Glan-y-Don Inn in Flintshire

On our way home from a weekend in Wales and we stopped here on a recommendation. From the minute I walked in my brain was screaming no! It was not looking the cleanest of places this may be because it is so dated inside with tatty furniture and dirty carpets but as it did have a 5 star hygiene to the entrance door and with my dad being diabetic and neededing food we went with it. We ordered three roast dinners and they arrived homemade but the veg was waterlogged and tasteless and I was pretty much not willing to take a chance of eating in here so waited for the parents to finish and made a quick exit. Only reason I put poor and not terrible was because the lady and her daughter that was about 10 that served us was very polite.

Obtiene lo que se paga. No deje de disfrutar las estupendas pero eso no es lo que quieren. Comida casera. Aunque los ingredientes baratos pero como he dicho, los precios reflejan esto! El personal es amable, pero no esperes un uniforme o de ser llamado señor/señora, si esto es lo que se espera no vayas! Ambiente? Ocupado/ruidoso/básico. Sin embargo, un muy cálido worn interior. ves lo que te dan y es razonable en consecuencia. ¿Volvería? Tal vez.

Mi hija y a mi pareja de Cardiff con los niños para el fin de semana, ya que sólo disponemos de una casa de 3 cama necesitaban una noche y una estancia de una noche. cuando ella llamó fueron incapaces de un precio por alojamiento y le pidieron que Ring volver, quizás deberían haber tomado su número?. Sin embargo, tenían buena sala de comida y no cabe duda de que volvería.

Paramos para ambas ocasiones comida en nuestro camino de regreso. El personal ha sido bastante acogedor. El lugar no es la mejor si uno busca algo de ambiente. La comida era poco convincente. pechugas de pollo seco, pescado muy grasienta y patatas fritas, ensalada sosa. olvidar el vino!

Me alojé cuando encuentro un amigo que trabaja en el local, y el personal era amable y servicial, nos dieron direcciones a varias/rutas ciclistas estatutarias cuando pedimos. La comida estaba bien de precio y muy buena, con una selección de mesas, dentro o fuera, además de un acogedor restaurante zona. excelente selección de cerveza y un agradable ambiente para probar. habitación estaba muy agradable con una excelente ducha power shower.

We called in for a meal on the way through to our caravan. We were very disappointed in the quality of the food especially given the high prices of the meals, We had a Chili con Carne with no taste, no spice and no kidney beans? When we complained 9 kidney beans arrived on a separate plate!!!! Apparently they don't like kidney beans in Wales, what nonsense!!!! A beefburger we had could have been used as ice hockey puck, it was that hard. For £35.00 for 3 basic pub meals I was expecting a little more by way of quality. When we complained further 7 members of staff came out of the kitchen and they were very intimidating. Please avoid this place all they seem to want to do is rip off tourists and I as a Welshman I am disgusted in the behavior of these people. they do not deserve to carry on trading.

Been here loads of times with family and friends and must have tried everything on the menu (between us all) and have never been able to fault anything. Have recomended to loads of people and will continue to do so

We went here for a social evening. We had called in a few days before to pick up some menus and my husband came out to say it looked better on the inside. They do an early bird menu between 4pm - 7pm and then classic main meals at 2 for £9.95. When we arrived we were welcomed and seated with the main party, we were asked if we wanted drinks and these were served promptly. Food orders were taken quickly, we chose the "homemade chicken curry" with rice and our daughter asked for the children's pizza with chips. Our daughter's meal was somewhat of a disappointment, a cheap frozen pizza with a lot of cheese on it to disguise it. Our chicken curry didn't taste homemade and I struggled to find much chicken in it, although there were a lot of peppers and sultanas? The bill came to less than £20. The restaurant was clean, service prompt.

I took my husband and two children for a "spare of the moment" meal, I had been here once before and enjoyed it. My husband pulled a bit of a face when we pulled up but I said give it a go... Trust me.... He had to eat his words the service was friendly and the meal excellent and plenty of it with so much choice, my little boy said it was the best meal he had !!!! Definitely one of our favourite places to go. My only bit of a moan was they had some sort if coal fire? Or heating and it was back smoking into the restaurant and I came home stinking of smoke but that I'm sure was a one off and it was a little but chilly but that again is down to the fault. Definitely give the place a go.

Lovely food, great staff and reasonable portion sizes! - exceptionally clean and welcoming! Would definitely recommend!

I had heard good things about this pub so decided to give it ago i went on a sunday and must say the roasts are delicious the meat jus melted in my mouth and the value is excellant 3 courses for 8.95 bargain!

Visited on Sunday 28th October with friends and family, the Sunday roast is absolutely gorgeous would recommend this pub 2 any1, the staff were very polite and helpful!! Really enjoyed the meal! X

Visted this place three times over the course of 2 months. The first time was excellent, polite staff, lovely food and lots of it! Very reasonably priced and attractive 2 for £5 deals. Very clean if not bland and sterile, but nice. 2nd visit, a bit of a disappointment due to the fact that 3 of the 4 starters we ordered were unavailable. (Party of 4 and it was a special occasion). The waitress openly admitted she was new and had not had very much training - and it showed, through no fault of her own, but drinks were forgotten or completely wrong, food forgotten about, and the whole evening just felt a bit disjointed and hectic - but we put this down to "a bad night" and were willing to eat there again a few weeks later as the food that was available was very enjoyable. 3rd time...oh dear, the bar staff seemed to also be the waiting staff, so everyone in the restaurant was neglected. We were a party of 2, yet a larger table (4-5) who arrived 20 mins after us were seated, had their drinks and food orders taken before us. We were seated by the hallway to the loo's and everytime someone used the hand drier, it sounded like a hoover being used right behind us. Very off putting as we were trying to enjoy a quiet meal together as a seldom treat. Both the wine and beer seemed exceptionally expensive, bearing in mind that it was only a small glass of standard house rosé (gallo). Food was nice, but again most of the starters were not available, the waitress was still confused and flustered, so by the middle of the evening we decided to make her life simple and not order any more drinks, or ask for desert. We asked for the bill and waited an age, so much so we were tempted to just leave, and i doubt they would have noticed. Seriously gone down hill and we wont be making a 4th visit. Such a shame.

Popped in today with my husband daughter and mother in law. The food was excellent, Sunday dinner like your mum used to make! Real hand cut chips which my daughter lover. The meat just melts in the mouth. Absolutely brilliant. The staff were lovely and friendly and the dining area is clean and airy. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Called in here after seein signs outside advertising 2 for 1 and children's meals. Would not visit again, worst lasagne ever had, didnt think u could go wrong with such a simple meal but it was basically mince in a cheese sauce with a few pieces of tomatoes thrown in and a cheese crust on top, no pasta to be seen. As for the real chips, they were very undercooked like they had been put in fryer for a minute then removed. My 3 yr old son had the fish finger children's meal but refused the chips and his dad had the chicken burger which was very dry, salad had also seen better days. Very disappointed.

This is the place to eat in north Wales, it's on the coast road in mostyn, just opened back as a pub(was and Indian restaurant before and was shut for number of years) they do 241 £9.95 on main meals and 241 on puds it's delicious, all homemade and with real hand cut chips and Sunday lunches are Devine meat melts in your mouth. Pop in on way past well worth a visit can't wait to go back
