Really nice fish and chips always perfect worth the travel

Amazing , friendly and professional staff , I orderd something and it wasn't as I was expecting, they soon replaced my order with no extra cost . Thank you fish bits. Food is always fresh and delicious.

My family of six drove from Oxfordshire to visit my wife's mum & dad's grave at Cantley, done some shopping in Doncaster Town and then we stopped at the Fish & Bits shop for dinner! What a great place, we all had fish & chips except my granddaughter who had sausage & chips and the food was just the best there is. The service was just excellent as they were very polite, cheerful and very professional! The place is so clean and tidy, plus if you wanted a beer, you can get one, We visit Cantley cemetery every year and always stop at this fish & chip shop. Thank you,

Staff always friendly even when rushed off their feet. Love the haddock chips and mushy peas. But they do have a very wide menu choice.

When we found out that they fry the fish in the same oil as the sausages......well.....you can imagine our frustration....and disgust!!! Never buying from here again!!!!

My daughters fav place to eat. Food has always been top quality for me. The staff are friendly and fast. Great value meals too.

Called in here yesterday around 4pm for dinner break. I had battered sausage, chips and curry sauce for £6.80. Today I asked for the same thing again and was charged £7.80 this time. When I asked why, the lady said I wasn't charged £6.80 yesterday and called me a liar to which I replied, would you like me to show you my charge on my phone app! She then said it was probably because I was there before 3pm yesterday but I wasn't! I arrived here at 4pm not before 3pm. Then I was served fish instead of the battered sausage and when I asked why she said do you want me to take the fish off? I said no as it's a waste of food and was already on the tray with curry sauce on it. Being charged 2 different prices and then being called a liar has made me decide not to eat from here again. It's a shame because the food is really nice. The last thing the lady said was "well, look at it this way, you've only paid £1 for the fish!" Which made no sense as that means small tray of chips with a bit of sauce on top costs £6.80! It doesn't take a genius to work out that I was being spoken to like I'm an idiot.

Took my mum and was gorgeous. Chunky white flakes of cod, chips cooked perfectly and portion size meant i was full. Great service ☆☆☆☆☆

Everything perfectly. Recommend 100%. Just be more perfect if they start do the deliveries. On option they need do the deliveries and that more people can reach this delicious food 😋

Always a treat to visit this venue. Even the original family owner was in for a chat. Louise’s home made Kitkat cheesecake was delightful. Only downside to find is same as all places - to keep prices the same, the portions are ever so slightly smaller.

If there are any fish and chip takeaways restaurants wanting to improve their establishments, then this is the one to emulate. Here in a few key areas, venue, food, atmosphere, and customer service. This visit would have to be one of the most memorable indeed. Wow, the size of this fish was off the scale and was over the edges of the already large plate. Although my friend had the fish special, the large Cod is still the one to go for. Earlier in the review the customer service had been highlighted, and it’s Ruby who shone brightly in this diamond venue!

The best fish I've ever had in UK but they shouldn't charge for the chilli and garlic sauce tho Chinese sauce was worth paid for.

Traveling back from Essex to Glasgow I took a chance on this place as it wasn't far from the motorway. I'll definitely come back. £21 for a massive fish and chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a coke. I sat in but they do takeaway

After a rough day we were travelling through Doncaster, not having eaten for around 8 hours and absolutely starving; we stopped at this place and grabbed takeaway fish and chips. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The service was great. The premises were spotless. The price was very reasonable. What more can you ask for? We will definitely be recommending this place, and using it again ourselves.

Came in for lunch today just to give it a try after the recommendation from my mother in law and it didn't disappoint. The food was lovely and reasonably priced, and our waitress Sia was absolutely fantastic. Very welcoming and attentive and nothing was too much trouble! Highly recommend and we will definitely return 😀

As a regular visitor of this restaurant and the food is always delicious and I can’t fault it the fish bits special is a bargain. But the last couple of time we have been there is a member of staff in the restaurant that make you feel uncomfortable and that everything is too much trouble. Doesn’t really speak or have a smile on her face. Hasn’t put us of going but it’s not the usual warm ans welcoming experience I have been used to in the past.

