I came to astbury mere with my partner for the first time, we had a lovely walk, and discovered this lovely little café, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The icecream was delicious. Thank you

We always enjoy a walk at Astbury Mere, be it 3 laps round the lake or further afield along the canal. This is always enhanced by a visit to our favourite coffee hub GG’s ! We always receive a friendly welcome and enjoy a variety of drinks and snacks to fuel our walks. The coffee is really tasty. 😋 Thanks Shelley, Gabby and all of the staff ☕️👍💕

Went for a lovely walk round Astbury Mere and decided to stop off here afterwards for a coffee and a slice of cake. Firstly, the member of staff working were extremely lovely and very helpful as I couldn’t decide which came to get. Secondly, the cake and the coffee was out of this world and I will be coming back in a weekly basis because of it. Very lucky to have found such a small gem like this place. Thank you very much😊.

Most certainly will be returning! I visited GG’s on Saturday morning (2nd sept 2023) for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised about the amount of choice they had for intolerances. As a small cafe they offer 3 alternative milks which is great, I was spoilt for choice! The staff were very helpful in elaborating what milk alternatives they did, and made me feel like I was a returning regular rather than a first time customer. I am however, a little confused by some of the negative reviews on here. I say, if you’re reading them don’t let that put you off as my experience was nothing but pleasant and I will be returning! Price was around average, and the walk around the lake was lovely too.

We love G G's cafe. The staff are all so friendly, the coffee is great, (although I could do with a bigger cup now and then), and they do some nice snacks. I have never had occasion to think that the staff were less than very friendly. They always have time for a little chat, a bit of friendly banter, and have I said that the coffee is great. The only thing that I would say, is that for me the opening hours could be a little longer. Maybe open at 9am every day, and close at 5pm every day. We love bringing our dog to Astbury Mere and a visit to G G's is essential. Keep up the great work girls, and see you later in the week.

Fantastic is the only word I can use. Despite the glum weather, I met up with a friend at GG’s and the staff were so accommodating. I’m a fussy eater and drinker and both the women working went out of their way to help. Would highly recommend an oat milk hot chocolate from GG’s.

Cannot recommend here enough. This really is the cutest, friendliest little coffee place ever! In the most perfect location for a drink and food after a gorgeous walk around the mere. My two little boys are always asking to go and visit, whether it be for ice cream or one of GG’s gorgeous hot chocolates, they have something to suit whatever the weather. They always serve with a smile and are so welcoming. One of my favourite places to visit!! Thank you all for such amazing service see you soon!! Xx

Location - this has it in spades What a shame that this little cafe is so poor. Always running out of something or other and they don’t have a lot to offer ! No wonder the people who work here hate it so much. They must feel ashamed/embarrassed. It could be a wonderful asset, a little gem of a place - if it was better managed

I came today with my friend and our babies who are 11 months old. We had a packet of baby crisps and some cucumber with us for the babies and we were going to order food and drink for ourselves from the cafe. When my friend went in to order, she was told that we could not sit outside the cafe because we had brought our own food. She explained that the snacks were for the babies and we were ordering for ourselves but we were still told we were not allowed to sit there! We decided to leave without ordering anything! I understand that you don’t want the cafe used as a picnic area but to tell us we are not allowed to sit outside the cafe because our babies are eating a bit of cucumber whilst sitting in their pushchairs is just ridiculous!

A group of us visited Asbury park today with our children, all under 3, and it was getting time for lunch so we went to gg's which looked lovely, I went inside and ordered a toastie and asked if the children (some had allergies and sensory disorders) if they could eat their own food, I was told in an abrupt manner "no, there are signs outside telling you not to eat food brought from elsewhere" I hadn't seen these signs so I apologised and she said there were tables over the other side where we could eat. No problem, I went outside and we moved over to the other tables and the children started to eat their lunch, however it was extremely hot and not wanting to disturb the children's lunch a second time, we took an umbrella from one of the 5 unused tables and placed it at the table where the children were eating, this was great, the children were enjoying their lunch in the shade and a young lady brought my toastie out to me at the table, my friend then went in the shop and ordered some drinks and something to eat for herself, after returning the lady that abruptly spoke to me came charging across, clearly after an argument, shouting "is that my umbrella?" That's when an argument broke out. The argument was finally resolved but there was no need for it in the first place, I get that you can't eat your own food on the premises, but it was very hot, we didn't want the children's sitting in the hot sun eating their lunch, we had ordered food and drinks so to be begrudged and umbrella for the children's safety, that no one else was using was disgusting, the lady in question should be ashamed of hetself, she was very rude and made herself look stupid. The only saving grace was that the food was delicious and we did get to keep the umbrella while the children ate their lunch and we put it back after we'd finished as promised. It really is a lovely little place, it's just a shame about the staff, nobody deserves to be spoken to like that and it did put a dampner on our day out.

