Stopped here for an AMAZING coffee. The best I've had in a long time!! Unfortunately didn't have any I could buy to take home. We didn't stay at the campsite, though absolutely would another time. Very rural, and beautiful. Great views! Just reviewing the cafe, which was lovely. Very welcoming, few nice treats to chose from.. And a nice little shop with local gifts. Just down the road from Fairy Pools. Believe it opens seasonally. We managed to catch it just before it closes for the winter.

Can't beat the location. It is on the beachfront, at the foot of great volcanic mountains with ridge hikes, short walk to a very beautiful waterfall. Plus some lively rockpools and old ruins. Loved the reception-cafe-restaurant-shop. Cosy and well-stocked. Impressively long open hours - we were there in early Oct and they were open from like 8am to 7pm.

Had the most amazing stay. What a fabulous place. Great set up. Rugged mountains for your backdrop and beach for memorable walks. I think most people would go here to ‘turn off’ which is perfect however if you need a phone signal for kids etc be aware there’s none at this area of the island. When there we had the clearest sky and seen the Milky Way. Happy days. Will be back :)

Simple place with a cafe. Since there were 5 showers each for men and women, it was sufficient and we didn't have to wait. The many drinking water taps on the site were also very practical. We had very little cell phone reception, but messages came through every now and then.

The views are absolutely phenomenal and it’s a very quick drive from the fairy pools. The beach is right there so it’s great for walks or hanging out. The cafe was great, coffee and a selection of baked goods, and the staff was super friendly. The bathroom was definetly the most questionable part. All of the stalls had broken hooks or shelves, there was only one that had all of the hooks working. It was also decently dirty, would recommend wearing flip flops. The water was hot though.

A great remote camping site, 5 minutes from the fairy pools of Skye. We had a hardstanding electric pitch and these are right next to the cafe/reception and more importantly next to the toilet block and amenities, you get what you pay for as it costs £37 a night. Some of the tent pitches were quite far from the toilet block but the toilets and showers were good. No signal or wifi but we loved having 'switch off' time. Fresh pizzas in the evening were yummy. Also has a lovely coffee shop throughout the day which we tried in the morning, we had their coffee, quoissants, blueberry muffins and bacon and cheese turnover... amazing! Staff are lovely and friendly. Our only gripe was in the morning people were parking all around our pitches without a care in the world to get closer to the toilet block, we came back from our morning coffee to find a motorhome using our pitch (as they are spacious pitches) as a parking spot while they used the showers... cheeky! This is my only reason for knocking off a star. A toilet block the other end would be great to stop people ruining it 😅👍🏻

Nice location and lovely site. However, the toilet and shower facilities were not up to standard. They were open to the general public as it was next to a public footpath and not locked to residents only. The toilet block and showers were dirty. Even though it says cleaned and inspected regularly it was definitely not up to the standard I expected and the worst facilities we came across whilst doing the NC 500. Also if you are on the electric hookup field, the toilets are at least a 5 minute treck, so unless you have a cast iron bladder, this is a problem. They need another toilet block at the other end of the site. If the showers and toilets were improved I would give 5 stars

My wife and I recently stayed here after another campsite in Balmacara cancelled our reservation at the last minute because we would be arriving after 7PM. And you know what? I'm glad they did, because this campsite was amazing! The views alone are well worth booking here, but the cafe and fresh baked bread available for purchase every morning really put it over the top. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and were extremely helpful in helping us book an electric pitch on short notice. They were also great about answering any questions we had about hikes and other activities in the area. Highly recommend this campsite.

We were on a campervan tour of the Highlands and my husband wanted to visit the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye. I researched campsites in the area and Glen Brittle campsite came up as an option. I have to say, the site itself was OK, definitely not the best I've stayed in and the shower block was filthy with half the islands midges sharing it with me. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially when our electric cable wouldn't work, the guy came out in the pouring rain and lent us theirs. However, I can't not mention the condition of the road down to the site. We struggled in our sprinter size van to navigate the horrendous pot holes. There's some serious work needed on that road, if you've traveled it, you'll know what I mean. Overall, not worth the nearly £40 a night site free!

