Wow ! One of the most tasty ice creams I have ever taken ! It has different varieties and service is quick and nice . Though it seems small there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy .

In a market where ice cream parlours in Oxford have had prices inflated by airport departure lounge decor and overly complex menus G&D is here to restore sanity and quality. Here the ice cream,waffles and bagels are the stars and damn tasty they are too. It's reassuring to see another generation of students populating the shop, carrying on the tradition. G&D's is as Oxford as the shark and as beloved.

I was on my way to another spot for a quick bite for lunch, another place highly reviewed on this very site, when I stumbled across the legendary G&D's and thought, "Well, clearly my plans have changed." I'm really glad they did. G&D's is a legendary eatery in Oxford, best known for their in-house ice cream, made just downstairs. I had a robust bagel with healthful things and chased it with two scoops of outstanding ice cream...and really, the bagel was good enough on its own to warrant the trip! Service is fast and friendly, and the price is great, considering the location.

Visited today for an ice cream with my family. The ice cream was great but we must have waited over 40mins to be served. It’s half term, the sunniest week so far this year and there is only one person serving in the shop. We saw so many people leave the queue. Disappointed. You really need to employ more staff.

I went to the shop to book an ice cream for one week later. I asked her some questions on the long queue and the arrangement for pick-up, and was not satisfied at her answer. I had not blamed her, she had neither argued against me. But she broke out, turned to the next customer, and then left to the kitchen with tears on face! I didn’t understand what happened to her. I could only leave and go to another shop, and did the booking easily. I had made the same order in the past years at this shop, and I dare not to visit this shop any more.

I love ice cream, I visit this shop often. The ice cream is wonderful, it's homemade, creamy, and fresh. The sorbet is chilly and refreshing. The flavors are creative, inventive and delicious. I've had several different flavors of ice cream, the banana split and the waffle as well, they were all excellent! Great spot for all your cool summertime treat needs, or if your like me, all year round treats! You should stop by and scoop yourself a moment of self care and self indulgence.

Really disappointed milkshake was not very nice at all, very thin and watery almost , treated ourselves and were not impressed and didn’t feel treated at all. What was most disappointing was that they were nearly £5 each.

Such a nice visit to G&D during my stay at Oxford! The homemade ice cream was delicious and creamy and the brownie was the best brownie i’ve ever tasted! My boyfriend had a cookie dough sandwich with Oreo ice cream and we both ate every last bite! The staff were friendly and polite and helped with any questions we had. Restaurant is also very clean! Will be back.

Quality home made ice cream with unique and well chosen flavours. Consistently excellent for over 25 years I have known them. £3.10 for a well filled waffle cone is very well spent. Delicious!

Although this is noted as an ice cream parlour and I must say the ice cream looked amazing I had called in to get a drink and I must say my cup of tea was probably the best I have tasted in Oxford. Next time I am visiting in will definitely come here but maybe I ought to try the ice cream but how do you choose from all the flavours

This place is a lifesaver after stressful days at work. Just perfect for the late night ice cream craving. I wish they had more flavours that were a little less sweet on the menu. Service is always cheerful.

Really loved this hidden gem in Oxford. Worth walking to between Museums for great Ice Cream and home made cookies. Mango Sorbet also a highlight.

George and Davis Ice Cream and Bagels. Now that's a combo I like. Quite a good NY style bagel with a nicely browned crust and soft, slight chewy crumb inside. For those of us who prefer Montreal style, the crust has less noticeable honey from the boil and the crumb is less dense. Still, the salmon was delightfully cream, if not somewhat thin, and the cream cheese was spot on. The BLT bagel was fresh with nice thick bacon. The Brits do dairy very well. Delishly creamy with more subtle flavouring to allow the buttery milk fat flavour through. Oxford Blue (blueberries for the school colour), mango (sweet chunks too) and refreshingly tart strawberry lemonade. Worth a visit, or two, or...

My friends know that I love ice cream more than anything else. This is officially one of my fav places. Good balance of sweetness and texture with creaminess. Must try!

Very good ice cream, although a bit on the expensive side. Would recommend the chocolate sundae, and the takeaway option is ideal if you're in a hurry.

Cannot go wrong with any flavor really! I particularly love the Mango and Green tea. We went back for a second time on the same day and each had 2-3 scoops!

The ice cream is fantastic and constantly changing so you'll always find a flavour you like. The bagels are also to die for if you fancy something savoury. The staff really make an effort to make their customers feel welcome, even late at night (they're open 8am-midnight which is amazing for students staying up to write essays).

