The food was good and the service was very nice smooth.

Had a very nice cocktail here. However, the menu online does not represent the menu at the restaurant. Service behind the bar was great. Table service not so good.

We just had a lovely experience at the ginger pig. We went for the Octoberbest lunch menu and the food was absolutely amazing every course was just perfect. I would also like to give a special mention to Aga her customer service and attentiveness really made the experience. Thank you for great food and service will definitely be coming back.

Friendly, helpful, professional staff, clean new bathrooms & comfy beds, excellent food/ everything you need for a weekend break. We had a problem with noisy aircon- the staff went above and beyond to sort this out immediately and without fuss. Will definitely stay again.

Sunday Roast perfection ! Perfect roast potatoes, perfect portion size , perfect gravy, meat and vegetables perfectly cooked and presented well done chef's ! Front of house and waiting staff very friendly and helped me choose the best wine to accompany my food . This pub/restaurant has a great vibe chilled and classy with an everyone is welcome feel . I actually can't find any fault what so ever. Wonderful chilled Sunday at the Ginger pig . 😍🐖

Really lovely accommodation. Well organized, polite and efficient. Clean and tidy room. Great toiletries available to be used by guests. Also complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk in the fridge. Mini bar with clear pricing, which includes snacks and soft drinks along with a variety of alcohol choices.

It's the second time I have booked the private dining room with The Ginger Pig and each time it has been a smooth, flexible and friendly booking experience, the food top notch, the room itself perfectly equipped with private bathrooms, music/stereo options, a terrace and lovely interior. Although a deposit I like the fact that it is simple and no silly minimum spend amount required. Staff always friendly and made the experience on both occasions very special.

Stayed her for a work trip. Lovely boutique hotel vibe, food is absolutely incredible and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Ended up eating breakfast, lunch & dinner over 2 days! And so much cheaper than other hotels in the area. Lots of nice touches like fresh milk and chocolate goodies in the fridge and a high end coffee machine. And right on the beach.10/10

I’ m a regular customer for Sunday roast. The roast is delicious, and the gravy is outstanding. You can really tell that the chef spends days perfecting it ;) using the best ingredients and techniques to make it special. My favorite drink there is the spicy jalapeño 🍹margarita, in my opinion it’s the best in town (you must try it) which pairs perfectly with the meal. The incredible food and the chef's dedication keep me coming back for more. I also like the serving staff especially the Polish girl (sorry I don't have her name) she is very nice and the maitre d is very welcoming (again I sorry for not knowing his name) Thank you for all the hard work and passion you put into every dish and drinks! D

A 50th and a 60th to celebrate. 4 long time friends gather on a surprisingly sunny Saturday in late September in the spacious & delicately decorated restaurant. No rush. A looong lunch is the order of the day. The staff especially Elona couldn't have been more accommodating and perfectly attentive. Slowly does it. One fabulous course at a time. For me? Plenty of excellent wine if all colours to compliment...Oysters followed by the Duck Leg Ragu. Pause.... Delicious Grilled Mackerel as a fish course....lamb pie (a proper pie)....Choc and Pistachio torte (wonderfully light)....cheese...coffee ...no "wafer thin mint" after such a feast but the birthday boys enjoyed a sparkler on a piece of fudge with a sing song. Thank you so very, very much for looking after us. We had such a lovely time and will definitely return.....a looong dinner perhaps :-)

We stayed here over our wedding weekend with our friends and family staying in all the rooms and mew houses. It couldn't have been more perfect. Great location and beautiful rooms. The hotel team (Diarna especially) were amazing from the beginning and were incredibly flexible, informative and made our stay memorable for all the right reasons. Breakfasts were delicious too! Thank you to all the team.

This is a terrific restaurant/gastropub in Hove, and near the shore. While it is not focussed on vegetarians, the veggie options are all interesting. All the food we ate was really tasty, with good textures. If I had one criticism, it is that we felt a little rushed - we were in an out in just over an hour, which for a three course meal is speedy.

Recently had a wedding party in their private room organised by Laura, thanks Laura. Everything was perfect, food, service, atmosphere. Faultless in every way and excellent value.