Awesome site, with great facilities, and a cafe and shop for everything you forget. The coffee is blended just for cafe and we came away with a bag as it was beautiful. Also do vegan pizza, but get there early as the sell out every day. Other options at the time of visit were, vegan pasty and a spicy bean roll….

Really nice beach but nothing about the campsite justified it's price. The bathrooms/showers were very basic with no extra amenities. The roads on the campsite are absolutely awful and full of holes - it wouldn't take much to fill them with gravel. The check in times are very early. There are no indicators to the space around pitches which meant that in our case, our neighbours pitched up super close to us even though they had more space on the other side. The café is very small and does not stock much variety in food. We tried to get there for 5pm as I had previously read on their website that they would still be serving pizza at that time but when we arrived we found that they changed the time to 4pm - completely rushed our drive for nothing. Doesn't make sense to stop making pizza so early before everyone would have their dinner. They try to do some pastries with a twist (I think there was a curry Cornish pasty or something like that) but it just didn't seem appetising to anyone in our group and would much have preferred classic pastries. We ended up skipping dinner altogether. We would not use this campsite again and we would not recommend it to anyone when there are better and cheaper places around within fairly close range.

Motorhomes >7m or cars with caravans? Stay away! Neither the pothole-ridden access to nor the parking spaces on the site are suitable for such large and long vehicles. You won't have any fun here. Corresponding comments can already be found in other reviews. This place is brilliant for off-grid campers with smaller vehicles or a tent. No cell phone reception, bathing bay and mountains with great hiking opportunities right on your doorstep, friendly, relaxed and nature-loving people - a dream! None of the pitches are so crooked that they can't be leveled with wedges, you always have some water with you anyway and who needs overpriced shore power? Ok, the sanitary area is a bit small and not always clean, but that's the visitors' fault. In any case, I had the impression that the staff checked and cleaned regularly, but they couldn't remove every trace of badly behaved guests. Anyway, I really enjoyed my stay at this place and I would definitely come back here if I were on Skye again. Be sure to try the coffee!

This is the worst site iv been on!! Pot holes are horrendous and cannot be avoided driving to the site office which you have to check in at. Food only served till 4 o'clock which is pathetic shower block was rotten by 9 o'clock in the morning. I asked for a pitch near toilets they couldn't have put me further away at 37 pounds a night the site is shocking and as for the beautiful beach it's all stones.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The location is beautiful, directly at the oceans and the cullins as well. It is a great place to start some hiking tours from and the cafe offers some nice food and coffee. We would just have wished, that there is some sort of campers kitchen. We were there only with a tent and it rained a lot, so cooking a warm meal in the evening was a little tricky. Maybe a possible addition for the future. And also one thing was that the showers were always a little dirty and flooded, especially in the morning. There was no squeegee, maybe that could help the flooding a little. Also be aware that being near to the famous fairy pools also means that the single track road to the campsite is very full and in very bad conditions around the pools as well, and the campsite is also quite remote, so if you drive a lot around Skye it includes a lot of driving. But we enjoyed it overall a lot.

Nice campground at the end of the glen, only the sea and the mountains beside you. That’s the biggest pro but also the biggest con as it’s quite remote if you want to go around the island. But there are plenty of nice hikes and climbs that start straight from the campground. We only missed a “campers kitchen” to cook if the weather is rainy and stormy. Be aware of the insane amount of traffic at the fairy pools between 10am-4pm. The roads til the fairy pools is also in poor condition.

