Were visiting Rye after spending a couple of days in Hastings. Found Globe Inn Marsh when searching for gluten free menus. Really varied menu and the food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was really knowledgeable about gluten free options and was very friendly. The decor was really quirky and it was really relaxing inside. It is clearly a very popular restaurant, such a shame we live so far away!

We visited this pub twice during a stay in Rye. It has a really good vibe - warm and friendly. They have interesting décor with a mermaid figurehead and hanging fishing baskets. Prices are reasonable and the staff go over and above to help customers. We arrived cold and wet after the restaurant had closed and they still made me a lovely hot chocolate! On another visit a guy with a child called in quite late looking for dessert and they offered to come up with something for him even though the kitchen staff had all gone home.

Terrible booking system, phoned on Wednesday to book a table for 10 . To be told I have to book a table of that size via email which I did. Phoned back to make sure they’ve received the email to which I was told they had . Hadn’t heard anything back from them so phoned them back on Saturday ( the day before the table of 10 was booked ) to be told they don’t have space for us , a little heads up wouldn’t have been nice .

Popped in early evening to find a great selection of beer and cider. We both had pan-fried sea bass - simple, fresh and perfectly cooked with crispy skin and soft white flesh. French beans were only just cooked, but that is how we like them. Eton mess dessert was ok. The service was excellent.

I suggest you book in good time to avoid disappointment as this place can get very busy because: The staff are very friendly and helpful, the beer and wine is excellent and the food is great and the decor provides lots of interest.... 'Twas a warm summer evening when we went for dinner and had the gambas and squid to share as starters, followed by sea bass washed down with some L'Olibet Rose which was chilled and refreshing. Did I mention the staff? They were temporarily short-staffed that evening and still pulled off an excellent service! Highly Recommended.

Absolutely loved this place - quite possibly the most interesting pub we've ever been in. For us, locally sourced food/drink is always a real bonus and the service was superb. I could have wandered round the pub for ages, just soaking up all the really interesting and very unusual artefacts and decor. I have multiple food allergies and the staff could not have gone to more trouble to make sure I not only had something delicious to eat, but that I knew it was completely safe as well. Also, so often, we get to the pudding menu and there is nothing I can eat, but they went to the utmost trouble to ensure there was something I could safely have. My husband said it would even be worth driving for 2.5 hours to come back for a meal here, it was that good!!

Staying for a couple of days in Rye with friends and found this place by chance. On the edge of town and seems to be mainly frequented by locals as I'm guessing visitors don't usually pass by. Not close to other attractions. I've never drunk anywhere quite like it before. An eclectic mixture of items around and a great atmosphere. The food was all home made and very good. Next time we are in Rye we will definitely be back.

What a great place. So individual. We booked on a Sunday as there were 7 of us with a baby & a large dog. Whilst it was a little “tight”, we were made to feel so very welcome. Staff were all extremely friendly & professional; the beer fabulous & the food excellent. We all enjoyed the food, especially the sharing roast chicken served with all the trimmings in a roasting dish. Can’t wait to come back.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here after a walk on our favourite beach at Winchelsea. The service was excellent and the puddings were particularly delicious. The treacle tart and huge cauldron of crumble (last time I was here the crumble was a sad, deconstructed thing, but they’ve changed their recipe) were a perfect end to a great meal.

We were staying nearby and I found this place by googling. It was super friendly and cosy, dogs welcome and the menu was varied. Service was good, wine a little pricey. Only gripe was bread and butter with the scallop starter would have been good. Also no tartare sauce though fish was on the menu. Will definitely be back though. Had a lovely time.

I’ve been to The Globe on The Marsh many times and enjoyed many lovely times there BUT today when l stopped by and got a drink with my dog, sitting close by the fire in a relatively empty bar for a quick warm up. I was close to finishing the drink when a rude member of bar staff “Kasha” who had actually sold me the drink, asked me to vacate as the table was reserved!! 2 females with a dog had just walked in prior, so I asked them if they had made the reservation… no. Quite incensed on leaving I asked if it was a public bar and if the table was reserved, why wasn’t I made aware of the fact prior…? I had felt a hostility from Kasha on walking into the bar for whatever reason but this situation was handled atrociously, leaving me feeling negative. So on this occasion I will leave a negative review.

6 of us stopped for a fish and chip lunch, costing £111, we should have kept walking. £15.95 for a box of poorly cooked fish and chips, £2 for a tiny pot of mushy peas and 50p for a sachet of ketchup. The food was greasy, the fish had not been prepared properly, nobody finished their meal. The food took 15 minutes to arrive, so we had the opportunity to sit around and soak up the ambience, in a rubbish strewn picnic area whilst Katy Perry blasted out at full volume. On a more positive note, the customer service was at least in keeping with the food and surroundings. The staff were rude, when we picked up 2 of our boxes from the counter, we were told to “wait until we I’ve finished putting them all out”. I would eat literally anywhere before I went here again.