We had a lovely stay at the ginger pig. We booked the entire place for a wedding event at Rockwater. Perfect location for it. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Had a fantastic time and the rooms were crystal clean. We felt special and can't thank everyone enough for that.

We went today first time to dine. We’d had a drink previously. Laura & her team, everyone excellent attention without pushy, smiling genuine. Good food. We are going again next week with a friend who’s visiting us. It was very busy which shows how good it is. Everyone was treated as though they were special. Returning diners. Obviously 🙄

Overall stay at the ginger pig was nice. Clean and aircon in the bedrooms spot on. They allow dogs in the mews houses which was great. So close to the beach. Food lovely. Luke was our waiter he was great.

I was staying at the Ginger Pig in their mews houses which were lovely .Very quiet even though you are near to everything .Very well equipped very clean good linen etc I had originally booked the private dining room which unfortunately got cancelled rather quickly ! But I thought I would go in and speak to someone as I had a mixed party of adults and little children and we didn’t want to worry they were too noisy to the other diners Luckily for me I met Francisco one of the managers who couldn’t have been more helpful our evening was back on in a beautiful room it’s got a great outside area as well We were served mainly by Luke who was fantastic .The food was so delicious I cannot recommend it enough But our big Thankyou is to Francisco who bent over backwards to help us have a perfect get together with family and friends who had all travelled from Devon ,Kent and Hertfordshire

4 years ago me and the family came to the ginger pig for new year’s eve, the food was great but the standout was the dessert, the pumpkin pie, easily the best dessert i have ever had and we’ve come in countless times after that but they’ve sadly taken the pie off the menu, please bring it back you will not regret it!!

Love staying here and it's better than staying in Brighton, plus the off road parking is way cheaper. Beautiful modern clean rooms with a well stocked mini bars and complimentary Cowshed products. Only complaints are that it would be nice to have breakfast included in the price (at an extra reduced charge) and for the service charge to be removed from drinks ordered at the bar as we were sat there. I know you can ask for it to be removed, but it's embarrassing having to ask.

We found this delightful venue by chance on a recent visit to Hove. Sunday roast with all the trimmings was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

We went en famille for lunch two days in a row and can only say both as darn good each other. Fab Bloody Mary’s, fab plump oysters, chicken liver creamy parfait, roast carrots and goats curd and oh my days, the lamb. Did I mention the oysters? And Francesco as manager was charming and the service attentive but not intrusive. If only you opened one albeit with an alternate name in the UAE. FABULOUS!

Came for a Sunday lunch. Was great to see smiles on all staffs faces and everyone was very attentive and helpful. The manager Laura was especially great. She juggled tables around to make sure everyone was happy. She is a star! Food also did not disappoint. Good quality meat, we had the beef and pork. Lovely yorkies, crispy roast potatoes and tasty gravy. A beautiful room too. Thanks for a lovely time, will definitely be back when we next visit Bright and Hove.

My son and his wife hosted the evening part of their wedding celebration, in the private dining area of the Ginger Pig. They stayed on for the night in one of the rooms, and my husband and I stayed in the delightful Mews House. Every enquiry and aspect of planning was dealt with courteously and with joy. The room looked fabulous, decorated with flower posies from the local florist, and candles chosen by the bride. The food was truly spot on. Everyone made their choices in advance and everything arrived in a timely manner, to accommodate a few speech interludes, both at the beginning and during the event. The guests were served by dedicated staff who really took excellent care of us all.. Following the meal we were able to use the small courtyard outside, push the tables back and enjoy a dance or two. I would absolutely recommend this venue for a special occasion. Every member of the Ginger Pig staff team contributed to the most relaxed wedding event imaginable. Thank you again, everyone.

I came here with a friend for a birthday dinner and it was a great choice. The food was superb and the service was attentive and helpful without being over-bearing. Great cocktail selection and we were given help with our wine selection and had a delicious bottle that suited our dinner. I would recommend The Ginger Pig to anyone and will be returning.

