GOGO's Waterfront Restaurant in Windsor and Maidenhead

First time we have visited this place. Drove over an hour to meet family. Very awkward to find and park. Restaurant felt very tightly packed in with tables, and not much room to move. We were a party of 7 and the service was awful. Everything was very slow and we spent a lot of time waiting. We were never asked if we would like more drinks, if the food was ok. We had to constantly try to make eye contact with someone in order to try and get a drink, or order food. Some of the waiters were rude, and one had an attitude problem, making us feel uncomfortable. Once ordered they even forgot one of our parties food so we had to wait until they made it before we could start, meaning our food was getting cold. When it did come out there was no apology. The food was overpriced for what we recieved. The chicken was extremely dry, the steak over cooked. These dishes also don’t come with any accompaniments and if you want a bit of salad with your steak for example you have to order this as a separate dish. I can’t see how they can charge over £20 for just a chicken breast and chips. Drinks were also overpriced, and as in a previous review this place has a captive audience because of where it is.

Loved my experience here, service was excellent and food was superb. I’ll definitely be back.

The location, the scenery and the overall atmosphere is amazing. Absolutely love going to this restaurant. Few slight issues such as extra menu and table water not coming when asking the staff, especially because it wasn’t overly busy when we visited, and the warm bread starter was actually toast. Other than that the mains were incredible (though the chips were a little overdone) and I would recommend to anyone wanting to eat at a nice restaurant. The issues we had are something we have not experienced the other three times visiting so hopefully just a one off. All servers are extremely friendly as well, which adds to the experience. As a side note, it would be good to have more vegetarian and vegan options, as there were only 2 mains to pick from. The vegan burger was incredible but would be nice to have some choice.

We were a party of 6. Service was awful Chicken was very dry Coconut and crayfish salad was mostly coconut and lettuce , hardly any fish. Beef burger was over cooked and dry. Have been to gogos many times before and it’s been really good but this time the food and service was awful. We had friends with us that travelled from London so we wanted to take them somewhere nice but gogos was very disappointed. Reluctant to return now.

I booked a table for dinner for a special occasion, for a birthday. However it took so long for us to be asked if we would like to order a drink, it was a very long wait until we were asked if we could order a drink which wasn't a great start. Then it was a very long wait for both food and drinks. Our starters arrived before our drinks had even arrived, which wasn't ideal at all. I also put a note on my reservation to state that it was for a special occasion for a birthday- but nothing was organised or brought out to celebrate the birthday not even a small dessert which I'm very disappointed about. Food However was the only part of this meal which did not disappoint. Service was awful and very delayed.

Lovely restaurant in a great setting with a lovely ambience.

Felt a little bit let down this time as we've been before and really enjoyed GOGOs but we will definitely go back again for a lunch - beautiful location on a warm summer's day. We were a table of two dining on a Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday. The food was tasty (it is expensive), we both had the chicken skewers and the staff are really nice, super polite and smiley. We had to ask to place a drinks order after 10 mins or so as no one came over, no great drag, but we only ordered two pints of beer and then had to chase those up as they hadn't appeared almost 15 mins later. Food probably took about 40 mins to come out which we felt was a bit slow. There was a drunk guest who seemed like a friend of the bar staff or off-shift employee rudely and loudly harassing the bar staff intermittently all night. The main restaurant area was deafening loud, but good atmosphere if you're looking for lively.

Great food and even better service! Roberto was class and offered an amazing experience on my birthday!! Thank you. Will be back soon

We have visited Gogo’s many times before and had a great time, however last week the food was good but the service was not so good! We had a bottle of Rose wine and when we ordered a second the wine was a completely different colour, it looked like a white wine although the label was the same. We asked about it before opening the second bottle and they f they had another one that looked the same and they said they didn’t, anyway when we ordered another bottle they had one that was like the first bottle. We also ordered a couple of gin & tonics and the bottles of tonic we were given were boiling hot. So we asked about that and they said they’ve given us gin with ice so what’s the problem. I said we didn’t want hot tonic and they explained that they don’t keep tonic in the fridge, but the tonic wasn’t room temperature it was hot. So we said we didn’t want the gin and tonics and then they managed to find 2 cold tonics that had been in the fridge! This was at the point we saw the rat running around near our table outside in the covered area. We weren’t the only ones who saw it. Have definitely been put off going again, even without the rat incident the service and attitude of the manager isn’t worth the money! What a shame as we loved Gogo’s.

