Stopped in to have lunch on a recommendation from a friend and it was excellent. Quality Mediterranean food that was fresh and delicious. We ate artichokes, cured pollock with tomato and chilli and shared a pork focaccia sandwich. Every dish was stand out and delicious, the star of the show for us were the artichokes. Service was friendly, attentive and relaxed. All in all a great find. We will be back when we are next in the neighbourhood

Much of the food was delicious - especially the sweet menu. However, at the price I do not expect bones in the mackerel and red snapper. Also the herb salad was overpowered by dill. Much to admire but the detail is lacking to make it really good - a shame.

A modern semi industrial ambience with a feeling of vibrant space. A kitchen that is in top form. Imaginative presentations of classic ingredients eg sea trout, chicken liver, artichoke. Focaccia that is a masterclass of how it should be made. A lovely menu that makes it difficult to chose. An eclectic wine list, reasonably priced. Try the white Scillian. A successor of sorts to the much loved, much missed Alcemilla. Same head chef and a new restaurant that shows what made Alcemilla amazing but with wonderfully new.

We have been many times to Gloriosa and always really enjoyed the food and general atmosphere. We have come with friends or just ourselves and like the mediterranean sharing plates. When we went most recently we got seated beside the front door which kept hitting us with wind and banging. The service was bad - while the small plates came fairly fast, we waited ages for the bigger plates (with no drinks as another wasn’t offered). We noticed that after the table next to us paid, the girl was waiting for her friend to use the bathroom to leave and she got told she had to move and couldn’t sit to wait, so she had to stand awkwardly between tables. The food was good but not as amazing as usual. The focaccia is amazing and I liked the eggs and panna cotta. But the clams were full of sand, the cavolo so salty it was inedible so that dish was way too expensive for what it was. The artichokes were ok but not incredible. I hope it was just a one-off but we were disappointed overall. We will definitely try again.

In Glasgow for a conference and Jay Rayner convinced us to book here. The focaccia was indeed excellent, as were the starters (I had anchovy / chilli). My mackerel main was humungous - the entire fish perched on a bed of tomatoes, mash, and paprika. Probably the biggest main course I've been served for years - indeed, I just couldn't finish it. Tasted great - very Spanish and authentic. My wife's mussel + spaghetti was fine also. Rhubarb and almond clafoutis to finish. I could barely walk. Only negative was an apparently dumb wine waiter who neither spoke nor offered a taste before pouring; other service was charming. We got out for £60 each inc. service which is hardly cheap but hardly expensive either, given the very solid cooking skills on show. Well worth a visit - the is unpretentious, well cooked Mediterranean food and definitely a step above the chain alternatives.

Worst restaurant experience ever. Table of 6 for a birthday meal. Booked in advance. Shown to our table then basically ignored. Waited for 30 minutes without being asked for a drink. Had to leave the table and go up to the two waiting staff who were standing at the bar chatting and asked to order some drinks. At about 40 minutes after arrival, the waitress approached the table and took our drink order. Upon asking what a certain element of one of the cocktails was, the waitress brought over the bottle and asked if we wanted to sniff it. I'm not joking. Once we had our drinks we had to ask to have the menu explained a little and how many dishes they recommended we share. It was pretty painful and I think more staff training is needed. We sat for a few more minutes and decided to pay for the drinks and leave this awkward experience. We all felt like we gatecrashed someone else's party and trying to get some basic hospitality was a struggle. Won't be back. I'd say avoid all together if the service is anything like what we experienced.