FOOD: Lamb roast meat was a small slice and half of it was fat. From menu description I was expecting tender slow cooked Lamb but got tough bit of meat. Chocolate ganache was not a ganache and was "deconstructed" with little flavour, few squirts of lightly flavoured chocolate mousse total rip off at £9!!. SERVICE: Initial waitress was surly and rude, really odd. Subsequent waiters were nice. OVERALL: underwhelming.

I was very lucky to have got a room at the last minute. I stayed in room 7, a small and perfectly formed room with a slanting roof and ensuite. very spacious, note that the walls are thin and expect to hear noise, ear plugs can fix that and anyway the beds are so relaxing you'll fall asleep quite fast. The bathroom is the best I've seen in the many boutique hotels I've stayed. Bathrobes, still water, biscuits, tea and coffee are complimentary. a friendly and warm welcome from the team. good air con, fair value for money.

Such a nice experience dining at The Ginger Pig. I find the staff on the whole are attentive without being invasive and the restaurant atmosphere is for the most lively. Everything here for me has a sense of ‘for the most’ its never an entirely perfect visit, there is always something that doesn’t quite hit .. and for me it usually the food. The menu has finally changed, and the new dishes have brought some new interest, but again its not extensive and nor is it classical, so boredom can hit really quickly if you’re a regular visitor. Simpler dishes have been over worked and popular dishes lack depth, but they are all still nice, which at this price might not be enough. Bathrooms could be maintained and cleaned more regularly, however on the whole its a nice lunch or dinner spot where you’ll be looked after.

A wonderful oasis of calm and quiet. Food is excellent staff are sublime! Beds are bliss!

My god the food was amazing, had the best breakfast I've ever had here. The black pudding took me back to.when my late grandad use to make his. It brought a smile to my face. Amazing food and amazing chefs and waiters

Located close to the seafront at Hove, the Ginger Pig is an excellent restaurant serving very good which is fairly priced. Service is friendly helpful and non-intrusive. Highly recommended.

We went to have dinner and we had an amazing time there. The food was very good and the service was impeccable. I would reccomend it for a romantic dinner.

Not the best of places for vegetarians as choice very limited. Portions modest and prices less so. In my mind, adding service to the bill isn’t really the idea.

We have been coming here for many years but, of late, it seems to have gone a bit off the boil. The atmosphere and service is still great but the menu has become much less interesting and the portion sizes have got much smaller. My brother was told that the scallops were a bit smaller than usual so they would charge a bit less. He went ahead anyway and what he got was just laughable, two scallops each the size of a small marble. I think they had fished them out of a bag of Iceland Seafood Mix. We wrote and complained and heard nothing but have since discovered others who had the same experience. We are staying away and keeping an eye on the reviews, hopefully this is just a temporary glitch as we love the place.

The food here is super. We went to a Taittinger & Roebuck champagne tasting with a four course dinner to match and the food was fabulous. The whole evening was beautifully organised with 6 champagnes to taste. Lovely friendly and very efficient staff. All a great pleasure

I held my husband’s surprise 50th birthday in the private dining room, the food and service was perfect. Our waiter Francesco was awesome, on the ball, super attentive and nothing was too much trouble! Thank you to the whole team for making his surprise party fabulous.

