Cocomee in Shepway

We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant, as the menu looked great. But we were disappointed. Starters were underwhelming . Roast duck was overcooked. The Malaysian curry was ok., but bland. Service was polite and efficient. Had hoped for more.

Visited Cocomee this Friday Evening . Food was excellent and had the atmosphere to match. The service provided by our waitresses was excellent, they quickly got us seated and drinks came over to us within a couple of minutes. Food came out swiftly and was thoroughly enjoyed by all on the table. Exceptional night, we will be back!!

Table of 4 on a Thursday evening. Honestly.. I did my research for the best local Thai restaurant, and stupidly I ignored the reviews. Respectfully, the food was very nice, HOWEVER, the service was shocking. The customer service was honesty horrendous. Completely uninterested...clearly did not want to be there. Two young girls working (18-20Y O max). I get it. I did 17 years in this industry... but you need to learn how to act. Could not tell if there was a manager around or not. So it was very disappointing. Won't be returning, which is a shame as the food was nice.

The food came not properly packed. It was half open when it arrived. The food was disgusting for me. The Korean fried chicken? Too sweet, they poured way too much honey in it. Korean fried chicken taste great when sweet but they made it poorly and the chicken tasted nothing like Korean cuisine. Honestly, I think it was embarrassing to put that dish in the menu. And the Takoyaki? Tasted okay but way too messy. When I got it, the balls were all over the place with terrible representation.

It felt more like being in a bar than a restaurant. Ambience was a tad dark and the place just felt a bit pub-like, which may be great if that's what you like. Wasn't to my liking. Food also was overpriced for what it was. That said, the staff were lovely.

Wasn’t keen on the Kun Po chicken, barely any sauce and very dry. Not worth the money for what I had. This is restaurant price but not quality.

Visited here today after recommendation by friend. Wow, is all I can say. Friendly staff as soon as walked in. They checked on allergies and the waiter checked the menu once chosen as to ingredients. Service was very quick. Duck breast and a Chicken Kung Pao Bento box were so tasty and amazing. Finished off with dessert. Best honeycomb cheesecake and pistachio and mango and passionfruit muchi.

First time at Cocomee but won’t be the last. The food was absolutely incredible, easily one of the best meals of my life. I had the Korean fried chicken for my starter then the Singapore curry laksa with char siu bbq pork and noodles and a side of kimchi fried rice- absolutely incredible, I would eat this every day if I could!! The service was crazy quick too - sometimes I get wary of a restaurant when the food comes out that quickly but the service was flawless and the food was too. Only thing was that it was a bit cold and I had to keep my coat on - but seriously I would happily wear my coat in there every day if it meant I got to eat the food 😂😂 cannot recommend enough, absolutely brilliant experience. Also great value for money - 2 lots of Korean fried chicken, a side of kimchi fried rice, Laksa Curry and my partner had Kakuni Pork belly and it came to £48.

Definitely be returning to Cocomee in the future, had a really nice time there.

Always fantastic food and service

Finally got round to visiting Cocomee and was not disappointed. I had Chicken Satay then Beef Rendang and my son had Pork Gyoza then Mongolian Lamb. I also had a Lychee Mocktail which paired well with all the food. We were both impressed. Every dish was as expected but with extra intensity and polish. I would definitely recommend. The restaurant is popular and was busy with families.

Fantastic food and even better customer service!

The staff was lovely and friendly. However, the food did not meet our expectations and felt overly sweet. The Korean fried chicken was excessively sweet and seemed stale. The tempura udon broth was also too sweet, overpowering any other flavors. Overall, the food left a lot to be desired and did not reflect the amazing East Asian cuisine we've experienced during our travels and at other restaurants in the U.K.

Went out for a family get together and thought we would try something different. Staff were ok food questionable. Starters were ok but the main was greasy and very peppery, I know it was beef with pepper sauce but I think they emptied half the pepper pot on it. Will not be going back here. A definite no.

Staff very friendly and helpful. A very strange set up. Not very warm or welcoming. More like a cafe. Went for a birthday meal. Food was ok. Kung Pao Chicken clearly microwaved as the chicken was getting harder and tougher the longer it took to get through it.

Very good bento boxes... Amazing fast service for a Saturday night! Only slight quibble I had was that the miso soup has sugar in it and didn't taste authentic to my palate.