The food is relatively interesting. However, everything was overly salted. The vegan pasta was also massively over cooked. The service, and the idea to serve food as it’s ready just doesn’t work here. We were served one plate of food, and then nothing for twenty minutes. As we had one vegan with us, they say hungry for all this time. Though, we all did as no cutlery arrived for at least five minutes after this first ‘course’. There was no explanation of the dishes. Drinks took an age to arrive and were never republished/asked if we wanted more. When we queried why everything was taking so long we were abruptly told “this is how we do things here”. Everything felt a chore for the staff, who were more interested in chatting at the bar than serving customers. This was a birthday meal, and we left after 90 minutes having eaten a few plates and had two glasses of wine. We didn’t dare try and order dessert as can’t imagine it would arrive that day. And saying we were never offered a dessert menu, I doubt the staff wanted us there. No idea how this place is getting good reviews. The food could be great, if they laid off the salt. However front of house is absolutely woeful. Take a jumper, as it was freezing as wells Oh, and the toilets are pretty ropey and unclean. Avoid.

Disappointing, overpriced and not delivering on quality and taste. Ordered the one scallop starter, was one scallop quite normal, but one very pricey scallop. Sardines were nice, focaccia delicious. Then the four mains, two tiny pasta dishes at 16 quid a pop, unremarkable flavours and pasta. The 22 pound quail must be worth it, nope, on a bed of puy bland lentils. Ordered the 38 pound vino, must google the mark up as a very cheap Italian red, lacking in flavour and dry. Decided no pudding and no cocktails as didn’t really want to waste more money, the bill arrived £166, got home hungry and unsatisfied. On a plus not the waiter was lovely. I think this place is the like “the kings new clothes”

Oh dear, oh dear. High expectations. But the food was just okay, nothing more in my opinion than okay. But not at okay prices. Such a disappointment. £28 for an ordinary piece of cod, a few mussels and a thin sauce with not much flavour of crab. No sign of the promised 'herbs salad' but a distressed piece of (I think) artichoke appeared. The bread looked to have been left in the oven too long and the olive oil was just ok. We ate all the bread because the plate sizes are not generous here. Anchovies with orange peel? Everything, alas, overpowered by the orange. The mackerel was baby sized in my book. Could puddings bring joy in advance of the impending hefty bill? No, they were just okay. On the plus side, good service, lovely restaurant and relaxed atmosphere. But the food was.... just okay.

I enjoyed the vibe , yes it’s an old building with big old glass windows so it’s cold here in December the windows get wet on the inside but it has charm they’ve made it nice inside . Service was very good . Food , well my starter was really tasty Jerusalem artichoke salad with shallots I give it four stars. The wine was nice Bordeaux Red pricey at 9.60 for a wee glass I reckon they were getting six glasses out of a bottle but hey it’s par for the course these days all restaurants rip off their customers with the price of wine it’s not unusual for them to charge £30 for a bottle of wine you can get in a supermarket for £6 , this Bordeaux was in that vein probably £12 or £14 a bottle max. My main meal lemon sole , cooked well enough skin on a fish about eight inches long , nice , but t was swimming in a sauce that had too much butter which spoiled it , the dish at £39 comes with a separate wee dish of chips skins on and a small dish of gravy , the chips were cooked in oil that wasn’t hot enough so soaked up too much oil and too many of the chips were hollow, the gravy ? so so , odd accompaniment , the fish probably cost about £7 so charging £39 for it and half a spud another rip off. The sweet was tasty meringue with a chestnut filling. My wife had pasta and tomato sauce and a plate of soup served with no bread. Total £139 , what I think it was worth ? £90 max I could have made this myself nothing complex in it and the ingredients including the wine would have cost less than £50 .

Having read rave reviews and intending to book for some time, we secured a table on Sunday evening. Where do I start ???? The restaurant was freezing cold, so cold that I kept my winter coat on whilst dining. We ordered the much recommended focaccia which was also cold. I assume we must have been unlucky as the newspaper restaurant critics both had warm bread. We followed this with an onion tart which was lukewarm, nice enough pastry but £12 for a sliver of M&S quiche was not what we were expecting. We then had the Puntarelle alla Romana, this was fine. We finished by sharing the Pappardelle Ragu which was also lukewarm ! Time for the bill and a hot seat in the car ! The total experience which came to over £70 was totally underwhelming and over in 45 minutes. We didn't realise it was a Fast Food Restaurant ! Still, we have been, but we wont return !