We have lived in Hove for 3 years now and been meaning to have lunch at the Ginger Pig. At last we reserved a table for a late Sunday roast. Overall our experience was very good indeed, service being exceptional, but let down with a disappointment with the main course and the pricing of the appetisers. To start: we were very warmly welcomed, earlier than our booking time (being nearby about 1/2 hour earlier than planned, we sought refuge in the Pig due to heavy rain). A table was quickly prepared for us - wife in wheelchair - and it was the perfect table. My eye was at once drawn to the blackboard with specials on it - "roast lamb for 2", it said. That is what we are both after, invariably, for any Sunday roast, with roast lamb being an increasing rarity on Sunday menus. Our choice was quickly registered with our extremely helpful waiter, who also took a drinks and starters order (tempura prawns had run out, but then it was nearly 3pm...). Our beers were brought to the table within just a couple of minutes. Starters arrived shortly afterwards, priced at £11 and £10. The portions were sadly no more than "snack" size - my wife had star-anise cured salmon with a dill-flavoured crême fraîche, I had ravioli, or rather a single 'raviolo' with spiced butternut squash filling. Both were excellent in all respects, texture, flavour (every advertised ingredient in the salmon and raviolo discernible in all its glory - congrats to chef and platers-up). Perhaps larger helpings would have been "too much of a good thing", or too much ahead of a Sunday roast - but, in any event, perhaps the mark-up on both small tapas offerings might have been a touch more modest? I was moved to comment to our waiter that the service was remarkably efficient at this point: one of his colleagues was about to pass our table, carrying some used plates and cutlery back from another table to the kitchen, but noticed we had finished our starters so paused to add our plates to his collection. Everyone on the waiting team seemed to take little initiatives like this rather than leave things to others. Orders were apparently placed with the kitchen as soon as they were taken, and, when ready, brought to our table by whichever waiter happened to be standing near the kitchen counter. Our own waiter seemed aware of all the timing and in control. Honestly, this level of co-ordination is so rare these days unless you are eating in London somewhere in Mayfair or Fitzrovia under the watchful eye of some 'maître d' in a disciplinarian chef's place. Our main course then started to arrive, brought by another colleague. A large eating plate each, followed by serving platters of meat, veg, potatoes, Yorkshire etc etc. That's when we noticed: it was not the luxuriant pink, thick slices of leg and/or shoulder we were expecting and so much looking forward to from our advertised 'roast', but an elegantly moulded little assemblage of meat 'bits' which had presumably fallen off a bone (e.g. shank) or just been stewed for 2 -3 hours in a slow oven. People! For god's sake, wake up and smell the conspiracy! We are being lulled into accepting more and more mush these days, from pulled pork to braised shanks, and worse - sloppy joes. Look what the fast-food chains are dishing up - and apparently we say we like this! Why is proper roast lamb disappearing from menus? Easier to put a braise in the oven and forget? Cheaper cuts? No need to carve? Sorry - but this was not roast lamb. Lamb it certainly was, and the flavour was there in spades. But in this version, the flavour was more in the juices that the cooking process had sucked out of the meat and the texture reduced to swiftly chewable chunks, too easy to swallow bar a few strands which got caught in your teeth on the way down. To give the Ginger Pig its due, when I pointed out our disappointment to the waiter who had brought us the lamb, he listened solicitously, admitted that the lamb had been braised rather than roast and said he would speak at once to the chef about the description on the blackboard. He could have insisted with fake indignation that the lamb WAS roast, in this case for 3 hours (as would waiters in other establishments), but - bless him - he chose instead to engage with us. A few minutes later, he returned from the kitchens to the blackboard and rubbed out 'roast', substituting 'braised', signalling to us that he had duly consulted with the chef. He told us they do sometimes serve real roast lamb. There is such a difference though that this really should be clearly advertised. The accompaniments to the lamb were first-rate. Roast potatoes to die for, excellent sweet red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, caramelised carrots, a fine Yorkshire and beautiful gravy. No complaints about any of those. We ordered a desert each. These took a little longer to arrive, but by that time we had gorged on roast potatoes and eaten all the lamb (for the flavour), so a little delay was in order. Tiramisu was first-rate, although the advertised coconut flavour not much in evidence. The rhubarb and apple crumble surpassed all expectations: I make a pretty decent crumble myself, but the crunch in this one was remarkable indeed (how did he/she do it?) and the fruit both tart and sweet in equal measure. The vanilla custard was the right complement to all that: so glad it wasn't ice cream. A triumph. So - we will be going back for sure. We will probably skip the appetisers next time, because eating three courses when one of them is a Sunday roast is really egregious piggery, as the pricing of the starters no doubt aimed to show. Please, please make it roast lamb, and I mean roast lamb - not slow-roast or braised - next time. And thank you so much for looking after us so well.

The food was just 'ok'. Absolutely nothing to write home about. Tiny starter portion of 3 prawns in batter (£8). Main of chicken supreme (nice) with nduja gnocchi (zero flavour) and kale (£26). We expected a lot, having last tried the Gingerman (excellent) and thinking this would be on a par. It's just a.n.other gastro place which really isn't that good.