Nice camp. But the road there is borderline for caravans or motorhomes. Single pass road. And all hell breaks loose about the overrated ferry pools. It took over an hour for each trip there because someone got stuck in the mud. Then there's no getting through anymore. Only really passable very early or very late in the evening. Have visited this site every summer for the last 7 years and even spent 4 days of my honeymoon there. I’ve recommended this site to anyone travelling in Skye. I have loved every experience I’ve had at this site regardless of weather, however that is no longer the case. Arrived and the welcoming was cold and they really need to separate the check in and coffee queue and it took around 35 minutes. It’s £12 per adult and £8 per child which is fine if the amenities are good and the place is clean. We were told we could order fresh bread for the morning and I did so assuming that it was freshly baked bread. It was stale, and for £3.50 i had expected better. We had also noticed a very strong smell of marajuana and a group of people gathered in several teepees smoking it - all evening. The toilets and showers are FILTHY and not just sand (because you expect that) I went to bed a little dissapointed but looked forward to that first loaf of fresh bread in the morning. The first morning came around I notified the owner or manager that there was a huge amount of marajuana being consumed on site and she said she would deal with it, I had advised that if it wasn’t dealt with that I couldn’t stay with my children. We came back from our fairy pool walk and were told that it had been dealt with and so I booked a further night and ordered another loaf of bread and a seeded baguette and headed for the showers but they had been locked for cleaning so I waited the 10 minutes outside and headed in - they are locked for an hour and were absolutely disgusting so I don’t know what they are doing in there but it needs addressing. I then sat down around 3pm whilst my children played when an overwhelming stench of marajuana floated over to our patch and I got up once again and went to tell the owner who said it would be dealt with and around an hour later a member of staff headed to their tent and then came over to ours and said “ I’ve told them that if they are going to smoke it then they need to go in the beach” I explained that considering it had been 3 days and they are smoking it continually through the day and there’s lots of them then it’s likely they’ve got a HUGE amount of weed on them and that regardless of personal opinion - it’s ILLEGAL and there’s no way that they didn’t have enough on them to be arrested. They smoked it ALL night and when another group of people arrived that they didn’t know they proceeded to sell it to them. Again nothing done. We then went and collected the bread which took 15 minutes because the girl serving couldn’t keep her eyes open and took around 10 minutes to serve one person who only ordered x2 coffee and croissants. Got back to the pitch and the bread was stale and cold in the centre. The baguette didn’t even last til lunchtime before it sounded like cutting through plastic this was £7 worth of bread. We packed up and left immediately. It’s a shame really because we tour Scotland every summer with our family and next year there would have been 15 of us on the trip.

We are 2 people and are traveling with a 7.50m motorhome. This site is located directly on a bay, very quiet and large mobiles might have a hard time finding a parking space... There are almost no flat sites on this site. Here you stand on sand, grass or gravel, the choice of pitch is up to you if you don't need electricity. The operator is very friendly and stands in the café. The V+E station is fine. The few toilets and showers are clean. There are places with electricity that you should book, the others are easy to get up to 16°°. There is no WiFi and cell phone reception is almost impossible. SAT reception is possible. There is nothing in the surrounding area but nature. You can hike, walk, swim or ride a bike. After 6 km of walking you come to the Feernpools - a sensation! If you're cool, you can also swim here.😉 We really liked it here! We have £26/night without electricity.

Access road to this site is not suitable for motorhomes. On our visit two had gone off road resulting in grid lock on a single carriage road which is full of deep potholes. The place is certainly beautiful but I don't understand the price charged by the campsite or its ranking in the 10 most beautiful campsites in the UK. The paths are muddy because they are full of holes and in Scotland rain is frequent...the toilets are totally undersized and very far from the pitches. The cafe is a good idea but tiny and prohibitively expensive. Stayed 1 night in a campervan, with electric hook up. The road to the campsite is quite poor and can be difficult at busy times as you pass the fairy pools. The campsite itself is in a beautiful location right on the beach with the Cullins in the background. The roads in the campsite are terrible. Large potholes and it's clearly not been maintained (punctures must be common) the toilet and shower facilities are poor and in need of a refresh and a good clean! The hand dryer in the male toilets was out of order, with no alternative. I've seen much better facilities on Skye. The check in experience was ok the cafe was good with fresh pizza on offer. I wouldn't stay again.

We were there with the tents for two nights. If you need electricity, it is advisable to book in advance. However, there is no network in this beautiful, remote place anyway and you can save on phone batteries 😉 There are two working washing machines and two working dryers. There are enough toilets and showers (not just two or no longer just two). The water for flushing the toilet is probably taken from the water in the mountains and looks slightly brownish-yellow when flushed. So do not wonder. The showers can be accessed separately via a door with a pin code so that they are no longer used by everyone who is not at the campsite. The sanitary facilities are cleaned twice a day. Here, too, it is up to the people who previously used the toilet to find it. However, this seems to be a neater place than at some other places. The staff is totally helpful and friendly. The atmosphere relaxed.