It is with great sadness that I write this as I use this restaurant a lot. I visited yesterday for brunch with my friend for a booked table. We waited for 40 minutes before our order was taken and that was only because we asked the waiter when he came to the table next to us. There was no apology, we ordered coffee and our lunch. The coffees took a further 20 minutes to arrive, the food another 30 mins ( again no apology). Other customers who were seated after us had ordered taken and were served before us. Our order wasn’t complicated ie avocado and poached eggs. The food as always was hot and good so very happy with that. We again waited to catch the attention of a waitress who looked bored to death leaning against the wall. They weren’t particularly busy, although there were customers in the outside area. It’s a real shame as I’m back there again on Monday for a pre booked brunch, so I’m hoping that this was just a blip!

We went on a fabulous sunny day & it had great holiday vibe about it next to the river. Stunning location & wonderful food & wine menu. Service was not great sadly. it was slow with inexperienced staff. For example when our starters were cleared & cutlery taken, we were not given any new cutlery & had to wait 5+ minutes whilst our mains were in front of us. We had to ask for water 3 times before we received it. The chicken burger was charred on both sides & rock hard & the burger bun was burnt too, so was not eaten but they did take that off our bill. All the other food we had was superb! Crayfish & coconut salad a must!

Only 1 waiter for a reasonable number of tables. We were in no hurry but service was slow.

Had a lovely meal out surrounded by the marina scenery and warm sunset. Drinks menu had an extensive gin collection in it with pairing tonic ideas. Service was very good.

The place was very very busy, which is great to see for business sake, but not so good when you saw number of staff trying to cover! There just wasn’t enough staff. Our drinks sat on bar for an age - so long the bar tender had to top up the beer as head flopped, my husband was going to get them himself and would have if my daughter wasn’t so embarrassed the wine we ordered to go with our mains turned up before our pre dinner drinks! The starter were delicious. The mains then took another age. They were ok. Chips still hard. My lamb skewer was well done and needed a steak knife to get through (which I didn’t have). The waitress asked to clear the table and then just left half not cleared and said do you want desert and never returned with menu. I grabbed her attention as my son Was waiting for his drink. Had to wave furriously at staff around bar for bill and then go to counter to pay. Overall. Decided if it wasn’t for the Passion fruit martini’s we ordered to celebrate our daughter birthday. It would have been a complete fail of a celebratory dinner. My friends and I were due to go again on Thursday 15th to celebrate more birthdays- but following my family experience- we cancelled and are going elsewhere.

We had a big party for my birthday. The food was cold when it arrived .2 of our meals were sent back and 2nd attempt was cold ..it was a shame as we are local to your selves .

Great location, outside in wonderful in the hot weather, fun & friendly staff and great food and drinks - what's not to love?

We came with a part of 10 for a friends wedding anniversary and our waiter Roberto made the evening feel even more special. He was courteous, funny and remembered all 10 of our names. The food was great too!

Hadn’t visited here before. We had 3 dogs so the outside terrace was perfect. Food was lovely, very tasty. Had an enjoyable time all round!

Perfect restaurant to spend an afternoon with friends food tasty, hot and well cooked. I had Chicken Piri Piri Espertada a chicken skewer served with chunky fries which arrives with the skewer hanging over the pot of fries, a bit of a show stopper if you hadn't been to GOGOs before, chicken cooked perfectly with just the right mount of spice. Friends went for half a rack of ribs which they couldn't fault. Great restaurant and staff.

Visited here for a lunch, a lovely spot with adequate parking & a short walk to the restaurant, service was good and staff were polite and attentive. Food was great a nice spot to come for lunch, you are able to over look the marina & part of the Windsor race course. I’d highly recommend a visit here!

