Gaucho City in City of London, Westminster

We had a wonderful experience at Gaucho. We heard lots of good things about Gaucho and they were right. Joe show us the different kinds of stakes and recommend us to go for the gaucho sampler with a wine pairing. I totally recommend it. He was really knowledgeable and it made our dinner so much more enjoyable.

Expensive, but everything is amazing, hard to go wrong really. (Just watch the prices!) The wagyu beef burger for example is one of the best burger burgers (the burger tastes good, not just the extra filling) I have ever had. The shared mixed sausage starter is also highly recommended. Be aware that the mains don't come with sides, you have to order them separately. Some like the broccoli are complete rip offs and should be avoided. Steaks in photo were medium. Brownie doesn't look great but damn if it didn't taste good (great texture too!) This Gauchos feels a little more cramped compared to some other locations. But that makes sense given it's location.

If you’re looking for a memorable meal in London, Gaucho’s chateaubriand is a must try. It's an experience that will leave your taste buds cheering!

As expected when dining at Gaucho , the staff were exceptional. Always on hand to help , offering recommendations and ensuring drinks were topped up. The food was cooked well and they make a great pisco sour

I first came here 10 years ago as a student. I thought it was the best steak I'd had in my life. Over the years as I would reminisce about Gaucho, I'd think "maybe it was placebo effect, maybe the steak was not as good, maybe I only thought it was good because I had paid a lot of money for it". Today I came to Gaucho again after 10 years. It wasn't placebo. The steak really is THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD. Simply delicious.

An exceptional dining experience with perfectly cooked, flavorful steak. The cozy atmosphere and attentive service made everything even better. A must-visit for meat lovers!

Beautiful restaurant with fantastic service and excellent location in the centre of City. Highly recommended! Marinated Ancho was a highlight of the dinner.

Disappointed with my starter of crab on tostado, the crab was placed on fancy crisps, tostado in Spain means toast which was what I was expecting.....

Despite having to cancel and rebook for later in the evening the team were polite and helpful. We had more attendees than originally expected and again staff were accommodating. Food as always was superb. And waitress was attentive and friendly. Another great night at Gaucho.

Spent my birthday here, and it did not disappoint! The waitor Kevin was extremely helpful, very warm and made the experience enjoyable. Highly recommend! Food was lovely and cooked to perfection! Well done to the team ! :)

Gaucho is always brilliant, no matter which one i visit. The staff are well trained and knowledgeable about allergies and they always make you feel safe and relaxed eating there which trust me in this day and age of food allergies being so common/serious is very pleasing. The food was amazing, i usaully get the chateaubriand but i've had most of the menu, Chateau is definitely the best but everything is good. interior and decor are always cool and the staff are always brilliant, friendly and attentive but not too overly attentive, they are always there when you need them. thank you Gaucho!

For me, it wasn’t worth it. The food wasn’t great and it’s over priced

What a fabulous venue nestled down the stairs in the city! The lunch menu itself is EXCELLENT value .. and so def try the prawn starter - we were all literally gobsmacked .. such a delicious and flavoursome starter! Then we all had various versions of the steak which wa also cooked to perfection and superbly tasty. Cocktails tried were the Wagyu martini and the miso sour - both absolutely perfect! Kevin our server took most excellent care and was spot on in his cocktail recommendations. My only downside was I couldn’t try them all so will definitely be returning. It was also such a treat to see Monty and Ellie there doing their usual amazing jobs being fabulous hosts. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes too as definitely a perfect spot for lunch. We are definitely coming back and looking forward to trying some more of the menu. Thanks again to all

Good ambience, modern vibes, fantastic steak and great service

Extremely average food and hugely inflated prices. The waiter constantly tried to upsell. To add a 13% service charge in addition to an already overly expensive meal was quite frankly insulting.

Yum! What an amazing experience this was - the food was off the hook good! The appetizers were amazing, each one was unique and tasty, and they even had gluten free bread to serve - which for London is a pretty big deal. The main courses were all well seasoned, cooked to perfection and accompanied by very tasty sauces - each steak was cooked according to request (which rarely happens) - every one of us left super happy! 12/10 - excellent job!

We last visited this restaurant in 2021 and everything and i mean everything was perfect. The food, the wine, the service the atmosphere everything. I used to say to people if they were ever in London they should pop in. So whilst down in London for new year we completed the Jack the Ripper tour (brilliant) and whilst walking back to our hotel we popped in to see if they had a table available. Of course they did, because this venue has changed so much that i was wondering if it was even the same place last time we came it looked lovely, cow skins on the chairs, lovely lighting. Now i felt I was in some sort of British legion club (sorry British legion if my assumption is wrong) The venue was not even half full, no atmosphere at all and the food was awful for the price they charged. Grilled sea bass where the skin was the nicest thing about it, prawns al aljillo, was obviously something completely different to the menu description as only the accompanying bread was nice, one parties rib eye was just riddled with inedible fat, mediocre chips, mediocre mushrooms, mediocre lobster all insulted with a £50 additional tip for literally placing plates down. Never again. Sorry in todays world were restaurants are aplenty this place needs to seriously do some rethinking.

Probamos el menú de almuerzo de invierno y nos quedamos impresionados. El restaurante tenía un poco de una sensación de Nueva York al estar en un sótano y el personal era todo amable e informativo. Compartimos los 4 entrantes y aunque no son particularmente grandes, todos eran buenos. Los filetes estaban muy bien cocinados (med rare) y venían con un tazón muy generoso de patatas fritas. El vino está en el lado caro, pero es enero seco y los refrescos eran razonables.

