Yesterday at 15:00 I barely found this cafe. Located without a sign inside a fish store. The atmosphere is good, but there is a fair draft due to the lack of doors. The service is bad, at first they charged me for an order of 18 odd pounds and I only received my fish and chips half an hour later.

Great meal in a quirky and atmospheric setting. Highly recommended. My wife and I went for lunch today (Saturday). I had 2 oysters to start, delicious and served with green Tabasco which is unusual. For mains I had bouillabaisse which was packed with a variety of seafood and had a good hit of chilli, really lovely. My wife had the whole lobster from the specials, decent price at £40 and she was more than happy! Service was friendly and efficient despite it being very busy and them being 2 members down. Will definitely go again!

Had heard very good things about the place, and finally got around to trying it. Place had a buzzing atmosphere, and I enjoyed watching the comings and goings of the market during lunch. My tuna tartare was delicious, tuna was almost "melty". My main of halibut had a huge portion of fish. Will be coming back, and hopeful for the trial extended evening opening hours becoming a permanent feature.

The food was fresh and delicious, the wait staff were friendly. The positives end there, value for money is awful, £16 for one large house white is TERRIBLE. Also need to invest in trellis fences with lights, the view and atmosphere when off the main counter leaves a lot to be desired. Good try but do not recommend. Avoid. RESPONSE TO OWNER: I was informed the wine was house white by your staff, that's why I said it. As you may note, others have also mentioned in their reviews the price of your wine so perhaps that is something you need to look into. I don't think the area we were in was charming, it was shabby and dingy and did not match the price point you are charging. I have left many reviews, most of them glowing, however this is my first one through google. It is a shame it wasn't great, but comments and rating are both justified.

I’ve eaten here before and it was very good so I took my wife for a Saturday afternoon treat. To be honest we ate here at the end of the day about 3 pm and sat down, waitress took our order and we had to pay upfront with a £10 service charge. How can you pay a service charge before you have had any service, anyway, we ordered 2 oysters 2 starters and two mains and a bottle of wine £110, a bit pricey but nice wine and fresh seafood so ok. They brought everything together at the same time, so not impressed eating everything at the same time, they apologised with a glass of wine we didn’t really want as we had a bottle and they said it was a new waitress error. The food and wine was very nice but don’t go at the end of service as you are kind of rushed to finish and they are tidying up around you, which isn’t pleasurable, especially when you’ve just forked out £110 for the privilege. We may go back at a different time but we probably won’t. Shame really, could have been a great experience.

It was a hot day and we fancied some light food to eat after a busy few hours in the Dome for an event. Situated inside the market lies this treasure trove. Walking up to the fish counter we were uncertain if they were closing as lots of staff members were huddled around talking. After getting someone's attention they reassured us we could sit down and someone would come serve us. The menu consisted of small and large-sized versions of most dishes, from moules to seabass. I asked about the risotto would sounded delicious with asparagus, salmon, prawns and other tidbits but I opted for the crab and lobster bisque in corvorsieur. To share chose the popcorn cockles, and oyster each and he ordered the fish and chips. The oysters were skillfully opened in front of us and served with varius condiments. The battered fish was stunning along with the fresh tartar sauce and mushy peas. The chips were tasty but I think triple-cooked is a bit overkill for my preference. My bisque looked stunning especially with a large prawn posed on top however the flavour was strong! Really concentrated, and tasty but personally needed watering down, I used my partner's chips to help break it up. Overall everyone was really friendly just felt there was a lot of staff but little communication, we would be asked the same question minutes apart by different servers, wrong drink orders were provided and no spoon with the soup. The food as a whole was presented beautifully and was fresh and tasty. I just wish I had ordered the risotto! Highly recommended though

I visited this place many times in the past. Sometimes with my husband and sometimes with friends when we would easily pass a whole afternoon trying several dishes one at a time and with a leisurely couple bottles of wine. On my first visit back since the change of ownership I found the food still to be of a good standard however the price of the wine is now extortionate ( much more than many top restaurants ) which has now made it unaffordable so I’m afraid I won’t be returning again

Booked a table and at the time of booking was asked which side, I asked for outside as I have a dog, however, when we arrived a member of staff had to walk around to find a space! They sat us on the inside as it was the only space. The wine list is a really poor choice, very mediocre wines for a top price tag. £17 for a glass of chenin blanc is outrageous. The Clam and Cork used to have a great wine selection and i regularly purchased bottles of Sancerre which is alot better quality and more expensive than the wines on offer. They no longer have a red choice. We asked to try the rose wine, they did not have any, asked to try another white, they did not have any. The only wine they had was the chenin blanc and I refuse to pay £17 a glass. We left not having tried the food so I can't comment on that but sadly I won't be returning.

