Have been a regular visitor to Moore's garden centre and Gilmores cafe for several years. Recently the quality and overall presentation of the food served at the cafe has sadly deteriorated. Ordered two poached eggs and mushrooms on toast yesterday (19.05.2024) and a sausage and egg cob. The food arrived and the mushrooms weren't on the toast, they were on the plate with the cob and a tiny portion. 8 pieces of sliced mushrooms which were cold. Poached eggs were very undercooked, the egg white barely cooked resulting in a soggy horrible mess on the toast. It was inedible as the eggs were raw. There were several breakfast orders being delivered to the wrong tables despite the tables having numbers on them. Overall it was a shambles. Used to be so well managed and the food piping hot and presented well but not anymore. Worst breakfast I have ever had. Cooking eggs correctly is basic food hygiene. The new menu may look appealing, whoever is doing the cooking isn't doing a very good job. Had the eggs benedict a few weeks ago and that wasn't great either. They need to visit Matlock garden centre, breakfast is superb, piping hot and presentation is very good. What has happened to the good old days of piping hot food, omelettes presented with lovely salad etc.

I ordered scampi and chips. The ‘scampi’ that was served wasn’t scampi. It was a scampi like fish paste inside bread crumbs. Very disappointing and obviously some sort of cheap product that has scampi flavour listed in the ingredients. I sent it back and received a refund.

The food was acceptable but far from good. The service was abysmal. The lady who took my order was so unfriendly I wanted to walk out but being with my husband, son, daughter and their spouses, my grandchildren plus my elderly father I didn’t want to create a scene. Would I go again….. no way!!! The staff in that cafe are definitely in the wrong job. Miserable, rude and very unwelcoming, no wonder it was empty.

Wanted hot food, but Quiche was pretty bland and fish pie stodgy and luke warm. Not a particularly warm welcome either

This was the first time for us at Moores Garden Centre. The cafe was not too busy when we arrived. There was plenty of food choice on the menu and the cake selection was MMMMMMMMMMM. We found a very nice table and ordered our food. We had 3 x Full Breakfast & 1 Scampi & Chips. The food came very quickly and as the plates were very hot the food also kept hot while we ate. The breakfast was wonderful and the scampi looked really good. All the meals were very plentiful and excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cafe is not very big but beautifully kept and clean. We will definitely make a return visits to this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch out.

This was our 3rd visit here, previously we'd eaten outside in the Summer bringing an elderly relative for a meal as the access is level,The full English breakfast went down well , my only complaint was the marge on the egg salad roll .. This time we sat inside cheered by the wood burning stove but the ambience was frosty and serving staff seem very grim . We ordered cappuccino with bacon roll & chocolate brownie [not hard to get wrong -you'd think !?] The coffee was so weak it tasted just like hot water , the cake was coated with an unpleasant sticky substance and there was no taste of chocolate in the brownie what so ever , the bacon roll had been spread with the unpleasant marge which ketchup could not mask . We will still buy from the plant nursery but be in no rush to eat in the cafe again as it's just not the treat we had in mind ,

We pop to Moore 's garden centre and couldn't resist going into Gillmoores for a Americano and piece of cake. Staff very efficient and cake delicious. Lovely and relaxing while it was raining outside.

Went with friends for luch we all had jacket potatoes with coronation chicken, unfortunately plenty of tasteless sauce hardly any chicken. Still hungry so had a slice of coffee and walnut cake which was disappointingly dry and very sweet. My friend's lemon cake was delicious. Tea ok, coffee good. Waitress very miserable. Won't bother going back.

I have from time to time popped in to use this cafe when visiting the nursery for plants but today was the first time hubby and I took advantage of the weekly special. Thursday is pie day - for £6.95 we had Pie, chips, peas and gravy, a cup of coffee each and a pud. Yummy and affordable. The price may have been the pensioners rate (I stand corrected on this) but would happily have paid more it really was tasty and filling. I can see Pie day becoming a firm favourite lunch time treat.

Very good garden centre we always try to use it , and have used the cafe several times . But last time we went we were disappointed with the meal.Four of us had Scampi and it was very overcooked , quite hard in fact. If the prices were very reasonable maybe you would think oh well ,but I feel on this occasion it was bad value and we would have been better going for a pub deal. Also one of the waitresses was miserable , everything a bit too much trouble . Shame .

