Glasshouse cafe great baddow in Chelmsford

Because of its surrounding glazing, the atmosphere of the Glass House Cafe is inspiring and enhances the much needed social interaction with neighbours. All kinds of ages, and lovely comfort food of jacket potatoes, sandwiches and freshly made salads; generous portions and immediate service by friendly staff. And as you think you are done, you notice the delicious cakes sitting on the counter, and you stay for a quality coffee accompanied by one of them , at least :-). We are going back for sure! Keep up the great work, Maria and team!

Fabulous food! My friend had the vegetarian breakfasts that was far superior than hotel breakfast that we visited on holiday last week! I had a generous sized jacket potato with tasty cheddar and home made coleslaw. We would highly recommend and we will return. This the best place to eat for many miles around!

Went in for brunch the food and service was amazing as usual we had a Meat Stack and Full English Breakfast. Plus a piece of homemade cake for later.

If you haven’t been here then why not! The Gladshouse is a gem of a place, amazing home cooked food, so tasty and great options. Cakes to die for !! Remember to save some room for one or grab a piece to go. Coffee was devine both days we went and we had a 5 week holiday around UK and came here the first day and then back here to have a final One because we hadn’t found a better one the whole trip. Staff are so friendly, Locals are so lucky to have this lovely Cafe. Thank you ☺️

Wow! What a wonderful, slightly hidden gem. So glad I found this café, well it's a little more than just a café, it's a sheer delight. I stopped by for breakfast and being rather hungry I opted for the full English. I was not disappointed. All was cooked to perfection and fresh and exceptionally tasty. OK, there may be some cheaper places to eat but Glasshouse Café Bar in my opinion is quality and very good value for first class food and service.

I needed a quick stop with my laptop to charge and found this lovely little cafe the staff where very helpful and sorted me a table close to a plug the food was amazing I had a club sandwich and a americano I didn’t get her name but the tall lady was very helpful and polite

Lovely quaint coffee house with a lovely selection of homemade treats daily. Wonderful establishment but twice have had terrible service from a particularly rude and obnoxious staff member. Due to this wouldn't visit again even though a local, such a shame.

We went to the Glasshouse Saturday morning for breakfast and sat outside with our dogs. The cafe was buzzing we were served immediately by a welcoming lady and our breakfast baps arrived promptly and looked and tasted delightful. We bought a couple of home made cakes to take home which were very good too, we will definitely come back.

Dreadful arrogant staff member. not coming back again after frequent visits over the past several years. Perhaps she took a dislike to me? PS order your food from the entrance otherwise you will be chastise for leaning over the counter. I have reported this establishment to the food hygiene agency as they leave customer food on the till area without any cover and chastise customers who come to near. Unacceptable!!!

I don’t know what is is with the attitude of staff/manager here. Asked for a bacon roll with the bacon done crispy, and get served up with the bacon barely cooked. Once I received it I asked if it can be done more, and was told that was the most the bacon could be cooked with the appliances they had!!! I didn’t touch it due to the anaemic looking bacon, wasn’t offered a refund, total waste of money, and why want I told they can’t do crispy bacon when I ordered it? My wife had cheese on toast, which they decided to try and be elaborate and put swirly lines of brown sauce over the plate. Not very impressive as she doesn’t like brown sauce and had already asked for tomato sauce when she ordered. Surely someone’s would put 2 and 2 together and if the swirly lines were necessary, do it in the same sauce as the customer had asked for????? WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

What great value and freshly cooked food with a friendly welcome! We will be back and its a bonus as my Mum lives at The Vineyards!

This was my second visit Glasshouse Cafe and if did not disappoint! Lovely welcome by Francesa … great vegetarian breakfast.. gluten free toast and delicious gluten free carrot cake ! What a treat ., highly recommend

Me and my mum always come here! It has fabulous food, the staff are excellent & friendly, & great value too! Don’t even get me started on their claw selection - they’re always amazing!!

I have been visiting The Glasshouse Cafe Bar regularly with my 5 year old daughter. We usually order lunch here. The food is very good and tastefully presented, no matter what we order. Hot drinks and cakes are also delicious. There is an outside sitting area which is nice. Toilet facilities are always clean and there is a comfortable baby change inside one of them. The staff are always friendly and polite, even when serving a lot of customers at the same time. What I like about The Glasshouse is the small things, like raw vegetables cut for my daughter in a way that she can easily eat them without my help.

Popped into the Glasshouse for a quick lunch, lovely friendly staff who were particularly busy, but still very attentive. Delicious fresh food and well presented. Thank you The Glasshouse!

