Gastrobus Bantham Beach in South Hams

We ate here on New Years Day and absolutely loved it. The burgers are incredible with really nice different options on the menu. Sat outside and had lunch then went to the beautiful beach - perfect day out! Couldn’t recommend the food enough and the team are super friendly.

We always visit the Gastrobus when we’re in the area. The food is always brilliant & the burgers really are the best! The kids love their hot dogs & the cakes are delicious & HUGE slices! We love it!

Great food, great coffee. Love the one at Thurlestone near where we stay. It's presence makes a big difference.

Excellent cheeseburger. It was freshly cooked with all the trimmings. As it is the only place next to the beach there can be a bit of a wait

Decide to try whilst visiting Bantham Beach today, decided to go for the Bantham Burger which was probably the best burger I have eaten, a little pricey but in my opinion well worth it, will probably be back again before the end of our weeks holiday

We walked part of the coastal path to get here and were expecting large queues, but were surprised to find more staff than customers, despite it being a sunny September day, albeit midweek. We ordered a burger each, which were freshly cooked in a few minutes. Both were tasty, with good quality ingredients, served on a cardboard tray. The cutlery is wooden, but after the first mouthful of food, the fork developed a one inch splinter that I luckily noticed before it went into my mouth, otherwise it would have been painful. So, no plastic involved in the meal, but the green affect is mitigated by the generator running continuously. The coffee was also good. A tasty meal and good value for the location.

I stopped here for lunch after hiking from Soar Mill Cove, this is by far the best food I have ever had from a catering van and better than alot of restaurants I have been to. The van may seem pricey when you glance at the menu but the food and service are totally worth it. 100% recommended.

On two occasions in the last week (August bank holiday, sun shining) we somehow just missed being able to order burgers and hotdogs for my hungry children as the staff decided to stop serving hot food. I had even asked one of them what time they were serving until and arrived before that time only to be told he wasn't doing the cooking and so didn't really know! There was no customer service at all (what about a notice to avoid disappointed customers as I see this issue has happened before...) and no apology. I had previously waited 20 minutes for a coffee (which was ok) but at the prices they are charging they need to improve their approach and customer service. The food and drink are clearly appealing to a lot of people and many others seemed rather bemused at their approach and opening times.

Burgers of every kind and other easy eating food are provided by three retro caravans in the car park. The is plenty of seating at Bantham Beach which is all part of the well managed Bantham Estate. Lots of car parking and toilets and speedy, afffable service made for a pleasant lunchtime after beach play following the ferry across the River Avon.

After a paddle around Burgh Island I had an awesome burger with goats cheese on it served by two colourful Antipodeans - would highly recommend

Decent bacon sandwich, nice cup of tea. Just what you need by the beach. At busy times you will queue for quite a while but that’s not a problem as the sun always seems to be shining at bantham!

On a sunny day what a pleasant sight to see their vehicles selling lovely food and more particularly great coffee.

Good food and drink but somehow they need to sort the queing as even when quiet the wait to get served is quite long

Noticed the three vans on our first visit. Great little set up. Very busy and normally queues but the go quickly and worth the wait. Ice creams were lovely and the other food looks equally appealing. Bit pricey but to be expected with location etc.

Have noticed the Gastro Bus at Bantham beach the last few days we've been there and it was recommended to me by friends so we gave it a go today...

Very happy when we decided to holiday in Bantham to find the lovely Gastrobus. Really enjoyed the Bantham Burger and the Minute Steak Pannini. Great food and lovely setting by the beach.

This is a great little gastronomic treat at the edge of the car park for Bantham beach, and the burgers are to die for.... however the numerous flies and wasps devouring the uncovered pastries are a guaranteed turn-off for even the hardened connoisseur... a few simple net covers would do the trick!

If you are in Bantham......WOW - the burgers from the Gastrobus are out of this world! So delicious! Great staff too.

