Spread Eagle in Stockport

Been a few times over past couple of years food always ok .The most recent visit today carvery was the worst I have ever had.Meet full of fat food cold and trays left with scraps of burnt roast potatoes.Had to ask for fresh so that was the only part of the meal with Yorkshire pudding I ate. Told manager as she ask but didn't seem bothered. Won't be going back

Brought my elderly grandparents in here for lunch, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were served by Trish who was attentive to us from the moment we walked through the door. Exactly the type of experience that would take you back to the place!

Lovely meal in the bar area, picked a selection of bar nibbles, beer selection is good and staff are lovely.

I attended the Spread Eagle today with a group of ladies, approx 16 of us. From the minute we walked in we were attended to until we were all seated , drinks and food ordered. We mainly chose the carvery which was excellent but their menu is extensive with a huge variety of food. This is definitely a 5 star business and I can’t wait to go back.

Always a good meal here, usual pub fare with carvery. I would recommend the chicken tikka burger, less of a burger and more of a chicken breast, but absolutely perfect.

My wife and I both had a very nice carvery at the Spread Eagle today, great food, excellent staff, nice atmosphere all at a reasonable price.

I have tried a few places in this area as I visit every tuesday and this is by far the best. I only use the carvery but it highly reccomended by me.

Sunday Rozst early mothers day treat. Lovely because I could decide how big a portion.. everything beautifully presented. Hot and delicious. It was busy but did not affect service. Chinese pork was just mmmmmm!!

Fabulous venue and the carvery is 2nd to non. Always of the highest quality and lots of variety. Lovely hot platesz super pleasant staff. We were served by Cat on 28th Feb 24 who was so friendly and very very helpful. She made the visit really pleasant and we felt valued customers - we will be back. Thank you

Ive visited "the Spread" several times this month for lunch at the carvery and cannot praise the food and the staff enough. The food is excellent and the quality consistenly so. A traditional pub with plenty of parking and in a pretty location and staff that go above and beyond - what is not to like. It is also good value. If there is a down side, it is an uphill walk from the canal which can be a challenge with a mobility scooter. We will be back!

If you want the ultimate place for food, atmosphere and lovely staff then look no further! We go nearly every weekend, we can't get enough of the food, beer and the amazing environment! Thank you for being the best place we could ask for!

First time I had been to the spread eagle for years. The food was delicious, the Service was really good and the atmosphere was welcoming and homely which was relaxing. The only negative was having armchairs at the tables where you eat. If it was just a drink it would have been okay. I felt too low at the table and asked to be moved to a table with upright seating. But we really enjoyed the visit. We shall be coming again.

Plenty of choices on menu, very pleasant and helpful staff and good atmosphere.

Good food , quick service and very friendly staff. Great place to go with family and to take your dogs. Reasonable prices for food and drink. Range of food is great and great selection of lager on tap. Definitely will be returning! Would recommend the carvery for a good selection of meat and veggie options. It's also convenient for regulars that can join the loyalty club for exclusive offers. Lovely atmosphere with music and retro decor.

We had a most enjoyable meal. The Carvery was delicious and our grandson loved the children’s menu. Service from Jess C, Trish and Luke was excellent. Thanks very much!

I am sorry, but the carvery food wasn't that good. The cauliflower cheese was not cooked properly. The turkey meat looked like process meat, and the roast potatoes were like bullets. Sorry, my opinion, but the staff were excellent, very pleasant and helpful The pudding was great

The service was excellent. The food was fresh, hot and came very quickly and served by a very pleasant young lady asking how everything was and if we were happy with the food! How could we not be ! Thank you highly recommend! My partner had the Cod and chips and I had the fish pie both were delicious.

Good choice on carvery, but temperature of food poor, more cold/ just warm. Needs to be hotter. Staff very helpful and approachable. The long room cubihole with what looks a church bench is useless for a group.very little room to move. Once your sat, you stay sat. Better design of the room is needed, otherwise useless.

Lovely staff ..I had a carvery and it wasn't good at all fatty beef very sub par only thing nice was the carrots but I'm not bugs bunny I expected better total spend £57 Shame but I wouldn't go back there

We visit the Almond pubs regularly. Our favourite is The Spread Eagle where we regularly go on a Sunday for the carvery. We’ve been tonight and just wanted to comment on how lovely our waitress, Trish was. She definitely deserves a mention ! She was so attentive and friendly, an asset to the group of pubs. Food was great as was the atmosphere. We live in bramhall but always choose to drive to The Spread Eagle as it’s our favourite Almond Pub for service and food.

We visited on Tuesday while the weather was bad, I thought it would be quiet...it was very busy, which tells you it is highly rated by it's customer's. The service was 2nd to none, the manager tended to our group. On asking for the gluten-free menu, he was very informative. I chose the carvery, and he immediately told me what was not GF but offered freshly made roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. At the carvery selection, the chef also informed me of the GF friendly foods available and informed me my roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese would be brought to my table. The food was lovely, very enjoyable experience knowing I would not have a coeliac reaction due to the staff knowing their menu.