Visited twice-nice cake and a generous portion too. Found the roast dinner nicely presented and served promptly but not so home made! Reasonable price and comfortable seating areas though. Good for meets with friends.

All the coffee here tastes like real coffee, unlike the watered-down offerings of some other garden centre eateries. The food is prepared on the premises; portions are generous. The cakes especially are excellent, cake like granny used to make, not 'modern' sponge full of fresh air.

Good quality food from the pensioner menu. Quantities not huge but adequate and of good standard. Price reasonable. Service good but waitress would benefit from a more smiley countenance.

Gillmoores wich is situated inside Moors Nursery Stanton-on-the-Wolds. Every Thursday lunchtime I go here with my carerer. I love going their food is good and affordable. They offer seniors a good deal main meal and desert and a cup of tea just over £6. The food is brought to the table quickly even when they are busy. Even thou the food is brought out quickly it is tasty, hot and delicious and affordable, and it is a lovely place to take children. The staff are always very polite and helpful. Gillmoores cafe being situated inside Moors Nursery means anytime you are there to browse around you can pop into Gillmoores and have a drink, cake, Lunch etc. I most definitely highly recommend Gillmoores of Stanton-on-the-Wolds as a Cafe you should go and check out their affordable menu.

We have called in here on many occasions. Whilst the food looks tempting and good value for money, I rarely find anything to eat as I'm Coeliac Gluten and Dairy free. The family and especially the grandchildren enjoy their visits and the cakes, but I invariably sit with a pot of peppermint tea and watch them. Disabled ♿ friendly with disabled ♿ parking and wheelchair ♿ loan, but just one small loo. Such a pity that a goodly proportion of visitors are denied spending their money here!

Lovely Family run business. Friendly staff, gorgeous meals with a great choice. Reasonably priced and senior meals daily at £6·95 for 2 courses. Have been here many times and introduced new diners to this establishment.

We have been here a couple of times and like it very much. Debbie the new manager is a fantastic addition to the team. Cakes are good and the selection of hot food caters for all tastes. Good coffee. The garden centre is also very good. We will return again soon.

Late afternoon, with the rain pouring down, we stopped off at this Garden Centre and Cafe, originally to purchase plants but the weather was against this. Instead we dropped in for a welcome cuppa and were tempted by the delicious cakes. The staff were very friendly, the tea, in a copious pot, was refreshing and the coffee and walnut cake was delicious, much better than my own! We were probably their last customers of the day, and didn't realise the time was near to closing. Nevertheless we did not feel rushed in any way and were able to finish our tea in the quiet environment. We will certainly return to complete our purchases and sample their tempting luncheon menu. We might even try a Wednesday when there is the opportunity for a game of Bingo after lunch!

Garden centre cafe which is very friendly, with efficient service, a good variety of food (especially to say it's only quite small) and well priced. I had the seasonal soup (curried butternut squash) which was a good consistency and very tasty. The bread it came with didn't particularly float my boat, but it was perfectly good for dunking in soup. The cakes looked very tempting too.

We stopped here for a few hours before the football match. It’s gets very busy just before the match, so early arrival is advised before a match. Great atmosphere! Great music! Great staff! A perfect place to stop before the match! And right next to the stadium too!

Stayed overnight on a short biking trip. The kitchens were closed for refurbishment but they called me in advance to let me know, so this was no problem and there are plenty of alternatives locally. That said, breakfast was available and was delicious. My room was perfect! Spacious, really clean, super comfy with a really lovely bathroom. The bed was easily large enough (I'm 6'3") and comfy. LOVED the fact that there was no TV but good quality Wi-Fi was there anyway; I wanted some peace and quiet in lovely surroundings - and found it. Really liked it too that the the rooms could be accessed from the back and not just through the (charming) bar. Once the refurbishments are complete I shall definitely be returning. Gem of a place.

Food is overpriced, pool table always breaks, during the poker nights they decided to run bingo with some silly mare screaming down a microphone. Pub has gone down hill a lot under current management.

Lovely welcome from the bar manager and land lady as we walk in. The lounge bar and toilets were very clean. As the current land lady had on just took over the running of the pub, there was no ales on offers. This is something that she is looking to get sorted in the not too distant future. Defo put this place on your list of pubs to visit when in the area. Good luck, Three Horseshoe's, see you again sometime!!
