Really impressed! Probably some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in Norfolk. We had a big awkward table of vegetarians and little kids and we could have not felt more welcome or catered to. The veggie roast was phenomenal, I don’t even like beetroot and I ate every bite. Please consider a quick throw together ploughman’s for the kids menu - we can’t wait to come back. Thank you all!

went back for lunch and had fish and chips the batter looked very dark like the oil needed changing, was slightly overdone but tasted ok. my wife had Madras the curry was lovely but the naan was burnt, menu was very limited & not changed in ages.

Came for a themed quiz night, it was French themed. Was a fabulous fun experience. Even with a full house, getting drinks was fast, service all night was superb. Its 15/person and included a two course meal, which was delicious. Roasted chicken, potatoes dauphinoise and then creme brulee. We were seated in the front largest room and found the noise to be deafening. Thankfully, the staff was beyond accommodating and moved us halfway through to the back bar. Don't be afraid to ask when booking for the smaller side of the pub. Such a great time, will be back and 100% recommend.

The food is absolutely Amazing , Full of Flavour and very well presented . I am currently on holiday in a cottage in Castle Acre and after eating the Nachos and Bang Bang Cauliflower I was blown away . Very old pub with a really nice atmosphere. Best roast in the area beats the Dabbling Duck and The Brisley Bell, which are both nearby and very good. Beef was cooked to perfection (even for a picky Frenchman), vegetarian offering was flavoursome and paired perfectly with the awesome sides. 5* roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, red cabbage, greens, and cauliflower cheese & leeks. The gravy is the nectar of the gods. We went back on a Saturday and again, were very impressed. This chef certainly knows what he's doing. Best haloumi burger I've had (homemade sauces and not soggy) and everything on the mixed grill was fabulous, again cooked to perfection. If you are nearby and you can find a table, it gets booked up, and rightfully so, don't hesitate to eat here. We have stopped visiting other local pubs to eat and are firm regulars here now. Thank you Fanny Adams! The service was attentive and fast, and all wait staff were helpful and lovely. The pub is beautiful both inside and out and has a lovely atmosphere with not one, but two fires!

Popped in for fish and chips but ended up having the most delicious fresh mussels from the specials board by the fire. Never disappointed and as cosy as ever.

Non alcoholic board on display but didn’t have any. No Malibu. Special board out but only one available, steak on menu but only one left. Booked table in September and was expecting more.

Good Sunday food wasn't much of a choice though my husband only eats chicken or turkey opted for the vegetarian wellington which was ok

Our favourite Norfolk pub. The food by Fanny Adams is always amazing. Their Sunday roast is the best one locally. Plus they do Duration beer on tap. The staff are always brilliant.

Stopped here on returning home from holiday. For a Monday night there was a good lively vibe with a mix of diners and drinkers. Warmly welcomed by enthusiastic and competent staff. The food was freshly prepared, well cooked and tasty. We'll definitely be back.

I'd rather travel 10 miles south to The George and Dragon than 10 miles north to any of the restaurants/pubs on the coast. FANTASTICALLY flavoured and presented food, service, ambiance and great eclectic music playing! Looking forward to trying out the Sunday lunch soon....

Returned for the Sunday lunch, then the Curry, followed by the Burger. Back again this evening what next?, the food is unbelievably outstanding, cooked with both expertise & talent and served to perfection, always looking for somewhere special that, unlike the chain restaurants, cook with skill rather than by numbers found it at the George & Dragon near Castle Acre

Place is popular but they managed to squeeze me in on a Friday night. Glad they did because the Tofu Katsu burger and Moroccan Lamb with Cous Cous were both very different for this neck of the woods. Well done chef and the excellent service from staff especially the front of house lady who was as charming as the meals were excellent.

Fantastic welcome and lovely food

We had an excellent meal for 4 here, the steaks were cooked to perfection and my request for a second jug of custard with my pudding was graciously granted. They were even kind enough to allow us to park our motorhome in the corner of the carpark overnight after our other plans fell through. Super friendly team and a great drinks menu

Really nice meal. Only criticism was the Yorkshire pudding was bought in I would imagine and I prefer thick gravy or at least a jug of gravy to help myself. Really nice selection of veg and a huge amount of meat do all in all very nice indeed.

Service was excellent (the barmaid from America was one of the friendliest and most hospitable people I've ever met) and a great place to go for a drink. The food let it down a bit, but a good atmosphere and ambience overall.

Unwelcoming - rude - dismissive - there were not tables to eat which we were told abruptly and without apology, but on a wet and horrible xmas week day, we asked if we could have a drink at the bar, were ignored for a umber of minutes and then told we were in the way. The bar area (as it is actually a pub), is broad and there were several people having a drink there, who were equally shocked by the rudeness we received. Not experienced anything quite like this. ZERO STARS. Change your staff and your attitude, however busy you are there is no need to cause upset. My mother was nearly in tears outside.

Came with football team Saturday after our game ,lady behind bar miserable, no interaction with any of us ,was going to spend evening there and use on a regular basis as team is in Weasenham but we all said atmosphere dull and host very rude and never going again

We had an evening meal and it was lovely food. We had such a warm welcome as soon as we arrived and they made sure we had everything we needed all evening. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We would have prefered a wider choice on the menu but the food was lovely. Definately go again!

