Never been here before but was taken here for a birthday meal and the food was absolutely amazing, fish was light and fluffy with no Greece whatsoever and just a lovely friendly family environment. I can’t wait to come back here and work my way through the menu. The staff are so fast and efficient and very pleasant and helpful. Wish all pubs whet like this, Think I’ve found a favourite for sure. Thank you to all the staff for the amazing food and great service.

I think its quality amazing barmaids and barmen and also the atmosphere is impeccable plus the events they have on like the quiz every thursday with spotlight entertainment

Nice food, great staff will be going again

You can feed a family of four for £20, and that includes two kids drinks (two beers will bump this to £30 if you're drinking). The meals have vegetables, and they're always done "properly". This makes them cheaper and more nutritious than most options for busy families that don't want to cook for a night. The service is really nice, they're always kind to the kids and they have a collection of toys (naturally, missing a few pieces here and there, but clean) to keep them entertained while waiting for the food. Their beer isn't going to blow you out of the water but standards like speckled hen are on offer and the prices are reasonable. But for families this local is a credit to the community, and has become our default choice for any dinners (and, at the weekend, breakfasts) we don't want to cook.

Never bother leaving reviews, however this place despite visiting regularly was shocking today, ordered and paid for food for me and the family, then afterwards told they had no chips, no tomatoes, just got what we was given, plate of french fries, an absolutely shocking steak chewy and not cooked right, my son couldn’t eat his and left the majority. Garlic bread and cheese was cold and looked like something a 4yr old knocked up! Service was miserable and unfortunately I won’t be visiting here again any time soon! Good job the staff didn’t come to ask if everything was ok! Left most of the food finished a pint and left! Worst steak and meal I’ve had in years! And miserable staff!

Love coming here with our three year old and dog. Good kids menu and everything is really reasonably priced. It’s big inside with various area and super cosy. Great value for money compared to other places in the area!

First and last visit! Scampi was actually quite nice, but the 9 chips that came with it were awful, looked like yesterday's left overs, re fried. Husband had the all day breakfast, again looked like it was reheated from yesterday.

Love coming here every Thursday with my friends, our dogs and my wife to do the pub quiz. Everyone is dead friendly and we always have fun. The beers are well priced and refreshing while the food is cheap and cheerful! I had 1kg of chicken wings in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it! Can definitely recommend! 🍗🍻

Had a Xmas meal, the guy serving us was very attentive, the food was very tasty and good value for money unfortunately it was marred by a group of men getting very lary, swearing and there were threats of violence, they weren't eating but standing near the eating area, I think they should have been moved away from the diners or thrown out. I was with a 70year old lady who was frightened. We ended up cutting our night short, disappointing since it was our Xmas get together.

Staff are friendly and the menu isn't at all bad. But the pub is badly in need of a big refurb. Been going in years and when leather seats are ripped and certain toilets are frequently out of order you know it's overdue money being spent on it. Hint hint brewery put the love in the pub it deserves.

Great food and staff are amazing!

It’s a shame really, used to be a decent place twenty years ago when I first started going in but now it’s just not the same. Feels soulless and every time I go in, it’s as dead as a door nail. The staff aren’t to blame for it, probably the company’s fault. Although the ale I ordered tasted like vinegar, I don’t expect to return.

Been coming in the George for few weeks now after not being here for couple of years. Food menu has changed and is really good. Two meals for £12 on certain days. Can not complain one bit. Bar staff actually have a smile on their faces and make you feel welcome. Quiz nights music pool table live football all a bonus. Dog friendly

New management are doing superb for the pub and the staff are super friendly and helpful 👍

Always had good service when I've visited, can't comment on the food as I've never had it, Atmosphere is ok plenty of TV'S for you to watch if your into sports.

Shanice was our server and made us feel welcome and always made sure we had what we needed and she always has a smile on her face.

Had a burger here and it was absolutely on spot! The service was amazing, nick and shan was talking to us all night long making sure everything was alright for us. Will be coming back again for sure! Thank you very much for a lovely night x

Great pub with good food, 2 for £11.50 on main meals. Good selection of drinks with cask ale. Amazing, friendly and helpful staff. The quiz night with DJ Yin is great fun and should not be missed.

Great for football. Food is cheap and cheerful. Plenty of varied seating and free parking too is helpful.

Well what can I say ... Had limited food you could order and drinks also other people was complaining about same thing. Don't think I will go back there anytime soon . Took my brother who has disability and don't often get to see him and thought because I missed his birthday I took him there sorry I did ! I have responded to the owners message had no reply .

Was eating a sandwich on this bench and guy came out with strange passive aggressive attitude and basically hold us to sling our hook. Could have been more welcoming and kind. I said well we won’t be coming here in our free time. Lost a group of good potential customers because of his general demeanour. Learn to speak to people as human beings mate

Came on Mon this week with my daughter for a meal was very pleased the staff were lovely the food was gorgeous coming back on Sunday this week for the Sunday lunch highly recommend

Disgusting and services was awful. Says it is open till midnight, we turned up at 10:55 and asked for a drink - apparently they stop serving at 11. I tried to explain that we were at the bar way before (there was no queue) and they just turned us away (at 10:55). Clearly couldn’t be arsed serving another drink. Cheers - great night

Wanted a bite to eat, but the local chippy was closed. Turns out I can get a drink and a chippy tea next door at the George. Pint and chips and curry... result.

Went for lunch 3 meals off the menu were not available all gluten free. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere.