Came here yesterday after a walk, service was great. The place was packed but we were seen to and seated quickly. We got the camembert sharer starter and it was worth every penny. Amazing. For the mains we got the pie of the day (steak and ale) and a red Thai curry with cod (very spicy!). For pudding we each got a hot fudge cake with ice cream. We had an amazing time, only thing was we were sat adjacent to 2 men who were bragging about watching child p*rn which was super weird.

We regularly eat in the other Almond Family pubs, but had never tried Spread Eagle (only because it's a bit further away from us) We tried it today and were met with the same friendly welcome we've come to expect from this group of pubs. Food was excellent, service and atmosphere to match. Little touches like when I asked for a small plate for my toddler so he could share our carvery, and they brought me a little plastic children's plate, goes to show what a thoughtful place this is. Premium carvery too - far superior to any of the big chains by miles!! Would definitely recommend!

Food was excellent as was the service. Even though they were busy the looked after us and made sure we were happy.

I wouldn’t bother here use one of there other pubs as the staff are disgusting and when you make a complaint they think they can just replay and say we are sorry looking in to it then ignore emails and just say we did respond like they have done got staff that think it’s ok to talk to customers like she did all because she was to busy talking and just ignoring customers then end up with cold food by the time she comes over brings empty sauce bottles and then doesn’t like it when asked again then stands there calling you to staff members

Booked a mix of 10 adults and kids in for Christmas Eve, the menu is quite extensive, offer a good varied choice. We had salt 'n pepper chicken starter, outstandingly tasty with a bit of a kick. Went for 'pie of the day' for main and was a delicious meal. Also, spotted the colossal cod and chips across the table, was a huge portion. There were plenty of staff but service was a little slow between starters and mains, we waited about 1 hour 15 mins and had to prompt a couple times. Not going to complain too much as with the time of year and the place was packed out... overall everything was great.

A lovely, clean, warm ,cosy place to meet the family & friends. For that special occasion or to just pop in , have a drink. Food, exceptionally good, choice of menu or carvery. Good selection of drinks.Off road, Parking .

Been here a crazy amount of times in the past 10 years, food never disappoints nor does the service or atmosphere. Carverys are outstanding as is the normal menu and Trish is always a fantastic host! Here's to another 10 years visiting!

If you use this chain of pubs don’t use this one try one of there others we went there today first time wow I wouldn’t bother got served first by a lady called cat took the order then about 5 minutes past or so then someone else come called Phoebe put drinks down said 3 Pepsi max so said no we asked for diet said said it might be let me look come back said yeah about 15 minutes past same person Phoebe come over said go and get your carvery? Now none of us had that so sat a bit longer next thing she come back again said go and get your cottage pie which we never ordered so went up and was told it’s the right thing a veg shepherd pie next thing she brought us two fish over asked did we want Sause said yes mayo red etc she then come back with empty mayo so I shouted her twice by saying excuse me she just ignored me as she was to busy talking by this time the food was going cold so I whistled her as I need two hip replacement so didn’t want to push the table out to get up to go over to her so next thing she walked over I said can we have mayo as this is empty she walked off come back and said next time don’t whistle so I said I did shout you twice she said I was talking I said well don’t bring empty Sause to start with she walked off then after that she kept staring all the time then went to the toilet come out looked back at me then walked over to what looked like a cook stood at the bar she was whispering to him then they both looked round then walked off again just terrible to be honest we use your other pubs which have a lot better staff not once did anyone ask if it was ok so I will not use again

Popped into spend a gift voucher we were given. Had a lovely meal and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Will definitely return

I visit the spread every now and then for food but this particular review is about Christmas Day. The food was great but I have to say the staff and organisation of the day was fantastic. Staff were so lovely and friendly. They were really clearly doing their best to make sure everyone was having the best day. The place was so busy yet the service was perfect and the staff made sure there was never a queue for the carvery. Also, extra touches like a Christmas card and selection boxes for the kids were really nice.

Food decent although quite expensive, the pub was really busy so we waited fir a bit to be seated, then again to be served, soon as the food was eaten plates were cleared and the bill arrived so that felt a bit rushed.

Good service as usual and the food was lovely some had the whale of a fish ! I had the chicken tikka with salad and skinny fries very tasty.

Staff excels above and beyond to help make you feel welcome and needs met. Polite and happy. I can assume the management look after their Staff🙂. The food is as you would expect for a carvery. It tasted great. Definitely recommend.

Cat was very helpful taking the booking and met me on arrival to ensure table was suitable for me and my wheelchair. Saskia serviced the table and was so polite efficient and helpful. All staff great going beyond expectations. Carvery was superb

Veg would stay warmer longer, if containers were kept covered when not in use..

Having a pet dog I did not want to sit near the bar on high stool as per the rules I think its the most uncomfortable place to sit having a meal a very noisy place for pets.

The service was excellent, food perfect and the pigs in blankets were to die for.

It was my first time going here today. Service was on point, the Sunday toast was Great! The atmosphere was busy but not too busy it was a great vibe. Thank you.