We had delicious lunch at this pictoresque restaurant. Inventive food menu. Extensive drinks menu. Attentive friendly staff. It’s also dog friendly. We much enjoyed our visit and will be back.

I don’t normally write bad reviews but I couldn’t give no stars for this. The service was so bad I’ve never experienced something like that before. The food was terrible - how can you go wrong with a burger… also to mention the manager came and spoke to us and said that the staff were bad too which was so unprofessional. Not going again which is a shame as it’s a lovely location.

The ambience at GoGos is really lovely. However, the service is very poor. Untrained staff, food cold on arrival, drinks arrived after the meal - I could go on. Because they have a great location, it has become a bit of an Instagram location so it has become filled with those who spend a lot of time taking pics. Menu needs a refresh too - same as it was years ago. Staff need training and they need more staff - poor inexperienced waiters run off their feet not quite keeping up

Gogos is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is good, cocktails, awesome and location one of the best in Windsor. However, there have been periods in the past where service was a little hit and miss. Last night the service from our waiter was great, but let down by the managers decision to close one of the outdoor areas, despite the other outdoor area being shut. Inside the restaurant felt like the fires of hell as only very small windows open and there’s no aircon or fans. We were eventually moved outside to a bar with bench which is probably the most uncomfortable seat I’ve ever sat on 🙈…. There’s an easy solution to all of the above, disappointing that nothing was in place.

The food and drinks were incredible, however, the service was really slow. We still had our starters sat in front of us when our mains arrived and the same with pudding. No one checked in to see how meals were and no offer for more drinks. The setting was beautiful apart from the thousands of spiders that were hanging around in the outside area and crawling down to the table. Reasonably priced just let down with service.

Beautiful atmosphere and location. Food average and quite pricey. Had to wait a while for drinks...20 minutes for our beer! My lamb was a little bland. Waitress didn't recommend any sauces until I asked. We got 1 little pot between 4 of us. Webs in the tent need removing...lots of spiders! Not good if you have spider phobia! As it was such a hot day I would have expected water jug on the table as we sat down. Did contemplate about paying service charge but paid it in the end as staff were friendly and courteous. Would I go back? Maybe, but wouldn't be my first choice.

Very enjoyable experience. The food and service was very good. Roberto oor waiter was very attentive and had a lovely personality. My friends and I all enjoyed our lunch and would definitely go again.

We waited over 30 minutes for drinks that we ordered. We then ordered starters and mains together, starters came out quickly, mains we waited for over 25 minutes after they cleared the plates. They never removed used glasses that were on the table and also never received a glass for bottled water. Food was really good, but my steak was extremely chewy although cooked medium.

Food and service very good - nothing too much trouble and sat outside with a view of the marina .

Gogós is in a lovely setting, particularly nice when the weather is warm & the sun is shining. We went late afternoon on a Sunday, no tables outside, so very warm inside. But we still had a nice time. It’s a bit on the expensive side, although burgers are great value. an Al a carte menu might be more a good offering for Sundays.

10 out of 10 for the food, but the service was bad, the waiter was not very attentive, even though he wasn't busy. 😔

My other half and I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Lilly, as she went out and beyond her way to make our day a pleasurable one, even when faces with the numerous challenges she faced with other party next to us, and rudely interrupting her whilst taking our order. Aside from the above, this being my 3rd time at this establishment, I will say that on this occasion, this has been the best, which is and was all down to Lilly🤗

A change of team seems to have got this restaurant back on track, service not speedy but friendly and food was lovely. Only one observation the acoustics are odd and seven off us had to raise our voices to be heard

lovely location but AWFUL service. When we arrived we were seated on a lovely table- we were then asked to move to one behind us which had 2 kids sat at. The waiter moved the kids so we could sit down. bear in mind, the table we originally sat on was left empty all evening, very strange! We continuously had to get up from our table and find staff for cutlery, sauces and drinks etc that we repeatedly ordered yet weren't given. When finally being served our drinks, the tray was dumped on the table and the waiter said "I don't know who's drink is who's" in an abrupt tone instead of asking. Finally, when our food came, 1 steak was rare when asked for medium and the other was well done when asked for medium. Also, 2 of us ordered ribs which came out stone cold. The ribs were replaced and came back hot and were nice in the end! We then were neglected again with our plates left under us for 45 minutes after finishing eating. We had asked for the bill and waited a further 20 minutes before paying. It's such a shame as the location is lovely and when right, the food is nice! The service just completely ruined it for us! Especially as its above average price in the area for food.