Booked a table for a family celebration at 7.30. Went down to the bar to order the meals and was told the kitchen was closed and no food available. Why would you take a booking (4 hours before) then randomly close the kitchen. And then try to blame the customer saying they took too long to decide what to eat! First and last time to (not) eat there.

We just had a lovely lunch here. Nic, our waitress couldn't be more helpful, along with another lady who was also extremely helpful... especially with processing our Groupon Voucher. It was a great deal. But Nic told us that the burger we had just eaten (with 3 toppings and chips) was only £5 on a Wednesday. Great value. This is our 4th visit and we'll be back.👍

Booked a table for a Birthday meal only to get there and signs on the door saying the kitchen is closed. Out of courtesy i would have expected an email or call to let me know this!

Lovely as usual. Visited last week for some food before the cinema. I must say the food is always lovely, piping hot and well presented. Whenever I notice it’s the chef that’s been working there for a few years now since I started going in I know it’s going to be nice and quick! The pub itself also looked lovely, was nice flowers decorated everywhere for spring and it looked really bright.

Need staff training,meant to be a Sports Pub and advertises live football then don't bother putting the sound on the TV and play loud dance music over it instead! Pretty basic stuff really! Need new landlord to sort this place out asap

In to watch match but no sound on TV and playing music over commentary instead,a few people asked for commentary to be put on but it was not done and the music wasn't turned off. No wonder so many customers don't bother with it now and go elsewhere,not a good pub to watch football in any more

Very reasonable, Dad chose from The seniors menu(good portions and great value), daughter had a build your own burger/chicken combo(mountain of food but ate it all) and I had the best pub matsu curry to date, and I've had a few

Having ordered a seniorseal for myself and my wife we were served our first course reasonably quickly and it was very nice . However after approx 20 minutes I asked when our second course was due and was told " he's doing it now "I asked 10 minutes later to be told the same thing and after a further 10 minutes I asked for my money back as we could not wait any longger to be asked 'did I not want my main course "'The manager returned my money and gave an apology but it was a disappointing visit and although the prices are attractive the serviceleaves a lot to be desired This is not the first time we have had a disappointing visit and although we did write to the company we did notget any reply

We popped in for a quick lunch today and were surprised by how clean and well organised it is now. We had a bad experience here last year so we were apprehensive at best. What a change! The pub is clean and bright and the staff are pleasant and helpfull. The food was amazing and a total 180 from our last vist. We will try again and update this review, but overall what an anazing transformation.

We brought my elderly parents here on a quiet Monday for lunch to take advantage of the seniors offer. The pub was quite busy for 1pm but we still found a nice table. We were served by a nice man who advised us on the offer and how to order, he brought our drinks to our table. The service here is really outstanding for a small pub. The food was generously portioned and delicious. The pub itself is tired and in need of modernization but judging by the amount of people who were in the food and service seems to keep everyone coming back. The food and staff are quite amazing and we have already booked for next week. Thank you.

We came for the cup final and had an amazing experience. Extensive drinks range with 5 shots for £5 and 3 baby Guinness for £5. Carlsberg £3.55! The Sunday roasts were on offer 2 for £11.99 and were huge. The place has been cleaned up and the staff were really helpful. Alot better than it used to be and better than most round here.

Amazing full menu with loads from kids menu to Sunday roasts and burgers. We came here and forgot it was the cup final, it was busy but we still got a table with no wait. Although I was worried for the kids it was a great atmosphere. The food was great for the price and the barman was so helpful. Altogether we had a great time and stayed later than we usually would because of the atmosphere. A great traditional pub for families.

Totally unexpected. This little pub is an amazing gem for family food and a great night out. We came here on a busy Saturday expecting not to get a seat but the staff were amazing and got us a table for 8 and 4 kids in 10 mins. We all ordered food and even though the place was full we still got it all together and in 30 mins. The food was well cheap and for all 12 of us it only cost $85. The staff here are great and even though rushed off their feet they were so helpful. The drinks are Great too. Lots of cocktails! We came back in the night and it was a top night out. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food, great drinks. They show all the football as well. We are making this our regular.

Great Saturday food. Great service. Was told to come here to meet friends for lunch and am glad i did. It was a busy Saturday afternoon with the pub full of family's watching the football and eating. Service was great and although we had to wait 45mins for the food, when it arrived it was without fault. You will not find better value food for the family for miles. Staff are great and unlike the pubs around here seem to love their job and are happy to serve you. The pub is a little dated but the menu and choice of drinks are extensive with something for everyone, i can not recommend this pub enough.

I came to the george today for the first time for some food. The menu is amazing with 2 meals for 11.50 . The pub is nice and spacious and the customer service is the best for miles. Will and Liam looked after us today and we couldn't ask for better. The food was delicious and great portion sizes. Even the toilets were clean and fresh!

First ever visit to this large Greene King pub on a busy crossroads. Very much a TV bar plus a pool table and dart board. Large car park and some outdoor patio seating. Sadly only one of five handpumps available on this Friday afternoon. Luckily the Greene King IPA was on top form. A pint plus a pint of Madri for Casta came to £9.80. Very good pub food menu.

Went into this lovely little pub on the corner of Heaton Chapel as we heard about the quiz night that everyone been talking about and wow! What a fantastic night!! The bar staff shenice and nicky who were working were so lovely bring us our food and drinks, very polite and professional but fun to talk too. Yin the Host of the quiz showed us how to get onto the quiz and was helpful. Very funny with his running commentary. Great host and all round nice guy. and what an amazing quiz. Told us about the karaoke night there as we all Love that and will definitely be back. What a little gem this place is. Recommended. 5 stars
