Best take away chinese in the area, and we have tried most of them. Food is delicious and hot. Very clean and you can watch them cooking. Very friendly girls taking orders and payment. They do take card payments but prefer cash if possible.

I really do not know how this place has high reviews we have just moved to the area and tried a Chinese around corner from here and it was lovely. Gave this one ago as was so highly rated and it was poor, and very disappointing. The meat was tough as boots and after me and my partner both have a stomach ache and don’t feel great. Prawn crackers were old, and the chicken was rock hard. We will never return and go back to the first one we found. Over priced and clearly off meat as we have both been so poorly since eating here tonight

Fabulous Chinese takeaway - best I have had in many years. Tasty and freshly prepared in generous portions. The staff are lovely. The Koon Po Roast Pork & Pak Choi with garlic were stand out, but really everything was delicious. Top notch - we will be back!

Updated review Oct 23. Prices have gone up considerably. Food not good enough to warrant the price, my order was £10 more expensive than the same from my usual Chinese in Ashford. Black bean sauce was under seasoned. Will not be using again.

Food is consistently good and the service is fine. Great menu, all food is cooked on the premises and this is just a great local take away Chinese restaurant.

Probably the best Chinese takeaway in the area but also the most expensive. Cooking is a good standard for a takeaway, and the food is less salty than most. We were disappointed with the Singapore noodles, there’s no bean sprouts or peppers or onions and hardly any prawns and too much curry powder!

Have been going to Golden Gate for years. Would never consider anywhere else. Being a veggie, they have a terrific option. The food is always piping hot when I get home and you can SEE that it is cooked fresh. I cannot say enough about this place. Must have had at good 100+ orders over the years - never had a bad experience.

Great menu, great food, generous portions and reasonably priced. The service is excellent and the food is always hot when you collect. There isn't many takeaways that could beat this one.

My family and I have been visiting this takeaway for nearly 30 years. Absolutely spot on every time we visit. Everything has an authentic taste. Would highly recommend 😊

I’m Completely disappointed with the Service. They gave me the wrong order. I ordered at the counter after checking the menu. On the menu, my order looks deep-fried and crispy. When I got home and checked the food, it was completely different from the menu. You can see it below in the Photo. Does it looks deep-fried as is shown on the menu?????

Food was fair small portions though

we love this take away, good prices, good sized portions and always service with a smile. Can highly recommend pretty much every dish on the menu as we are regular visitors and have tried all combinations.

This takeaway ticks all the boxes for a standard Chinese takeaway and will do a job, but it’s nothing special. My order was prepared very quickly — ready in just 10 minutes (for some that might be a good thing, for me it was a little too quick in terms of it obviously being reheated). There were also some signs of stinginess in portions — ok, so I would expect pineapples and veg with the sweet and sour chicken, but it was exactly the same with the crispy chilli beef (half of the box had this). The egg fried rice also had the least egg I’ve ever seen, must have been 95% rice. Veg noodles were good, with the smoky wok flavour coming through. Like I said, it does a job. But nothing memorable and so I don’t plan on coming back.

Amazing food, always. We frequently get Chinese takeaway from Golden Gate as the food is always delicious and fresh. Some of the best Chinese food we have ever eaten, and we've eaten a lot of Chinese food all around the world! We went last night and it was as delicious as ever, huge portions, so reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Clean kitchen, you can watch them cook. The best covid procedures in place of anywhere I've been in this pandemic. Staff so polite and accommodating, even to my annoying requests! If you're thinking of getting a Chinese then go to golden gate. You won't be disappointed.

I have being going to the Golden Gate for 26 years. I have never once had a problem with any of their food. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The food is cooked right in front of you which I not only find fascinating, but also assured me that their cooking environment is spotless, and the chefs are skilled and efficient. I have tried other places within Folkestone, but all of them do not even get close to the lovely and freshly cooked meals you get at the Golden Gate. I would not go anywhere else. Thank you for giving Folkestone such a lovely Chinese takeaway for all these years.

