A fun place to watch sport. Although the girl serving through the window hatch last Saturday was terrible. Very slow at making basic drinks. She was quite happy to walk away and have a chit chat whilst the line was very large. Once drinks were made she wouldnt even push them close so i had to reach right into the hatch. Maybe she just had an off day but really not a nice experience.

Attention, the two girls at the bar are terrible, terrible customer service. Live your experience, come in and get to know the place a little but it is really neglected, the ladies' toilets are dirty and flooded. It's interesting to see but once you give it a quick visit, escape from there and go to the restaurant in front, they have without a doubt better service.

I didn’t eat here, but the pub itself is fantastic, steeped in history with plenty to read about. It’s a great little stopping point on a day out, though I was a bit let down by the Guinness – served in a regular, cloudy pint glass rather than a proper Guinness glass. At over £6, I expected better.

Never really experienced such poor etiquette and manners in my life was sworn at by the staff who then accused me of being rude. Several witnesses came up to me after and were disgusted. I simply said I’m very sorry but I’ve been waiting a while after being actively ignored and having someone who literally arrived at the bar served in front me. Pointing this out being a cardinal sin just basic bar etiquette ignored.

Went there for a pint with my boyfriend. As we were about to leave he just wanted to use the toilet. He didn’t realise he went inside of the ladies until the staff member reminded him he’s in the wrong place for which he felt sorry and apologised. As he reached me back at our table, two security guys accompanied by the manager approached us „reminding” my boyfriend that he used the wrong the toilet AGAIN. AGAIN, he apologised quite embarrassed at this point having to do this once again as he honestly didn’t have any bad intention. From there they followed us all the way to the exit saying nothing, which caught the attention of everyone inside. This was very unnecessary and made us feel like we both did something really bad and that was extremely uncomfortable. I will never go there again. Mistakes like this happen in every pub - there’s no need make your customer feel like criminals.

Fine, we ignored the server attitude and took on the desportive way, we also work in hospitality and know how much it can suck. The issue came after 10min of getting our drinks, another member (beard guy, to "punk" to be hospitable) came with plastic cups shouting at every one to leave the premises as they had to work the next day. I wonder why we were served in the first place, anyway get your timings right so your own staff is not frustrated and customer don't get the hit for it or hire people that actually needs to work and actually mind their attitudes at work. Not enjoyable at all.

Place to escape!!! We stayed 5 days in London and many other places are worth the detour! The toilets are very dirty, the tables stick, are not cleared, the service is neglected. We were happy to come here but what a disappointment. We had reservations for dinner but having arrived early, we ordered several things at the bar, the waitress was very unfriendly, did not look at the customers and responded very curtly. Once arrived at the table what a disappointment we had ordered from the bar starters and dishes we had everything at the same time thrown on the table was cold and really not good. We had time to visit many other pubs in London and believe me many others are worth the detour!

The pub has a charming atmosphere with rustic decor, making it a great spot for drinks and socializing. The drink selection is good, offering local ales and craft cocktails. However, the food didn't meet my expectations. While they serve classic pub fare like fish and chips, the preparation was lacking—my fish was overcooked and the chips could have been crispier. I have been to this pub many times to drink and have also eaten in the bar area a few times; its always been great. So I booked this venue as a special treat for my partner on Christmas Day. The pre-booked Xmas lunch cost £69 per person. On arrival, I was told we were to eat in the Gallery Restaurant (nice, I thought). When we walked in there were several tables free but we were told we had been allocated the small (usually spare) table for two, opposite the door. When I asked if we could have one of the other two free tables we were told by a very unfriendly manageress that they were booked and we could not be moved. We had an ok meal, but got cold every time the door opened, as did our food. And on one occasion, when the door was left open by a customer, i was going to close it my self but the manageress passed by so i politely asked her to close it. The response i received was something like "but a customer left it open!". Worth also noting that one of the tables we initially requested was never used... All in all, considering the cost and the occasion, a very disappointing experience.

