After eating in many Indian establishments Gatley Tandoori really is a cut above the rest. The decor, service, value for money, but most importantly the food; is outstanding. After my first visit and being impressed by the generous and various dips presented with my poppadom order, I knew I was on to winner. Being a vegetarian I also appreciate when my order is accommodated for and not shown on the menu. This of course wasn’t a problem for Gatley Tandoori. The food is not too rich and full of flavour, the Naan bread is sliced (it’s the little things that give it an edge). The rice dishes are generous, in-fact all dishes are generous and tasty that you’ll be arranging your next visit. The waiters are a great team, no request is too much. You can tell they enjoy their work and there’s definitely a family vibe between them. I say this with complete sincerity, you won’t be disappointed visiting this special place. Thank you Gatley Tandoori keep doing what you’re doing you really do have it all.

It's not the cheapest place. But you can take your own beer.

A group of 9 of us went we had the private room the service was second to none . The curry was out of this world no complaints from any of us. I had chicken Madras which was the best I've had in ages. Would highly recommend this restaurant will definitely return. Thanks !!.

What can I say! This take away has never failed me, always been absolutely spot on, I order the same meals each time and honesty they are absolutely amazing! Always extremely fresh! It might be a little bit more expensive than others but it’s worth it! They’ve never forgot an item or got it wrong! Always plenty of food too! And many times I’ve stored the food correctly and heated it appropriately and had it the next day!

Gatley Tandoori Restaurant which is next door and separate to it's Takeaway. I visited for a family birthday celebration. Parking was on the street unfortunately some people had a walik. The restaurant doesn't have a alcohol licence but a supermarket and off licence are close by, the restaurant has information about them post on a wall. A number of children were present at our function and they were catered for. The staff were very polite and accommodating even with the children. A birthday cake was presented to the guest of honour. I can't testify as to whether or not the property is adequately wheelchair accessible as I'm not wheelchair bound but I can add that they do have disability toilet facilities grab bars and handrails etc. Hot & cold water was available (I've been to properties that don't have hot water). The property was clean and and tastefully decorated. Unfortunately I can't vouch for the vegetarian or dietary options. A Good time was had by all.

I believe that the service is what makes this restaurant very unique They are very attentive and have a good bond with their regular customers The food is the crown jewel Fresh, authentic and delicious. Very good portions and quick service Will come back to try different dishes.

Went for a celebratory meal after finishing treatment for cancer. First time using this restaurant wasn't the best staff hovering round watching you like hawk's waiting for you to finish your starter they'll swoop in before you've swallowed your food small portions and very pricey only positive thing was the homemade chips overall not the best wouldn't recommend it ☹️

Went to this restaurant for the Sunday buffet.. lovely food, quite a lot to choose from, starters & mains, helpful waiters very clean would recommend.

We went here as a group of 5 males catching up with life etc. I cannot fault the evening. As 5 guys yes we ordered to much but the food was great. We shared and agreed the dishes were really good. Have to say the starters were the highlight, not to say the mains weren't good. I thought the service though was outstanding, the guys were attentive and personable so much so we have already agreed to return.

Our family of 7 including two children have been for the Sunday buffet today. Plenty of choice of curries and as always attentive staff. Will visit again soon.

Just had an Uber eats delivery; after seeing good reviews we were hopeful, as this restaurant has been going since I was a child. But honestly so disappointing; a chicken tikka masala which you’d think had been prepared for a kid, literally lacked any flavour whatsoever. Completely bland, not a spice had touched it. Just a shame that they’re clearly knocking out food for the English palette and not authentic flavours. Saag aloo was semi decent, pilau rice overcooked and naan bread was probably the worst I’ve ever had, can get better from a shop. Massive shame, so disappointing.

Not been for a while but we were glad to revisit. The food was outstanding, Curry’s were tasty and mixed grill was cooked to perfection. I wasn’t charged anything to bring my own alcohol which is a great gesture and the chips taste like homemade ones. The service was also excellent.

Ordered a delivery online through Ubereats. The app told me the food had arrived although it had not. I rang Gately Tandoori and they told me that they could not contact the driver. And that they would ring me back with more information. A while passed so I rang back. They told me I could only speak to Ubereats about it and then they went on a long rant about how often their ubereats drivers don't deliver orders. I had to hang up. Lost out on a lot of money with no apology or consideration from the takeaway. Won't be eating there again and would not recommend especially delivery.

After being told by the waiter that this is the "busiest Indian restaurant within the Stockport / Cheadle / Gatley area", I expected the food to be amazing... but it was not. Average quality (nothing to boast about) and certainly not good value for money either. I've had much better food in other Indian restaurants within the area so I doubt I will be back any time soon.