We primarily went here for ice cream, and were not disappointed. Ice cream is homemade and top notch. Smooth and flavorful. You can have it different ways, plain, banana split, with brownies or cookies, or with a hot waffle. I got it with a waffle and it was amazing!

We tried 3 different flavours of ice cream between us - the Chocolate and then the Salted Caramel were the favourites. Prices MIGHT seem high but the ice-cream is home-made, full of flavour and served with generous scoops. Go on treat yourself!

This is a very good restaurant worth going to food not too expensive loads and loads and loads of bagels and then the ice cream ice cream is work going back for more than one portion I would highly recommend this restaurant or cafe.

Un fantástico lugar. El personal era maravilloso, el servicio excelente y la comida deliciosa. Mi primera parada en mis últimas vacaciones Reino Unido. Tenía el pastrami, y quedé bastante satisfecho con el tamaño de la porción, y calidad.

As soon as I walked into this place I saw the cookies and knew I wanted to try them straight away. But I also wanted to try their homemade ice-cream so in the end I chose the cookie sandwich and had both.The cookies were as good, no better than they looked and the dime-bar ice-cream was lovely as well.Couldn't eat anything else after, so full, but nice.

Growing up in Oxford this place had a cult following, and is still brilliant. If you fancy a good bagel or ice cream to eat in or take away, then look no further than this friendly, hipster(ish) cafe. The staff are friendly and the food simple and delicious. They also support local and international charities.

At the end of our day trip to Oxford, we stopped here for dessert. The store is on a narrow street lined with cute shops and restaurants. (It's about a ten or fifteen minute walk from here to the train station.) The interior is bright and colorful.We purchased ice cream and sat at an open table. The staff was very friendly. Most of the other customers seemed to be locals. The ice cream wasn’t quite as rich and creamy as I prefer, but it was okay. If in the area again, I’d probably stop by to try other flavors and items on the menu. Also, this seems like a nice place to relax with a book and/or a laptop computer.

George & Davis is a slightly eccentric cafe on Little Clarendon Street, with a limited menu that consists of bagels, ice cream (in many flavours), coffee/soft drinks, and a few other sweet items such as brownies, flapjacks and waffles. So although I have had coffees there before, this was my first proper meal.A salmon/cream cheese bagel was fine; toasted OK, enough filling, though no garnish (unlike the pizza bagels which come with a little side salad). The brownie was warmed for me in the microwave; the coffee was perfectly decent. The bill was a little more than I would have hoped for a fairly basic lunch.The toilet (only one) is kept spotlessly clean, though the blackboard for graffiti is wiped clean too quickly perhaps. I think it would be difficult for wheelchairs, as there's very little space.

G&D's had always been hailed as a local treasure, but surprisingly this was my first visit. I had a waffle (burnt) with Ferrero rocher ice cream that actually tasted of nothing. The ice cream was crumbly, not creamy at all. To finish the "sundae" there was canned whipped cream. All a bit meh.

OMG where to start ..... I came across this little gem a year ago and have fast become a regular here ... Extensive ice cream selection and sweets , many comes to chose from and loads of different combinations to have Clean , friendly and inexpensive and opens very very late Never had a bad visit !!

Had ice cream and coffee at G&D at the weekend and really enjoyed it! I loved the studenty feeling of the place and thought it was very good value. Ice creams were very tasty and so was the coffee! We went there out of the blue but I will definitely go back again!

As always, the ice cream here is absolutely fantastic (I've been coming for over 20 years!). I don't mind waiting in a queue but a couple more members of staff would really speed things up :-)The music was stupidly loud today, which is why I'm not giving the review 5 stars. We could early hear each other talking, which kind of spoiled the visit.

Lovely ice cream and flavours. Shame about the long queue on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Four members of staff. Two serving. One "half cleaning, half talking" the other chap chatting to the girl cleaning and using his ipad. In fairness he's also been on the phone saying how long the queue is.My advise would be focus on service. Serve your customers. Talk when there's no queue. Reckon they'd serve more customers if the chap wasn't distracting everyone else.

If you're expecting a cheap student eatery, then this place lives up to expectations, but really, I'm baffled over the hype surrounding this place. The ice-cream is standard but it's probably what they do best. Do not order the pizza bagels; I have ordered this twice and on both occasions the bagel was cold in the middle.

Stopped here briefly to indulge in some necessary ice cream. An unassuming place with a fun selection of homemade ice creams. Not the cheapest, but delicious and worth it in my opinion. I tried their White Russian flavour, yum :) would have given this place 5* but in all honesty the atmosphere was a bit lacking... We opted to enjoy our ice cream on the go.

