Just stopped here for coffee which was good, the place appeared to be busy with customers on a Saturday morning. Plenty of both inside and outside seating. Decent facilities, lots of staff. Appears to be in the old Town hall building on the market square according to the wall plaque and an old stocks to the rear. Located in a pleasant area of Midhurst with on street parking near by.

We decided to try a different cafe off the main route through Midhurst when we were out in our cycling today and found this lovely airy cafe, quiet location near to the church, a friendly welcome and a nice range of cakes and lovely coffee, plus good value for money. If we’d had more time we would have liked to stay for brunch or lunch as the menu looked very interesting, hopefully another time.

This is a pleasant enough place. The menu is fine and the food that arrived, whilst not quite what we ordered was good. Minor stuff really. That bit that bought it down from a 4star was the staff. The staff talked loudly across the restaurant to one another (it wasnt loud in there or busy) and one particular staff member shouted at Alexa to play different dance music tracks repeatedly. It brought down the experience a little. Its a reasonably priced place and has a nice view of the square

Pit stop for drinks after a walk around Midhurst and Cowdray Park. Situated in historic Market Square in what I think was the old jail house. Friendly staff and nice bustling ambience. Proper tea leaf tea in a pot and a tasty oatmilk hot chocolate and a great price too. Need to do lunch at some stage as menu looks good.

Dropped by on a lovely blue sky day for a spot of breakfast. Situated in a great position in Midhurst. I had the Full English and my wife had some ham and poached eggs. Along with a couple of lattes. The staff were great, even if the service was being aggravated by a wasp or two! Overall the food was good, not amazing which it could be very easily with a little more care with presentation and cooking of brekky items. To be honest though that's me being a tad snobby. A lovely experience in a cracking relaxed location.

First visit - found it all very confusing - is it waistress service or counter service - why no menus on the table - not all outside tables have a sun parasol despite searing heat - inside hard to locate a board with daily specials or even basic items - there are 3 boards of drinks, treats and paninis but so strangely placed as to be of no help to you when queuing up at the counter to order - or perhaps we should have seated ourselves and waited for service - difficult to tell it was just baffling!

Nice place, nice location, staff friendly. Food was disappointing though. The 'hearty' sandwich I ordered had chicken that did not cover all the bread, and there was about one mouthful of salad that had clearly been left out all morning and was no longer fresh, and a tiny portion of crisps. I feel like I'd genuinely get better value with a tesco meal deal.

I have visited Gartons 3 times now. I always like to give some where a fair chance. Different days. Different staff. But sadly Gartons was no better on any of the days. The service is extremely slow. On one visit i counted 5 staff and about 35 members of public and they decided to stop lunch service as they couldn't cope. The food really wasn't great. The waffles were terrible. Dry, sweet and definitely do not have them with egg and spinach. It doesn't work! One plus is they are dog friendly which is always a bonus. Specially if they like waffles!

Great location in the old Town square overlooked by a beautiful church.Friendly staff but urgent training needed on the coffee machine.Latte served both weak and luke warm but the scones were gorgeous.Although nothing to do with the owners the peace and tranquility was somewhat ruined by the feral children from the adjacent pub screaming and shouting in the church graveyard of all places while their parents sat back and relaxed.A local on a nearby table told us this is now the norm so if you’re after a quiet time best leave it until midweek when hopefully the kids are at school.

Walking around Midhurst we decided to rest our feet. There are numerous “coffee stops” around the town but Gartons is located in a convenient square adjacent the church with plenty of outdoor seating and away from the main bustle. Orders are currently taken by table service and was surprised how quickly our order arrived (we visited late afternoon and so it was just cake and drinks which was fine by us). Friendly and efficient staff plus prices reasonable in my opinion. Although we didn’t go inside, the building and cafe interior was at one time the old Town Hall.

Great location & very pleasant “continental style “ outside seating area. Food just adequate though (30 minutes for a smear of avocado on toast for example). Espresso poor. Expensive for what we were finally presented with which was, when all is said and done, pretty simple food that most people would do much better themselves at home. I notice now on reading the TA reviews that Garton’s high rating seems to based on a previous owner.

