Lovely coffee and very pleasant staff. Our Carrot Cake tasted as if it had been left out all day not very nice. Could not really complain as paid for at time of ordering

What a wonderful cafe. We were 4 couples out fur the day. First a young man juggled and moved tables to get us well seated. We were then served by Mya who could not have been more pleasant and helpful. She served us with a smile and checked with the kitchen when asked questions she could not answer. The food was pretty good too!!! Altogether a great experience.

This cafe has greatly improved since reopening after Covid pandemic it was a shambles at first ordering food from a bar code that didn’t connect to your phone. Staff didn’t have a clue and the food was very basic. Decided to give it another try…. Now it is well run with a new ordering system and new menu. Food is good with a nice choice from just cake & coffee to Fish & chips. Biggest improvement is the lovely team from a very warm welcome from Leone to a prompt order from Lewis. All interactions with the team have been extremely friendly, well done to the management team for excellent staff training.

I ordered the salmon and spinach tart from the menu which said it came with salad and I also ordered a side order of fries. What arrived was very different to the menu, not a tart but two very small sized over baked tartlets with a minuscule sized salad comprising some sliced pepper, cucumber and I think beetroot. The portion of the salad was so small that it would have sat comfortably on a dessert spoon… Most of the tartlets remained on my plate as they were inedible due to being over baked. Very disappointing I would not recommend eating here.

Headed to the cafe on arrival at the garden centre for lunch. Fish and chips with peas x 2 at £14.95 a head was expensive for what was served. Chips were nice however were lacking in quantity and were mixed in with the peas, looked like everything had been thrown onto the plate. Batter on the fish was tasty albeit a bit oily but where was the fish ?? All batter no fish, wouldn’t say what was there was fresh, probably frozen. Ordered cake and coffee. Lattes were good, raspberry cranachan cake was not fresh, even though server stated otherwise. It was dry and crumbly and the cream was synthetic, super sweet with a gritty texture. Overall this place is overpriced and specialises in poor quality food. Advice - go elsewhere!

Been stopping off on route to Aberdeen for many years. Unless this cafe improves we'll be driving past. Prices are shocking for what you get. Salty cold soup which I had to return and lemon cake that was stale. This cafe has gone downhill in so many ways. 2 slices of cake and two coffees nearly £16. Used to always be a pleasure stopping for lunch sadly, it is no longer.

My family and I visited the garden centre and cafe for the very first time on Friday, and we will definitely be back! The cafe was extremely busy at the time that we visited but we were served very promptly by Chloe, who appeared extremely rushed off her feet but served us with the biggest smile on her face made us feel as though nothing was too much trouble for her. Drinks arrived very quickly, followed by our food. My husband and I both had the fish and chips, which I’m glad we chose as it was delicious! My son had a ham & cheese toastie with a mug of the tomato and red pepper soup, which I have been told was just as delicious. Overall a great first visit!

We arrived for lunch and were dealt with promptly . The staff were very nice but I’m afraid the food was very poor My husband ordered lentil soup which appeared to be powdered or tinned . It looked very unappetising resembling custard My fish was honestly all batter which was greasy and tasted of oil . The fish which was a very small portion was slimy . The worst bit was the peas some of which were not fully defrosted and as a result hard and stone cold . We won’t be back . The staff were nice but this was a pricey and disappointing experience

Arrived to be shown to a table and ordered drinks plus food. Blt panini arrived with mouldy lettuce in it so it was sent back with the promise it would be replaced. By this I thought it would mean a new panini but no some of the lettuce had been removed but not all of it. So I said I would just leave it and sent it back to the kitchen. Mac and cheese was tasteless , obviously frozen in a big batch and then re heated. The chips were nice but that was it. Staff don’t seem overly bothered or understand the issue . We won’t ever return , over priced and poor quality. Plenty of other places that are well above this.

The bacon and lorne sausage were not cooked properly and I asked for my fried egg to be well done but it wasn't it really turned my stomach. I really thought that it would be good but I was very mistaken. I really think the chefs concerned need to go back to basics and learn how to cook a breakfast. We dropped in past Glendoick as we normally do on our way South. The lunch was very disappointing. I had the winter vegetable Broth which was basically Barley Broth, little or no winter vegetables. My wife had what was billed as a Toastie but was actually a toasted sandwich. The definition is a Toastie is very specifically sliced bread filled then heated and sealed between 2 metal surfaces to prevent leaks. What my wife received was defiantly not a Toastie by the definition. The internet also goes on to say what a Toastie fundamentally is NOT a sandwich served on toasted slices of bread. So as the review says very disappointing lunch, the chips were great and the girl who served us was very pleasant and efficient.