Love this pub but last night was a real disappointment. We’d booked a table upstairs for dinner at 7. I realise there are seasonal staff at this time of year but they still need training! Everything felt like an effort and attitude was poor. 4 meals arrived and had been left under a heat lamp for too long. Waitress then needed to ask what the other 2 orders were, these arrived 15 minutes later. Food was average at best, drinks orders failed to arrive without reminders, this despite there only being a handful of diners upstairs. The evening was complete when we were told that the kitchen was closing (at 9.30) and we needed to pay and leave! Won’t be returning to eat!

A very strange experience. Six professional managers booked a table well in advance for an annual reunion dinner. We ordered two pints of the house beer and four pints of TT Landlord. The waitress got the the order wrong and brought us four pints of house bitter and two of TT Landlord. We politely pointed out the mistake but she seemed very stressed, so we told her not to worry, we would drink it anyway. She made a complaint to her manager without saying anything to us and he told us we would not be served our food order. So it's fine provided the waitress doesn't get your order wrong and then complain when you very politely say it isn't right but don't worry. We have no idea what upset her and offered to apologise for whatever it was but she wasn't interested. We went over the road to the Italian restaurant where we received great service, good food and excellent wine.

This is a really cool spot with a lot of different dining options as bars galleries etc. it’s also one of the only places in London where you can get a Christmas lunch without prebooking. If the venue wasn’t as great I would deduct more stars. The Christmas lunch was sold out at 4pm on a Sunday and the staff was extremely rude. They would ignore us and not tell us where our food reservation actually was (again there were least 5 different options and it didn’t clarify when booking online which was also frustrating while booking) and when we then arrived 15 min late to the actual table because staff was so unfriendly and didn’t help us, they had given away our table. We then complained and got one but only for 1.5 hours. They also didn’t clearly state or tell us when leading us to the table that it is bar service

Here is the review I sent to the owners email: I read all your reviews prior to my visit last night. I am in the UK often and was apprehensive about the quality of this meal based on the reviews, but I was committed with a reservation and at Christmas doubted I could get in anywhere else. We had reservations in The Gallery. The service was better than I expected by the reviews, I understand why many complain about slow service as there was only one person working that entire space. However, for us, Lucy (server) was the HIGHLIGHT of the visit. She was truly wonderful. Now the food. The fish was great. Huge portion and great quality. The chips were moderate at best. The steak and ale pie however was horrid! I sent it back and exchange it for fish. The side of gravy was cold. Totally cold. The bottom of the metal container was warm, so it was clearly poured into that container and sat on a hot plate but was not allowed to heat or even stirred to get heat it up. Even if it was warm the flavor was way off and not at all tasty like most gravy I have had from London to Edinburgh. The pie was even worse! It was SO HOT you couldn’t take a bit and the crust was off. With further inspection it was CLEAR the pie had been reheated in a microwave (hence the HIGH heat and funky crust). This would make any British grandmother turn over in her grave! The meat was all fat and chewy – no edible pieces of steak. It was truly THE WORST pie I have ever had, and I am a steak and ale pie queen. This was parents first (and likely only) trip to the UK and I am ashamed THIS was their experience of pub grub. I know most of the pubs in London are owned by your group at this point – unlike some of the lovely small pubs in the Cotswold’s or other places – but this was truly unacceptable. I will post this on Google as people need to understand the experience at your institution. Perhaps come for a drink and the history but I would never EVER EVER recommend anyone eat here. Do better. Strive to create food you would want your family to eat.

I had a reservation at 2:45 PM, specifically to try their Sunday roast, which they advertise prominently. However, when we arrived, only the beef Sunday roast was still available—out of what was supposed to be four options. My friend, who is vegetarian, was left without the vegetarian roast option, and even the vegan burger wasn’t available. To top it off, their special (turkey) was also unavailable. I found it surprising and disappointing that they had run out of so many items by 2:45 PM, which isn’t particularly late for lunch. On top of this, the experience was marred by other issues. Two of the wine glasses we were given had lipstick marks, and another was completely cracked. The service wasn’t great initially, though the staff did warm up as time went on. Still, considering everything else, it was a very underwhelming experience. I’d recommend that the owners clarify in their advertising that their Sunday roasts may run out early, as the table next to us was also frustrated by this (and the servers told us that this is the case every sunday). Unfortunately, since the Sunday roast was the only reason we came (and it was not great at that), we won’t be returning.