Used this take away for 20 years. Nice food tbh. But they frequently mess up the order, especially on a Saturday night. Dont think I'm going again. Take a little more time to put the correct items in the correct bag!!!

The food was good and the waiters very polite and very accommodating

First time I've been there with my in law family. The team are great. We did not hold back from ordering with starter and mains and still it was under £30 per person. Only thing I found it strange was the Tikka masala is super sweet. Apart from that the rest of the food was amazing.

Abysmal service. Complete wrong order delivered. Rang up to try get right order sent out, Told they couldn’t do that and to cancel order and re-order. up to 4 days to get money back and wanted us to send them another £45 to get our order right and wait another hour. No customer service what so ever. Would give 0 starts if it was possible.

Leaving review not as a customer but a Deliveroo driver - Usually delivery drivers are not treated very nicely unfortunately however my first time collecting food from this place and the member of staff treated me with respect, very kind and polite greeted me with a smile, addressed me by my first name as he could see on his delivery system it would be myself collecting the food to be delivered, he told me to take my time and accept the order when I was ready when usually restraints ask you to accept the order (mark as collected and on the way to customers) whilst the food is still in there hands being packed and he attempted to conversation although I could see he is busy and I was too. If the service is as good as this to a delivery driver then I can't imagine how paying customers are treated and what care goes in to the food. Will definitely be trying the food with friends and family, good service and being kind to people goes a long way, thank you!

Was one of the best a while ago, now the food quality has dropped quite considerably. Poppadom's were great, We ordered a take away, onion bhaji, beef curry and extra portion of curry sauce. The bhaji wasn't fresh, (or not cooked properly) the meat was chewy and the extra sauce was watery & certainly not £18 worth. I have used this place since it opened, it will not be used now.

Ordered on Uber Eats. Some of the most unauthentic Indian food I've eaten. If your curries turn up red, guess what? That's not how they are supposed to look. I ordered a handi, and honestly it could have been any curry on the menu, it's far from a handi and definetly isn't meant to be glowing red.

Only those who have never had real Indian food will enjoy the food here. There roghanjosh and bhuna looked and tasted the same whereas they are two completely different dishes. The fact that most Indian labelled (but not really Indian) restaurants are just using common pre-made curry sauces and trying to develop a specific dish by just throwing in store bought spice premixes, is ruining the Indian food scene in UK. Gatley Tandoori is just one of those. The staff were ever so unbothered that when asked for, they kept looking at each other rather than coming to us to see what we need.. But as it was very late I don't blame them.

We ordered a takeaway tonight and we were massively overcharged. We ordered 2 curry’s 2 rices and a naan bread and the order was over £40. When we called up to ask why it was so expensive it was because they charged us for sauces which they sent us 14 different sauces which we didn’t ask for and refused to accept back when we didn’t wanna pay for 14 sauces which we didn’t ask for. Very argumentative and did not wanna help or refund us. They are usually a really good takeaway but today they were a let down.

Food was nice. All dishes looked very similar despite ordering different meals. But food was hot and tasty.

Love this place, I've been coming here for 20 years on and off. I went to the Sunday buffet this week. The poppadums were slightly stale, not as if they were left from the day before a few hours old. All the other food was excellent and there was a great selection. I'm not a big fan of the massive screen in the there. Not sure why they've got a great restaurant and plonked a giant TV for the football in it.

First time visiting for a double birthday buffet........small buffet in size, 8 main dishes, 2 varieties of rice, and 4 starters to choose from...... The onion bhaji fly out, they don't serve alcohol but you can take your own in which is good for those drinking and not driving...... Book in advance for parties and ring to verify buffet is a good price for less that £15 each

Best Indian Sunday buffet. Great price, lots of food choice and friendly staff. We have eaten here often and never had a bad experience.

I regularly order from Gatley Tandoori as my local Indian takeaway and never disappointed. Lamb Balti is my favourite dish and Naan always fantastic.

I have been wanting to try here for so long. The food was great especially the stuffed chicken keema. but what really made it for us was the service. My son has a disability and wasn't having the best day. The staff went out of their way to make him happy and content. I cant thank them enough. I am rubbish with names but think the guy was Naz? Anyway, highly recommended and we will be back

Terrible keema Nan - the so called ‘meat’ that was meant to be in it- was really sparse very tissue thin, very disappointing, the lamb balti had too many huge big chunks of onions & peppers it, I know it’s meant to have them in it - but it overwhelmed the dish as there wasn’t enough meat, again very disappointed it’s put me off ordering from here again wasn’t cheap so expect better than this

We have been using Gatley Tandoori since it opened many years ago as a takeaway, then more recently as a resturant as well. Definitely the best Indian in Manchester and the benchmark for all others

If in doubt give them a try. They are not always perfect but definitely better (most of the time) than the rest. When they are good it’s very good, when they are not so good it’s still OK. Always takeaway, don’t know what the sit down is like.