I have given this cafe a high rating simply because the food is consistently good and the service excellent. I am however concerned at the lack of Covid awareness and am writing so that vulnerable people do not put themselves at risk. I was with a friend on Thursday and the waitress had her mask just over her mouth and when asked to put it on properly she responded that she had a cold and couldn't breathe if it was over her nose. Should she have been working? Secondly she was constantly fiddling with her mask ( every few seconds) and then handling plates. This is poor hygiene at the best of times. She appeared not to care at all. Suggest staff who are not well with breathing difficulties are not serving serving food. Even if she just had a cold her mask handling and then plate handling was not good. Also the cafe welcomed a group larger than 6 and sat them next to each other on tables... clearly flouting the rules and made no attempt to askl a member of the party to wear a mask whilst standing for 15 minutes before leaving.

Very disappointing visit this morning. I live 200 yds away and up until lockdown was a frequent visitor. I fancied breakfast so popped in at 11.40 unfortunately contrary to what the opening blurb on the menu stating breakfast is served all day it isn’t 11.30 is the cut off. When I challenged the statement the waitress just walked off. Another waitress came back and said that main chef was on holiday and the stuff had been put away. It’s not difficult making breakfast but apparently here only the main chef is capable, not sure how they cope before 11.30 though. A shame I left and won’t be returning. Not sure about their parking either and to top it off none of the staff where wearing face masks.

I’m so glad I risked it and tried some as it was absolutely delicious, the best I’ve ever tasted. So much so, I bought another slice to take home. Having walked the length of Midhurst high street failing to find somewhere suitable for lunch my wife suggested looking around the side roads. We came across Gartons. This reminded me a bit of an Italian piazza. In a square with outside seating. Have to say the menu has a nice balanced selection and is very reasonably priced. The food we chose was well prepared and nicely presented. The staff are friendly and the business appears to be generally well managed. Would definitely return for another visit in the future.

We much enjoyed a lunch at Garton's Coffee House in history-rich Midhurst. Our smoked salmon sandwiches were delectable. On a sunny afternoon we sat at a tree-shaded table in the plaza that fronts Garton's. It began as a firehouse - and fire bells still hang outside from the roof overhang. Adjacent the plaze is historic St. Mary Magdalene Church. Across the street is the Spread Eagle Hotel that dates to 1430. An attentive waitress served with a smile and bits of local history. All in all, lunch at Garton's was a memorable occasion.

Queued at 8:30 with another couple, was told by owner/waiter not open until 9:30, said Web Site was wrong, was not apologetic or concerned. Not a way to run a business, will not be using again.

Wandering around Midhurst on an unexpectedly hot and sunny day in April we came across Garstons with its outside tables and chairs and thought we’d check out the menu. However that proved difficult as we couldn’t find one. None on the many tables outside or inside, no board with menu on, no menus at the entrance or on the door. Odd we thought. So we stood inside at the till and waited for someone to pay and then asked for a menu which we took outside and chose from. After that all was good. Food came quickly and was suitably priced and sufficient for us for lunchtime. We thought, seeing as we were sitting outside next to a crossroad that there might be traffic nuisance but no, very little traffic so a lovely place to sit and relax and be fed and watered. The only downside was the lack of sight of a menu before committing ourselves to the place.

I took my mum here recently for a light lunch. I was surprised to find a little gem in the middle of my home town. This place is lovely. Staff go out of their way to help. What made it better for me was definitely having a little beer with my lunch. Prawn sandwich my mum had looked lovely. And my prawn jacket potato was just as good. Left feeling full and happy will 100% be back.

Gemma and her team from Tiffins of Petworth provided the catering for my mum's 8oth birthday party in the garden. I could not be happier with the service they provided. The food was superb, delicious and beautifully presented, they were relaxed, friendly and well organised and the whole service was reasonably priced. They went to so much effort to make everything as easy and stress free for us and really were a highlight of the day. They exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them. The Cafe is also lovely and has the same level of care, service and delicious food. A real asset to Petworth.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.

We went to the Potager restaurant last night. It was Locals Night. The menu was imaginative and the food delicious and well presented. The atmosphere and service was dood too. The Locals Night is excellent value and we would highly recommend
