Truly the worst meal with the worst service that I've had - not only in London - but anywhere. The young server tried to be kind and said there was a "mishap" in the kitchen - but it took 40 minutes for a simple lunch to arrive. We both have been treated for nausea and food poisoning. It's a fine old historic place - any maybe this was a "bad day" - but - for your own health - skip the food!

Disappointing in every way. Booked lunch as a Blue Badge Guide for American visitors, looking forward to "authentic 17th century oak beams" etc. Barely an acknowledgement from staff let alone a welcome, they said "You're booked across the courtyard" (this was 1215 on a weekday, so empty). In the conference room atmosphere of the other bar, TVs showing breaking news of latest stabbing - yay! - we were pointed a table in a corner literally facing into a brick wall. The food is all industrial pre-fab, so don't bother asking for a cheese toastie without bechamel gloop. This is such a historical place in a brilliant area, but they seem determined to piss it up the wall. I'll have to warn my colleagues, sorry.

This was really disappointing. Multiple food options weren't available. We then waited for ages and ages to eat. All the food was delivered at different times across the space of an hour and so we were effectively eating one after another. The food itself was average pub standard.

I went to their pub on Saturday for a bite to eat and a pint and it was just bonkers busy. There was a huge crowd of people smoking outside, and the inside was just packed. Somehow we found an open table (that was dirty). I never once saw a server or an employee. My partner went up to the bar to get us drinks and came back about 20min later with only 2 drinks. The place was SO LOUD, we stayed only a bit till we finished our drinks and then we left and my ears were ringing all night.

Huge pub in the in the London Bridge area next to the Borough market. From the street entrance you walk through and then you see the huge courtyard with tons of seating. Then there are bunch of indoor areas spread all over. We sat on the upstairs patio overlooking the courtyard, it was really nice. Order at the bar and then food will get to your table. I tried the George Inn Ale as well as the Timothy Taylors Ale. For food we tried the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The ales were great, the dessert was ok. It is nice to have a view of the Shard and the vibes of this establishment was really nice. Would come here again!

Really cool place to visit and maybe get a beer. Lots of history. The uniqueness ended there. Ordered the Devon crab starter and it took over 30 mins to arrive. The paté (?) was room temp (which is fine) and it came with toast/bread. It took them over 30 mins to warm/toast and butter the bread. When I first got my meal, there was mold in the paté! Caught the wait staff as he came back out. He didn't believe me at first but the replacement was quick. I'd say I'm not thrilled with the service and food but maybe your experience will be better.

Great location ad lovely historic pub. We went in on a Sunday and saw some roasts being brought out and they look very nice and large. We decided we would also have a roast and I wish we hadn't. Ordered the Nut roast wellington and the waitress who was lovely even said they are really big. The roast arrived and my nit roast wellington was a very small slice about 3 inches long and under an inch high. It came with a very small pot of gravy that was less than a third full, so I asked straight away if I could have some more gravy. It was not the rich gravy as advertised. The roast spuds were frozen ones and not the fluffy roast potatoes it says on the menu, Yorkshire pud was cold and to be honest not a great meal . The gravy eventually came up long after I had eaten the meal! The price was not cheap and felt not great value. they then added a service charge which I refused to pay.

What an amazing landmark of a pub. Plenty of rooms to sit and enjoy. A great selection of real ales too. But…. The roast dinners are far from perfect at £16.95 a head. I had the roast beef, the beef was like shoe leather and inedible. The Yorkshire puddings were also great to look at but to dry and the roast potatoes looked like anaemic frozen ones? My wife had the roast pork which was served as a large cube of meat half soft fat and the other half meat, but that was well cooked and very tasty( I’m aware that pork in general is fatty but this was very noticeable. So in summary. A fantastic historic pub with good beers, but poor roast lunch which is such a shame.

I went as a guest in a group of two couples and I didn’t see the bill but understand it’s not cheap. It wasn’t busy - almost empty - but we were told we couldn’t sit upstairs as we hadn’t booked! I ordered chicken Kiev. After a longish wait, all the meals came at once, which was good, but my chicken was so overdone it wasn’t very nice. Hard to cut through the breadcrumb and very dry. The chips were okay. My fellow guest ordered an Eton Mess which looked so unappealing and contained virtually no fruit. Looked like a smear of blackcurrant jam added to some cream. How you could get something so simple, so wrong! The staff seemed totally disinterested and nobody asked us if we were enjoying our meal. The whole experience was a disappointment.