What a lovely night out. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. It’s the First time I have order something with no regrets. The Staff were amazing. I have already told the world about Gogos. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch with friends, we all enjoyed our time there. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was good and cocktails delicious. Nice to sit by the river and enjoy the view.

Unfortunately the service and food was not great for us at breakfast, the coffee was terrible. We ordered an americano and it was undrinkable, we did advise the waiter and we got another one however no change. It was not a great experience and we normally have great breakfasts here. Not sure if you were training new staff etc .

Absolute Oasis, peaceful, quiet and great food. Friendly, helpful staff and very well priced.

Staff are amazing, they are very inclusive making us feel welcome. We’ve been coming here for many years and the food is great along with a lovely location.

Fillet steak excellent and friendly service with great view

Having requested a table indoors the unexpected good weather warranted sitting outside under cover. The request was fulfilled without issue and a further move to a cooler corner happened without fuss. We were given plenty of time to chat before ordering. The food was tasty and well proportioned and was supported by a good drinks selection. Thanks for a great afternoon.

I’ve booked a table for my husband’s birthday! The ambiance and the view did not disappoint. However , the special request I made ‘birthday dessert’ for him was not serve at the time I was expecting; the excuse they have is they did not read the request which I think is not acceptable. It’s a special occasion and it would have been the highlight for his day. Food - for the price; I rate is as average.

Very blowy in marquee and sides not held done so did little to limit the wind and a lot to annoy the table. Food was great and service good. Be careful with leaving items in cars mine got broken into whilst dining not the restaurant fault at all but don’t leave any valuables in cars!!

A perfect evening! Staff efficient and friendly. Food was great with care taken for a specific ingredient not to be used. I gave 4 stars for value only for the wine cost-could be slightly less. 3 extremely happy customers-will return for my birthday.

The restaurant is situated on a raised platform that enables a good view of the marina . We found the meal very appetising and would definitely return . However the bill was just under 100 pounds for 1 starter 4 drinks 2 mains . 2 coffees

Food came out slow and cold. Had to send back to reheat. Staff friendly and courteous. Just one who was throwing cutlery at us instead of placing.

Nice location, the service was very poor , a server bought to lots of food and said don’t know who these are for and just put them on the table ! Not impressed. Waited 15 mos after arrival to get asked if we wanted a drink. Food was average for the prices they are charging, hanging kebabs and a small bowl of chips or salad between 23-28 pound , yes very nice but need to offer more on the plate. My wife had the vegetarian curry, very bland and watery again for the money charged should be a fresh varied tasteful curry. Very limited for vegetarian on the menu. Puddings again nothing worth getting excited about and items not available so limited choice, and then to be given a bill of £197.00 with 7 drinks and one being a coke , won’t be rushing back .

First of all the outside table I booked had been changed to inside. We eventually got moved outside. Service was really slow. Food took ages to come. We didn’t leave our table until after 12.30pm. We came for breakfast at 10.15am Waiter service was good though. Bit dissapointing as a first visit to the restaurant. Kind regards Kim

As always the food, location and ambience were wonderful. Today I could add service to the list of positives; Lauren was delightful and attentive. This was a treat for my Mum and she also liked it a lot.

We had a lovely dinner last night in the outdoor tent, the weather was great, the food was yummy and the service was amazing too. We were served mainly but a very smiley brown haired girl who’s name I didn’t catch but she was wearing black adidas superstars! Really recommend GOGOs and have already recommended to other family members :)

Food was lovely. All of the 5 main dishes were good. Service was friendly and helpful. The food took ages to arrive, despite the restaurant not being overly busy- there was a number of empty tables. We were happy to wait, so it didn’t matter to us, but it would have been frustrating if we’d had younger children with us, or had arrived hungry! It took 40 minutes between ordering and receiving our food.