We arrived they were very busy but we were happy to wait When we were called to the carvery I wanted beef but could see it was a little under one for me I requested that the chef carve some for me off the other end as that appeared well done he refused so I settled for the ham the vegetables were soggy and overdone the roast potatoes were pale they needed longer in the oven and perhaps basting We ordered deserts I ordered the Apple crumble it was stewed apple with packet crumble neither had been near an oven the custard ok I suppose I have high standards as I have cooked Sunday lunch,s and Christmas dinners for m any years I,m afraid I do expect pubs and restaurants to be able to deliver the same sadly your Pub did not I suppose lots of people who visit your Pub probably don,t cook so with them you will always win but sadly I am not one of them the waiting staff were lovely

Went today for the first time after driving past for years and saying we should go in their, we hadn't booked a table but the staff were very lovely and made us feel welcome , we found a lovely table facing the door where we could people watch and we saw how lovely the staff were to everybody, the food was amazing ,I had chicken pie and it was really nice, not warmed in the microwave, my wife had fish and chips and it was huge and very tasty, just perfect, thank you so much , we will be back for the carvery but we will definitely book a table first , amazing place 😀

Visited at 2pm so just after the main lunch rush, food and service were great. The waiting staff even brought some biscuits from the bar for the dog, a lovely touch. Will be back again!

Staff are fantastic probably the best service I've received in a very long time, very friendly, nice relaxing environment. Carvery is brilliant and I highly recommend the Spread Eagle Amber Ale.

we met as a party of 6 as we was meeting friends from America out round of drinks was about 30 quid a round the staff was pleasant but come 10.30 they wanted to close up it was a Saturday night and there was only a couple of other people in at best I was told this was the pla d to go but after my one and only visit its more like the pla e to avoid

We called in on the off chance that we could get something to eat and take our dogs in with us after a long walk . They were very accommodating and found us a table straight away

The couple who we went with agreed the food could of been hotter, it was ok just needs to be hotter will go again and would recommend.

Dog friendly at certain tables, which was a plus. My son's carvery portion was huge, I had soup of the day, which was a large portion, served with hot crusty bread. Granddaughter had chicken skewers with salad, while her mum had salmon with salad. Again, another huge portion. Staff were friendly, especially Kian, who was really polite and attentive. I'd go again.

10% service charge auto added !! Had the fish pie....was mediocre at best not much fish in it 😆 Far too much mash and cheese but not worthy of complaining Bar Service was really slow but the lady was on her own Table Service was spot on 👍 I always tip if the Service is good but really really dislike these Service charges as I don't know if its being taken by management to supplement there wages too Anyways I won't be returning solely because of the service charge.

Tried the spread Eagle for a family birthday, they were very accommodating for a large party. We had carvery and the food was lovely and nice and hot. Our waitress was Scarlet and she was very polite and professional. I will most certainly be returning.

Amazing service from Tiegan - great carvery, absolutely delicious puds! All in all a great experience.

Went here for a family birthday meal. I can't comment on my food, because l never got any!! We ordered three dishes the same, and only got two! We were told the third was being prioritised in the kitchen, and after everyone else in the party had finished, mines still never arrived! I was informed it would be free, but sorry, l never came to eat alone, and cancelled. Our waitress, to be fair apologised and treated me and my son to a free drink. We complained to the duty manager, who explained the bad service was down to her injuring her finger! She did apologise and gave us a 50% discount on food, which was nice, but the atmosphere and the occasion had been destroyed. Drinks from the bar were also taking between 20 minutes to half an hour to arrive. A truly horrible experience that future potential customers need to be aware of!

I had a carvery here this evening with my friend. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The carvery was delicious. I had turkey and ham. It melted in my mouth. The vegetables were fresh and hot. The parsnips were the best I have tasted. ( I wish I had taken more!). The cabbage, carrots and cauliflower cheese were also hot, fresh and delicious as were the roast potatoes and gravy. There were other veg too. My first visit and I would definitely recommend. Excellent value for money .

Lovely atmosphere , great service and the food was lovely . Reasonably priced . They do add 10% service charge but point this out to you and it’s your choice whether to pay it .

Enjoyed a lovely meal here, exceptional staff in particular Vita who was lovely and a credit to the restaurant. Would recommend the Spread Eagle for a family meal in a homely atmosphere.

On our Silver Wedding anniversary my wife and I went to the SPREAD EAGLE for an Anniversary meal and we weren't disappointed. Great Service, Great Meal and a Great Atmosphere. We could not have picked a better place for our Anniversary meal. We cannot praise the Service, the Meal or the Atmosphere enough. We can highly, highly recommend it. 11 out of 10.

The food is good but the drinks prices are a disgrace a 250ml glass of rose £8.60 2 glasses 250ml glass of white wine £17.00 shot of soda and lemonade over £30 Total bill £156 for 3 people and a 10% service charge added I...

Drinks only this time but we will be heading back for food next time looking at other people's dinner!

Came in on Friday for just some drinks and ended up staying for a meal. The girls made us all feel welcome and were happy to keep the drinks flowing. Food was lovely I especially enjoyed the pie of the day which was chicken and...
