Gianni's in Eastbourne

The food is really nice and yummy. We visited Eastbourne expecting a seafood meal and the restaurant just didn’t disappoint us. We got a table of 9 people without reservation in 2 seconds (but I would suggest to book in advance to guarantee your seat), the staff are friendly and helpful. The quality of food is so great and the price is also reasonable. Looking forward for our next visit.

We loved it - stumbled upon this place without a booking on a rainy Saturday night after travelling down from London. Three adults and two tired kids. Absolutely perfect for a family - no worries about kids making noise or not being welcome. It’s a busy, bustling restaurant and the service was impeccable. Sometimes when it’s good for families you lose out on food quality. Not here - everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and all the courses were so tasty. My husband and I have travelled extensively in Italy and we really liked the food at Gianni’s. It was very good. For me, the service here really made our night. Always with a smile and we were never made to feel hurried or unwelcome. It was really spot on. Thank you!

The pizza and spaghetti are delicious, although I would appreciate a slightly drier pizza base. The desserts are tasty, though a tad sweeter than my preference. However, it's worth noting that the desserts prices are a bit on the expensive side.

Went here for dinner on recommendation from my hotel. I called before to ask if the had any gluten free meals and was so happy to hear they could do any pizza, pasta dish as GF and they had other options too. I asked if the pizza base was commercial (AKA disappointing and small!) but they said their GF pizza bases are homemade too! Arrived to quite a quiet restaurant (worst storm of 2024 yet in March), but with a table already set and waiting 🙂 Started with mozzarella, tomatoes and rocket. Huge ball of creamy mozzarella, flavoursome tomatoes and lovely fresh, mild rocket. Served with really good quality EVOO and balsamic vinegar. Ordered the 5 cheese pizza as my main. The GF base was absolutely banging, couldn’t distinguish it from a glutinous base at all. Just the right balance of cheeses, not dripping with grease like a Domino’s. I ordered a house red, but they had run out, so they kindly gave me a more expensive wine for the same price, which was kind of them. Could not fault the friendliness or service. Attentive without being intrusive. I haven’t been so excited about food for a really long time. Eastbourne is a two hour drive from me, but I would happily go back to eat here again, probably for my next birthday. I expect this place is rammed in summer so would recommend booking!

Traditional Pinseria we had the best pinsa ever, staff is super professional, clean toilets and baby changing facilities available. I am Italian and this was the best Italian food in a long time! Don't forget to ask for ice cream!! Certified traditional Roman Pinseria, we ate very well, the staff is very professional and the bathroom (which also has a nappy changing station) is very clean. I'm Italian and this was the best food I've had in a long time!

Cold wintry night but found this welcoming venue with excellent food. The Roman pinsa with Parma ham, rocket salad and Parmesan shavings was excellent. Highly recommended

Gianni’s was recommended by our Uber driver as we were craving pizza. We went by on a November Saturday at about 5pm or so and immediately got a table, but when we left at 7 it got really busy. The vibe was lovely. They have the half and half pizza option. So we each got to eat according to our preference. Service was great. We had the El Diablo and funghi and added chicken to half the pizza, the funghi side for 1 pound. We also had the TAGLIATELLE GAMBERI PICANTE. Quantity of both was sufficient for 3 of us girls.The rose tea was nice too. Loved the experience. Recommended!

We had dinner here during our trip to Eastbourne, we arrived late in the evening and everywhere else had closed. We came across Gianni's and they were still serving. We were welcomed with a smile and the ladies were so lovely throughout our meal. The restaurant had nice decor and a nice atmosphere. The meals were reasonably priced and tasty. Would recommend.

Note to mamagement: never before have I been refused a table in a restaurant with so many tables available due to short staff. Staff were very polite, but obviously something going wrong.