These guys really know what they are doing. Excellent burgers including a vegetarian burger of the day. The coffee is very, very tasty too. Can't recommend highly enough!

Our first visit here...cost £6 to park for the day, gates shut at 9pm I think.. you see a small mobile snack bar... but you really should try it... amazing tasty burgers etc...I managed to get a gluten/dairy free vegan burger in a bun, it's a rarity when eating out anywhere, and it was delicious. The others said theirs were delicious too... also a small selection of cakes, vegan or gluten free but not dairy free. The others said they were lovely cakes...I had a peppermint tea.. others had coffee a fizzy drinks.. the people running it were very helpful and we would definitely put this on our list to return to.

Enjoyed the excellent steak ciabatta rolls today, although always torn between wether to choose the fantastic Bantham burger or a Gasto hotdog instead, friendly staff with exceptional good senses of humor and always have a smile xxx

Enjoyed a family visit to Bantham today, started with an ice cream which was wonderful, had a laugh with the two ladies serving which was great, good sense of humour. Moved onto a steak brioche roll later in the day which was cooked to perfection, again happy smiley faces from the guys taking the order and cooking, brilliant! Throughly recommend it!

We often visit Bantham and the Gastrobus is awesome. Had a burger for the first time Easter Sunday and had to wait a bit but it was worth it. Best burger I’ve ever had, even tops Byron and In and Out 👍🏻

Queued up for 20 minutes at the side where hot drinks were served, only to be told that I should have queued at the food side in order to get a drink. Unhelpful and for just one coffee they could have served me as I had been standing waiting for a while. I did not queue jump just made the mistake to queue at the wrong side.

After having a lovely walk on Bantham beach on a blustery Sunday, we decided to stop at the bus for a chai latte. There was only one group of 4 people in front of us at the order queue, so we were served quite quickly, however the same can't be said in the collection queue. The lady making the coffees took so long to make two hot chocolates and two coffees, we stood around waiting for ages. She then proceeded to serve two other people their cups of tea before finishing our lattes. I was so looking forward to this hot drink, but I can say it was the most disappointing chai latte I have ever had. All it tasted of was luke warm milk, with lumps of the chai mix towards the bottom. For someone who took so long to heat some milk and stir in some powder, I think a bit more training is needed. Extremely disappointing.

Friendly service serving delicious food and hot beverages; perfect for a takeaway stroll along the beach.

Happened across this delight when exploring the area with our dogs, the quality of the food is truly amazing, the best burger I have had in a very long time and that includes burgers in proper restaurants. Lovely garnishes, tasty tasty tasty! Great coffee too.

Second visit this year, always very busy so time your visit or just be patient, it is always worth it. It was a shame the salads were not available but there is always something good.

Stopped here after a fabulous coastal walk from hope cove to bantham. Lovely hot cup of tea served to you and my wife claims the chocolate brownie she had was the best she had ever tasted ( she love so brownies!!) The burgers looked and smelt delicious but we had packed our own lunch but wouldn't have hesitated in buying one if needed.

What a great idea to use this vehicle for food, quirky and colourful, makes you want to stop and buy lunch.Very impressed with the menu and friendly fast service. Well done to all concerned, certainly worth the stop after the walk from Hope Cove to Bantham Beach.

Visited this whilst my Kids were surfing on beach on a very wet day. The tea was very welcome in the chilled weather and I had the biggest Chelsea Bun I have ever seen in my life - lasted me the full hour waiting for the kids to return.

We had lunch here last week. Had previously been here in May and had a burger. This time we had the gastro burger (X1) and the gastro dog (x4) and a pasty.

Only had a coffee during Tribal Clash but excellent coffee and service. Good looked and smelt delicious

Arrived late 6pm and pink bus still open so grabbed ice creams, coffees and cans of drink for beach walk, lovely lady and fab vans...long may the fleet grow!!!!

