Gatley Tandoori Restaurant in Stockport

Celebrated my husbands 60th birthday, we had a set menu and the food was lovely as always and plenty of it .The staff were great , can’t recommend this restaurant enough, brilliant.

Not to its usual good standard Curry sauce with my shashlik like water Lamb chop starter very tough

Ordered via Ubereats…food arrived warm although Ubereats kept delayed the estimated arrival time and then the driver had 2 deliveries. Food was great…the lamb karai was spot on. The naan was a good large size and the stuffed parata was well and truly stuffed!

Got a matar paneer, couple breads and a drink on uber eats for £25, for that price was expecting something decent, but the curry portion was small and really average, the paneer itself was nice but hard to say that for the rest of the dish. Chapati was good but the Naan was stodgy and so firm. Also to top it off I’m yet to work out what this random red colouring on my naan was ?

Heard excellent things about Gatley Tandoori but was severely disappointed. The rice was clumpy and cold, Bhuna sauce watery and lacked in flavour, no chutney arrived which was ordered and paid for. The worst part was the Chicken Shaslik, it came with mushrooms. I detest mushrooms and couldn’t eat it. I think they need to state what the Shaslik is cooked in, as most places just do peppers and onions. This was not stated on the menu and if it was stated ‘mushrooms’ I would have stayed way clear and ordered something else. I’d except the other things as just a ‘bad night’ but the Shaslik with mushrooms when not clearly stated is poor imo.

The quality and taste of the food this restaurant and take away puts out is exceptional. You can tell from the very first bite the passion, attention and skill that goes into every dish. I will be returning time and time again. Thank you for your time and service. It was greatly appreciated. UPDATE: Pricing is an issue, looking at £25 a head for a collection takeaway. Won’t return on principle. Family meal costs a 5 days of food at home eating really well. This is pure greed now. Can’t make the ingredients and math work, no matter the taste.

Ordered delivery via uber eats. Got the tandoori set meal for two. Food arrived and it was missing the naan and the masala sauce. The food itself was ok. Meat quality was good but the flavour just wasn’t there for us. A heavy garam masala taste dominated the flavour of all the meat and lacked a bit of seasoning. The smokiness was good but lacked depth of flavour for us. The tastiest part of the meal was the aubergine dish included. Very nice. Overall an average experience. Didn’t live up the hype we’ve heard recently. Will give them another chance in the future but won’t be back in a hurry.

The food was stale and I was overcharged. Normally good, but on this occassion it was poor! They were busy, but thats no excuse!

I have been to Goa several times if you order the vindaloo it’s absolutely awful it’s not just putting loads of chillies in it about building the flavour awful never again.

Just finished our meal absolutely awful the worse curry house I’ve ever been too.ordered drinks that took over 40 minutes to come. Food took nearly 2 hours to come out. Mixed grill was burnt to a crisp as the hot plate was far too hot. All the starters were missed. I understand they are busy but service was extremely poor the manager could not even come and apologise with is disgraceful. Won’t be back again and would not recommend.

Ordered a takeaway. First time ordering from Gatley Tandoori. Starters were stale, garlic bread was like rubber and cold, the mains were tasteless. Food was late, cold and expensive. Worst food we’ve had in a long time. Will not be ordering again. Much better food locally.

The staff are lovely and it had a very good atmosphere but the food was truly awful. My Rogan Josh had no taste and the chicken was tough . The same with my wife’s chicken tikka . I think they cook all the chicken earlier in the day because it tasted stale . Can’t understand why it has a good reputation - maybe a different chef on the night we went .

Ordered through Uber Eats Food arrived luke warm, curry carton had been crushed and half the contents had spilled in the bottom of the bag I was also missing a portion of chips not happy 😕

Honestly this place is OUTSTANDING. Never once has it failed to disappoint. The food is to die for and is consistently at a high level, i wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else. Customer service is key and these guys have it down to a tee!