I was glad this place is open again! Heard many good opinions and finally had a chance to check it out while in Doncaster!!! Located at the market, food is sourced daily from the sea food suppliers. My favourite is always calamari and I had to try it as a starter!!! The best calamari I ever had. They did not disappoint, it was delicious, cooked to perfections with enough crumbs but not over done it. The dish was fantastic, each piece was juicy and you could taste the meat! Very recommend. The main I had a scallops which was devine! Very fresh pieces, the same cooked to perfection! Serving plates looked beautiful and you would not expect it to see at the market. I could see people stopping just to have some oysters which are open in front of you! The place can turn very busy but you can sit and watch the magic cooking happening in front of you while you wait for your food. Definitely I will be returning for more experience.

Whilst on a short trip to Sunny Donny. We couldn't leave without trying out the newly re-opened dining spot. Located in the Fish Market, where else? On arrival, the place was heaving with eager diners sitting on the stools whilst watching the chef's busy preparing their orders. We were a bit apprehensive as we had our doggies with us.But having been advised, they are most welcome to sit with us,we were shown to the last two seats available. Once seated, we were handed a one page menu, and the very friendly staff mentioned there's a specials board on the wall. In front of you, there's Oysters galore in their shell, sitting on a bed of ice, keeping them so fresh. They were disappearing before our eyes,as people were ordering them left right and centre. If you like your seafood, you are spoilt for choice. From the main menu, we ordered the crab spring roll, served with a watercress, and a lovely spiced jam to dip the two halfs in. The three King Prawns were massive. Served with the tails on, in a spicy chilli marinade finished in butter, cilantro. These were amazing, and we could have eaten them all day. Off the specials board, we ordered the scallops with pork belly, fresh peas, celeriac, and pork scratchings. It was an unsual combination but still delicious. Then there was the Crab and king prawn bisque. Made with courvoisier brandy & double cream served with just the right enough French bread slices. We could have stayed the whole day and gone through most of the menu, but our doggies were getting bored and drooling over the food as much as us. We are so glad we stopped by,it's well worth a visit.

We managed to get a late lunch walk-in spot on Saturday 12th. A busy service. A couple of menu items had understandably run out by the time we sat down but the plates ordered (Plaice Goujons, Calamari and King Prawns) were very well put together and expertly seasoned. Portions were very reasonable for the price. Add in a couple of glasses of a really elegant Albarino and a bill of less than £60 and job's a goodun! The setting is appropriate and you'd almost think you were in a fish market in Spain if it weren't for the boarded up vape shops and bookies you could see out of the window. ;-) Doncastia! Service was okay. Chef and staff also asked how was the food. Oyster was okay I had 2 and the rest looks broken so my dad and hubby had those. Lobster linguine was good loved the sauce. Mussels on the other had… they were off. We had to spit it out as the bad taste was awful, I think around 4-5 of really bad ones. But others were okay. Went back to hotel and my hubby threw up together with diarrhoea, 3 times in a row. Was thinking maybe he had those bad oysters. Then an hour later my dad had diarrhoea too. So far I am still okay. Hopefully I have avoided the bad oyster and those bad mussels 🤞 I also told the chef when he asked how the food was about couple of “off mussels” he said sorry and I said it’s fine. Was there with my gf for a short day trip to Doncaster. Everything about this place was fab. We ordered (cold plate) tuna tartar, (hot plates) mussels and scallops. We also open a bottle of white wine to go with the seafood. The seafood was all fresh and properly seasoned. We were amazed immediately after the first plate (tuna tartar) was served. But the most impressive dish to us was the mussels. Unlike the other two dishes, the mussels really lacked plating. but the mussels matched really well with the creamy sauce and the crusty bread. We at the end even soaked all the crusty bread to the really delicious sauce. It was an open kitchen setting and we got to watch how the two chefs cooked the food while we were eating. An overall very pleasant experience. We spent no more than £60 for three exceptional dishes with a bottle of wine!! It was worth travelling all the way from London to try it out. This time when we went here we were told that they were out of oysters on bank holidays. That was a shame but we will be back for the oysters!!!

We love this place, it’s like the South Yorkshire version of a place in The Boqueria market in Barcelona. But this is the second visit in a few months when we’ve been disappointed. The problem is drastic cuts in the number of chefs and front of house staff, coinciding with a big increase in the number of seats. The result is no specials and a very cut down menu - half of which was not available on the day we visited. Our seats were facing a pile of dirty pots. Just one person taking orders, serving and clearing away - she was run off her feet. Just one chef and an assistant. Message to the owners - put your hands in your pockets and hire more staff please. We’ll give it one more try and hope for the best.