A 2-minute walk away from one of Devon's best beaches, the Gastrobuses offer beachgoers a large array of snacks, pizzas, drinks and (most importantly) Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream. Perfect for quick refreshments in a lovely location - a winner! 🍕🍦

Two fully loaded gourmet dogs (with onion chutney rather than onions) and a kids sausage bap - teas, babycino and ice creams all round...

I can see why people rave about these vans!

Very friendly and helpful staff, and you would be hard pressed to find a better burger anywhere. Well worth the car park fee just to get some food from the gastroburger.

We were here mid August as a couple and had read about this "bus" and reviews of the food so decided to give it a try as we were enjoying the absolutely superb beach .

What a great setup - right in the beach car park and staffed with friendly happy people. A short wait for your food proves it is freshly made and it tastes amazing - I love burgers and these are definitely in the top 10! also have coffees, hot choc, drinks sandwiches etc. No chips but the burger on its own was plenty!

I really like the idea of these converted French vans as high quality catering spots. There are 3 at Bantham, one with pizza, one with ice cream and drinks ( including alcohol) and one with pretty much other stuff. It does mean you have to queue 3 times if the people in your party want different things. The staff are good though, I like the fact that it says ' keep smiling ' on their side of the serving area, they lived up to this, even at the end of the afternoon. We had the cream tea in a box: well presented, but let down by the scones, the jam and the cream, (the last of which was not even clotted). No strawberries either. Fair cup of tea, everything in disposable, probably compostible, packaging, although no opportunity to recycle or separate waste. Really wanted to give more stars from the atmos, but let down by the food

Has the market cornered here but you don't feel short changed by the quality of the product. Very tasty burgers and hotdogs.

El único inconveniente era el personal era un poco caótica - carga el lector de tarjeta antes de abrir es presumiblemente destinado a ser normal!

Nice range of products, and high quality. £5 for two cans of drink, which was a bit steep. Group in front of us had to put stuff back as they didn't have enough money. Maybe lower the price even though you have a captive market.

La mejor hamburguesa gourmet que he comido. Es realmente impresionante. Gastrobus Ofrecen una gran variedad de comida, todo muy sabroso. Panecillos, hamburguesas, perritos calientes, productos horneados, pasteles, chocolate caliente, café italiano increíble, helados, paletas de fruta fresca. Lista parece interminable y sin embargo están haciendo esto de un vehículo pequeño. Cosas increíbles!

Muy bien situado entre el aparcamiento y la playa, y es muy popular. De hecho que la popularidad hace del servicio un poco lento a veces. Los precios son un poco elevados para grub playa pero la comida es de alta calidad y la ubicación perfecta. Parece ser que muchas familias hacen un ritual para detener aquí incluso antes del enfoque del agua. This snack bar sells up-market sandwiches, cakes, icecreams and drinks by the beach dunes. It is quite pricey but all is good quality.

Had some very tasty Burgers from this van, all cooked to perfection. We tried the Ginger Dick which was very good but it was very difficult to choose.

Excellent food, preparation and obviously cooked and prepared with pride. A wide choice even for non burger lovers. Don't expect "super fast" all prepared for you. Nice beers too.

Our favourite beach is topped off with this awesome food truck. Cheese burger is amazing and id consider myself a conasaur in this area! Well staffed, friendly and efficient. Love it

The gastrobus offers great food and service a superb location. Great variety and good quality ingredients matched to speedy friendly service.

Obviously this place is very popular and it is a welcome stop off point for those walking the coastal path. The novel concept of two French camion trucks filled with enticing things to eat is a a very big crowd pleaser

Went to the beach for bodyboarding and was really surprised to find such good quality food available. Friendly staff, great food (and free dog treats - so entire family was covered!). Recommended to everyone.

Un lugar fantástico para pasear y jugar en la playa y este autobús es una joya escondida. Pasteles alucinante y precioso café. Buena pinta pero no hamburguesas tienen uno, sin embargo, mucha gente no! También hacer un maravilloso helados con sabores interesantes y sirven alcohol así! ! ! ! ! Lo que no es demasiado! Todo esto en un lugar virgen de las costa de Devon!