There aren’t enough stars for this wonderful place! We are so happy to have found the G&D when looking for a last minute treat on the way home from camper van travels around Norfolk. The motel was full but they happily accommodated us in room 11, upstairs in the 18th century pub and brimming with character. The room was gorgeous, modern boutique meets classic country with perfect attention to detail - decor and furnishings of the highest quality and comfort, spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed including a very generously stocked coffee/tea tray. The pub itself was the perfect blend of modern rustic country pub and a small, simple but quality food menu that thankfully doesn’t overshadow the cosy pub ambience, all too often sacrificed to make way for ‘gastro’ pubs and country ‘eateries’. There is nothing of that here, just a well stocked bar that includes some fine local craft beers from Duration brewing just up the road, and excellent quality pub food in a lovely, relaxed setting. We stayed one night and enjoyed a delicious dinner, a few splendid G&Ts and craft beers, and a hearty English breakfast the next morning. There is also an attractive outdoor seating area for finer days. The super staff deserve a special mention too, they were welcoming, friendly and extremely attentive, we couldn’t have asked for better service. Thank you lovely G&D team, this was the perfect treat all round and we are already planning our return visit!

G(e)orgeous pub with a traditional yet fantasy-like atmosphere. I felt as if I were just about to be cast in Starbust or Inkheart or about to sit down and write a new best-selling novel...But got distracted by the delicious-ness of scampi and tiramisu 😋😉

Great rustic country pub with a brilliant atmosphere. Great on a summers day to chill in the garden with a pint and relax. Haven't tried the food yet but heard its very good.

Wasn't welcomed with any information at the bar. Asked for drinks and told to find a seat. Sat outside for far too long without a menu, finished the drinks. Had to go and find someone to order food, still didn't have a menu, waited a while for a very decent burger but shop bought oven chips, had to collar a lady for a glass of wine, she promised she would be right out, another member of staff brought it 20 mins later, then we finished out food and drinks and sta outside until cold, no being offered sweets menu or further drinks, so we left, having to goto the bar, stand and wait being ignored to give the money they required, barely hospitality, wrong industry guys, and pub owners are moaning about Covid lockdown. Hmmm

Food is good pub grub. Not gastro. Lad serving us was so helpful. But welcome into the pub was more like the slaughtered lamb or league of gentleman.

The pub looked really good inside and out. The virus management seemed good. The way all the staff dealt with us was good. The food presentation was good. Em, the food was definitely good, but far too salty. And they could have been more inspirational and tryed to make the food fit healthy common sense. IE, more veg/salad, less white carbs. So 9 out of 10 for venue and staff. I did not put one star, it posted whilst I was filling that bit in! 4 stars and thanks in a horrible couple of years for you Thank you for being there and open.

Fantastic service and food We stayed at the Pig Shed and ate at the George and Dragon, The menu was small but perfect as pub food. Great starters we shared the calamari and it was exceptional, especially the smoked paprika dusting and the dip. For main course my man had one of the best steaks ever, rare juicy and from a local butcher. The price looked expensive at first glance but the price was wholly justified by the quality and deliciousness. I had the most wonderful fish and chips, a fair sized fish, not overwhelming, thank good ness and the lightest crispest batter I have ever tasted. Lovely peas and great double helpings of tartar sauce completed my very satisfying experience. The negative…no wine list, two choices of white and red wine, we don’t “ do new world wines” so only one wile of each colour, the red was a merlot great but heavy quaffing the white…cold but not my fav. One brandy with excellent espresso coffee. We both had a beer when we checked in and the wherry was well kept I had a half pint of something ?.. which was delicious. Excellent staff the wonderful Emily runs a very good team, Tom had just started working and was the most amiable and professional young man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I hope a rewarding career in hospitality is available for both. A lovely evening. Would definitely return. Thank you Emily and team and congratulations to the kitchen team.

Lovely pub with extremely helpful staff. Found it by accident after the pub in Castle Acre was closed and we wanted somewhere to grab a light lunch. Despite having lots of bookings, they fitted us in and the roast beef baguette was honestly the best I've ever had.

Nice atmosphere in beer garden, kids enjoyed themselves and our dogs were welcome too :) friendly staff and good covid processes in place, felt safe

The food was at the top end of “acceptable”, but not “good”... not really in the right league for the price, the Steak comes with a handful of what looks like oven chips, and the meat itself was very stringy... the burger was the other meal ordered and tasted great, however the bun was soaked through and the salad was soggy... it just felt like they had done the prep and then fallen at the final hurdle... We sat outside in the end because one of the staff (young man, said he had only been there a month) seemed to have an issue with keeping his mask on. He would stand right beside our table and pull it down to his chin while stood at the bar chatting to the bartender and he was stood right beside us.. It got to the point that I had to say “if you could put your mask on please, that would be great” because he was leaning over the table with it tucked round his neck. I recognise that some people won’t care about this, but the law is there to protect people... What really let it down was the service, we had to ask for things 2/3 times before they arrived at the table, and the wait times were really quite bad.. overall the meal was adequate but there is enough competition locally that the George and Dragon really should be doing better

Food nice, service friendly and efficient however, you don't expect a pub to have run out of bottled beers. Meal pricey for a pub Sunday roast.

Sat in the garden to have lunch on a sunny weekend in May - great pub food with friendly and efficient service. Good range of real ale. Highly recommended if you're in the area or passing by - also good walking with Castle Acre nearby.

Stopped here on Friday 30th April for lunch en route to Hunstanton (cycling Peddars way). We were greeted very kindly into the fantastic garden and drinks served quickly. Food was amazing, I had lasagna with the garlic bread and salad... And Nachos! My friend had the burger which looked and tasted great (so he said). Would definitely eat here again, great food and very friendly. Thanks!
