Ghurka in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

This was the second time this year that the Gurkha catered for our party of 18. Another great night with excellent food and speedy service. Terrific value for money also. Many thanks to Davindra and all the staff.

Lovely place to eat. Food was great and the service exemplary ( Dave has a great sense of humour ) . We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and when we stay next year we will be returning. Taste was sensational the spices burst on your tongue, everything was piping hot and it was the best Peshwari Naan I've ever had. Thank you Dave for a great evening.

Possibly the worst curry that we've had anywhere. A group of us visited the Gurkha for Sunday Buffet night at around 20:30. The restaurant was happy to accept our booking but failed to tell us that the buffet dishes were mostly empty with just sauce remaining. The service staff member was lazy & reluctant to replenish the trays which took constant requests. When they were eventually replenished with meagre portions we were not being advised at the table, this meant by the time we realised the food had been taken by other customers. Whilst the sauce tasted ok the meat was not good at all, very dry & very chewy, one couldn't help thinking that this may of been old & re heated, It really wasn't good. We're all curry lovers however none of us enjoyed our visit to the Gurkha & won't be returning.

Since this restaurant has relocated downstairs its become a much pleasanter place to visit, it's clean and bright . We dropped in after having too many drinks elsewhere. It was about 7pm on a Thursday evening so not many people there which made it easy to order. Service was prompt and efficient. The lemon rice and peshwari nan we had were very good, the prawn dish good too but the mixed grill tandoori was a bit tough and chewy. Overall we were quite happy. We paid about £45 for the food and a couple of drinks.

The worst curry I ever had me and a a go worker went there for dinner. The place was empty was first sign possibly not going to be great ordered chicken tikka masala rice garlic Nann chip s brought tomato sauce out with chip and couldn’t dip chips in it because it had a skin on top of sauce where they left the dish in fridge with sauce in. The chicken tikka was awful as if they got a tin of tomato soup and put some chicken with it honestly had better curry’s at weatherspoons at one point the chef came out and his chef white s look like he had been wearing them for weeks stains all over them avoid this place at all costs !!!

This restaurant has moved downstairs from its previous site. The whole place has been given an uplift - it is now clean, modern and very good. The food was delicious - the paneer tikka was as good as anything we have eaten in India. Waiters friendly and helpful.

We ordered a couple of meals to takeaway. We had Saag chicken and Chicken Byriani plus Garlic naan bread. Both dishes tasty and filling although the chicken was dry and slightly overcooked.

Walked in and after about 10 minutes the restaurant was almost empty.. so why on earth did a starter take 1 hour to prepare? Only a small group of us and after complaining about the wait they told us they would be only just be starting our mains soon. All other customers before us had left, while those who arrived after were being brought their dishes, so we felt very forgotten about, especially with no explanation otherwise. Food was average tasting, warm but not hot. When paying the bill we were told we had to pay the price stated on the menu, plus additional VAT which was not mentioned anywhere. A quick visit turned into a long ordeal which completely ruined a family night. Some staff were very argumentative whilst we were complaining. Do not visit under any circumstances.

Situated just past Trago this Indian did a tasty Biryani but the texture was a bit soggy compared to the Ganges in Truro where they do an excellent Biryani. Food prices average but the drinks are expensive as were the condiments and poppadoms Car parking is not easy in Falmouth, big one down by the harbour, pay & display.

Go to Asha mate so so so much better it’s authentic and it’s got a good taste to it, Gurkha was chunky and tasted like it was days old

We ordered take away from Gurkha as it was recommended. Food was extremely fresh and tasty. Husband said it was one of the best curries he had ever tasted!

We visited here for their Sunday buffet after having read lots about it. Was very impressed with the price (£11.99 p/p) and the food (warm, very tasty and quite a lot of choice). Was less impressed with the speed of the waitress and the way the manager spoke to the waiter in front of customers. Nevertheless, we would return based on the food alone.

Had a lovely meal with lots of variety would recommend slightly pricey which took the shine of the experience.

During our 2 weeks in Cornwall, on both Sunday evenings we visited the Gurkha for the buffet, the same as we did in 2018 and the food standard was still high. Staff a little bit slow clearing used plates but that didn’t matter to us

The ' as much as you fancy' Sunday evening buffet was a real treat with the large group (incl. children) I ate with. Plenty of diversity in the range of dishes & constantly replenished with freshly cooked top-ups! Very friendly staff too.