Después de un agradable paseo por la playa con mi novio y su madre, decidimos parar en el Gastrobus para un merecido café y tarta.

Esto fue fantástico. Nos dimos un paseo Bantham y luego pedimos unos hamburguesas. Cocinado a la orden, realmente decente carne. Comimos en el sol en las mesas de picnic. Los niños tenían helados (incluyendo una tarta de Jaffa! ) - de nuevo de buena calidad. También tenía una cerveza local que debido a problemas de licencias automáticas no se llevaron a la playa.

Highly recommend the Bantham Blue burger. It seemed expensive (pub price from a bus!), but was most definitely worth every penny! One of the best burgers I have had in a very long time.

This gastrobus not only looks good but produces great food too. Friendly service and a good menu. Wonderful setting next to the walk through onto Bantham Beach.

Have heard some good things about the food here, wasn't disappointed. If you're wanting or expecting typical burger van food, then this isn't for you. Amazing food in a perfect location. The venue, the food, and the company, made for a perfect afernoon.

Cobraron £3. 50 sólo para ir a la playa en el Gastrobus. Llegamos justo antes de las 2 pm y había una cola de 6 en frente de nosotros. El chaval que estaba a cargo entonces dijo todo que él no estaba sirviendo más comida - al menos 8 comidas que rechazaron. Le pregunté por qué y me dijo que terminaba a las 3 de la tarde y necesitaba tiempo para aclarar. Después de leer a través de nuestros comentarios, el dueño dice que "el personal es cuidadosamente elegido para sus modales y de alegría". Nada, la limpieza o servicio al cliente! Este muchacho parecía muy desaliñada con pelo desordenado y sin cap alargado o delantal. De hecho, después de hablar con él, no me gustaría comer comida que él había preparado. Al lad de sobresaliente en la puerta: cuando le dijimos que no podíamos conseguir comida, nos dio el dinero. No sé si el dueño sabía que dejaron de servir comida a las 2pm, pero había un montón de visitantes decepcionados por el costo y probablemente él negocios bastante dinero y mucho de buena voluntad.

Visited with friends on a trip to Bantham Beach. We all said that it was the best 'outdoor food' ever tasted and even better than the burgers and baps eaten in cafes and restaurants across the country. Well worth a visit! We will be back!

El Gastrobus es un lugar encantador para tomar un bocado. Mi familia y yo tuvimos una deliciosa hamburguesas seguido de helado. Las hamburguesas eran fantásticos y el área alrededor de el autobús estaba lleno de ambiente y un ambiente familiar agradable.

Acabo de volver de un paseo agradable, detenido por Bantham perro para algunos alimentos en el gastrobus. Yo y mi esposa pidió la Gastrodog y fue increíble, buena calidad de salchichas con gran coberturas. Asegúrate de tomar un par de servilletas si pides.

As a wheat free diner it is so hard to find something quick to eat anywhere but the faster bus offers gluten free buns and cakes. They also offer a huge range of sandwiches ( totally delicious! I had Brie bacon and red onion chutney....beautiful!) burgers, hot dogs and cakes. All prices are reasonable and the staff are super nice!

El Gastrobus en Bantham playa es fabulosa. Ofrece buena comida y refrescos por un equipo de dos que siempre tienen tiempo para charlar y pasar el rato. Si estás caminando o disfrutando del mar entonces el Gastrobus está allí para servir bebidas calientes y frías, snacks y comida, hamburguesas, tocino panecillos etc. Idealmente situado, el Gastrobus es increíble, peculiar, pintoresco y muy divertido.

On holiday in Bantham for a week with the whole family, we all experienced a great time there! The food was delicious and everyone was so lovely! Long live the Gastrobus! :-)

Any where good is busy but worth the wait the burgers are the best ever. Just what you need after a morning on the beach. Curry night is a big bonus on a Saturday night too!!