Prices gone up, quality of food gone down. Rice was stodgy. Chow mein was stone cold in places. Used to be good, but definitely gone down hill.

Golden Gate never disappoints, always a quick service and great food. The only slight negative is that they don’t deliver. With that being said I never mind driving to pick up my food because it beats most places hands down. Chicken Balls with curry sauce always cooked perfectly. Try it out you won’t be disappointed and you will continue to go back there.

Pork in curry resembled something i would not even give my dog. Pork very fatty and had strange texture unlike any meat I've ever had. Put us off eating the whole meal and extras i bought costing just under £40. Crispy beef not crispy at all and prawn toast very greasy. Used to be good.here. will be last time i use this place unfor5.

The black pepper and satay prawns were very disappointing, 5 small prawns and loads of pepper and onions. Mixed hors d'oeuvres and that dish were over £15. Shame as we won’t go back. Go to the Himalayan instead. Knock socks off this food

Easily the best Chinese takeaway in Folkestone, isnt the cheapest but definitely worth the little bit extra. Can be very busy so should be aware of that when going at busy times but they definitely try their hardest to serve quickly. May want to order and pick up to avoid waiting in line!

The best Chinese restaurant there is. I have been eating takeaway from here since it opened. Always very good food, hot and very clean premises and nice staff. Have lived in the area for a while, but have never tried this restaurant. Came with a positive review from someone else. Note to self - always beware the advice of a person you never eaten from. The food was old, cold and largely flavourless, despite my asking for more spice in the the curry, as I was told it was mild. Having eaten in China Town recently at a good old traditional restaurant, I have checked myself to ensure I am not expecting too much. I am note. The food was really bad. They should get a new cook, or stop trading.

Pork curry is nicely seasoned and much better than others in the area. There is a good selection from the menu and at a reasonable price.

Was ok to many vegetables in the chow mein and 4.90 for a fried rice too accompy a curry is way over the top ... Don't think rice comes with any dishes never ever seen this

This is my favorite Chinese take away by far. They have an open kitchen so you can watch the food being prepared. Beautiful and clean with such friendly, helpful staff. They don't do home delivery, but it is so worth the trouble to go and pick it up! Try them, you won't be disappointed!

This is the best place for takeaway I the area, it is not greasy and the portion size is very generous, price is good and the service is very friendly never had an issue in a year.

We got a takeaway from The Golden Gate as a family treat one Sunday. I haveto say I was quite dissapointed and we all thought the food was only just ok, I would say the bottom end of average. I think this place needs to raise it's standards if it wants to compete with many other takeaways in the immediate area.

This is the best Chinese Takeaway in Folkestone by far, we will be sticking to the Golden Gate after having tried others that don't come close. The food is always very tasty & fresh with good size portions at a very reasonable price. The customer service is good the staff aerve you promptly & are polite. The only one thing that is a bit disapointing is that there is no delivery service this is a collection only takeaway. I must say if there was a delivery service wevwould use it more.

Ubicación visitó la semana anterior y pedí un banquetes para 2 por 23 libras. Ordenados en el hasta y tardamos unos 10 minutos para que esté listo, que es bastante impresionante. Tienen una planta abierta, así que puedes ver el personal de cocina, que tenían unos 8 personal. (Muy eficiente! ! ).

Clean, tasty Chinese food. Busy team has lovey open kitchen and they are renowned for being a very popular takeaway even though they are one of the few that don't deliver. Phone bookings are taken.

Para llevar este tiene una gran cocina abierta y está muy limpia y nos visita cuando estamos visitando la zona. Esta visita fue decepcionante ya que la comida era bastante soso. Tuve el más aburridas de pollo Satay de cata que he probado. Tuve que hacer algunos de mi propia salsa de curry para animar. Las raciones son de buen tamaño, pero no es un sitio especialmente barato.

My 'Go to ' choice if we fancy a Chinese. As the title says the quality, taste, choice of dishes are always good. Can be a little busy at times but that just reinforces what a good reputation they have. Thoroughly recommended.
