mins and then appears a quarter pounder and 7 huge chicken pieces and charged me £25! I was so confused leaving the store and noticed my whole order was incorrect and completely overpriced! I heard him speak to his colleague to add 2 extra chips portions aswell to the bill!! DO NOT EAT FROM HERE

Overpriced, even when compared to a London kebab. You're better off going to Western Road for some better options.

I spent over £27 for 2 large shish as in this shop it only comes with salad and I had to pay extra for side. Meat is bit too salty for my taste, and staff was rude when I asked him about the fact that usually shish dish comes with both side and salad... I will definitely won't spend my money here again

Very poor customer service, food arrived wrong, when we phoned they told us not to eat it and they would send a new meal, 1 hour later still no food, they promised us that the manager would call us, another hours wait and we finally get a call from the manager, he was very rude and refused to send more food and said he would only give us £1 refund, when we told him that we were told we would get new food and not to eat what we had he called us a lier and told us we have the food he doesn't care if it's cold or if we eat it today, tomorrow or next week and then put the phone down, avoid this place very very unsatisfied.

*DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE* Easily the worst kebab I've ever had. Ordered 1 lamb doner, 1 lamb shish, 1 chips in pitta. The lamb doner meat was burnt and really didnt taste right. The lamb shish had 2-3 bits of meat and it smelt really bad, and finally the pitta was burnt and was a handful of cold chips just placed on the pitta. Had to wait 75 mins for this rubbish too. All ended up in the bin. I phoned up to complain but the staff member was extremely rude. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE, ORDER ELSEWHERE.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Awful service, awful food. Rang to place order as could not place on website as there was no option to order chips with cheese on there. Person who took call could not find where any of the food was to add the order, and I had to get them to check the order a couple times as it was wrong. Eventually finished and asked if we could have the 10% discount as on the website, as we could not order from there. They said no and the manager wasn’t there so they didn’t care. Then told me to order on the website and hung up on me. After ordering on the website, and requesting cheese be put on the chips, I had a rude call from someone telling me to pay over £1 per portion for some cheese to be added. Food arrived - just awful. Chilli cheese bites burnt, kebab burnt and tiny portion with barely any sauce, burger sloppy and cold on the top, halloumi wrap freezing cold and three thin slices of halloumi in the entire wrap. Never again- easily worst takeaway I’ve had and so many places that do so much better for cheaper.

Food took over a hour to arrive, order was wrong, very rude over the phone, refused to sort out their mistake, passed around 4 staff members, finally agreed to bring correct order, we’re told 25 minutes, order turns up over a hour again and looks like it’s been stepped on!! Cold food very little prep throw together

They were so busy at around 1am after the Euro final. Quite clean and a nice atmosphere. The guys work relentlessly and energetically. Food quality could be a little bit better but overall a good place where to stop if you're hungry

EXTREMELY RUDE AND RACIST. Used his bare hands to make the food and not once did I seee him wash his hands or leave to possibly wash his hand before making the food. Not approachable or welcoming at all. No manners and customer service was horrible. Me and my 2 friends came in and as soon as we got in he served us with a screwed face and when his colleague came in they started they started speaking in their languge and laughing in our faces. I would never recommend this place or be back ever again.

This is not even a last resort. The service was terrible the food was ill presented . I ordered a grilled halloumi wrap the halim was still very rubbery and not grilled. To top it all of he rolled my wrap up with bare hands without washing. Do not go here

They used to be really good and I used to love their garlic mayo, but my last experience with them was terrible, I ordered a large kebab and the guy served me a regular size kebab that was cold and tasted as it had been there for a while. I asked to put garlic mayo but he tried his best to save up as much as he could and just put very little sauce on it. Never going there again.

We ordered food that was incorrect. The restaurant refused to replace and became confrontational. We ended up trying to eat the incorrect food which smelled of old meat and finally ordering from another restaurant. It sort of spoilt our evening

Claim to deliver after 12h, it’s a lie. Place my order at 11h to have my lunch delivered around 12h30/12h45 and not until 12h10 they’ve cancelled it without giving a reason.

I live over the rd from this place...drop in every now and again and always regret it. Despite the lockdown, rude staff and the state of the food they still mange to keep going till 3.30 each and every morning..loudly....they've got be doing something right, not sure what

I actually think that I could give Golden Grill 3 stars for their meat. Sadly, everything else is bad. They don't seem to have any duty of care. If you're ordering a kebab wrap you expect all the trimmings and just piece of bread and meat without anything else just a measly bit of chilli sauce.. is not worth £10. If you're going to charge those prices make it nice... Very disappointed.

I wouldn't even give 1 star. Ordered 2 doner kebabs and the meat had thick pieces of fat in - we were very unhappy. Called Golden Grill only to receive lots of negativity and no offer of compensation. He was very rude. Steer clear and go to Nayeb would be my recommendation!

I ordered 2 doner kebabs and when they arrived the doner meat had thick lumps of fat in. I called the store only to met with a barrage of abuse and negativity.

I am really pleased with the food. The staff were polite and courteous, the delivery was quick and the lamb and doner shish I ordered with salad was very fresh and the meat tasted lovely! I can't fault this place. It is the second time I have ordered and I am happy to recommend golden grill!

This place is a disgrace and shouldn’t be a running business. The staff are incredibly rude with no manners or social awareness and the food is below average even for a take away kebab.