Hello M Lewis and CO /GG I’ve struggled to find a email to send privately . I deliberately go out of my way to support you and today was no different I arrived today after a long walk with my dog and it was incredibly wet . As normal I ordered toast for the dog and a drink for me . Today there was absolutely nobody in the car park or queue so I stood under your gazebo to keep dry and feed the dog 5 mins max but then one of your team came out & asked to move so to keep the flow which I totally understand in the safety of Covid times but commence was missing . please take my review as a positive as on the whole the team are great kind regards. The yonger staff were great, the older lady was so miserable when serving us and we weren't the only ones to notice. Even knocking on the window to tell children to stop running and being rather aggressive. You're in a country park for goodness sake! No excuse! There were no other people around, no queue, no one they were getting within 2m of and we'd JUST been to buy plenty of stuff from her cafe. We will NOT be going back. If you want the children to stop, tell me DO NOT tell a 4 year old off! Uncalled for, unprofessional and damn right rude! Looking at previous reviews we're not the only ones to say so, maybe a change in career is needed! I'm so angry!

My husband and I paid a visit to the coffee hub on the 6th feb. Although it was 4pm I asked if they were still open as there was no one in. She said they were, so we ordered 2 coffees. The place was very pleasant and lovely and clean despite it being open all day. Coffee was Really good too. Other than replying to my question asking what time they closed, they were the only words she spoke. She didn’t even smile and when we left we both thanked her and said bye but she hadn’t even the curtesy to say goodbye. I know we don’t visit often but it was certainly off putting. Pleasantries go a long way.

Good afternoon, I am writing this on behalf of my grandmother who is a regular at GG’s Coffee Hub. My grandma and grandpa enjoy coming in every week to the coffee hub to sit in the lovely surroundings and reward themselves with a coffee after a lap around the lake. They often come home and tell us about the cheery and welcoming girls in the coffee hub and what entertainment they provided that day - my grandparents say it is an on going joke that the two young girls always give them something to laugh about and make them feel very welcome as if it was family welcoming family. I am however a little concerned that they came home after a visit on Wednesday with a negative experience, not towards the business but more towards the member of staff on shift. Unlike the normal employees they have towards the end of the week/weekend the lady on shift was very rude and unwelcoming towards my grandparents and made them feel more of a hindrance than paying customers. It seemed, according to them, all the lady cared about was drinking her own drink and replying to a message on her phone. The conversation was very minimal and felt as if they were trying to be made just to hurry up and finish. Understandably my grandparents left quite deflated which is something no-one wants to see especially their family. They didn’t want to make a complaint about their trip as they love GG’s and will continue to return, however in future they said they will stick to the days when they know the staff that make them feel welcome are working. I want to just reiterate again, that this is nothing against the company my grandparents can not praise GG’s enough, but when my grandparents come home deflated because of and the customer service received from an employee somewhere you can imagine I had to say something about it. One last thing, if you are thinking of going to GG’s my grandma suggests one of the delicious tea cakes and a flat white!

Called at Astbury to exercise young 'Archer' - 6 month-old bundle of energy and youthful manners. Pleased to find a specific enclosed area for young pups. Great for getting them to learn doggie and human manners. Well maintained paths and newly introduced doggie etiquette rules. On balance, these are good as bouncy dogs and little people can be incompatible. Also found the little Gem of CG's. Clean - friendly - superb service and , dare I say, even better coffee than at a well-known US coffee chain ( is it Stellar Young Male Deer, or something like that ?). Excellent prices too. All in all a great couple of hours, and friendly dog-walkers too.

We held a joint 60/80 party here and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff are brilliant and extremely helpful from all correspondence to the night. We had about 30 ppl for a small do and they were brilliant letting us come earlier even though half of our party did end up staying to the late! The food was exceptional the steak ale pie was devine and had our guests talking about it for weeks after! Compliments to the chef! Lovely party area, when decorated with balloons and banners it was a really good atmosphere, the bar were happy to play music on Spotify all night. Really spacious and just a really lovely evening. Great hospitality. Deffo worth considering for a function.

We used to live in Weaverham and often walked to the Riverside for a drink or food. They used to do 2 main courses for £10 which was good values for money. I know those days are now gone but after our recent visit I don’t think we will be returning. We booked a table for Sunday lunch for 4 people. We ordered drinks which came promptly and then ordered our food. We only ordered 4 mains, fish and chips, sea bass and 2 x steak and ale pies. We waited over an hour for our food, others who arrived after us received their food so we asked how long ours was going to take and were told they were just plating up. 10 minutes later we finally received our food. The fish and chips did look lovely and was a healthy portion size, the pies were well filled but mash potato was a bit on the small side. The main issue was the sea bass. There were 2 small fillets with a few crushed potatoes underneath, a spoonful of frozen peas, 2 green beans and 5 mange tout. Now for £17.95 I expected more. I’m not a big eater or a quick eater but I finished my meal first, and I knew I wouldn’t be full for long. How much do vegetables cost? Surely some carrots and tender stem broccoli wouldn’t break the budget? I did mention this and I was not charged for my alcohol free G&T, but I couldn’t wait to get home and have something to eat, disappointing.
