Truly the best food I’ve ever had. Just perfection. Myself and my family were visiting from Ireland, we all absolutely loved it! I’m home now & still thinking about the sandwich I had 😂 I also tired a bit of everyone’s food & again I couldn’t fault anything 10/10! The customer service was just excellent! So friendly, funny & helpful! They so kindly continued to serve us even though they had closed up their food services for the day. I would recommend 100 times over! I hope I get to visit again, lovely place, people & even better food ❤️

We went there for lunch today, I was really impressed by the politeness, happy smiles, excellent service. All 3 of us fully enjoyed the lunch. Gary and his younger team member were absolutely fantastic “I strongly recommend this place” delicious, fresh, clean location 🙏

Gilbert’s is such a great place to go for breakfast and lunch, Tara and Gary are so friendly and a great part of the community in Whitstable, there food and drinks menu is so varied and something for everyone , good quality food, they also have a fantastic deli there and there is always something new to pick from. Perfect place for a catch up with friends and to people watch. 5 stars from me.

Went here to get a cuppa, before we got our coach home. Had a chat and laugh with the manager, didn't mind us sitting for a while. Good range of foods on offer, and caters for all tastes. Very friendly.

I came here for lunch based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and the fact they cater to different dietary requirements and they did not disappoint in the least! I got the warmest welcome, Gary and Tara are possibly the friendliest and funniest couple! They obviously take great pride in their shop and work hard to keep it that way. I got a delicious mackerel salad made for me by Tara.

1000% this place is a gem.... Come here after the usual cafe we would go to was shut.... Bloody glad we did ... Wil be coming back very soon. Everything was spot on , food , service, the place is done out very well!! A must try if your in Whitstable!

We went to Gilbert’s for lunch and was very impressed by the service and food. To quote my husband “this is the best breakfast bap I have ever had” I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. It was amazing!!!

Not only a unique coffee shop but Tara & Gary Gilbert also catered for our wedding buffet with the most incredible customer relations, proficiency, value for money and of course, excellent food!

Sat outside with my dogs. Inside the building a delicious selection of eclectic food stuffs from around the world. I chose for my breakfast a bacon, black pudding and pea ketchup baguette with a mug of Yorkshire tea and sausages for the dogs . Totally delicious and unique.

Food - Owners and Staff are excellent - always make you fill at home - you should try it and see for yourself.

We stopped off for take away sandwiches/rolls they were delicious! Plentiful in filling and LOTS of choice. Really tasty happy family!

I have ventured down to Whitstable on quite a few occasions from London. Love the place but find eating out difficult. Lots of choice but little imagination & value. Then I stumbled across this gem. Great selection of food & the hosts are extremely warm & hospitable. I chose the Ruben on a Kent Huffkin. Never heard of a Huffkin before but there you go. Extremely satisfying, good price & excellent service. Great selection of unusual but tasty ingredients on sale too. Cannot cook my roast potatoes now without adding a sprinkle of Mrs Ts of Whitstable seasoning mix. It's so good. Good Luck Gary & Tara. You have a great business here & I look forward to repeat

I escaped London to live in Whitstable for a year during lockdown and would regularly treat myself to a jacket potato at Gilberts as a midweek lunch. Gary and Tara always greeted me with a smile, and are so friendly and warm to everyone. You can tell they're a big part of the local community. And as for the potato - I say this with all honesty - best jacket potato ever. The handmade coleslaw is 10/10. They also do a wide selection of veggie and vegan food, and lots of lovely deli bits. You won't be disappointed if you pop in for lunch or breakfast!

Quick lunch here today resulted in me experiencing the best baked potato I’ve ever eaten, sounds trivial but this place needs recognition. From the exterior it looks very unassuming, I will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone.

There are lots of cafes in the town almost spoilt for choice but this little place is a gem ! Great varied choice for all dietary requirements and good food. The owners are just lovely x Well worth a visit x

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. We had the granary Huffkin ploughmans and these were delicious. The coleslaw and condiments were delicious, as was the coffee. The service is friendly and the owners clearly take pride in their food. It’s well worth the walk to the other end of the high street.

Was offered a sample of Blue Aurora blueberry wine, then bought a bottle and some of their cider and other bits including Belgian choc custard! Charming and interesting interior, arranged with a lot of thought and superb customer service. Will be visiting again soon.

My husband and our dog had brunch in August here , we were made to feel very welcome food and drinks where great and staff where really friendly nothing was to much trouble , we’re definitely going back there on our next visit to whitstable.