Why are there not more Roman Pinsa restaurants in the UK? Since 2008 when the original Franco Manco opened in Brixton market, we’ve had traditional Neopolitan style pizzas pop up across the UK. Yet, we have only one certified Romana Pinsa restaurant, Giannis Italian restaurant in Eastbourne. Pinsa is so different from a Neopolitan pizza, it’s not really a pizza at all, it’s an insult to compare them ! From the flours used in the base, the shape, taste and texture of the base and also a lot of the toppings used, are all different from a pizza. Only one of the 13 Pinsa’s on the menu uses a tomato sauce and even this is nothing like the sauce used on a pizza. The bread base is crispy and sturdy and can hold lots of toppings, not soft and sloppy in the middle like a Neopolitan pizza base, which I also adore. The lovely Aleksandra who owns the place with her husband Gianni the expert Pinsa master creator, suggested we tried a half metre Pinsa to share. This was 4 different Pinsa’s of our choice, giving us 2 slices of each flavour for £35. We’d driven 2 hours just to try the only official Rome certified Pinsa restaurant in the UK, so we went for it. It was a pleasure and a challenge for the 2 of us to get through the 16 slices, but they were all so gorgeous we managed it after a short break. It could have easily fed 4 normal eaters for lunch. This place also does Neopolitan style pizzas, which I’m sure are also amazing with all the normal toppings you’d expect, but try a Pinsa for a change. Will definitely make the trip to Eastbourne again, just to for a Pinsa.

A really nice Italian restaurant in Eastbourne. The service was really good and accommodating and the waiters were happy to assist when we asked for our starters to be part of main meal. The quality of the food was good and I would recommend having the ice cream from the front of the restaurant. There was also a good range of dishes to choose from.

Pleased to find Pinsa, the Roman version of pizza

My wife and myself visited this lovely little restaurant on Saturday the 19th November 2022. To be honest, it wasn’t our first choice, it was the nearest. We were in Eastbourne for the weekend and after a few drinks we walked to what we thought would be an “alright sorta place”. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The food was above what we were expecting. I don’t post often as I expect decent food and service for the price I pay. This little place went above and beyond. If you want a lovely Italian meal for a reasonable price with a friendly atmosphere and friendly staff, I would recommend you try here.

Honestly, hands down the best food I’ve tasted. The lasagne is to die for. Could not recommend enough. We’ve now found our favourite little gem. I came with my partner two nights in a row, and he is the fussiest eater around, but he had no complaints. Absolutely lovely food and very reasonable prices considering how fresh it is. Will definitely come back when we are next in the area.

Wow! Being married to a VERY picky half Italian husband I was absolutely delighted that Gianni's Italian Restaurant met and exceeded his high expectations. He had Spaghetti Marinara and I had the 4 cheese pizza....not a scrap was left! The pasta dish was full of seafood and perfectly cooked. The pizza was beautiful...just the perfect amount of gorgonzola...tasty but not overpowering. Then the ice-cream! What a delight! Better than any ice cream I've had in Italy...and I've had a few. A must go if anywhere near Eastbourne...my only regret is we live 9 hours drive away but if we are anywhere near Eastbourne this place will be on our must do list...superb meal thank you so much ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (no photos as we tucked into the food before we remembered 🙈)

Really don't do Italian food in GB but glad I did, couldn't have done better myself which is a very high standerd. The food was no less than outsanding and it's a pity it's not closer to where I live in Scotland😭😭😭 Would love to be a millionair so I could fly here at least once a week. Grazie mille a tutti😘

Visited here on my holiday to Eastbourne. Great customer service friendly and attentive staff. Great food tasty fresh and hot. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely return of I'm ever in Eastbourne again.

If you like authentic Italian this is the place to go their Carbonara in very traditional not full of sauce and the Gelato is fantastic. The choice of dishes is good and the Garlic Mushrooms are very tasty and certainly taste of garlic and the sauce is fantastic. The Garlic Bread is great a visit is thoroughly recommended,, prices are reasonable.