Very limited menu. Very very expensive. Not particularly good food. Dull burger. Dull chicken dish. I don't understand what anyone sees in it! It was busy on the Friday we visited so I guess my opinion is in the minority.

Overpriced for very average food. Couldn’t wait to serve/get us out quick enough. Previously had great experiences but won’t be going back.

Went here for a birthday meal and it was great. They take care of all the little things, and offer just enough (but not too much) customer service. The food was delicious and portions were perfectly sized so as not to be too full, but not still hungry after finishing. They are just very professional and it’s a well oiled dining experience. Happy to recommend this place and will return.

Up till now, regarded going to Ginger Pig as a real treat. A classy place to enjoy meals you wouldn’t cook yourself. The dining room was incredibly noisy. The area of seating uncomfortably cold. My main roast cod, was not hot when served. They had run out of their beef burgers by 8pm on a Saturday night. Alternatives not much of a choice. And vegetarian dishes overpriced. Very expensive for what has now become a dining room serving pub food.

Another fantastic day in the ‘party’ room. 20 of us celebrated a 40th birthday and everyone loved the food, so tasty and all served with a smile! This is our 4th family celebration in the GingerPig and it’s always been great - thank you to all the staff and particularly our host, Marek.

Had a really amazing time at this restaurant!! Staff were just incredible!! Anything we needed was no trouble. Super Dog friendly!!! They offered water for my dog rather than me asking for it and also got given treats by every staff member!! Spoilt dog!! Food.... Is on another level!!! Me and my partner tried something new for a change we tried the haggot pie 😋😋😋 and the lime cheesecake 😋😋 so full of flavour!! We will definitely be back!! We didn't stay in the hotel but from what I've seen the rooms look so nice and modern and is close to the beach and a short walk to the town centre!!

Oh my goodness, best meal and service ever. Haven’t been for a while, no excuse why we haven’t and Wowzers the food did not disappoint. Everything about the evening was perfect. Alex our server was really knowledgable about the food and wine and really attentive. Friend with us is GF and there was plenty of options.

Excellent dining experience, I particularly enjoyed the additional snack element of the menu (in addition to the starters). Ordering multiple snack dishes ahead of the main was a wonderful tasting experience. I also really enjoyed the presentation and flavours of my main course. The hand made icecream and chocolate fondant was exceptional to finish. Wonderful service, the staff were friendly and attentive, I look forward to returning.

My husband and I go there for cocktails, which are always ON POINT. Well presented, perfect taste. Staff are always professional and friendly. I have never seen the rooms, so I don't know what they look like. I reccomend the Ginger Pig if you want to treat yourself to a bit of luxury.

The food and drink at the Ginger Pig is of exceptional quality, and the team are brilliant. The seasonal cocktails were delicious- classics with an imaginative twist. The roasts were perfect, as was dessert. There was a booking mix up on our part and amazingly the host found space for us at a really busy time. Very grateful- thank you 🙏🏼

We had a great little family lunch here. The staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us and our 14 month old daughter, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We had a great time!

Horribly expensive, cheapest wine £29 (over £32 with service) for an inexpensive wine that costs around £8 in a supermarket! The Ginger group was a favourite group of restaurants we used to enjoy before Covid, first time back since, but the prices for both food and wine mean that we won't be going back. Whilst our waitress "Aga" was pleasant enough, being Polish I suspect that they are on minimum wage, possibly!

This is not a cheap place to eat out and there is always that sense of trepidation before going somewhere new that you might be shelling out on a real pig in a poke. You want to have a memorable celebration with the family and know from experience that this could go one of two ways…. The Ginger Pig in Hove is worth every penny that you spend on a meal there. Try as I might I cannot fault it. The food was excellent. Beautifully cooked and served, the menu had something to suit everyone and we all felt we had eaten like princes. But, in particular, the service was impeccable. Nothing was missed, forgotten or wrong. Our main server was absolutely on the ball throughout the evening, as were all the staff we encountered. I think the icing on the cake (literally) was when she brought out a birthday plate and candle at the end of the meal having by chance twigged it was someone’s birthday. So very special and so very welcome. Thank you.

