Update... UNDER NEW OWNERS. ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON. HAD SAVOURY AND CHIPS, ROLL AND COKE. MASSIVE PORTION OF CHIPS AND FRESHLY COOKED. LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS. PLEASE GIVE THE CHIP SHOP ANOTHER GO. LOVELY OWNER. IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH ANYTHING, JUST LET HIM KNOW, INSTEAD OF PLASTERING IT ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA. Had saveloy and chips. Saveloy tasted like previous day. absolutely vile. Chips are sometimes ok but mostly bad. Will never eat their again.

Use to be one of the best chippy's about! Things has gone down hill and even needs to modernise!. Chip shop doesn't even have a Website with online menu.

Just been to so called best chippy 9 / 5/ 2024 For service and the old guy behind the screen couldn't fault However the batter is still floating in its own grease I had to stop eating the fish it had a funny smell and taste chips anemic and out of the portion I only got 8 full chips worth eating Very disappointed as it was recommended

This is a tough one the guy and his family are absolutely amazing. The chips ain't bad but the sausage in batter has a strange after taste. I've tried it 3 times and it's the same. I don't know if it's the seasoning inside the sausage or maybe it's not pork? I have no clue but I think they need to change where they get their stock from. I'd be happy to pay more for better quality. That sausage isn't right. Sorry

If I could give the food no stars I would. Firstly like to start out by saying the staff were friendly and there was nothing wrong with the service. The food was absolutely disgusting!!!!!! The fish was like nothing I’ve had before. It was so chewy and tasteless, it was absolutely revolting, it’s like it’s been in the freezer for two years and they took it out and over cooked it for another two years. My god it was like eating a well done steak. The batter was tasteless and didn’t serve much purpose. The chips were so thin, almost empty and just disgusting. I’ve never been so disappointed by a fish and chips. My dads and mums was exactly the same so absolutely no idea what was going on. We all have good poisoning today and are very unwell. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Called in yesterday and collected Haddock and chips, it was horrible! The chips were hard and chewy, the fish was the same, absolutely disgusting, I had to throw the whole lot into the bin. Such a shame, after a hard day’s work I was really looking forward to a nice meal, no chance! I’ve eaten fish and chips from various places across the country, but I’ve never had anything as bad as this.

Really nice and friendly man, got home and opened the food and instantly threw it away, dodgy smell and looked awful

Picked up a takeaway. The chips tasted awful. New potato chips are a treat usually. These tasted rancid. Not even to be masked by the extremely poor quality curry sauce. Fish was a good size. The service was friendly and quick. Will not eat from there again.

Never had a bad meal and can’t beat the value due to very generous portions. Always my go to chippy.

I thought it was a little expensive, but it was warm and tasty.

Used this chip shop for our sit down meal at our wedding renewal on 8/7/23, they catered for 66 guests and the food was absolutely amazing and piping hot, highly recommend, can not thank the owner and staff enough 😁

Been using this chip shop for 20 year what a nice fella

Absolutely horrid, I’ve never had something so disgusting in my life , there was hair in my food, my kebab was raw and the chips was undercooked and looked to have mould on them, It was absolutely revolting, they was rude and snappy and tried to charge me extra. I would not recommend.

George's plaice or George's little box of horrors should I say my chips were a frightening pale and my savaloi came without skin absolutely unacceptable service.

I have been poisoned by this takeaway! I fancied fish and chips after a long day at work. I thought they whipped it up quick but was so hungry I got home and tucked in. I thought it didn’t seem fresh chips hard and fish soggy. I couldn’t eat it all less than half because it wasn’t quite right. Guess who wakes up with severe sickness and the rest. Really, really poorly. Second day off work now and still can’t hold food down and extremely weak. No one else should go through this. This was my favourite chip shop as a kid and I will never ever go back.

Absolutely the most shocking fish and chips place I’ve ever eaten at. Woman behind the till told us the fish hadn’t been there long but when we got home, it clearly had been there quite a while as the batter was stale and the fish was gross. The whole meal felt like cardboard and was tasteless. If I could give it less than 1 star, I would. The price was absolutely ridiculous too!