Orders were missed off or incorrectly processed but generally the service was good and the ambience was nice.

Located on the waterfront, one can enjoy the boats passing by and an occasional horse rider on the other bank of river. Food is excellent, especially the Peri chicken espetada and yummy Malva Pudding. Service is friendly and non intrusive. I loved the Veld Fire cocktail.

Gogo’s is a lovely place, I have been there numerous times without a bad word to say. Everything is normally 5* however yesterday the service severely lacked. We struggled to get served the whole time we had our lunch which was a shame and killed our mood after a lovely morning. It won’t stop me from going back however it ended a very special day for us early due to the mood kill from the lack of service. Food was still very tasty and would still highly recommend

Great service and food at Gogos. Took a friend for birthday lunch, the team were excellent. Very friendly, helpful and professional on what was a very busy day. Great selection of food all excellent we had the seabass, steak, fish burger and chicken skewers and no one was left hungry. We even pushed ourselves for dessert. The Mulva pudding was fantastic! We really appreciated the free drinks due to the delay in the kitchen, a great touch.

The constant banging of the main door going in and out of the restaurant and we were sitting right next to it, so it sounded awful!!! The service was slow, waited quite a long time for main. The food was nice 😊

Our first visit to GOGOS and we were NOT disappointed. The location is lovely, the service was friendly and the food was amazing. Between us we had a number of dishes which were fabulous, all of the family said this is now a favourite. It’s pet friendly so our dog came with us, a lovely touch on a family day out. They gave us some dog treats. Highly recommended!!

Very special place overlooking the marina. Loved it!

The food was good, not great but good. What really prompted me to write a review is the poor service and lack of attention. I took my partner to Gogo's to celebrate her 50th, I wrote this on the booking. To start, we waited for more than 5 minutes to be welcomed before being seated (it was not a busy night), the first thing that we were told is we can light the candles on the cake we brought, but cant eat it on the premises. We accepted this, although disappointed, but felt a bit put out. Then when it came time order, they had run out of some cuts of meat, another disappointed. We waited quite a while to have water delivered, and I had to call out to a staff member to look our way and endured a longer wait to have it refilled, the staff were eager to get the whole order in, starters, mains and dessert. it felt like we were at a entry level restaurant... turn the table as fast as possible! Anyway, it's a lovely venue, but I do think that Gogo's can try live up to their good reviews and not rest on their laurels

Very slow service - (few kitchen staff)? I had read about this in reviews but hoped it would have been sorted after several years. Only a few actual South African dishes, unfortunately. Nice setting, near the river front.

Unfortunately service was poor probably due to low staff levels. Our food was very average and unfortunately any requests we made took a long time to arrive. Some diners in our group were unwell within 12 hours of dining. Although a great location, and we live locally, it’s unlikely that we will go back with so many other good eateries in the area where both service and food very good. The only thing that arrived when we asked for it was the bill!

all staff were polite and courteous. My issue was , there was a delay in the kitchen of which we was not informed until i decided to ask which was 45 mins after placing our dinner order, we were not offered a fresh drink so we were sat with our empty glasses. If we were informed of the delay and at that moment empty glasses taken away and then we could of ordered fresh drinks it would not of been an issue. But to be clear polite staff and food was decent but i spent £111 and waited 45 mins for my dinner while only being offered a drink once.

A fabulous setting with a beautiful menu and friendly staff.

Nice food. Tasty starters and puddings. Meat was slightly overdone. Chips were great though. Downside was service. Saturday night but still very slow. Waited ages for second round of drinks to be taken…and food slow. Was brought out a flat champagne (which was replaced on request thankfully) but shouldn’t have been served. Obviously a scenic venue and that didn’t disappoint.

This is a 2nd visit and the location is exquisite. Sun was shining and our table booked 2 weeks ahead for my sons 18th birthday. 8 guests. The staff were way too overwhelmed with a large party they had indoors. We were neglected from the time of arrival, to ordering first drinks, having to ask for menus, begging for someone to take the order and then chasing 3 different people for the bill. It could have been better managed in order to make us feel welcome and valued.