Was looking forward to this so very disappointed.. The food was very tasty (though some dishes quite salty, especially the Jerusalem artichokes), but there was a distinct lack of meat options (unless you want to pay £75 for some steak!). Focaccia was fantastic. They’d run out of some of their (already limited) options. It was a lot to charge for vegetables (albeit imaginatively cooked). As others have commented, the service is extremely poor, and this was what really let the place down. We felt completely ignored, it took a long time to flag someone down to take our order, and then even longer for food to appear (and longer yet for our drinks, which were forgotten, with limited apology!!). Dirty plates left on the table, no check on how things were, etc etc. They weren’t that busy - the waiting staff were just too busy chatting amongst themselves, and it felt like they were doing you a favour. To then stick 10% service charge on the bill was rather insulting. It was not deserved (unless it goes to the kitchen staff!). #tldr we won’t be returning.

Everything we ate and drank was delicious. We arrived 15 minutes early but our table was ready. We ordered cocktails and were invited to order food at the same time. We asked for time to drink our cocktails first, and the server said our time at the table was limited. We pointed out that we had arrived early... it seemed a bit unreasonable to be rushed like that at the start (and also proved unnecessary, because by the time we left the restaurant was half-empty with plenty of vacant tables). The music was delightfully quiet, and the cocktails were delicious, albeit rather small. Fifteen quid for a globe artichoke with a bit of sauce seemed very steep, though again it was delicious. They had no gluten-free bread or pasta which was a real shame. I would have loved to try the pasta dish with clams. There is a Tesco Express opposite which would sell them some perfectly edible gluten-free pasta if they didn't want to make their own, though that is not difficult to do. And OK I can get that they might not want to aim at gluten-free foccacia, but I would have been grateful for some GF flatbreads which are very easy to make, or even a couple of bits of sliced Scharr bread from the freezer. But the food I could eat was truly excellent, and the drinks were very good too.

The soup which seemed improbable as porcini and fennel was a devine texture and delicious. The roasted butternut squash tasted and looked like orange segments served with chunky spinach was mind boggling good. Brandane proved to be not fried fish and mashed potatoes. Served with boiled eggs and olives. We shared a portion of pumpkin fritters. We had plate envy Do book ahead. Do allow plenty of time for the various plates and digestion. All in all very civilised. 4 plates between 2 was an outstanding lunch at £40. As we we’re leaving we got plate envy. The focaccia looked amazing. If only we had space. NB there were 6 vegan options! No one explained the menu to us (most small plates restaurants ask if you've been before and, if not, give you a guideline on the number of plates to order for your table size), no one checked in on us during the meal or offered a dessert menu at the end, and when we ordered wine the waiter just put it on the table and walked away without offering to pour us each a glass - The pasta was quite thick and undercooked Overall, the food was really good but for the price, I would expect better service.

Gloriosa is a glorious restaurant ;) Basically, the interior design is great except for the acoustic. This is unfortunately not a great place for acoustically sensitive people - investing in sound absorbing system would really be a big plus. The food is well thought through but even all the five vegan main version combined don’t feel enough for a filling dinner. The staff is wonderful! I‘m looking forward to coming back, next time again for lunch when it’s more quiet. Thank you

Wonderful food, helpful and pleasant service but undeservedly quiet. Not cheap but quite extraordinarily good!

This place is in a great location, I sat by the window, the Art Galleries in the distance and watched all the regular stuff going on. Firstly, it’s a bonus to get a decent wine, totally stunning……the food is different, quite edgy without being too swanky. And the staff were absolutely delightful. I will of course be visiting again. Enjoy.

Was a good experience, lots of different sharing platters which we all enjoyed. The raw courgette salad was particularly nice.

We were in Glasgow on Wednesday night looking for somewhere to eat, and messaged a friend who used to live here. They recommended Glorios, and it was perfect. Good service and very good pasta dishes.

