Gill's Golden Fish And Chips in North Tyneside

Food was nice . Portions small (ordered LARGE COD AND LARGE CHIPS) . Our usual fish and chip shop do a large cod and chips that we share as they do very generous portions.

Kebab meat is not a good flavour and it’s to thick got bits in it to could end up at the dentist

when I ordered was told food would arrive within 1 hour, food finally arrived just after 2 hours from ordering. when I spoke to takeaway which was after the delivery was supposed to be delivered they said orders were taking 1 and half hours and my food was just getting made then. just say that when I order and I wouldn't of had an issue with it taking so long

So disappointed. Had food from here many times, but tonight was awful. Arrived very late (over 2hrs after ordering), then when the food eventually arrived (had to call and chase up on food), it was stone cold, chips rank and totally inedible. Nearly £20 just totally wasted. The only positive was there did look to be a good amount of meat in the wrap, just a shame it wasn’t freshly made and hot to be enjoyed.

Lovely piping hot food. Gorgeous haddock and chips and cod and chips. Arrived a little early which was fine as we were hungry! Nice delivery lady too

ordered food at 630 didnt get delivered until 8 being late i dont mind too much but they got the order all wrong and the food they did send was cold and it went in to the bin will never order from there again and wouldnt recommend others to order

For the record this place used to be nice a few years ago and for the price the potion’s were quite small, kebab wasn’t all that either donner was a little bit pale for my liking and the chicken felt slimy other than that chips and pop for £40 cheers I know I won’t be ordering again.

Hour and a half wait for the most disgusting, inedible food! My 6 year old wouldn’t touch his either which spoke volumes.. Called shop an hour into wait was given the most pathetic excuse that there’s road works which is why was taking longer when it actually arrived the delivery guy couldn’t even look at me! No apologies nothing.. Mays well have just set a £20 note alight

Got a bag of chips here and they were exceptionally poor, pale with a very unpleasant texture (under cooked), i used to be regular here but have been disappointed one to many times, very, very poor.

Pepperoni pizza was lush, the rest were not as nice as pepperoni

A regular and honest review. I am bigger fan of the pizza party, but over last 4-5 years the price has climbed from 3 10inch pizza at £12.99 to £20 but the 3 pizza is now 8inch plus 1 extra pizza. Mixed kebab is really tasty but half the time in a wrap it’s all fallen out.

Gills has always been my go to place as food was always delicious and portion sizes were great! However, I will not be ordering from here again. I ordered a large tray of kebab with chips and garlic sauce. The portion size was laughable! Not even half a tray of kebab and around 15 chips. Whereas previously I would get a full tray of kebab and plenty chips. I think its shocking how they have increased their prices yet decreased the portion sizes. I wouldn't actually mind paying the extra had they kept portion sizes the same. Giving 2 stars as the food was actually quite nice, especially the garlic sauce.

Food was disgusting and we could not eat it. was greasy, not hot, smelt off and had no taste. They missed our sauces and sent a random item that was not ours.

it's was late when we called the place they said it had already been delivered but it had not arguing whit us on the phone saying there is nothing that they could do then 10m later the food turns up cold and the Donna rap was not evern wrapped

We ordered fish and chips for both of us after a long debate of will we / won't we. Our delivery was on time hence 1 star. How on earth you can have the nerve to send out disgusting inedible food is beyond me. There won't be a next time ...... your business is a joke........ but not at my expense. Looking at reviews this seems to be an ongoing trend with your establishment, but it obviously doesn't seem to bother you. Stop ripping us off and get it sorted. Your business used to be the best for miles now its not worth a mention.

£17.10 for a fish chips and small mushy peas. The fish was absolutely tiny smaller than a kids fish and did not taste like haddock. Large chips were not large and small mushy peas were tiny.

The food should be sold in Iceland because when ever you get anything you have to bake it at home! Food quality has gone down hill badly yet prices keep going up. Shame!

Was charged £7.30 for small sausage chips & curry sauce. Chips were dry & cold. The woman serving me ignored me for a few minutes while she asked/shouted at someone on other side of counter to go to aldi to get her some fruit & veg. Over priced awful food from a rude ignorant staff member - I definitely won't be back!!

Food used to be lovely but massively went down hill, thought it was a 1 off but the last 3 times ordering have been disgusting won’t be ordering from here again.

Really fast and friendly service. The chops were cooked perfectly and fish was high quality. The shop is clean and well kept which adds to the confidence in the service. A great place for quality fish and chips.

Food was delivered within the time slot given. However the food was very cold. Both orders had to be reheated at home. I do not know if it because Gills is taking too many orders but the quality of food and service has dropped. I always order Fish and chips for Good Friday but this year I will be going elsewhere

A really bad experience, very poor food and no regard or care for customer satisfaction.

Item missing from order, not for the first time either. Boss assured me that he would drop it straight off. 30 mins later he dropped it off. I said, this has spoilt someones meal as he was supposed to drop it straight off. His reply was, he had other deliveries to do. Food was nice but chips were cold. No customer service attall.

Scampi was mush, not crispy like normally is, pizza topping was stuck to the lid of the box, husband really enjoyed it (NOT). Care for food delivery was not taken on this occasion

Very good fried food and not too much waiting around as they have a dedicated fryer in the background and usually 2 women taking the orders and dishing up the grub. It's worth a try and holds up well against a wealth of competition. It even sells alcohol if that's on your menu too 👍

There were missing items. One portion of chips were missing. They said they will provide lettuce in the fish burger but there was no lettuce in it. Just plain fish burger. The oven fish was like it was just boiled nothing on it when it described the fish will have sesame seeds and spice. Really disappointed. Not ordering from there again.

Our food arrived and it was the worse food order I have ever recieved, everything was soggy and mushed together, the chips seems like yesterday's, absolutely awful, I will be asking for a refund as this food has not been touched. I have photos which I will be uploading

Fish was very dry obviously been cooked well before hand. Batter on the fish was soggy and undercooked and so were the chips. All in all, unpleasant and a waste of money.

Would recommend. Lovely fish and chips. You get lots and got a free garlic bread :-D

Too much topping (cheese) on all 4 pizzas. So much so, the outer cheese was burned while the inner was uncooked.

Lovely food. Everything so tasty. Pizzas were amazing and kebab with naan bread was delish!

What on earth has happened to the long established Gills take away! Has it changed ownership? This place used to be the staple go to of Wallsend. Our family was starving and I decided to treat them to a solid takeaway. Whilst I admittedly over ordered for a family of four the only place that is no longer feeling empty is the bin.

Put my mushy peas ON TOP of my donner kebab, ruining the whole kebab. Should have put them in a pot like they usually do. Chips were also cold and undercooked. I've ordered from here for years, and it's always been lovely, but this time was a disgrace.

Tray of Kebab meat arrived but was absolutely swimming in garlic sauce. It was way too much and was unable to eat my meal. Such a shame as usually enjoy my meals from here.