We loved it! Great place for an authentic Italian meal. Unpretentious. Delicious pizza (loved the pinsa!) pasta and wonderful ice-cream. Great service. Nothing too much trouble for the staff in looking after our family. Thank you!

De pizza's zijn allemaal tussen de 9 en 12 euro. Ze zijn redelijk groot, dunne bodem en redelijk belegd. Het voorgerecht: knoflook brood met kaas stelde echter niks voor. 4 plakjes stokbrood met wat geraspte kaas erop, en even onder de grill. En dat voor 5 pond. Een bolletje ijs kost 3,50 pond. Een halve liter bier: 6,50 pond. Best dure prijzen.

Even though half of the Restaurant was empty we had to wait half an hour for a table. Service was horrible and they don’t accept separate payments. The Toilets were not working.

Had the seafood linguini which was absolutely amazing. The starters were mostly all deep fried expected them to be fresher! But still good... Amazing ice cream

The food was not bad but not great; the lasagna was the best! However, unprofessional teams -except for one employee- lack knowing their menu, have unfriendly staff and are not in the mood to work!! But It has a great price and location. I do recommend the lasagna only. Otherwise, do not go :)

This is an amazing place. Excellent selection of dishes available - different pasta dishes and pizzas being the main dishes. Food is cooked to order, so you'll have a wait once you place your order. The food is well worth the wait though - large portions of delicious food served on warm plates. The desserts on offer range from simple ice cream to an amazing, calorie loaded dish made with pizza dough folded over, filled with Nutella and baked. This is baked to order and is definitely a dessert for sharing. There's a good drinks menu, including cocktails. The wine list is small but varied. An excellent place for a delicious meal.

Just opposite Harry Ramsdens near the seafront. Authentic Italian food. A small step to access inside or pavement tables outside. Bar is well stocked and the staff friendly. Highly recommended. Not particularly cheap but not excessively expensive for the quality of food served. Didn't try toilets.

A really lovely atmosphere, surprisingly big inside. After we asked for a long island ice tea every time we visited they actually reprinted thier menus adding the long island onto it! The manager is really lovely and makes you feel really welcome as do all the staff. Don't just come here for ice cream, the food and drinks are perfectly Italian!

Such a lovely restaurant to visit. We’ve been here month ago, and fall in love with pasta marinara, so as we decided to visit Eastbourne again, our first stop for lunch was Gianni’s and as a first time everything was amazing 🤩 they had some problems with staff, and it takes time to wait longer to be served, but it’s never a problem to ask waiters come to your table if you don’t want to wait for them👌🏻 very upset about customers behavior,who acting rude to staff especially when they are busy and trying to pay maximum attention to everyone. I will definitely come back later, worth every penny! 💗💗

I had an amazing meal tonight, I had the spaghetti with seafood and my partner had spaghetti bolognase we also had the delicious ice-cream, the service was fantastic and I wish I could have another meal there, but I'm going home tomorrow, best meal ever 😋

Two consecutive nights tried to go to another local Italian but ended up at Gianni's. It must have been fate, because the food and service was excellent. My wife an I are fans of Italian food and found the taste truly authentic and flavourfull. The exterior of this wonderful restaurant does not do it justice. Give it's try!!

