Had heard about the Sunday lunch so decided to try. We were not disappointed. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Remembering that this is a Pub that does Grub. Nice service that was a little slow but hey ho we were in no rush supping the excellent ales. The Sunday Lunch was great with plenty of meat, veg, Yorkshire pud and gravy. Lovely and enjoyable we shall be back.

Visited after a long dog walk at the Ashridge Estate. Had roast beef and my partner enjoyed the roast chicken. Both dishes were perfect. I cannot recommend highly enough if you would like to visit the pub for delicious food. Also, has the Cornish Ale, Doombar!Laura the chef gets a big gold star!Understandably, we left a decent gratuity.

Came here on Sunday with 10 friends for a birthday lunch. Order taken at 2pm, food arrived in dribs and drabs 90 minutes later. Final 2 dishes arrived around 4pm. Very disappointing. Staff were friendly but painfully slow. Should have been more up front with us. Food was just OK. Mushroom stroganoff was tasteless. Can’t recommend sadly!

Stopped for drinks after a visit to ashridge. Can’t comment on the food but service was very friendly and the person serving helped us find a table to sit at. Also they showed the football which was a bonus.

Lived in Berkhamsted for 20 years but this was my first visit to the George and Dragon despite making a mental note to pop in on numerous occasions. We stayed for Sunday lunch and found the service to be excellent and the ambiance pleasant. The roast beef and trimmings were the real surprise. Traditional but with some thoughtful touches and cooked to perfection. Definitely won't be another 20 years before I return here!

Drove in off road by chance. Friendly service but waited 25 minutes for a clearly defrosted baguette! Had to go to bar twice to chase - was told they were busy?!! Car park not exactly brimming. Baguette not very appetising / salad ok - but not wonderful. Small bar dominated by sit round locals

Our first visit to this attractive, traditional pub for a Sunday roast. We were not disappointed. Warm welcome, good selection of draft beers and good choice of roast dinners. Food quality was very good. Very enjoyable and we will definitely return.

Pleasant old coaching inn on the High Street with a fresh modern interior. The food is good and reasonably priced, as is the beer. The burger was particularly good, being a home made burger, served with chunky chip, chipotle coleslaw and salad.

A traffic jam outside prompted us to call in for lunch and let the traffic die down. The Guinness was super. The food was very high quality, reasonably priced and served well. The ladies who served us were friendly and the place had recently been refurbished. The menu was sensible (not to ambitious or big) and we had two cod and chips, a burger and antipasti. All were served well and all were devoured. Two of our party were from Australia and they were impressed. We will recommend it to our daughter who works in Berko and we will go there again. Well done.

Very disappointed with the service here, no last orders bell, then told to get out the pub because they've decided to close and don't want to be there anymore because they're working again in the morning. Also there are no glasses after 11pm, just plastic cups.

Had breakfast here as early for meeting, clean and tidy, it was at 8am I did see comments saying they don't serve till 11am so obviously they do now. Food was good and a good price.

Had breakfast at Black Goo and despite arriving when they had just opened, they were only just able to give us a table as everyone else had booked. So prebook before you climb the 4 flights of stairs to reach this cafe. The bubble and squeak was interesting as it included carrots, cauliflower as well as cabbage. But it was an excellent breakfast and the servings are big. Saturday is definitely not a day to go there for a quiet cuppa as it is very popular with families.

Nine of us dined (a late lunch) in the private dining room on the first floor. The team (gloriously international) were friendly, upbeat, patient and attentive. The food was attractive to look at, beautifully cooked and very tasty. We were not pressurised to leave and enjoyed nearly 4 hours of consummate hospitality.