Food was horrible. The oil content was more than the food. The food was thrown to the plants as fertilizer because we were concerned it will clog the drains and our arteries.. Never ever we will try this food again!

Been here the last two Sundays for their buffet. Lovely curries on offer and not swimming in oil like some other ones I’ve been to. Chicken tikka to start and spicy chicken wings and poppodoms and chutneys. The usual tikka masala and korma for main course as well as more spicy options including the Lamb Korai which is lovely. Wish they would rotate some of dishes around though. Maybe alternate one of the lamb dishes with a Jalfrezi or a madras. £3.75 for half a pint of tap water with a drop of lime cordial in is way way overpriced sorry

We love Gatley Tandoori and are regulars both dining in and for takeaway. It’s bring your own booze so either get that before it nip out to one of the local shops once you are there. Highly recommend.

Been to Gatley Tandoori numerous times and its always great service and tasty food. Beef madras tonight was lovely and BYOB is always a bonus. Highly recommended.

Went for an early tea, whilst the buffet happened to be on. Nobody took us to our table, and the restaurant was absolutely filthy - especially the floor and tables. Had we wanted the buffet, none of the trays looked like they had anything in. As soon as a new tray come out, half the room piled in. Horrible atmosphere. After 15 minutes of being sat there, nobody came to take a drinks order, or even give us a menu, so we stood up and left. Disgraceful service. We have dined here before and its been good, but after that experience we won't be back.

Ive been coming here since a little girl and there has never been a single time ive not enjoyed it. All staff members are so welcoming, attentive and just overall amazing! The food is absolutely out of this world, ive tried indians all over and never found anywhere that comes close to this place!

The best indian food you will ever have! In the restaurant specifically you will always get the best service ever, all of the staff are amazing, hardworking, friendly and chatty. I have been coming here for years and they are always happy to help and do everything they can for you! Definitely go above and beyond in comparison to other restaurants!

My husband insisted this was a good Indian takeaway. It was the worst food ever. Starter of mixed grill was tasteless. The chicken tikka masala was covered in a bright red sauce which had obviously been dyed. Even worse was the taste, it must have had pure white sugar added. Not authentic Indian food, don't know what the he'll it was. Very expensive takeaway ,inedible. All went in the bin. Never again.

Need to sort Your Uber Eats Partners Second time ordering delivery, first was the benefit of the doubt, second time is unacceptable. 1hr 45 mins to do 2 miles and the driver back and forth, the food absolutely stone cold, ring the restaurant and to be told it’s Uber fault it’s just a disgrace, twice on the trot. Just ordered Deliveroo from Sangam and arrived in 20 mins. Will never order from here again and you’ve lost a good customer and I urge everybody not to waste their time and money, they have no customer care or satisfaction.

After eating in many Indian establishments Gatley Tandoori really is a cut above the rest. The decor, service, value for money, but most importantly the food; is outstanding. After my first visit and being impressed by the generous and various dips presented with my poppadom order, I knew I was on to winner. Being a vegetarian I also appreciate when my order is accommodated for and not shown on the menu. This of course wasn’t a problem for Gatley Tandoori. The food is not too rich and full of flavour, the Naan bread is sliced (it’s the little things that give it an edge). The rice dishes are generous, in-fact all dishes are generous and tasty that you’ll be arranging your next visit. The waiters are a great team, no request is too much. You can tell they enjoy their work and there’s definitely a family vibe between them. I say this with complete sincerity, you won’t be disappointed visiting this special place. Thank you Gatley Tandoori keep doing what you’re doing you really do have it all.

Last night, my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Gatley Tandoori, and it was an unforgettable experience. Since the instant we entered, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service from the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect. The cuisine was exceptional. Every dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The Passanda, in particular, was delicious and has quickly become my favourite. The timing between the courses was impeccable, allowing us to savour each dish without feeling rushed. The atmosphere of Gatley Tandoori added to the magic of the evening. The cosy, inviting ambience made it the perfect setting for our special night. We left with full hearts and happy stomachs, already planning our next visit.