Very disturbing and vulgar customer service. Shocking experience. We left this place sad and verbally abused. We have never come across such a terrible customer customer service. We went there with family and left disgusted and speechless. At first when we walked in the lady from the bar shouted "Stop where you are!"Stated very aggressively from the beginning. For the next time maybe: " Please wait for one moment to be seated. I will be with you shortly" would be a better way of allocating your guests? The lady was running around and complaining she has no staff,that they are on lunch, didn't come to work etc. Not really professional but ok she did apologise. Then it only got worse. Pizza was avarage but edible, however parmiggiana pinsa was soeked in smelly oil and lacking in flavour.We politely let know the waitress (unless she's a manager) that this dish is not nice. I Know it's hard to receive constructive feedback but that is the part of working in hospitality. Good chefs and waitresses appreciate all positive and negative feedback. The outcome of this was unacceptable. She was raising her voice and aggressively arguing with us in polish. Arrogantly asking if we even been to Italy? That this is how it suppose to taste. SHe vulgarly said: " I can't wide open my legs to make you happy!". We have never had anyone talking to us like this. What kind of language is that... Simple-"So sorry to hear you didn't like it, next time we will do our best to improve your experience ." The minimum you can do to make you customer service at least nice. Extremely negative energy. When we said her customer service is not good, she said that from the beginning we were not happy with picking a table and complaining 😄🤔No idea what was that about? We just asked to sit ourltside that's it. She was so busy with few tables and so frustrated that she forgot how to speak nicely to another human being. At the end ironically said "Make sure you leave a review!" And thrown aggressively the terminal on our table for us to pay....Never seen anything like this and travel around the world and eat in all different places. I Will hope you will find more light and positivity in your heart💓Treat others how you want to be treated.

The very best Spaghetti Marinara I've ever got.

Food was fine, everything else wasn’t. Let’s start with the service—slow, forgetful, and chaotic (I think we had 4 different servers?) Also, one server dropped a marinara covered mussel on my partners freshly dry-cleaned beige linen pants, leaving a ghastly stain. Then, they charged £3.50 for extra bread when they only gave 2 measly slices for our pot of mussels—is nickel-and-diming customers really the way to win over hearts? And then let’s talk about the bathrooms. Oh wait, I meant bathroom, because there is only one bathroom for the whole restaurant, which means that you have to wait in line to use it, and one can only imagine the state it was in after a long evening. Overall, very slow and incompetent service and a bathroom horror show distracted from what would otherwise be a perfectly fine 4 star meal.

The worst restaurant ever!!! It's not italian, i ordered carbonara but it was just cream and pasta, also we found a worm in the pasta and the waiter told us it was a seed but it wasn't because it was moving,and we paid a bottle of water 4 pounds, i'm italian and all of this was just an insult to italy.

Once again delicious! We have eaten here a few times over the bank holidays and even in a busy environment staff was attentive and friendly! Food was also very nice! 10/10 for the Pinsa Pollo Rosto.

We got there at 4:45, went in and got told to wait for 15 mins as the chef needed more time, which was fine. When we went back at 5:00 we got told to wait another 15 mins. At 5:15 we went back and got told that we couldn’t go in.

The food here was decent, but the customer service was awful. The first girl who met us when we came in was genuinely quite rude, and the service from that point on was very negligent.

We went in to eat early lunch time. We were seated straight away, but the waiter was a little over attentive. This did put off my fussy teenage daughter who wanted some time to take on the menu. The food was tasty and not badly priced. The drinks. The worst thing was that it was very difficult to cut the crust of the pizza. This may well have t down to the cutlery. All in all I have eaten a lot worse, but quite a few better.

We arrived without booking and was seated immediately. The food was excellent, Spaghetti Carbonara, Fungi Pizza and Children's Spaghetti Bolognaise. Service was great with staff that interacted with our children. The children's meal fed our 2 small children as it was a generous size.

Very authentic Italian restaurant with top notch service. The ambiance of the restaurant is very homely and the authentic Italian food will really back up this appearance. We had the pasta and the pinseria and both were really good. I had never tried a pinseria, but the Italia D.O.C. was amazing. So light and made with very fresh ingredients, this is definitely something I would 100% recommend. It also is a unique restaurant in that they have a home made gelato selection right in the front. The quality of the gelato rivaled our favourite other local gelato Fusciardi's, so be sure to try this when visiting. Don't sleep on this restaurant as I think it is a hidden gem of our little town.

We've ordered tagliatelle with salmon where salmon disappeared from the dish, just pasta woth tomato sauce. service was really poor. On top of it desserts weren't available
