Golden Chippy in Doncaster

DN1 was wonderful. The service was perfect, the staff were always there when you needed them but never too much. The food was impeccable. We did the 9-course Christmas tasting menu and it was unbelievably good. The chefs are so very talented, the head chef came out and talked to us about finding inspiration for a lot of the meals which was so personal and very interesting. It was a truly great experience and we will defo visit again!

Ate here 2 years ago and it was fantastic. Today it was the absolute opposite. Waited 30 minutes before being offered a drink or menu, when there were only 6 other diners. Cheap crap rose wine that was £27 a bottle. Took a further 30 minutes to be served 6 oysters then waited over an hour to receive 3 mediocre starters, it was shocking and honestly it wasn't busy. What's happened? £90 for 2 was definitely not worth it, such a shame.

£17 for a small fish (described as medium) not a lot of fish under the batter. All of it cold except the peas as they were in a separate pot. I won't be buying from here again. As for how late was it, it's hard to say as the delivery window was creeping farther away all the time.

This is a regular for us. Can't beat it.

Recommended this chippy to my friends as I had bought fish there Monday 6th sept which was amazing . W ell cooked and golden crispy batter. On the Saturday 11th the chips had obviously been reheated and the fish was slimy and batter not cooked. Like we had been to a different chippy. Won’t be recommending and won’t go again