Wasn’t going to order at first due to prices. But did in end, as Folkestone’s Chinese’s are generally of poor standard. However, this place justifies their high prices with the quality of the food. Will 100% order again

Been meaning to visit for a while, so when my daughter's birthday came around, we thought we'd give Cocomee a try. The manager and staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Food wise, dishes were well presented and tasted great. Not huge portion sizes but enough to show the quality and effort of the chefs. Would well recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Had a catch up with my friend today and we came in for lunch. I was surprised there was no one there when we arrived. Some people did come in shortly after. We got served straight away and our food came out in a timely manner. It was absolutely delicious. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. Very reasonable price. We had starter and main plus drinks. Also they give 10% NHS discount.

Drove into town from London to have a lunch before going to the seaside , think it’s decent for those who don’t eat Asian food often to compare around here . Chicken katsu was good , papaya salad was decent , the pork belly was a bit burnt/dry, obviously and was re grilled from day before. Portions can be less scant, which was disappointing . Giving it an overall 4 because of the good waitress who spoke Cantonese, which was helpful for my in-laws who didn’t speak English and limited in reading the English menu.

Such a great place prob my favourite place in Folkestone. Food is better then Michelin star! Great ambience and good quality all round..everyone should try it!

Food was actually quite good. Some dishes i.e laksa noodle might have been toned down for western taste (too coconut-y). Fried rice with XO sauce was the best I’ve tried in the UK. Lovely attentive staff with thoughtful gestures such as complimentary birthday dessert. Good quality food, great value for money. Would definitely come back.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Folkestone that has real authentic flavours... Then coco mee is the place. I went there twice recently because the food along with the cocktails is just divine. Tonight we shared satay skewers and dragonfly prawns with mango sauce having previously tried it... Delicious for mains we went for lamb monguli and pork dish honestly the pork with honey mustard sauce was so tender it melted in our mouths. My cocktail.. Lemongrass margiterrta was on point. Nothing in this place fails to impress. I would recommend this place to eat as one of the top places in Folkestone.

Had dinner with some friends tonight. The staff were so welcoming & friendly, the food was amazing 10/10 & highly recommend the mongolian lamb! My only negative is it was so cold in the resturant. We all said we would definetly return 🙂

Had a very lovely meal with my family at cocomee. The food was very good and service was excellent. Lots of options which the children loved.

They have a fantastic range of vegan options, which is always a winner, as it means everyone in our party can eat. We've been here quite a few times, mainly for family get togethers and birthdays. Regarding service ... We have always phoned up to double check that we could bring our dog, but the last time we went we were given considerable attitude from the waiter for not asking as soon as we walked in ... We were very close to walking out but he begrudgingly allowed to bring the dog in. Needless to say, by the time we had finished eating, there were several dogs in the restaurant. There was no need to make us feel so bad. The rest of the staff were wonderful.

Came here for my anniversary and they didn’t disappoint. The best chicken wings either of us have ever had(YOU MUST GET THE KOREAN WINGS) and the duck/kung pao bento boxes were also delicious, as well as the duck boa buns(again best we’ve ever had) The staff were very friendly and helpful, and their watermelon mojito was amazing. We would 100% come here again and cant recommend enough to anyone in the area. If I could put 10 stars I would.

First time here went for son's birthday. Food is amazing can't fault. Service is good,friendly and with a smile the staff were all very attentive and helpful. Catered well for my gluten allergy! The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was it was so cold in the restaurant we survived, but did ruin things a tad. Birthday boy was given a free birthday drink. That was a nice touch. Would definitely return, but when it's warmer which is a shame,.

Delicious as always. I had the bento box which I love as it has lots of bits with it, and the Takoyaki which is so creamy.

Unprofessional business. Used to work for them but quit abruptly due to poor/unfair treatment within the workplace. Tried to come back as a customer after half a year to buy my mother food and was refused service by the supervisor. Aside from the lack of professionalism the food itself is lovely but definitely more on the expensive side. Parking is also extremely sparse or a restaurant of it's capacity.

Went here for my birthday, the starters were excellent, nothing really to dislike. The mains unfortunately let down the overall meal, fortunately we ordered alot of starters 😅. Asahi on tap which is excellent. The actual place was very cold inside as its such a big restaurant the radiators can't make a dent in the coldness. Service was excellent.