The shop itself is fantastic but our lunch, what a disappointment. You wouldn’t think you could go wrong with a baked tattie and coronation chicken. You can! The tattie was ok but the sauce the chicken was is was tasteless and sickening and the side salad, if you can call it a salad, it was more of a garnish, was a slice of dried up cucumber, a few bits of very limp rocket and lettuce and a 1/3 of a tomato, tiny tiny bit of grated carrot. The table outside that we sat at was so wobbly (as we’re the others) that you couldn’t cut your food as your drinks (or soup that once chap had on another table) would spill everywhere. I really think you could do better!!! I think the chefs/management should go and take a look at what Gloagburn are doing, or The Smiddy, The Woodhouse.

We enjoyed two excellent dinners at the Terrace Restaurant. A special mention for our young server Harry who provided excellent and friendly service he was open he was a recent start but his desire to be the best he could be shone through and he had a very positive personality which made the whole experience very enjoyable. Management take note he is a keeper!

Avoid at all costs, I asked for a carrot cake to be heated( I have done this numerous times before) first guy said we can’t (I think he was training- so no problem) other guy said yes let me take it for you. The coffee took 5 to 10 minutes so carrot cake was cold, I asked for a re-heat and was refused after spending £18 plus for 2 coffees and 2 cakes. He said the chef recommended it cold - I can’t eat cold cake as it’s too dry and I have no saliva due to cancer treatment - do I feel like explaining this, no. I was here to collect a winter coat, I treat myself to something every year, never will I frequent House of bruer again, extreme reaction ? - No. I said to coffee guy I’ll speak to manager he replied “good luck then sir” I’m fuming.

I would give two stars for the food and one star for table etiquette. We were unimpressed when we sat down to a table setting of basic low-quality, stamped-out flatware with sharp edges. Three of us ordered meat (duck, pork and beef), the other fish. No alternative, appropriate knives were brought to suit the food, nor was the cutlery replaced after the starter. There were splotches of dried food debris on the underside of all the placemats, which apparently never gets wiped off when they are stacked. The food itself was okay, but portions were on the small side and overpriced for what it was, e.g. two slices of duck breast, 1" slice of sea bass, very little vegetable to accompany. The chicken liver parfait starter was good but came with only three small slices of toasted baguette and bread was £6 extra. There was an abundance of wait staff operating on high-speed settings. We had trouble understanding what kept so many staff on the run (literally) given the restaurant was not full and could have been disruptive were it a romantic dinner for two. We just watched the show. Overall, a four-star restaurant should pay more attention to detail, quality and cleanliness, if it wants to have a four-star reputation.

Last time I was here the fish and chips was really good. Afraid to say this time my wife had the fish and chips and it was cafe standard at best. I had the mac and cheese and I have to say this was the worst mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. Microwaved with what little sauce there was at the bottom of the bowl. The parmesan was probably fresh about a week ago and been sitting out since then. We won’t be bac. Pity as we are local. Staff (waiter, bar staff and receptionist) were pleasant enough though and can’t fault them at all.

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Bein Inn. My partner said his burger was good, his purple coleslaw looked appealing and I have to say his chips (something neither of us is fond of) were probably the best we've had. I ordered a chicken fajita, which was the most unusual I've ever had: *everything*, including the rice (either pilau or basmati, not long grain as I'd expect), wrapped up in one big dod with three sauces on the side. It tasted fine and was filling, but looked tragi-comical. The young waitress warned us they had no avocados, but on questioning thought they may have guacamole; however it was substituted with some kind of chutney, which was ok if unconventional. On the plus side, it all seemed to have actually been cooked rather than banged into a microwave, which we appreciated. The service was good and friendly, and our food arrived in a timely manner, noting that we arrived at the beginning of Friday lunchtime when it was quiet. We're not in a hurry to go back, as the menu was limited and a bit overpriced, at least for my weird offering at £17. There seemed to be some renovation work going on in the entrance area, all good, but didn't add to the ambience. We'd originally looked into this for a Sunday lunch, which seems popular with others, would possibly try it for that in future.