My wife and I came here on Christmas Day. Great food, service and hospitality. We came again on 6th January 2023. Once again splendid. The restaurant is clean, well appointed and in an ideal location. Service is second to none and the atmosphere is superb. Staff always friendly. Have been going to Gatley Tandoori takeaway (next door) for many years. I can't understand why we have not been in the restaurant until Christmas day 2022. Bring your own alcohol (not soft drinks). Corkscrews and bottle openers provided. Excellent. Thank you GTR.

Fantastic atmosphere great service and the most beautiful food ever tasted.

The family used to love this takeaway however the last few times the food has been bright red with food dye and had a vinegar type taste. Perhaps it's a new chef as it used to be top notch but we've had a few meals that haven't been good at all recently. Willing to re review at later date.

Stopped off on the way home on Sunday approx 5pm. Ordered chicken rogan josh, pilau rice and garlic Nan. Sorry to say it was all very disappointing, bland curry, over cooked Nan. Not what I expected from a very establish takeaway and restaurant. Not sure if I’d risk it again. Such s shame.

Food was tasty. Love that its BYOB, but thats where the positives end. Service wasn't great, bordering on rude. Asked for a larger table as the food wouldn't fit on there, the restaurant was empty and the server actually laughed at us. The waiter was reaching over a ledge to place our food down rather than coming to the table, also passed us our drinks and food and asked us to pass it to each other, rather than placing it down in front of us. We had to ask several times to get someone's attention despite there being 4 servers on the floor and only 2 other tables in. It took 3 requests for the bill. It really wouldn't have been difficult to provide a very basic level of service. Probably won't return.

I ordered and collected in 15 mins!!! So impressive as the food was piping hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. I’ve tasted a lot of Kormas in my life, this was the freshest, creamiest and sweetest I’ve ever had. The Rogan Josh was tomatoey and again fresh. The Pashwari Naan, soft, sweet and coconutty. This is now our go to. Highly recommend. 😁😁😁😁

Came for a birthday party which we were all separated at different tables. why can this restaurant not cater for more than 10 people? Food was average. ordered a tandoori mix, meat was very dry and kebab almost hard. Service was absolutely terrible. Staff had a bad attitude and slow service. The only thing good about the experience was the drink that i brought. wouldn’t recommend.

The best Indian food in the area. Great service and consistently great food. Plus, for those that like to watch the football whilst eating, they show the football too. For those that don't want to watch the football, there is the new extension so you can avoid it. What more could you ask for?

Fantastic! I booked the GTR for a birthday meal with 14+. The service was fabulous. The staff were smart,presentable,polite,patient and helpful! The food was tasty , well presented ! The restaurant it's self is extremely clean! Definitely a great place to book for a celebration 🙌 We will for sure be back soon 🙏

Ordered a takeaway on Tuesday night and can honestly say that after 25 years of going to Indian restaurants it was the worst Indian takeaway I’ve ever experienced. Ordered a chicken tikka Madras which tasted like a spiced up Heinz tomato soup, a chicken tikka dansak & a chicken tikka pasanda, which looked exactly the same, a combination of a masala and korma, only the dansak has a pineapple ring and chunks of lemon in it! My parents who are not from the local area could not believe that we’d recommend this place and drove through Cheadle passing numerous Indian takeaway to come here. All 3 of the sauces lacked substance and depth of flavour, maybe the use of onions wouldn’t have gone a miss. Just wanted to let everybody know, last experience, not good.

Had a delivery for a birthday party. 2 curry dishes. with 2 rices. starters. salad. .Nan bread. 2 types of samosas and onion barghis. everyone commented saying the food was amazing. Service was brilliant from start to finish. Thankyou to the team at Gatley Tandoori

been going here about 30 years.. love it.. food is always the best around... I have been in so many curry takeaways around the country and always prefer here.. is slightly getting a little expensive for take away... but as a treat its worth the money

We've been customers here for since it opened. Even though the were only 2 other tables occupied we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff, who came over as very abrupt. When we asked them if they could box up the left over food we were given containers to do it ourselves, at this point we were the only customers left, so they weren't rushed off their feet with no time to do this for us. Over all a poor experience and we won't be returning, which is a shame as it was our favorite Indian.