Stayed in the 2 bed mews house which was fantastic! Great to relax in and have extra space when staying for more than a night or so. Totally geared up for self catering and ideal for a family or 2 couples. Outdoor seating area which opens from the living area. 2 well equipped bathrooms, 2 great bedrooms and air conditioning in them. Nice to just go next door for drinks and food and the staff are really helpful and lovely. Stayed here many times but the Mews House can’t be beaten and will be back.

Joint birthday meal and thought Ginger Pig given the reviews. Decided on a Sunday roast. Service was attentive and lots of table water regularly topped up. Starters were tremendous as were the drinks. Main course for the vegetarians appeared to hit the spot. However, the two pork belly roasts defied what was advertised. A few thin slices of dry, tasteless pork that was NOT pork belly. Felt absolutely cheated but was advised by the party to keep my peace. The roast potatoes were merely reheated (I will give you a run for your money with mine) so, overall not what some of us expected. There are better (and cheaper options) for a Sunday roast.

Vi spiste hver vår hovedrett, mannen min fikk makrell til hovedrett som var den beste makrellen han har spist i sitt liv - og han har spist en del makrell før. Jeg bestilte vegetar rett, polenta med squash bloms, asparges og salsa verde og dette er uten tvil den beste vegetar retten jeg noen ganger har spist, og andre beste retten jeg har spist i år. Skulle gjerne komme igjen og spise på denne restauranten.

When we arrived (slightly early), we asked if we could have a drink in the bar before going to our table. Yes they said. This I feel is normal to do? To then be told by the barmen that you can not stand in the bar as they don't have a licence and will need to go to the table as they are full. My question to them would be perhaps get a license so hour restaurant guests can start the eveninv with a drink? We were then escorted to our table to which I raised the point that it's poor not being able to have a pre dinner drink.... the gentleman escorting shrugged it off. No explanation, he didn't care nor did he have time too as he didn't even ask what drinks we would like once at the table. We ordered our food, whilst the pigs head starter and steak were lovely. The chips looked like they were straight out of the freezer bag. The bill came and it was wrong, plus a 12.5% service charge added. The bill being wrong l I felt was due to lack of staff running around. Overall really poor experience for what you pay. Certainly wouldn't go back.

During a short stay in one of the Ginger Pig's lovely, quirky rooms (reviewed separately) my wife and I ended up having more meals on consecutive days in the same restaurant than we have ever done. The superb quality of the first night's dinner persuaded us to book lunch to treat a friend the following day. On the next day, our last, we could not think of anywhere better for dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious with special mention to the cannon of lamb, which all three of us tried on different occasions. Plus three excellent breakfasts - 6 meals in 3 days, a record! The staff are very pleasant and efficient, and particularly helpful with our friend who needs a wheelchair. We just loved the Ginger Pig, and intend to stay there again when we are next in Brighton/Hove.

Lovely hotel great staff only one thing they don't do Guinness in bar they do a great bloody mary good location

We held our anniversary lunch for 20 people in the private dining room, which is a great space with a lovely outside patio. Alex and her staff were extremely helpful in planning the occasion. The service was first class, but unobtrusive; the waitress should be commended. The food was excellent. We would highly recommend this for a similar occasion. Excellent value for money.

Fabulous lunch at the Ginger Pig. I had the pork chop my husband had the burger, which was bound together by marmalade chutney, delicious. Staff super efficient and extremely friendly. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely staff. Went for Sunday lunch. Gravy too sweet and red cabbage very sweet. Won't go back again. Not up to par.

We went to a special night of their food plus wine sampling sponsored and subsidised by their supplier. They were French Malbec so had never known about them cos I am ignorant. They were da fantastic, retailed £15-60 not available to buy on night as this evening was non promotional. No sales pitch, no order forms thumbs up. Food as you suspect was wonderful Home made breads with miso aioli and marmite butter . Love ❤️ it or hate it!! Smoked trout, then too much? Medium rare beef, with yummy chips and caesars salad , finished with english cheese in perfect condition . All including TOO much sampling of wines,for £60 pp Thank you Ben, can’t wait for next one at ginger man
