Chips were horrible not like normally had weird taste

Ordered a large fish which in the past was lovely this one today was badly cooked and tasteless will not go back

Always 1st class food and delivery

The delivery was great and the meal is magnificent thank you very much golden chippy

The fish batter was oily, greasy, tasted like flour, too thick and just poor quality. The fish itself was tasteless, mushy and there was hardly any, it was just mostly batter. The donner kebab tasted reheated and some of the chips were rock and oily

Was great but it was 20 minutes early from the time I asked for. So had to put in the microwave because not everyone was ready

food was delicious and hot on arrival. we've ordered from here before and will again

Food was lovely, we had a bolognese pizza which was fantastic. Cheese Burger was great, love that you can opt out of extras you don't want. Chips very tasty.

fish was very chewy. first time I have given a bad review. it was late and fish was coated in thick nasty batter, it tasted like the fish was cooked by a child. absolutely awful. such a shame as I've never had a bad meal from here.

unfortunately garlic sauce on mixed kebab and also on salad kebab in which it was not requested so salad in bin scraped garlic sauce from mixed kebab so hardly any salad left fish and chips fine.

I had the chicken kebab, it was delicious, loads of chicken, definitely would have this again, an outstanding amount of chicken for the price, first class meal and service, thank you

Ordered a delivery..not been here for years but thought we would give it a try again....fish wasn't cooked properly and battered was gooey on inside ..kebab meat was disgusting and the salad was very sparse. .won't be returning unfortunately

Owner is very friendly, his staff are lovely and the food is exceptional, like a traditional Chippy. I normally call up with about 15 minutes notice and he cooks it fresh and boiling hot (they still serve excellent haggis too). Hidden gem 👌

Haven’t been here in years and have been so disappointed with my local f&c. I am pleased to say the food is still as good. Fish cooked fresh as well as sausage. Chips were really good. I hate dry chips and these were good old traditional fish and chip shop chips. Amazing Thankyou

Popped in tonight for 1 fish and chips and 1 kids fish bites and chips. Chips were lovely, the fish was huge and so tasty. I always wonder how good places get it so wrong, but these were perfect, Judy what we wanted and thoroughly enjoyed. Hot and fresh, def recommend 👍🏻

Literally would give a 0 to this place, mainly due to staff attitude. Ordered a pizza and chips. Chips were cold and pizza was way overdone that the crusts were burnt. Called Golden chippy to tell them, and the guy on the phone just gave us some really bad attitude! . Definitely wont be ordering from a place this again. Disgusting behavior!

Chips are good and so the portion sizes and prices but on one occasion I was served cold kebab meat and there are more chips on the floor behind the counter than you could possibly imagine, very messy and the man who serves is the most arrogant person I have ever met in my whole life.

You order cod bites and chips 6times curry sauce and pop 41 pound what you get are 6 pieces of fish absolutely tiny pieces 6 bags of chips and pop will never shop here again total rip off

Very quiet place. Service was OK. Owner was on mobile phone at the time, my feeling was he was a bit put out that I had come in to the shop. Chips were nice though.

Nipped in for a quick tea, got fish bites and chips for my son and we got meal deal 4, which was adequate for both my wife and I. We will be going back!

Used this chippy for the years, had to wait 1hr 25 mins for a delivery, cancelled the order at the door after been told 40 - 45 mins. Complacency deffo setting in new customers come first, absolutely a disgrace. Fenham fish bar the way forward 👍👍

Freshly cooked in veg oil, its takes around 1/2 hour to cook the fish yet worth wait, free parking in narrow lane next to chippy

Ordered at 9.15pm to pick up ASAP via just eat, they close at 9.30pm, denied my order even though I was standing at the door basically, absolute b******s, only kebab/chippy I know shuts at 9.30pm, won't be ordering again, ridiculous man. Idiots, I walked past at 9.16pm and there were people still being served, what is the point in @just eat?

First time I have tried chicken kebab and it very tasty

Good food at reasonable prices, always hot & delivered in good time. We get a special & it fills 4 of us. I like the garlic bread with cheese & kids love the kebab meat. Staff are always friendly too.

We came to order end of term treats for the staff. We came in last minute on a Friday lunchtime and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Triple checked our order. Labelled all the packages so it was easy to divide when we got back and even helped us carry it to the car, in the rain! An absolutely five star service. Literally couldn't be faulted. Staff said the food was delicious. We will definitely be using again.