The Clam and Cork is a quirky eaterie situated in Doncaster fish market. Food is served around the periphery of an old fish market stall. It’s undercover but outside so you need to wrap up if it’s cold. The food is prepared before your eyes, the menu is limited but good. The staff are friendly and we had quite a long chat with the chef and a photo opportunity with Lord Ian Botham who happened to be there with his family. No his food wasn’t burned to Ashes! Portion size isn’t large but that gives you an excuse to try more dishes. Overall a tasty, thoroughly enjoyable lunch.

We had walked past this place a few times whilst buying fish from the stall next door but never had time to have lunch - until last week. We had messaged them a few days before to book a table but only heard back a couple of hours before we wanted to eat. As it happened half of the seats were still available when we arrived but it’s probably worth trying to book at the markets busiest times. The menu has a few small plates and a similar number of large plates - if you are considering going then you obviously like seafood so the menu is a challenge - we wanted to try everything! In the end we both chose the monkfish burger and I had a couple of oysters whilst waiting. The oysters were fantastic! The monkfish burger was great in every way - well cooked fish, nice slaw and a good bun. Chips were thin and crispy. Staff were very good and entertained us when we were not eating. Certainly will be back regularly!

This was a whistlestop visit. Drink options were great and I went for the house gin which was really tasty and garnished well. The oysters were great. Simple garnish of lemon and hot sauce. Was a tad surprised at the lack of mignonette but that’s no issue. The oysters were fresh and tasted great. The haddock croquettes were incredible. Well cooked and tasted fantastic. Attached to the fish market, you either sit at the bar where the food is prepared, or at one of the small chrome tables outside on the pedestrianised street..... don't expect table-clothes and silver service. Food options are from a short menu of either small or large plates, all of which are based on fresh fish or seafood direct from the market. All looked good, although some of our first choices had already sold out. Settled on sea-bass and mussels, and torched mackerel, as well as an extra side of chips. Both tasted fantastic - fresh fish, cooked to perfection and served with perfectly matched sauces and accompaniments. Add a bottle of very good albarino wine, from the short wine list, and you have the perfect lunch in Doncaster.

Bad Service... We visited Saturday lunchtime whilst it was moderately busy. We were really excited at the prospect of a seafood treat here and didn't really mind the 25 minute wait that we had. However, new arrivals were being dealt with before us, which was strange. We started to order and I requested that we receive our drinks at the same time as our food. The reply given was, "l really think it would be better if you had your drinks first. Seriously." She sounded very insistent which I didn't appreciate at all. I understand the game but at midday we did not want to fill ourselves with more than one fizzy lemonade and a beer. I really don't think our request had been so unreasonable. We immediately left, feeling very disappointed and rather patronised. I wish this review was going to change this apparent policy but I doubt it will make the slightest bit of difference. Oh my! First time here and absolutely amazing. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and just overall plain helpful. The food is delicious and the place unique. With blankets and hot water bottles provided by Clam and Cork we tried superb crispy fish and chips, seared sea bass, crispy calamari and a slightly smoky fish chowder which I can’t wait to have again.

What an amazing little restaurant! Me & my partner are massive foodies and this is the best food in Doncaster by far… & to top off an amazing meal, the staff were so lovely and welcoming. Highly recommend!

One of, if not my favourite restaurants in and around Doncaster. Fresh food and reasonably priced. It's a great atmosphere aswell as you can see your food being cooked in front of you. If you like seafood.. you will love this place.

Four of us enjoying a birthday celebration out in Doncaster last Saturday, came across the Clam and Cork in the fish market and were really lucky to be able to sit and enjoy a plate of freshly prepared oysters, king prawns cooked in garlic, chilli and lime and a well chilled bottle of white wine. We were so pleasantly surprised at our discovery of this wonderful eatery and we cannot praise it enough. It's definitely worth a ten star review. We would recommended to book a seat in advance with them as we were extremely lucky to be able to do this inpromptu.

I must say the quality and taste of the food was absolutely delicious and first rate but the portions small for a main at £21.95. The service was however abismal. The mains arrived before the starters. The bread was forgotten. Second glass of wine never arrived. I complained. We were offered the oysters free of charge but who wants oysters after a meal? I took my father as a treat. We received 10% off the bill and a heartfelt apology. We were however hungry when we left and went to eat again.

Best seafood for miles around and a small but inventive menu of delicious food. Updated review. Sadly since refurb service has gone down the swanny. I was sat over half an hour and watched several people that arrived after me have their order taken. In the end I had to flag a waitress down as I've places to be. Foods still good though hopefully they will sort things out. Pleased to say I went again the other day and things were running amazingly well, swift service and lovely food 🥰

Called in at just after 1pm for a spot of lunch and drink on a Tuesday. There weren’t many customers being served by about half a dozen staff. After waiting 10 minutes and being completely ignored decided to leave. Very disappointed.