We were a large table and ate upstairs in the gallery so had table service. The front of house staff were excellent and the service was great all night. The food was mixed in terms of quality and very poor value for money. I had the house burger which was £18.45. The burger was dry, burnt, and overcooked. The burger was a good size but only came with a small bucket of fruits. My partner had the Duck Hash which tasted very nice and was very soft and moist. However it had a bit of plastic in it which was presumably from the plastic packaging the food came in from the off-site production kitchen. My beer glass also had a sharp chip in the top which could have cut my lips.

We had Sunday lunch at the George using a Greene King gift card that was given to us as a wedding present. Lucy was our waitress and provided great service from start to finish; she was friendly, attentive and professional. The George has all the charm of a traditional English pub, with a cosy, Dickensian feel. It’s hard to believe it is right off Borough High St. We both had a roast (1 nut roast, 1 sirloin) and the portions were very generous. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The only potential point for improvement was temperature - the food was warm but not piping hot. Overall, though, we had a great experience and would recommend this spot.

Been meaning to come for some times. Pros; visually very impressive. Love a historic pub. It is a beautiful place steeped in History. Pea soup was actually very pleasant; pick of the three food options we went for Cons; pricy for what it was. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised for quite a touristic place but I thought £4 for a half pint was on the steep side. The other pint I had was not a full pint. I suppose I could have complained about a short measure and got the full measure. Glad I've been but not sure I'd be in a hurry to return. Other historic pubs I've preferred. Service was okay, but not more than that. Not rude but not especially friendly. Didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment.

We waited a little while for our food and when it arrived 1 dish was missing as they had run out of chibatta (which we weren't told about until we asked where the other meal was), I had a burger which somehow was burnt on the top bun but soggy on the bottom, chips were lukewarm and onion rings were very overcooked. The chicken kyev was like cutting rubber and the lettuce was extremely limp. We were so disappointed as it was a lovely venue with great reviews. The staff were very understanding and apologetic and although we offered to pay for our drinks and the mac and cheese(which was nice) they scrapped the whole bill. I'm hoping it was just an off day for the kitchen

Great building with lots of history, good food and drink with pleasant and attentive service. We dined in the Gallery room. Only points of improvement would be some flexibility especially during quieter times, for instance: if someone wants to dine on the terrace 2 feet away from the inside tables I don't see the harm but we were told it would not be table service on the terrace and it was 28° outside also if someone was to order a drink that's available downstairs but not in the small bar upstairs again surely to bring a specific drink upstairs wouldn't be too much trouble. Side order of chips (not bad) arrived with no offer of sauce, vinegar etc. My steak sandwich was virtually inedible. So chewy I had to spit most of it out. No fried onions in it as advertised. Really limp bit of undressed rocket on the side. Son said his was OK so maybe i was unlucky. Mac and cheese and veggie burger were ok. Nice pints. Everything seemed a bit grubby. It was just a bit of a depressing experience eating there. Our local is a Greene King pub and the food there is excellent every time so we hoped for a similar standard. Perhaps this one is relying on its history and location. I never usually leave negative reviews but I hate to see this place not living up to its potential and giving the impression to visitors to London that our standards are low.

Cold beer the way I like it. A welcome upstairs by an adorable “experienced” waitress! Thank you for this moment

Very historic pub. A big tourist attraction, including guided tours which stop off here. A good sized pub to explore with inside and outside seating area suitable for larger groups. An understandable wait to get served when the pub is busy.

Lovely views over the market from the first floor dining room, excellent friendly service, good short menu that’s also good value, wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend to others.

We had a fantastic lunch with plenty of Sunday roast. Our waitress Mimi was lovely and very efficient. Would recommend the sharing roast.

Great local pub, reasonable pricing and good views across Greenland Dock. Unpretentious and a real community space.

Great service and atmosphere - busy but still quiet enough to hold a conversation at a normal volume.