This is really a special place and overall I’ve said five stars. Decent facilities and amazing pizzas. Lovely beach, amazing walks, deer wandering about…. So much to love. There are some things which would improve the campsite so much though such as trying to fill in some of the potholes along the shoreline - it’s one bumpy drive in. Also the toilet block is a five minute walk away if you’re on the electric field. When the rain is horizontal it’s a grim walk. We laughed at people driving to the loos but in the end we did too as the kids couldn’t face it. Bring a loo if you’re in a tent :) Hope to return one day

Potholes that you can't avoid!!! In the "reception" "barista" that seems to be the most important thing here, a friendly but hectic reception. The view of the dark beach and the mountains makes up for the "drinking water" that is available everywhere, but is already dripping from the tap at number 14. Our 5l container felt like it took 10 minutes. You also have to want 11 pounds for electricity.

We stayed here for 1 night in May. So pleased we had booked a pitch with electric as those turning up on spec were driving around and around trying to find space to park their campers/pitch their tents. It looked manic! So many people and not nearly enough toilets and showers. Views of mountains and beach were lovely and coffee shop excellent.

Very good campsite. Well enough facilities and helping me to charging device as i don't have car but hitchhiking to here. Location also very good for starting hiking Cuillin. Nice staff and overall cleanliness & tidy arrangement. Cafe also good for rest. Price fair and enjoy to stay here 4nights.

Absolutely rude staff telling us off about arriving late (8:00pm!!). The place that we found at the corner was deemed inappropriate by them, therefore instead of helping us finding a better place, sent us away from the camping.

Such a beautiful campsite. Peaceful, gorgeous great nature views from every angle, friendly and welcoming staff, and the best curried chickpea mango chutney pastie ever!!!! The best part of this campsite is also the gorgeous hike right off of it (Coire Lagan Circular), we spotted 5 deer and breathtaking views. This hike ended up being one of our favourite hikes in Scotland. We will definitely be coming back :)

What a fantastic location under the Cuillin Ridge and by the beach, surely one for the best places to stay in Scotland if not the UK!? Good facilities , plenty of space on the campsite and very friendly and accommodating staff. Definitely check out their cafe, good coffee and delicious pastries

Very nice and lovely Café at one of the most beautiful places in Scottland. They not just offered us very tasty coffee and sweets, they also did everything to help us with our flat tire which was really not easy due to strange highway assistance services. Would give 10 stars, if I could!

Absolutely stunning location and wonderful staff! A pleasure to stay here, in any weather. No WiFi or phone signal so be aware of this before you visit. Also very busy single track road in and out, prepare to pull over to let fairy pools visitors pass. A good hour drive from Portree, Broadford etc so it's pretty much out the way. All worth it if peace and tranquility is what you are after. A real hidden gem of a place.

Nice campsite. Great location by the sea and perfect for hikes. The staff are all very friendly and the café is cute and the selection is large and very tasty! Unfortunately there weren't enough washrooms. Every evening you had to queue to shower. The water in two showers didn't drain and overall the floor in the washroom was always puddled and very sandy. There were also only two sinks for washing without showering. In my opinion, not enough for the size of the campsite. Unfortunately, the washrooms, especially the toilets, could also be used by hikers who were planning day trips in the nearby parking lot. Overall we liked it, but we'll probably try a different place next time.

Stayed here for 2 nights, managed to get my tent up on the beach side it was literally tent city when i was there, it is a big site. This is a great site if your into hill climbing, walking etc, but other than that there isn't anything close by, probably not for kids unless your just going to chill and play in the sea. As mentioned before, there is a very long windy single track road to get to the site and unless you hit it early morning, your fighting with camper vans, cars , vans, people to get up and down the track, there are no shops close by, so take plenty provisions, the onside cafe is great, but basic only soup and a handful of pastries, toilet block is clean and modern, but not enough showers, 4 for the woman. Staff were great and very helpful.

We had a great two night stay at the site. All facilities were clean and a good standard. The staff were super friendly out on the site and in the shop. The coffee was perfect and so were the sweet treats on offer. We turned up and secured a nice spot for the weekend.

Nice location and owners/staff very friendly, cleaning does a great job but.... It is a transit campsite where many people who do not stay at the campsite use all sanitary facilities. There is no WiFi and no 4G and not a single charging point. It might also be useful to check the drinking water quality because the water that is offered as drinking water is very brown.... If you can take a shower immediately after cleaning, that's fine, but at other times it's a mess. Old vans still drive into the campsite very late in the evening and also stay at the campsite. The campsite is freely accessible and there is no supervision whatsoever.

