This was our first time visiting The George Albert Hotel and Spa. I was able to book a table for 2 for the Sunday Carvery easily over the telephone. On arrival we were greeted by the General Manager Stephen, who was smartly dressed I a suit, polite and down to earth. He showed us to our table and pulled my chair out for me - a true gent! The service staff were dressed smartly and took our drink order straight away and gave us our Carvery ticket. Beef and Pork were the meats available, I had both and my husband had beef - both were delicious. The chef/server was chatty and smiley. There was a good selection of vegetables to accompany the fluffy, crispy roasties - swede and carrot mash, roasted parsnips, very cheesy cauliflower cheese, green beans and parsnip puree. The Yorkshire puddings were divine as was the rich, tastey gravy. There was even pork crackling and parsnip crisps! We didn't have a dessert as we were too full up but they looked delicious! An excellent Sunday Roast for £18.50 each in very clean and well decorated hotel with very attentive, happy staff. Stephen gave us a tour of the hotel and it is definitely somewhere we would like to stay and try out the spa.

Arrived on Saturday 5th September as a group of 5 to use the spa. The staff in the spa were all really friendly and helpful. The spa was nothing short than faultless, spotlessly clean and the treatments were amazing. We the headed to the bar for some much needed food. The lady on reception was really friendly and helpful. The food was beautiful and all freshly made, all went down very well. Even kind enough to box up some to take home. The bar and restaurant area was spotless. The owner and chef came and spoke to us which was very welcoming. I would suggest more inside advertising of when hot food is available. To get more customers to purchase food maybe a discount on food of a spa package was purchased? We were there from 9:30-2:00 so we were very hungry. To help boost more custom, do more advertising, leaflet drop in Yeovil and Dorchester. Such a great huge place which would be a grear shame if doors had to close. We will all be returning.

We recently organised a "Motown Memory " party at the George Albert Hotel. Aided by a brilliant nine piece band, and full fancy dress by the 120 guests, the evening was amasing! From the concept stage through planning and execution, on the night, the management and staff were first class. It would be my first choice if I were to do it all again Many thanks GA x

I arrived in the evening it was already dark. Pulled into the completely dark, empty carpark and looked at the huge dark building in front of me. The central area had lights on but both ‘wings’ of the hotel were in darkness’. As I crossed the carpark and got closer I could see into some of the public areas which were obviously closed. I noticed the windows were dirty and weeds growing up between the pavers. After a long day travelling I was disappointed to find that the hotel must be closed! I pushed the door and it opened, I went inside and there was no one. Not on reception, in the bar, no one anywhere. Next to the lift I found an envelope with my name on it. They room key inside and phone number of some local pubs if I wanted to eat. I had to get back in my car and go out again to find something to eat. In the morning i realised they didn’t serve breakfast and I had to go buy it in a cafe across the carpark. The room itself was ok, a bit grubby in a few places and the bathroom was really hot while the room was cold as the air con was on all day. After breakfast I left my key back on the table and left. I can’t say for sure if i was the only guest but being in a huge building with the front door unlocked, on my own, with no staff was a little unnerving. I won’t be back.

I took my partner here for Valentine’s Day, the staff were so helpful and polite, they went above and beyond our expectations. The spa is lovely and so well cared for, great attention to detail too. The rooms are clean, tidy and have good basic requirements. I am a vegan and ate breakfast here, the chef personally came to meet me and asked if everything was ok. I was catered for so thoughtfully and the food was delicious, a beautiful fruit salad and lovely cooked breakfast. I will definitely be returning, this is a great hotel at an extremely reasonable rate.

We had Sunday lunch at the George Albert Hotel which is a large new build hotel at Warden Hill on the A37.There is a carvery on Sunday with two roast meats of offer and a vegetarian option. No starters but deserts. The dining room is quite large and has good natural light. When we visited there were about 5 other parties dining so it did feel a little empty, and whilst perfectly okay it does have a new build hotel feel about it without much actual character . There is a full bar area outside the dining room. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good indeed and very good value. There was an excellent range of vegetables accompanying the roast - potatoes particularly good. The deserts were also surprising good - we had a chocolate Delice and a Raspberry Mouse which we were very impressed with.A pleasant enough meal but it did lack a bit of buzz and atmosphere.

I'm not normally a fan of carveries and usually avoid the conveyor belt of Mothers Day lunches but I was extremely pleased with the GA. On arrival the 3 mothers in attendance were made to feel welcome and handed a complimentary box of chocolates and from then on the service was very attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent, these guys certainly know how to cater for large numbers of people; it was the best carvery I have had. A plus side was that we never felt rushed or pressurised to leave our table but the best bit was the price, there was no premium for it being Mothers Day!! Will be back next year.