When you have walked the coastal path and you end up with a coffee and the lovely staff, your in heaven and set for for your return walk

Visitamos tanto el autobús azul en lunes festivos cuando estaba muy caliente y muy concurrido. Comprensiblemente, las colas eran bastante largas. En realidad no importa hacer cola para ser honesto y el panecillo chelsea era delicioso y cafés también eran geniales. La comida y las bebidas son un poco caras pero no hay nada más alrededor y, siendo de Londres, estamos muy acostumbrados a eso. La calidad era lo suficientemente alto para justificar el precio.

Hay, de hecho, 2 gastrobuses y la comida que sirven es excelente. Really good quality food and drink, can be a bit of a wait as its a popular spot but it's worth it. Really nice after a surf or a walk on the beach

Picked a beautiful day to find this gem for brunch. Had the full monty and it was well worth the trip. Do get there early as the are very popular and could run out of ingredients. Excellent coffee and very friendly service.

Este es uno de los pocos camionetas tipo retro entusiasta en esta zona, ubicada en una bonita zona verde, justo al lado de la playa.

Hemos oído sobre el Gastrobus de un amigo y que el sábado por la noche tienen música en vivo y curries organizado tailandés que nos gusta. Así que estábamos allí a las 6 de la tarde en punto con nuestras sillas de playa, hay unas pocas mesas, pero no fue suficiente para la cantidad de gente allí. Ten en cuenta que tienes que pagar para aparcar el coche para ir hasta el lugar y la cola durante mucho tiempo para conseguir su comida.

Walked the coastal path on a breezy day with a very tired dog, so when we came across the Gastrobus it was just what we needed for a welcome break, the choice of food and drinks was excellent and the freshly made flapjack and brownies with lovely hot Latte's were just the ticket to revive us.

Me encanta la idea de este y toda la comida. Fuimos a la nueva en arenas thurlstone. No me importa pagar los precios, como estamos de vacaciones, pero nuestro café estaba tibio y era demasiado tarde para decir nada. La comida era estupenda, aunque no podía conseguir huevos como su detergente no había sido entregado para no tener los implementos

Mi familia visitó esta playa hoy y donde servido por un personal muy grosero y estafados por comida. ¿Cómo hacer llegar lejos con carga 5 libras por un perro caliente y niños para una hamburguesa de 6,50 libras (muy pequeña)?

Alguien ha sido creativa con un pequeño autobús el dinero giradores Gastro es una atracción para los ojos. Un espejismo de arena... así que una excelente selección de comida gourmet hamburguesas 10/10 puedes mantenerte McDonalds de tonterías. Servicio rápido en día ocupado aproximadamente 10 minutos. Fuimos a la playa bantham durante el día, y estábamos buscando un bocado ligero para el almuerzo. Mi esposa y mi hijo tenía bacon panecillos, que eran deliciosos, pero tuve una hamburguesa cubiertas con Blue Devon. Probablemente fue la mejor hamburguesa que he probado y totalmente inesperado de una furgoneta móvil en una playa. Ensalada de bonito fresco y una jugosa hamburguesa casera dulce/combinación creando un sabor salado. Volvimos más tarde para un gran pastel de jengibre no estaba mal con café y de nuevo fue fantástico. El personal era muy simpático y hablador - muchas gracias. Recomiendo quedarse aquí si te vas a pasar el día en la playa. Buena comida bien hecha. Excelente.

Tenía un precioso paseo por la playa de Thurlestone bantham y alrededor sobre el campo de golf, lo cual es un paseo magnífico. Vimos el Gastrobus el domingo cuando el aparcamiento estaba lleno y la cola para la comida era enorme. Como era el Jueves este paseo nos fuimos a ver sobre que era toda la queja. Personal muy amable y una amplia variedad de aperitivos de calidad, café y pasteles.

Estábamos en la playa de nuevo para el evento nadar, 'los Bantham Haz Historia y quedamos muy contentos de ver el Gastrobus de nuevo.