Half of chip's scrappy ,disappointed

I don’t know if this place has had a change of ownership/staff but we had fish and chips from there last night and we couldn’t eat them. The fish tasted as if it had been warmed up, the chips were nothing but bits and the sausage was absolutely awful. If I could give a minus rating I would.

Booked the restaurant for a change, as only ever had take away from here before. Food was great and good value for money. Ordered the fish bits special which included medium fish, chips and a sauce. Fish was still big for a medium size. Another person had the homemade pie which was delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly and served us quickly. Establishment was clean and the chairs were comfortable. Cost £71 for 3 main meals, 3 sides, 2 extras, 3 desserts and 5 drinks. As we were leaving we were even given bunches of Daffodils as it was Mother’s Day. Pictured - Fish Bits Special and Sticky Toffee pudding.

Sour of the minute decision to come for tea and so glad we came. Both had Fish Bits Special and couldn't fault it. Cooked to perfection. Fish was large, chunky, white and the batter was nice and crispy. Generous portions. Been several times before COVID but this was the first time since. Definitely come again

I've been indulging my taste buds here for the last 20 years (ISH). Everyone has their opinion on who is the best. My vote goes to Fish Bits. I had the lunchtime special and was not disappointed. Fish (small), chips, fish cake and lashings of Chinese curry sauce. £5.80.

Have given this place 2 chances enough is a enough no more visits for me . staff are rude and the food was poor quality. My first visit was around 20.15 and half the menu wasn't available So I gave them another visit food was poor

I've been to Fish Bits in Doncaster a few times at lunch time with a list for work. It's busy at this time but they have plenty of staff and it keeps moving along. It might take 10 minutes but it's worth the wait for freshly cooked food.

Absolute disgraceful service arrived at 1.05 to ask if ok to take a seat,chucked my knife and fork on table ordered a fish special £12.50 and coke,brought my coke and a glass then I’ve had to ask for some ice too which was another problem!!!!got brought a bread cake with the ice then sat there for 40 minutes waiting the couple next to me,ordered literally a minute before me after 40 minutes when the couple at the side of me had finished their meal bearing in mind exact same meal as I ordered!!!I approached the counter asked where my meal was oh it will be few minutes!!!I said I have to go I’ve been in here 55 mins and the couple next to me have had their meal and finished no apology or nothing!!then said I’ll pay for what I’ve had she had the cheek to charge me £15.38 for basically half a glass of coke feel like been robbed been plenty of times and always lovely but never ever again shocking!!!

The food was tasty and the staff was really nice! I am vegetariana and they had options for me, plus everyone found something they liked on the menu, I recommend it.

It’s the one and only place to enjoy food and association in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere in Doncaster. We ordered many different items off the simplified menu, and it’s a step forward in the right direction. To cut a long story short, everything that we ordered was above and beyond the expectation. Once again I ordered the large cod meal, and on this occasion there was a vast improvement on portion size. Some in our group said I wouldn’t be able to finish it because of the ginormous size and they were wrong. Let’s not forget here, that it’s the custom service that really shone through on this visit, and the waitress named Oana from Romania demonstrated this wonderfully! Maybe consider including the mushy peas, bread and butter, pot of tea included in the large fish meal.

It’s been a while since we frequented this legendary fish and chip restaurant. One of the friends had traveled from India to stay in Doncaster for a few days. All the others ordered the fish chip special which was very good value for money, although I decided to try the large cod meal. Considering it was more expensive than the specials, the large meal could have been more substantial. Maybe more chips, mushy peas, and pot of tea could be inclusive of the price. Although feedback from the friends very positive on taste, quality, venue, and service. I’ve been singing the praises of this landmark restaurant far and wide for many years, and look forward to more visits to come. The £10 tip expressed our appreciation.