Situated in a little shopping courtyard; The Glasshouse Cafe Bar is a little cafe serving all the regular fayre- teas and coffees, sandwiches and cakes. They have a nice outdoor seating area so that’s where I sat and had a pot of tea and honey...

Staff reasonably friendly. Coffee strong. Cakes looked enticing. Plenty of choice on menu. Average prices. Dog Friendly can sit outside with them. Healthy options available. Although surprised that at 11.00am they had run out of teacakes.

Been meaning to visit this place for ages. Glad I finally made it. Had the vegetarian breakfast which was excellent and value for money. Just sorry I didn’t have room for one of their homemade cakes. Would recommend a visit.

I visited here for lunch last week, it was really lovely. My friend had a banoffee milkshake which looked totally amazing. The menu was really extensive and nicely priced. Cakes looked great.

I’ve popped in here a few times to grab a coffee and we have been turned away at 3:30 saying that they were closing shortly. It’s such a shame as it’s location is absolutely ideal for catching up with friends but more spur of the moment than anything else.There are books here that you can borrow. This is a dog friendly restaurant outside who puts out water for dogs.

Great atmosphere watching the world go by under well maintained chairs and umbrellas, eating and drinking cake and coffee. Staff were friendly, efficient and understood the needs of a coffee drinker who refuses to learn the names as sold in large chains. Lovely cake made by Maire, one of the owners. Definitely go again.

First time of visiting this bar/cafe and I'll say now it won't be the last. Lovely fresh food, faultless service and nice atmosphere.

we visited for a breakfast and i was very dissapointed at the quality and cost for what i got. 1 bacon no taste, 1 decent sausage, beans, uncooked raw mushrooms, tomato and toast £7.25 then another £2.60 for coffee. £10 near on and very poor compaired to other local places like the saddlery, cafe near Bringy pine or Buscall and Flynns in town.

Warm welcome, personal, kind and go the extra mile for all customers including vulnerable people and are dementia friendly. Good food and lovely refreshments.

I wanted a place to eat lunch with my teenage daughter ad she works at the Vineyards. We met here. The staff were very friendly the service was good and the food was delicious, it looked good and tasted great, very fresh. We will go back there again.

Love stopping here for a latte when I have time sometimes on my own and sometimes with a friend ..They also have an alcohol license . Always clean and today ... There small bottles of wine are cheaper than the local pubs on the area which is handy to know :-)

I can only suggest you do not go here f you are on a diet. They have a large range of cakes. All of which look delicious and home made.This is a lovely place to take a break, put your feet up and indulge yourself for a while.

Whether it is for a Coffee or a full blown breakfast I love this little place. I have never had less than great service and it is sad to see some negative reviews. On a good day the seating outside provides a lovely sun trap for my dog and me and I watch the world go around. The prices are perfectly reasonable and the staff cheerful and thoughtful.

We visit every week, a wonderful place, so welcoming and warm staff, it doesn't matter how long we spend there we are never made to feel we have overstayed our welcome. Great food, proper lattes. Highly recommended.

I have been regularly going to The Glasshouse and the Staff/management have been sooooooooo lovely, helpful and accommodating. They are all thoughtful, helpful and make my friends and i feel so welcome. i lead a local church in the area and often go there as a group and the staff have so welcomed us and been not judgmental and accepting of us. The cakes and breakfast are sooo yummy.The other thing is its sooo clean xx especially the toilets xx

My colleague & myself visited this place in Chelmsford after completing our course in general practice .. we wanted to celebrate with a wine saw they had a license & proceeded to enter & read the menu .. no wine was available so while my colleague ordered food I brought us a small bottle of wine from Co op to celebrate ... I cannot honestly remember a time I have been treated so badly by staff Rebecca Friends and Michelle Givens .. We had a jacket potato I was told very abruptly that I had to box up my food as I had already been told I could not drink the wine on the premises ?? This NEVER happened we obviously agreed to move and take our food away at which point we were called alcoholics & how dare we sit on their premises etc .. it was an innocent error we were celebrating & did not deserve such treatment .. The staff were very dramatic & unprofessional & completely vile .. i will be sharing this view over Essex .. please do not attempt to approach this place or the staff as a professional person I'm very appalled

Having now visited the Glasshouse in Great Baddow for some time, I have to say that it's a cracking place to grab a coffee and catch up with friends over lunch. The service is always friendly and really welcoming.The quality of the home cooked food is always at a very high standard with a varied menu. They also accommodate for allergies, gluten free etc., which is great.Overall very impressed and a fantastic to the local community!