Ordered food and tea and coffee for myself and daughter and wasn't till I got home and saw my bank statement that I saw I was charged £4.50 for a cup of coffee! I was chatting at the time of paying so didn't take much notice. My meal deal included fruit but all they had on offer was one old banana so I had no choice but to take it.

Couldn't stand the heat and stop by George & Davis for their lovely handmade ice-cream. One scoop of Oxford Blue costs 2.4 pounds, obviously a better deal than Häagen-Dazs!

It's a perch for shoppers and students and provides good mixed snacks, as well as a fabulous range of icecream.

Ice-cream was very nice. The flavor I tried was vanilla. I think it was the best ice-cream we had during the whole trip. Will recommend it to others.

They do nice ice cream and this is a constant favourite for students. However other things they have are not as good -e.g. their pizza bagels and sandwiches with bagels.

Stopped off here before a meeting at the University. Friendly staff and a great cup of coffee at a reasonable price. Look forward to visiting again.

Having been at the uni for three years, I've had all the tapas in town and El Andalus is the best hands-down.

With three locations across Oxford there is no reason as to why you should miss this! The Bailey's ice cream, with the brownie and whipped cream? DELICIOUS! I have no doubt that anything you order in this shop won't be incredible! Perfect for a 4:00pm sweet tooth fix

Often disappointed by this could be great ice cream place. They have Gluten in most of the ice creams so I have very limited choice of flavours! Why add wheat or barley to ice cream mix?

at first i didn't understand why an ice cream shop can be this famous until i went myself one day. the ice cream there is super super nice. my husband and i both fell in love with the green tea flavoured ice cream. however, green-tea ice cream is not always available.

Been here twice. On the first visit in the heat of summer, the ice cream was a delight. However, on the second instance in October 2015 it was quite a different story. Upon paying, the ice cream fell out of my boyfriend's cone (through fault of the server not pushing it in properly). To combat this problem, the server simply donned himself in rubber gloves and scooped the ice cream off of the counter (where people have placed dirty hands, money, bags etc) and put the ice cream back in his cone. I'll repeat that. He picked the fallen ice cream up with his hands, and put it back in the cone. He saw no problem with this? If this is the standard of hygiene in front of customers, I dread to see how the ice cream is made behind the scenes. Gross!!!

I have recently visited this cafe for the first time despite living down the road all my live. I was taken here and pleasantly surprised. If you are visiting oxford I'd reccomend stopping in here for a light lunch- there is a wide selection of bagels and salads, drinks, and ice creams. Reasonably priced and located directly opposite Christ church. Busy, friendly atmosphere in a clean cafe. Fresh water tap and cup for you to help yourself.

The best coffee in town... I can't imagine to go to work without a coffee from G&D! I often pop in to have take away salad or bagel, the staff are always lovely and the food is nice. Also big plus is that their are open every day until midnight therefore you can always get some food if you are working long shift, studying or wanting a quick snack before going out. And of course... The ice cream... Fantastic!l

I´ve been here twice, the first time the waffle was really dry, the pizza bagel raw, but, they delivered a really good coustumer service.The second time, the waffle was amazing but the customer service sucks.

My family and I stopped off here for an ice-cream in the summer and would definitely recommend - the Baileys and Oreo ice-creams were superb and well worth every penny!

This ice cream place is overrated and over-priced but manages to hide its "flaws" with jovial staff and jovial drawings of cows all over the place. I have visited it numerous times when I was a student in Oxford and it did not feel as bad then but the essence remains: average ice cream on the expensive side, over-priced bagels with a small selection of ingredients, a pizza-bagel at 3.95 that takes more than 20 minutes to bake and it is just a cut-open bagel with some melted cheese on top (and a very sour tomato sauce). The ice cream is better than the bagel option so go there with friends if you want a relaxed place to sit and have a chat.

We catch up with friends for the coffee first and foremost and then talk ourselves into a bagel and finish with some ice-cream to go. A nice, relaxed vibe, good light meal and yum coffee.

I'm giving this one 5 stars just for the passion fruit ice cream. It is unbelievable! Pure explosion of flavour in your mouth! The rest of the flavours were excellent as well, you won't be disappointed! The staff was also very friendly. Very good!

You cannot leave Oxford without having a G&Ds ice cream. With three ice cream parlours around Oxford, their fun and arty interior is hard to walk past without noticing. Although they are renowned for their range of ice creams, I would also recommend their lunch menu - A favourite has to be their bagels! This is an all round great place to grab a lunch with friends or an ice cream with family. Remember it gets really busy - Especially the G&Ds by St.Aldates Church.

An Oxford institution, G&D's ice-cream is simply the best. Some of the petition flavours can be a little odd, but the classics are brilliant.