Unless your looking to be disappointed don’t bother. Service is absolutely shocking!! After being told to go upstairs as we would have more space/be more comfortable as we had a child with us by a lovely member of staff downstairs we were left waiting for ages. I decided to grab menus myself to speed things up as they were sitting on the side when I was greeted by a member of staff grabbing them from my hand and telling me “nobody told me you were up here, those aren’t even the right menus, just sit down and I’ll be back” bare in mind there was about five other tables of people already up there. Again we waited and waited so went and found someone else for menus to be handed surprise surprise the EXACT same one she told me wasn’t correct. This guy was lovely and laughed when saying we are better to go downstairs to order so he obviously is aware also that the girl has no interest in being there. Food was good and it’s a beautiful venue but service was just a disaster which in my option is the most important part. Hire people that like dealing with the public because that girl was so rude & made us feel like we were putting her out by even being there.

We made reservation for a Sunday night, fully planning our day around what we hoped would be a lovely Sunday roast. First of all I wanted to love and explore the bar area but I made a reservation in the dining room as I wanted dinner and was unsure if we could order a full menu in other rooms. The dining room was small and historic feeling but so removed from the pub and the lively atmosphere. Upon being seated, we were told they were out of ALL the roasts and the turkey dinner. This left basically fish and chips, various burgers, and a steak pie. We got a beer and mulled our options and ultimately left. It was our last night in town and planned specifically for a roast. The rest of the menu just wasn’t very appealing when we planned for something else. Also, having had a booking for a Sunday evening, it would have been nice to be contacted in advance of this. I would love to go back and give this place another chance as it seems like a great spot for a pint.

Absolutely rude at the service window! The lads before us, the girl said she couldn't pour mixer they wanted as her taps weren't working and she suggested vodka and apple juice, which he agreed and tried and suggested that she should probably pour another shot into it before they left as "it was not strong enough". I made the suggestion they should pay for what they ordered and all i wanted was two shots without any mixers. She began to have an attitude and rolled her eyes at what I said, not sure whether she liked the attention she was getting from the lads, I tried to explain that I was trying to help her get the queue moving along. Absolutely disgraced by her behaviour and absolutely not called for. I have worked in the frontline of the service industry, and the disrespect shown to another woman who understands the pressure she was going through was completely ignorant.

Very handy for Borough Market and close to London Bridge this is a rangy Victorian Inn with a very extensive out door area and many pub 'rooms'. Buy drinks and food at the bar, food is delivered to your table, but not drinks. Good vaguely seasonal short menu with pub favourites. I can recommend the steak and ale pie. 100% English pub atmosphere.

This used to be one of our favorite places for beers and roast, but not anymore after yesterday's visit. We came with guests, and the experience was really disappointing. By the time we arrived (around 5 PM), the roast and pie were already sold out, which was understandable given the time. We ordered two servings of the duck hash, a steak, and a burger. After waiting for 50 minutes, the food finally arrived, but it was a letdown. The duck hash was dry and cold, the burger patty was burnt, and the steak was dry and just plain awful. When the waiter came to check if everything was okay, we mentioned the issues with the steak, but he didn’t seem to care. We were very disappointed. If the kitchen cannot function properly, it would be better to close it rather than serve food of such poor quality. I don’t recommend coming here on a Sunday afternoon. I’ve removed this place from my list of favorites.

Waited for half an hour, then they told us all the food was sold out, even though we made a reservation. Also too little seats for our reservation. Never come here to eat

I was captivated by its historic charm as London's last surviving galleried inn. I've added it to my barguide.london site too!

We decided to go there for dinner. I enjoyed the Vitage Cheddar Mac&Cheese plate. The value for money is excellent and the atmosphere on site is relaxed. It is important to choose your seat yourself, then go to the bar to place your order. A bit confusing, and no one welcomed us.

I've just counted up the number of times Google Maps thinks I've visited this pub. It's 148 times (since September 2015 - I've been coming here since about 2008). The current (2025) incarnation is the best. It was pretty good when it was a Fuller's pub, but they closed it. More fool them. It's a good local.

Great local pub and the Sunday roast is highly recommended as is the regular menu. Reasonable prices and lovely homely atmosphere.