Excellent cuisine. I really appreciated the way we were encouraged to share several dishes. Lovely staff. We felt welcome and looked after but not in an intrusive way. I'll be back. First class.

I adore this restaurant and I always come to eat here when I’m in Glasgow. The taste and the freshness of the food is next level 🤍

Food was fine, staff were friendly. Be warned, portions are small and the suggested number of dishes about 60% adequate

Very overpriced for what it is. Somehow 7 pound got added as 'optional service charge', well above 10 percent. Foos sounds inspired but is quite carelessly put together. Small portions for the price. Limited range of choices. Service was punctual but notably unfriendly.

Read reviews to find dinner options. We are foodies and have eaten at very good places all over the world. Gloriosa is overrated without any doubt. The olives were salty, and could be from a can, the lamb was just not good. We would certainly never go back to this restaurant. If you have a few nights in Glasgow, make another choice.

We came here after reading good google reviews. We were very dissappointed. We began with olives. They were uninspiring. Next we had a salad with radish, courgette and greens. The dressing was very salty. Finally we had lamb chops with some greens. The lamb tasted...

I had the best food experience here since months. The courses were thoughtfully prepared and tasted just amazing. The menu offers meals you barely see in other restaurants which makes it even more interesting. Definitely pay it a visit. It’s worth it.

Slow service, aloof staff, food poisoning. Really disappointing experience at Gloriosa on a Saturday night. All started well as we were quickly seated and had drinks and food orders taken. Our party of 4 ordered some bread and oil, an artichoke to share and a plate of pasta each - 3 of these were the same pork ragu with nettle paccheri - and two bottles of wine. The bread arrived, followed by the artichoke and one of the pork ragus. About 20/25 minutes passed before the staff returned with the intention of clearing our plates when we pointed out that only one of our pasta dishes has arrived and we were still waiting on a further 3 meals. We were then told that 'these are more sharing-style plates' which was obviously untrue and incredibly patronising. Having ordered 2 different kinds of pasta across 4 plates, it was obvious they had just forgotten to put through some of the order (how they managed to get part of it correct I'm not sure...). A staff member who i presume was the manager then came over and asked us what we were still waiting on (no apology). They clearly then rushed the cooking of the remaining 3 dishes, which arrived fairly quickly. However, within a few hours one of our party was ill with food poisoning - clearly coming from the rushed cooking of the pork ragu. Really disappointing experience at a restaurant that has excellent reviews. The inclusion of a 'voluntary service charge' within the price on the bill (so you'd have to cause a bit of a scene by subtracting money yourself from the bill that you've been given) kind of sums the place up. £35 a head to be forgotten, then patronised, then sick was a pretty poor return for the night!

Everything was SO very fresh. The flavors were perfectly balanced. Each plate was different, the flavors didn’t bleed together into one note at all. Loved it. Wait staff was lovely as well.

I have been excited to visit Gloriosa for a long time and I am afraid I was quite dissappointed. We started off with foccaccia and it was very fluffy and delicious. It also came with a good portion however I expected a little bit more than just very salty olive oil to go with it. It is common to have a good dip with some herbs and spices. We had their asparagus dish which was great with a citrus sauce, soft boiled eggs and a delicious creamy side with it. Their mussles toast were good as well. We have tried their pork ragu, it was delicious. We have also ordered their tonnarelli pasta which was way too salty. Both pastas were too al dante for my liking. Desserts were a huge dissapointment. I have never had a worse creme caramel in my life and it is one of my favorite desserts. Caramel was too bitter at a stage that it did not taste good anymore. You could not enjoy the creme caramel itself as it was so bland. We were confused as to where all the sugar went. The raspberry dessert was just alright. On top of that they have this cheeky "optional" service fee. If they want to make it optional, they should let people tip however much they want rather than putting it on the bill. Overall, although food was alright, the price performance balance was totally off. It unfortunately did not meet my expectations. Atmosphere is not so nice either. I have been to better restaurants with better service, better food and better ambiance for cheaper price. Gloriosa is not worth it.