I loved this campsite. No wifi / mobile signal which suited me fine. A short drive to Faery pools. Lots of great walks near the site and the cafe was excellent and well priced.

beautiful campground right on a gorgeous beach. The cafe cashier is also the reception, took me a second to figure that out. Staff are super friendly/helpful. Not a big deal (for me at least) but the only charger ports they have are behind the counter at the cafe, and there is no WiFi and data service (at least my travel data plan from the US) is spotty. Either way the stay was totally worth it. AMAZING place. Highly recommend 10/10

We use Glenbrittle as our camping base every time we visit Skye. Let that speak for itself! Reasonable prices, friendly service, clean facilities, a beautiful beach, plenty of plots, gorgeous scenery... Make sure to order a bread for the morning and try their new pizzas - especially the black pudding one. Doesn't matter when you're reading this, we'll be here again very soon.

Beautiful location, facilities were well kept. Great team, fun people and super helpful - let me borrow a tent when I was without! Not to mention the coffee / baked goods are next level. Thoroughly recommend. I climbed Alasdair and checked out the fairy pools (just a couple of the local sights to see).

Lovely campsite, great location and very much in the wilds. Be aware it is at the end of a long single track road with passing places that is quite busy as there is a major tourist attraction on the same road. The camp is also nowhere near civilisation so make sure you are prepared as you can’t just pop out for some chips. The onsite cafe is great though. There aren’t enough toilets for the size camp and if you are at the far end, plan in advance as it is a bit of a walk. The site is beautifully located and the view is amazing. I did love staying there and would return.

Great campsite and stunning location. £11 for electric hook up was a bit on the steep side in my opinion and given the size of the campsite and capacity it definitely needs more toilets and showers.

Just a totally stunning place. Views are beyond words. Staff amazing couldn't be more helpful. Especially Jeanette, Tara, and Ed. Younger lad also but forgotten his name sorry. At first didn't realise no phone signal or WiFi whatsoever if known I probably wouldn't have stayed. Ended up perfect, so decided to book an extra night thank you to all that made it extra special

What a place! Had the most gorgeous time here, would recommend to anyone wanting to stay on Skye. The campsite is at the end of the road with an amazing beach. The walk round the left side of the bay is absolutely stunning, with little pools to swim in, with the backdrop of beautiful mountains, waterfalls in to the sea 😍 doesn’t get better I thought I had lost my brand new Bluetooth speaker on a late walk back from a fire on the beach, I called to check and they had found it! The man was sooooo sweet and sent it to me in London and refused any postage money. Thank you Glenbrittle for the speaker and the memories!

I love the Lochaber Café. Everyone's so friendly, and the service is really quick. I usually go for the Breakfast Roll, but all the breakfasts are great and served hot, unlike many caffs. Eggs and bacon were served well cooked and to [everyone's different] tastes. Most other dishes I've tried are good too. Coffee's excellent, never bitter so you know it's made properly and the machines are kept clean. Good selection of sweet treats, but I can rarely see past the Raspberry Coconut Cake. In a town where poorer and more expensive eateries come and go at a dismaying rate, the Lochaber Café is a constant and reassuring presence.

Quick and friendly service and the special pasta and meatballs was excellent. It is also dog friendly. Update 12th Nov 2024. Friendly and fast service, dog made very welcome, but a pub with 3 real ale pumps and a BIG sign roadside advertising Real Ale, really should have at least one available, even in low season. The Heineken also tasted strange, but the barman didn't seem interested. Didn't stay for good due to lack of the advertised Real Ales

ordered the hot chocolate chaser and once the initial drizzle of chocolate was gone the hot chocolate itself was pretty awful - tasted a bit like dirty water if i’m honest - had to leave 3/4 of the cup - had a blondie this was tasteless and dry, however the chocolates were nice from the selection we had.

We went to this place yesterday hoping to get the same quality fish and chips as we did before! Unfortunately to ourselves from 0;to 10 it was a 4! The fish was not fresh and it was super oily! I don't know what kind of oil it was but it was not to our pleasure!