This takeaway was recommended by a friend, so we ordered plaice and chips as it reminded me of my youth. Doesn't seem to be available in Manchester. It was delicious and well worth the money. Great for sharing.

It's been quite a while since I last was able to get some fish and chips. It's down the road and never disappoints.

Very poor fish old must have been cooked before opening chips cooked in old fat . Advise you not to go there

Best fish & chip shop in Rainham, Tony and staff is always happy and the service is brilliant, and so are the portions.

Good food, always polite. Big car park right next door for easy drop-ins.

We stopped buying fish and chips here as always ended up throwing the chips away. ,gave it another try last week. And the chips were lovely. Sadly though although the fish was freshly cooked. The batter was thick and hard probably over cooked when batter was removed ended up with a tiny portion of fish. Such a shame

Friendly service, excellent quality food

I always order haddock and I am happy to wait for it to be cooked knowing it is fresh. Chips are plentiful and proper chips. I look forward to my weekly treat.

My favourite chippy, not least because the owner who is always ready with a smile and a chat. Can't fault the fish and chips either.

Good old fashioned chippy complete with retro till thats been in use since time began and British Potato Council posters. Food is good, chips can be a bit hit and miss, dependant on the time you get there but other than that cant complain!

Chips are vile, My son bought Chips and they are tough to bite into.

This is the local chip shop but whatever time of day we visit, the fish and chips or even pies always seem to have been cooked earlier that day and now old or cooked the day before. they are not freshly cooked. The owner is really lovely but he needs to understand that people will come back more often if the food is fresh, this is not the case here after using this chip shop for over 15 years, nothing has improved, hence why we are not regular customer but only use if we are now desperate. need to up the game George.

Basic fish and chip shop that has been here for years

Always great service and great food, paying into the same antique till as when I was a boy! Some things never change, and shouldn't, either. Fish and chips like it should be.

Used for 1st time last night. Massive portion of lovely real chips. Nice sausage in batter and chicken nuggets. Very good price for big portion and lovely taste. Very friendly mature lady working behind the counter. Like a trip back in time.

Cracking food and brilliant service

Used it last year hated it, can't cook fish to save his life. My partner just gone and brought some more fish and chips ... well no improvement chips were passable but the fish was so dry it was disappointing . Avoid if I was you.

Bloke that owns it is a top bloke, staff are always smiling and pleased to see you and prices are reasonable and never a long wait. They also do a turkey stick which I highly recommend it's cubes of turkey, slices of onion wrapped in batter and deep fried.

We always grab some chips from here while the kids are playing in the park, the staff are friendly and the portion sizes are decent. The prices have gone up lately but still not bad for a local chippy, they aren’t too tight on salt and vinegar either xx

George's Plaice is our local Fish and Chip Shop and we have been using it for several years. No complaints.

Great fish and chips. The chips are best I've tasted for years. Regular customer now as whole family love them. Worth the drive I make to go there. Highly recommended.

This is the best fish and chips take away in Medway by far. Always cooked fresh and the chips are always traditional fat chips, fried to perfection and wrapped in paper like the good old days. I will never go anywhere else fI r fish and chips.

Was my favourite chip shop till they put their prices up.

A plaice with a very punny title, and very nice food, decent location with very little taffic when I went and the nicest service I've had at a chip shop for a long while, and a mechanical cash register to top it all of. The shop feels cosy and the service was very pleasant, polite a quick, I only wish there tables set up so I could eat in there.

Gorgeous fish and chips and lovely staff

It's by no means the best chippy in the towns but is my nearest and Tony and the staff are nice. The chips do tend to be on the hard side.

Only gave one star as you cannot give zero the young girls that are working here..... terrible.... service,... terrible..... food...,, greasy and terrible.... used to be a good place what happened on last 7 occasions..... terrible.... just coz up the road from me and used to be good kept giving it a chance no more, disgusting!!!