Great restaurant to celebrate New Year’s! Food and services was fantastic and we will come back when visiting London.

Food was very good. Service was great. Had a New Year’s Eve dinner there and was treated proper and un-rushed. I highly recommend you go there.

Such a nice place. The Interior is even prettier than in the photos. And the waiter was quite friendly and pleasant. The food was fancy and tasty. Prices are not extremely high. But it was difficult to find an entrance.

The staff were great and so was the food. What a fantastic restaurant!

Overrated - cafeteria feeling - but pricey. The service felt like being on a conveyor belt as we were almost pressed to finish our meal because of a subsequent booking. Food and wine were good but that was about it.

We've has a wonderful family dinner. The service was impeccable and the food was one of the best my family has tried. We are looking forward to another visit soon.

Great place to catch up with friends, cannot fault the food the steak is amazing. The service team are very professional and knowledgeable about the food, et cetera do anything I would say at lunchtime it can be very noisy. 

Good food and service was also fine. However, an included service charge of 13% is ridiculous when paying £120/person for the food/drink.... No-one gives me a tip for just doing my actual job. The team were fine, and so I gave a 10% tip. Come on Gaucho... behave!!

I went to eat with 3 of my friends ,meat which was spectacular and the services from Africa our host was really good,really nice experience!!

We had a large table of 15 for a family Xmas dinner and were given a private room. It was fabulous to have the space and be able to move around and mix a little during the evening. The food was great (on the whole). Importantly the steaks were delicious, and great starters, chips need some work! The staff and service were super friendly and efficient, we'll definitely return.

The service was really professional and welcome in. Feeling like home. The communication and the service of our waitress was really professional. The food and wine was really exquisite, the steak was full of flavor and the wine was very balance with the steak and the aroma was delightful. Really recommend to eat here, can’t wait for the next visit

Great food, attentive but not intrusive service, and a great vibe. It’s not the cheapest steak diner, but it’s definitely one of the best steaks you’ll ever eat. Definitely recommend for a special occasion.

Decent grub below one of the best Wetherspoons in london, nothing more satisfying than yamming down a steak in the former gold vaults of the Bank of England. Went for a work lunch, nice set menu, lots of variety.

Superb quality of the steak, very good service - only negative is that the restaurant requires better extract ventilation to stop kitchen smell.

It’s a steak restaurant. When I order a filet don’t serve me the tail end folded over at the same price. Was Cooked ok but very little sear and no better than a gastropub. Service was slow and lacking, yes it’s Christmas but that’s no surprise or at least apologise for the wait / inattentiveness. Could barely get a drink and honestly for the price I’d rather have eaten in Wetherspoons around the corner.

I am a private chef for wealthy individuals and I organise private events using high quality meat so I am very fussy when it comes to eating steak in restaurants. The Chateaubriand we had this evening was sublime, cooked rare to perfection, the wine list is interesting and we went for an Italian pinot noir. The Chimichurri was nice, it would be perfect if a bit more vinegary. Nice cozy atmosphere and the restaurant is elegant, but casual. Professional staff, Ruben served me and my girlfriend and his service was flawless. We will definitely go back again to try different meat cuts. 5 stars well deserved

I love the food anaesthetics upon arrival. The staff are very friendly. One thing I will say the châteaubrion was absolutely mouth watering and perfectly prepared. I would recommend to any one I was recommended by a friend and very thankful for it . Very accessible and great menu

I was really disappointed with my Gaucho experience.. the steak wasn’t bad but all the sides were really bad.. and for me the sides/accompaniments are what complement the steak.. the chips were cremated so I sent them back and they bought out some new ones that were equally burnt. The other sides we had weren’t great and the starters weren’t the best. Cheesecake Desert was nice though. Service was also slow.

Great option for a business lunch meeting!

If Gaucho was an airline, I’d be a card carrying frequent flyer at Gaucho! Despite the busy lunchtime, there was a warm welcome, I was promptly seated and served, with a perfectly cooked steak and wonderful staff at the establishment. In New York & Chicago it was Smith & Wollensky for steak, but in London, it can only be Gaucho!

Very nice restaurant located in the basement, the employees are very smiling and attentive to the smooth running of the meal. The starters and dishes tested were good as were the desserts. The cooking of the meat is well respected. Special mention for the salmon tartare tacos, empanadas, stracciatella and chessecake pasta. The service was top notch, thanks to Africa and Valériane.

Went with friends, no booking, receptionist was very accommodating, Nacho was amazing gave us a booth, Chateaubriand is fantastic perfectly grilled, we had broccoli and mac and cheese with bacon on top! Carla from the bar was amazing, best Margarita I had in the Bank/Liverpool Street area! Great little gem of you are looking for good food and good drinks, heads up is in the basement so no view but totally worth it!

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Myself and a group of 4 friends rocked up without a booking and Felicia (think she was the manager) was very accommodating and found us a table within 10 minutes although the restaurant was full. Ruben our waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended great starters (provoleta, empanadas, prawns) we shared a chateaubriand as we were pretty full but it was just the perfect amount. Didn’t try the wines, but the chimichuri margaritas made by Carla were divine. Cannot recommend more!!!

What an amazing experience, from the welcoming drinks at the bar with Carla to the outstanding service provided at the table, everything was perfect, don’t forget to try chimi margarita. As long as Felicia is there, this place is golden!

Went out for dinner with the corporate team and the waiting staff are professional and well informed. Came and explained the cuts and suggestions. Steaks were cooked to perfection with just the right seasoning and paired with a lovely red wine. Would recommend to any carnivores out there.