We have had these pizza's and kebabs for over 6 years now!!!! We have moved and there is no pizza place that makes everything from the scratch they are the best newcastle pizza place by far keep up the good work

Has this changed hands, worst food ever, chips reheated must been from Saturday, pizza dripping with grease. Dare not open the wrap its bigger than a house brick. Won't be back

Best chippy for takeway around this area

Ordered a large donner and large donner wrap both with salad, dips and portion of chips with some batter. Everything was perfect as usual. 5* best chippy takeaway around.

Food with no taste just stodge and grease. Forgot most of our order when called up blamed everyone but himself. Plenty of other takeaway places with better food and service will not be going back

Order regular but not sure I will return placed order at 19.50 and it arrived at 21.10 absolutely freezing

Best local chippy, cooked fresh when you order. Chips are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Jummy

Used to like there food but not now and i will not be a returning customer. I walked in placed my order sausage and chips twice with a curry. The staff thought more of there online orders than a customer in the shop so i had to wait till there dilivery was finished. Then my order was finally done in a hurry. Got home then found out the sausage was under cooked like mush. For the fact we paid £9 over priced for 2 sausage and chips and a pot of curry. This will NOT be going to golden chippy again.

Food the worst ever had meat feast pizza was off and smelly chips under cooked ate a little ended up vomiting and bad runs my son ill too I have used these alot but this meal deal made us ill was very disappointed wont be going back for a while that's for sure wasted £20 quid🙁

Terrible absolutely discussing will never go again! Nearly broke a tooth eating the kebab meat, even my dog turned his nose at it

Hot and spicy? Surely this means hot with spices? Well it certainly doesn't mean no spices whatsoever. Very disappointing

Food lovely not amused at delivery food dumped at doorstep no sign of delivery man , no thank you, nothing! I know the situation with covid its fine to put it at the step but could have kept distance and a thank you would go a long way end of the day I pay delivery charge so a simple bit of politeness would be nice

Used this place a few times, it used to be really nice, lately we have placed orders, been given a delivery time only to be messaged 5 minutes before order was due that they had cancelled our order due to no delivery drivers, cant see the point of them taking orders to be delivered to be told 5 mins before its due that they cant deliver as they have no drivers.

Good selection, delicious food, massive portions and great prices can call in your order so you dont have a wait picking it up

The chips were over cooked and the sausage was undercooked. They tasted awful, not worth the money. The staff member who served me was rude and barley seemed to understand English.

Made to feel like an inconvenience when waiting to be served, very greasy batter and chips, many of the chips appearing to be from less than fresh potatoes. Not sure how they're in business considering the quality of competition nearby in the name of Fenham Fish Bar, Gormans & Frydays. Won't be returning!

Tray of kebab meat,chips and chilli+garlic sauce after work on a Friday afternoon......marvellous. They certainly don't skimp on the portions 👌

It's OK but staff could not understand me and I could not understand them so just pointed at the menu. Food porshions where very small

I try to support local businesses. But this place is beyond help. It was recently 1* health rating but progressed from there. Anyway, I’ve ate there for 10 yrs but since the son has taken over it’s a disgrace. I’ve just been on the phone saying my chips weren’t cooked, (which I’d mentioned while being served) apparently they serve mashed potatoes now. No loyalty, no standards, no good. AVOID!

Previous orders have been spot on. Tonight I waited 75 minutes for our order to arrive soggy and under cooked batter. I also ask for a menu to be included which wasn't VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!

Food always spoton and good size portions, we normally order in meal deals for them family days when to many to cook for, plenty to go around.

Just had jumbo cod n chips delivered, NOT HAPPY AT ALL! supposed to be boneless fillets, tail was full of them, the batter was blown up which made it look a nice size. when i opened the batter the fillet was very thin and it was haddock, it looked bigger with the batter and underneath was a separate lump of batter pushing the middle higher. Not nice at all, i complained and owner said it is cod my friend. No it wasn't! yes it is, i have 10 boxes in the back. FROZEN FISH THEN, that's not good, it doesn't suggest a golden chippie to me and NEVER USE AGAIN ! if i hadn't eaten any of it and taken it back to the shop it could be replaced. If i'd been able to get to the shop, i wouldn't have had it delivered. Con artist, but i did give it 1* for delivery. Use somewhere else if you want fresh fish, i'm sure i will! NO WONDER WHEN I'VE PASSED, NEVER ANY CUSTOMERS IN. I KNOW WHY NOW!!! there's my review, by very disgruntled customer!!!