Our first visit to the Kings Restaurant.A modern hotel restaurant with lovely food. We went on a Sunday and had the carvery. Only two meats or a vegetarian option. Whilst most carveries offer 3 or 4 meats, Kings did not but the quality of the food was excellent. However the half full restaurant should have resulted in prompt service, sadly that wasn't the case. Hopefully next time the service will match the Chefs quality.

When we booked we were a little unsure what the evening would bring as we warned they had a function and so the table might be 15 minutes late. In reality we were seated on time after drinks and reviewing the menu in the bar. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. Scallop starters and the fish mains were particularly good. The set price menu is great value and we would definitely return, despite travelling from family near Warmwell.

The restaurant itself was fully booked by the time I checked in to the hotel at 5.45, so I had to eat in the bar area, which is clearly not designed for this: high tables and low chairs or very low tables both lead to uncomfortable eating. Food itself was fine, although not exceptional. Service was very poor: I was largely ignored, and had to track down a waiter to get a menu promised by his colleague; it felt like I was an unwanted interruption rather than a paying guest.

Went to the Hotel's restaurant with friends for their Sunday carvery. Food was very good and plentiful, and at £16.50 for 2 courses quite reasonable. The only problem I had with it was the total lack of atmosphere, large dining room with only about 4-5 tables occupied. Maybe the day we went is not representative of a normal Sunday, but I wouldn't choose to eat there again, there are so many lovely pubs in Dorset with nicer ambience.

My husband and I booked at short-notice for the Sunday carvery. On arrival we were taken to our pre-allocated table in the large restaurant. Despite the size of the restaurant, the attention of the extremely well-presented and polite waiting staff meant that the dining experience was much more like that of a smaller, more-intimate restaurant. The service was excellent as was the food. The roast beef was some of the most tender and tasty I have ever had. I was slightly concerned on arrival that there was live jazz music in the restaurant - I hoped it wouldn't be too intrusive. I needn't have worried. The musician was very good and the music provided an excellent backdrop to our Sunday lunch. We will be back!

I have no issues with the food here. Breakfast is self service with a good choice of cereals, fruit, Continental or English, tea or coffee being brought to the table by the willing staff. The set evening menu is very good value for money, offering a choice of three starters, main course and puddings. As is usual, the a la carte menu has a wider selection and is more expensive, but we didn't try anything from that menu, but would assume that it was at least the same high standard.

The George & Albert Hotel is an oddity. It is an ugly modern building from the outside which looks more like a motel than a hotel, and is stuck on the main road from Dorchester to Yeovil in the middle of nowhere (except for the clay pigeon shooting and go-cart track enterprise just behind it).Quite why any holiday-maker would want to stay there instead of in one of the many gorgeous old villages or towns in West Dorset beats me. So most of its business probably comes from business conferences and perhaps weddings.Anyway, the only reason to try the restaurant out (I live locally) was because I had received through the letterbox a flyer offering a 2 course lunch with coffee to locals for £10, So I went with a friend to try it out. We were served by a young, smart and dashing waiter, who looked the part of a second world war Royal Air Force pilot, sporting an immaculately trimmed handlebar moustache, which dominated our attention whenever he came to our table, which was often, as only one other table was occupied. Our main courses were battered fish and chips, which was excellent and plentiful, and a pheasant dish, which was quite tasty, but rather dry and not generous with vegetables. The puddings were really very good indeed and generous - a creme brulee and a bread and butter pudding. Given the rather unpromising nature and lack of atmosphere of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, simple though it was.We were given a large cafetiere of coffee to finish with, all for the price of £20 for 2. I am not sure whether a non-local (without the flyer) would be given the same deal - possibly not. But I thought it worth writing a review, since our lunch was outstanding value for money.

Took the whole family for the Sunday carvery, nice clean restaurant, the service was very good, They enjoyed the carvery, they liked helping themselves so the portions were more suited to individual appetites, the food was well cooked and presented, the rest rooms were spotless. There was only one vegetarian option which was a shame but it was delicious. The Hotel/restaurant has easy access being right on the A37 and loads of space to park. The only slightly negative issue was that to get into the hotel we had to wade through a large group who were having a smoke which made the entrance a bit smelly. Overall we had really good service and it was good value for money

As many say on trip advisor, this place could be lovely but its the dirtiest hotel i have stayed in, im afraid. After a shower, i foolishly didnt wear my slippers and had to wash my feet again after 5 minutes of walking round the room. The rim under the toilet was disgusting (i didnt look deliberately, it was that bad) and there was dust on the valance and the headboard. At breakfast the glasses were murky and the table mats stuck to the table. Please get better cleaning standards, its really off-putting and a real shame. This isnt a 5* hotel as things stand. Also impossible to use the spa, i dont consider a 'spa hotel' to have only one technician and hot tub.