My husband works from home, he likes to go out grab a coffee while working, then will eat lunch where ever he is. He went into this place, it was empty- he was the only customer the whole time he was there. He ordered an over priced coffee and got his laptop out to start doing some work- they didn't have wifi- which is fair enough they are a small company. As soon as he finished his coffee, the waitress was on at him about wanting to order anything else, my husband said not at the moment- 5 mins later they asked again- it was nearly lunch time, so again he said in a little while- well at this the waitress told him, that he couldn't stay and had to pay for his coffee. The shop was empty, out of principle, my husband did not say ok well I will have my lunch early- he left and went to the pub round the corner and spent £15 on his lunch! We live 5 mins away- I've never seen more than 2 tables being used- and hearing what other people have said I will not be using it- The white horse pub, have friendly people in it and won't just throw you out, cause you finished your coffee 5 mins ago!!

Been to the Glasshouse countless times to meet up with friends but will never go there again after I was told my 3 year old was not allowed to eat his own snack even though I had ordered breakfast for myself, as they sell their own version (at a very inflated price). As an adult you would not take your own food, but we are talking about a 3 year old child! Every time we have visited my children have always had their own snack and nothing has ever been said. I cancelled my order and left with a 3 year old in tears. How mean spirited and short sighted as have now lost my business as a local resident and those of family and friends. Not very community minded, welcoming or friendly.

After a visit to Tropical Wings we decided to call at the Glass House with the grandchildren. It was lovely. The staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough to ensure the children were catered for.Our granddaughter is often a pain to choose food, but here she immediately saw the sausages, beans and chips and she had those (as did our grandson). My wife and I had an all day breakfast - excellent.Plates were cleared!! This was followed by two slices of home made Victoria sponge each for the children. They were full up and we all left very happy with the experience.Try it

After a nice walk in the sun stopped for a lovely cappuccino, the food, drinks & staff are always very good. The reason I did not make it 5 stars I wish they gave you a choice of milk I always have skimmed but they only offer semi-skimmed so I don't use this lovely cafe as much as I would xx ☕️

After a very brief visit to The Vineyards, I popped into this inviting and very airy looking cafe. A very hot day- not that any of us would complain, but none of the very friendly staff seemed fazed by the heat and we're extremely friendly. The menu is not only very extensive but also all items are freshly prepared and pastries home made at extremely reasonable prices. Keep up the great work, can't wait till the next time

after my husband and i ordered basic cheese on toast (which is not rocket science).... we thought they had put us down for a roast dinner as it took sooo long.when it eventually arrived (after asking several times and being told its on order)were suprised ..no actually annoyed when obvious regulars...known by first names..who had arrived aftet us recieved cooked lunches befor ours.when it eventually arrived...well it certainly WASNT worth the wait..at £4.50 for 2 slices..it wasnt even lovely un cut fresh bread...even though there is a greggs next door...it was bog standard.MED.SLICED cheap bread...thin topped cheese...at a premium price of £12 for 2 (this did inc tea)..the only thing that was any good.after complaining to the boss maria i was told "how do i know whos gonna order cheese on toast..im not gonna waste money on a £1.60 bloomer when u might be the only 2 ordering it...so our reply " take it of the menu then"..i my advise avoid like the plague..get fish and chips nearby and eat in car if u have to....unless u wanna take out a second mortgage ! ! !

we stop here for a coffee on our long bike rides and love sitting on a stool in the window watching everyone going about their business in the Vineyards. The coffees are really good quality. There is a wide range of customers from young to old which is also lovely.

We come to the glasshouse most days to find the perfect blend of good food helpful staff,it's a friendly place and offers what local people want quality .Thanks for giving us local people a great start to the day..................

This was my first and last visit to the Glasshouse cafe. My sister,son and I popped in for a lunchtime snack and coffee. We tried to order at the till area when we arrived and were asked to take a seat. There were no menus on the tables and I had to scour the cafe to find two. After finding it too hot inside the cafe we told the staff that we were going outside and they acknowledged this. We waited, and waited and other apparently 'regular customers' were welcomed and served. We waited and waited some more, trying to catch the attention of the staff who were enjoying a laugh and joke behind the work station. In the end we went to the Greggs opposite and obtained a smashing fresh sandwich/cake and drink in about 3 mins flat!!!Hint Glasshouse staff...if you want to make money, welcome and SERVE your hungry and thirsty customers!!! - very disappointed and will not return!
