Galleon Grill in Argyll & Bute

We were attracted by the 5 star rating but found the food okay but unexciting. It felt like the business was struggling and I hope they can turn things around. Sticky table and gloomy lighting didn’t help. Maybe we caught them on an off night but on this evidence The Galleon needs to improve.

Absolutely delicious food! Locally sourced produce cooked to perfection and great service. Second visit and will definitely be back again!

This bistro is a real treat - small menu but we had no trouble choosing (including 1 dairy free and 1 vegetarian in our group ) - between us we had the scallops - salmon - steak and lamb all were delicious - felt like a genuine taste of mull - freshly cooked to order - nicely presented - good service - try the cocktails to start - highly recommend

Stopped in for lunch, and We were NOT disappointed!! Quaint spot, great service, imaginative lunch menu with fabulous selection of wines. As a chef provenance is massively up there on my priority list and again this place did not disappoint AmaZing from beginning to end! Will be back

Galleon looks good from outside - inviting lighting but the decor inside just isn't as good (writing scraped on doors and hand written signs stuck on doors on way to the toilets lets it down). Maybe a change of lighting would help. Although it was quite busy there was strangely a lack of atmosphere. Food was good. Kids loved the chicken goujons. Although prices were comparative with elsewhere in Westport, considering the above, maybe a bit on the pricey side.

We had been looking forward to eating here for quite a long time. Unfortunately it didn't live up to our expectations. Some items on the menu were unavailable and the menu itself was a much smaller version of the food described on their website. There were no main meals suitable for myself as a vegetarian. the restaurant did say they could make me some pasta with a tomato base which im pretty sure came from a Lloyd Grossmans tomato jar sourced from the co-op next door. I was then charged a whopping £24 !! Needless to say we wont be back.

Very good restaurant, probably one of the top two restaurants In Tobermory. We had various meals which mostly was very good if expensive. I recommend the Lamb rump.

We were visiting Mull last Saturday and went to the Galleon Bistro on the Isle of Mull for a light lunch. We were welcomed very cheerfully and the service was really good. The food was excellent and the atmosphere of the Bistro was lovely. I would recommend it totally.

Delicious locally sourced food. We went in for some lunch and would definitely recommend it. I ordered the pan fried scallops and they were so fresh and tasty, washed down nicely with a glass of white grenache rose. My husband had the scampi and it was the best scampi he has eaten with a pint of Lock Lomon Ale. Small rustic and charming place.

My wife and I visited on our first night in Tobermory and had a brilliant meal. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with comfortable seating, the service was great and the food tasted fantastic. Where my wife has coeliac disease, meaning she needs gluten free food, this wasn’t a problem with the team quickly and easily being able to point out which options were already gluten free, which could be modified to be suitable and which would not be appropriate. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Great place for lunch. Menu is varied and not overly complicated so a nice choice. Great local produce which we always appreciate, that businesses support each other. Food was beautifully served, tasty and most certainly deserved of the good reviews. Would definitely revisit and recommend without hesitation.

My wife found The Galleon online and booked on a hunch we would enjoy the food. We Loved It! I would summarise the food as beautifully cooked, so very tasty, and provided in hearty portions that won't leave you hungry. We so enjoyed our first meal that we decided to change our plans the next evening and come back to Tobermory to eat here again. We were staying at what I guess is the fanciest hotel in Craignure, but its restaurant could not compete with The Galleon on quality, though I'd guess they were about equivalent on price.

The Galleon had always been a favourite place to eat before it changed ownership, so my husband and I were a little wary about taking our overseas friends here for a meal. We needn't have worried. The food was amazing, the atmosphere and service outstanding. We will be sure to eat here again next time we're on Mull. Highly recommend.

I skipped past this place on TA in my search for good seafood as the blurb says it’s a steakhouse and doesn’t mention seafood. It also doesn’t appear when you search for ‘best seafood in Tobermory’ This is bizarre as we had fabulous mussels, langoustine and scallops. Generous portions, fresh as a Daisy and perfectly cooked. Chips were good too. Friendly service. Handsome house Labrador. We were 4 very happy customers.

An exceptional meal, combining local ingredients with excellent cheffing ability and imagination. Wouldn't hesitate to return when next in Mull.

The galleon has to be the finest restaurant in Scotland. Simple, hearty dishes cooked in such a way that cannot be improved upon. The lamb in particular was a highlight. The chef and proprietor butchers his own meat before cooking slowly to ensure absolutely not flavour is lost. Starter was also equally as fresh as they come with the crab coming from the harbour mere metres from the restaurant itself and you can certainly taste the difference. The sauces complemented the seafood perfectly and so well balanced! Dessert was a triumph and I selected the special apple which was a chocolate apple filled with a decadent but light mousse and a centre of baked apple compote. The wine list does not let down also with quality wines at reasonable prices making this meal one I will never forget. The service and hospitality was warm and friendly, never rushed and made the restaurant feel like an extension of my own home. I implore anyone visiting mull or the surrounding area to make a point to visit this gem. You wont regret it!

A hidden gem. Tucked away in Tobermory, this venue is truly packing a punch. Wonderful food, beautifully presented, attentive but discreet service. No downsides, simply perfect.
