Had chicken biryani and chicken damask. Also had popadoms. I am a curry lover and can honestly say that this is the worst Indian that I have ever had. The popadoms tasted of fish and the chicken in both dishes was tough. I threw the lot away and wasted £21.

Staying in our caravan at Fairlight Woods CC Site. Having had a great day on the beach with Bonnie (our Miniature Schnauzer), we didn’t feel like cooking so found our nearest curry house - turns out it is Gold Spice. Ordered Chicken Shaslik, Lamb Biryani and a Naan bread . Collected bang on time. (That’s worthy of comment!!) Tasted fantastic- best I have had in a very long time Highly recommended

We have just had a lovely meal at the Bay lead. We decided to eat in instead of a takeaway. The food was excellent. Well worth the wait. Cost for the 2 of us.

Had a takeaway while visiting in Hastings and this was very possibly the best curry I've ever had. Very honest, cooked from fresh (you can tell!), and was simply lovely. Highly suggest anyone who likes curry to try this restaurant!

We have just enjoyed a very tasty take away meal from this restaurant. Food was lovely although as others have said we were told 45 mins to 1 hour and received the order at least 20 mins longer after a chase call. We will still use them again as it is very convenient, perhaps they should add 20 minutes to their timings then if it came quicker we would all be pleased.

The Bay Leaf Indian Restaurant only opened a few weeks ago so tonight we decided to order a take away. Their website directed us to Just Eat where the meu was available and the choice of delivery or collection and ordering online was quite easy. It's a nice big menu so after making our choices and deciding to collect we were shown what we had ordered and then clicked through to Checkout where we then had to register with Just Eat before continuing. We paid by Debit Card but there was still an additional 50p added for using Just Eat. On collecting the order the staff could not have been friendlier and the food was very very good. We now have their menu so will ring our order through direct to them in future and pay when we collect. This will save us the 50p and the restaurant the fee they have to pay Just Eat. It seems that a lot of the complaints were about the delay in delivery. We will certainly go there again.

Ordered a take away at 7pm for a local delivery. Was told would arrive in 44 mins to an hour. "Great, I thought. Ideal" 2 hours and 2 chasing calls later, it arrived! Food was good, my feedback was "learn from it please!" Don't tell someone 45 mins to an hour, then tell me you were too busy 2 hours later! Be honest with you customers and they will understand! Tell them something you have no commitment or realistic way of achieving and you will lose them!

Called in for the first time last night. The food when I got it home was excellent. The meat tender and flavours well balanced. Very well cooked and all still piping hot after the drive home. Unfortunately the service was slow and disorganised. A new waiter may have contributed to the problem. I will definitely use Bay Leaf again but in a couple of months when hopefully the service has improved.

Saturday 4th March. Arrived at 7.30 our table wasn't ready. We were a party of 7 and looking forward to a great evening. We had to ask for some drinks and menus and after a wait we ordered poppadoms and our food. Got the popps' but then the real wait began. Seemed that there were lots of deliveries going out but no food in the restaurant. Three people on the next table who were there before us still had no food. After an hour and 45 mins we all gave up and put a tenner each on the table for drinks etc and decided life is too short. one of our group put his head into the kitchen and said that there was no food being cooked, just a couple of staff having a flour fight. This will go down as the Indian we never had.

A group of 8 of us went here on a Saturday evening. I'd booked a table for 6pm around a week in advance. When we arrived we were the only customers seated in the restaurant, although they also do takeaway of which there seemed to be many orders. Our drinks order was taken quickly, but we weren't given any menus until nearly 630pm. We promptly ordered mainly currys and rice with a couple of sides. Our meals came to the table in dribs and drabs starting from 745pm. The restaurant is new so teething problems are understandable, however an hour and 15 minute wait is a bit excessive. When the food did start coming to the table the curry dishes were brought first, they sat on the table for around 10 minutes while we waited for the rice dishes to arrive. This was a little frustrating as the meat dishes had started to cool by the time we began to eat. The food itself was lovely, good quality and good portion sizes and the staff were friendly. The waitress in particular had a great sense of humour and managed the situation well. If it wasn't for the service this restaurant definitely would've got a 4 star rating and maybe even a 5! I expect if it was just 2 or 3 of you eating the wait would be shorter, but at the moment I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a large group.

A fabulous Tandoori restaurant, right on the seafront - great quality food, very polite and timely service, great value. As a visitor to Hastings and St Leonards (and the UK, these days), I was looking for Indian food and stumbled across this gem. Excellent quality Chicken Tilka (it’s clear their tandoor is good and hot - there’s a beautiful crust on the juicy chicken chunks!), excellent lamb curry, and I can only assume their cilantro is locally sourced, because it was super fresh and tasty. Our server was an extremely attentive and pleasant young chap who carefully trod the line between being there when you need him and being there too much with excellent judgment - top marks to that young man, who deserves great credit for his work. The only thing I can say which would improve this place is more customers - they don’t know what they’re missing!

I really wanted to like this place as it would our local Indian restaurant and I like the variety of veggie options, including potato, vegetable or paneer choices available on a wide variety of dishes. Perhaps we visited them on an off day, but the service was so poor that for probably the first time ever in a restaurant we did not tip. We arrived 2 and a half hours before closing but the restaurant was empty with no music or atmosphere. We asked if we could have a table for two and were met with a grunt and the pulling back of a chair. Some music was turned on which thankfully made it seem less empty and quiet. We were given the menu but almost straight away asking if we were ready to order. We weren't offered a poppadom to start and when we asked for this it seemed to be an inconvenience. The glasses the Cobra came out in were poorly washed. Then, as we were eating the poppadoms, the waiter kept peering over the table and literally the very second one person finished he cleared their plate despite the other still eating. This same pattern was repeated for the mains. The last one of us to finish our main was left eating whilst he was reaching over and completely clearing the table around. We just got the impression we were unwanted there and an inconvenience. To make it particularly clear that we were unwelcome the waiter turned the music off whilst we were in the final stages of our meal. It would have been partially redeemed had the food been good, but sadly both dishes were bland, flavourless and lacked spices. We gave them a chance despite being empty and we can now see why no one else had chosen them on a weekend evening. Disappointing.