Although we had to wait for some time for our meal, we were glad when it arrived. Food here is excellent, authentic Nepalese food and very delicious. Waiting staff are friendly and owner is helpful.

Unassuming but...This large restaurant is casual and unassuming but don’t let that fool you. The food is “brilliant”! Our saag bhaji was well made and had an interesting ingredient in it that made it outstanding. We discussed it with the chef and he agreed with our finding as to what it was and what made the dish so flavorful and tasty. The bangain bharta was very delicately flavored with cardamom - a first for us. The paneer shashlik was well presented and had great taste although I would have preferred a slightly stronger marinate. The service was quick, friendly with a touch of special attention by the owner. We ended the meal with a hot cup of masala tea which hit the spot. All in all a very satisfying and pleasant dinner. Reminded us of our home-cooking. Give this place a shot - you are bound to enjoy the experience.

Me and my family visited here on our holiday in Cornwall and tried the Gurkha Indian just on the off chance and I wasn’t disappointed little was I knowing I was about eat the best curry of my life,the food was amazing the Gurkha beer was amazing everything was amazing the staff the service all brilliant will be back again before on our next hols here.

Always good and we eat here a lot but we liked our visit to the Sunday all you can eat Buffet a lot.Plenty of choice, even for me who is lactose intolerant. You may have less choice if vegan etc but you would still get a good meal from the selection, and they have gluten free meals and breads too.And going to the buffet cost us less than it usually does to have a meal from the menu. We do not eat a lot and so only went up once for mains although had a starter salad top up, and did not eat the sweets, but still very good value. Great value for big eaters.

In the past we've had decent food here, but we went on 14th December and I'm struggling to think ofa time I've been more disappointed by a restaurant. Stale poppadoms, runny curry (though the flavours were nice), and to be honest the "chef special" King Prawn Muli for £16 is not worth half that. A real rip-off. The owner was lovely and the staqff tried hard, but I think they were run ragged by people ringing in sick etc. They refunded around £20 of the bill, but it was still £80 for a family of 5 to eat food that we could've made better ourselves at home. Sorry to say it, because I have enjoyed this place in the past. I also go to the Asha regularly (across the road). That is definitely my recommendation for Falmouth Indian food.

La Gurkha tiene que ser uno de los mejores restaurantes de Nepal en el país. Al haber cenado allí en numerosas ocasiones la comida es consistentemente bueno. Con una variedad enorme de platos auténticos de Nepal en el menú es difícil decidir qué orden. Un personal amable y atento personal estará encantado de hacer sugerencias. A very nice selection of different curries which tasted great. The staff are friendly and are always eager to please. I have been to the Gurkha about 4 times before and I haven't once not enjoyed it.

La comida era deliciosa pero la mía estaba frío y tuvimos que se envió, y por el tiempo en que llegamos el arroz esperando el plato caliente habían ido frío, pero no nos importó, ya que era climatizada por mi curry muy caliente. no creo que me gustaría molestes volver ya que hay mejores restaurantes alrededor.

Para que nos dieron una pappadum y chapuzón aperitivo, un generoso bhaji cebolla y pollo Tikka entrante, luego un plato principal, un Sag Aloo lado y dos platos de arroz pilau y dos grandes naans entre nosotros. Con una gran variedad de platos y naans principales, hay algo para todo el mundo, con muchas opciones vegetarianas. Nuestra única queja sería el servicio lento, especialmente en lo que era un restaurante muy tranquilo, algunas veces vi un miembro del personal detrás del mostrador hablando con un colega, en vez de asistir a nosotros. Sin embargo, en otras ocasiones hemos visitado, no tenemos experiencia cualquier ese problema.

Have been a few times now. It's not your typical small curry house with cosy areas to sit, instead quite big and open plan, but that can be really useful if you are in a group. Good food (lovely a la carte or there are cheaper options on buffet nights) and helpful, friendly service. I'm sure we'll go again.

This restaurant was recommended by our guest house. The food was exceptional, obviously fresh ingredients very well cooked. It was good to see the restaurant was busy but that this did not impact on food quality. We are looking forward to returning again when next in Falmouth.

Coming from the midlands and being used to high class Baltis' this was a different experience - a delight for our taste buds. All the group said this was the best meal out we had for ages. Worth waiting for on a very busy Saturday night. Would definitely come again.

Don't know why we have not wrote review before we have been here many time's and never been let down, the staff are always very friendly and look after you so well not only when you eat in but when you get a take away too.