We took our team out for their festive set menu. Food was fantastic! High quality dishes, with depth of flavour and range of texture and a lot of care taken. we were looked after very well and everyone had a great time.

Fabulous Malaysian classics, a gem right in Folkestone... Kids menu was delightful as well. Won't find better in Chinatown in London.

Food is amazing but the building is a little tired and it's often very cold to sit and eat which is a real shame.

Arrived on a Freezing cold evening in December. Did not have a clue what to order and took advice from the young member of staff who did not portray boundless sympathy or patience for our hesitation and ignorance of 'Pan-Asian' Cuisine. Eventually settled on Kung Pao Chicken, Dim Sun, Rice, Noodles and a Duck dish whose name escapes me. My friend had 2 pints of fruit cider and I had 2 cokes. This is a nice place offers good service and 'nice' food which we enjoyed but........... The Bill was Shocking at £97.00 !! Happily we were offered an 8% discount for paying cash which nursed the bloody nose (a little). It'll be a long time before we return.

We went at lunchtime, we were the only people there. We walked in and felt like we had walked in and interrupted a private meeting. A guy was ? on a laptop and awkwardly moved away without acknowledging us. The lunch menu was very limited. We looked at the main menu before going, but the main menu is not available at lunch. So we had difficulty finding food we wanted to eat (because the lunch menu was so limited). Atmosphere: we felt like we were sitting in a karaoke bar after everyone had gone home. Food: The laksa did not match others we have had. Try Roti King at Euston for a good one. (I've lived in Malaysia) The kung poh chicken was more sweet than spicy. A nice beef rendang would have been good to see on the lunch menu.

Amazing food awesome service. Staff even remembered me from months ago and made us a cocktail not on the current menu ,but from the past because it was tasty and we mentioned it on last visit. Now that is going the extra mile :) have returned many times and will continue to do so . Highly recommend

Crab salad,no crab arrived the rest was just salad,my daughter had a sml container of rice,prawn and scallop,mint leaves had black on them and ginger missing from ginger salad,worst takeaway I have ever had,only good thing was the 3 sml Vietnamese rolls which cost £9.

We had an amazing meal here tonight. With Chinese family in Malaysia myself, and experiencing these types of meals, I had high expectations of the food, and this restaurant surpassed them! The food was simply superb. So nice to have this high quality of service in our little town. Five star rating all the way. Decent spot. The service was brilliant however the food was very average. The Malaysian Chicken curry was very middle of the road sadly and I would not be racing back to have it again . Would recommend the starters though, nice size and tasty.

Better quality food than Wagamama, with similar to a lower price. Had to go on a Tuesday so understandably not much of an atmosphere early, but loved the food so much ordered more for a takeaway a few days later.

We visited for the first time a few weeks ago, mentioned my MSG allergy, took. Time to talk and make sure and we returned a few days ago Outstanding, food and service 5 star

Absolutely my favourite restaurant in Folkestone. I regularly take friends and family there when I'm in town and everyone agrees that it's fantastic food. Very interesting and unusual menu, everything delicious. Exceptionally friendly staff and prices much more reasonable than you might expect for such high quality meals. Today we were a party of 11 people and we were looked after super-well, as always. We will be back! I can't recommend this place enough.

The food was very tasty and a great mix of different items. Look forward to eating from Cocomee again.

They called and asked us to come early, we booked for 8pm, being courteous we agreed to come at 7.30, even though we weren’t that hungry, whilst we were dining they accepted 2 more tables nearly 45 minutes after we sat down!! Starters, duck bao ok, dim sum was good to be honest, but the chicken satay!! When was satay sauce made with tomato paste? Diabolical! So over cooked chewy chicken, moving on to main course, bento boxes.: I can’t even begin to explain how bland and awful these were… on the way back to the hotel we called in for a drink at rose mount who were so amazing from start to finish! Made us custom Cocktails and after hearing us talking about our bad experience, let us order some “bar snacks” incredible bread and feta twists! If in Folkestone head to rose mount!! Cocomee… more like dearymee!!!

Amazing experience. Food is the best Thai I’ve ever had, service was exceptional. Cocktails are well thought out and presented too. The atmosphere is great and the staff are all incredibly hard working. Thanks cocomee!!!
