Garstang fish & chips in Wyre

Went for lunch food very expensive service was good, but the down side was letting a dog 🐕 eat off the table and licking it which is disgusting dogs should be on the floor, over all food was just below standard chips very bitty and just warm to young girls spent more time talking then working the more mature lady was very good, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE DUE TO VERY POOR STANDARDS BECAUSE OF THE CAINE POINTS MENTIONED

Lovely food, excellent service.

Had the Senior Citizen’s deal- fish,chips,peas,bread and butter, coffee/tea. Good price and quality, asked for lightly battered fish, it was well cooked, moist, not soggy, piping hot. No grease on plates, good chips and decent sized separate dish of mushy peas. Good size of teapot for one and the coffee(Americano) was very good. Staff pleasant and attentive. Been before, will be going again.

They brought ot both our meals and they sneakidly put the scraps on first and then the chips on top on both our meals.Iam convinced that they do this o every diner as the table next to ours both plates had bits of shriveled chips and when i took a photo 2 of the girls behind the counter comented on the chips and said another happy customer lol?. when i went to pay i told then about the food and i was not paying for 1 lot of chips and the lad said "i dont blame you" and knocked them off the bill.. wont use again as there overpriced and you come out hungry

Nicely average chip shop. Reasonable portion size, fair pricing. Staff are nice.

Thought I’d sit in and try the food here. Very disappointing…fish was cold in the centre, chips were dry, I can only assume they’d been sat around for while and were poor quality. The only thing hot was the weak coffee. Would not recommend.

Called in for lunch. Big mistake. Sparse, dry and expensive. Fish & chips, gravy & peas £12. Oh and no fork First and last time. 🤮

Tried for the first time and was not disappointed. Service with a smile. Homemade chips, lovely battered fish and proper old-fashioned mushy peas which you don't get very often. Will definitely go back. Price was also good.

We’ve tried all the fish & chip shops in / around Garstang, this is without doubt the best. Last night we had cod, chips, peas & curry. Chips crispy outside & fluffy centre, fish beautifully cooked & great taste with lovely batter. Curry lovely, peas great. Only criticism is that the portions of peas / curry are a bit small! Don’t look anywhere else if you want a chippy tea!

We have just ordered a takeaway and paid over £14 for Chips, sausage, fish, gravy and mushy peas - the portion size of the chips was disgusting, not enough for one !! Chips weren't that great either !

After our day out we called at Garstang for fish and chips , I had pensioners portion my husband had scampi hot delicious food. We sat in cafè quick service .

Visited for takeaway lunch today and was blown away by the quality of the food and the reasonable price. Genuinely one of the best fish and chips I've had for some time. The curry in particular is a highlight, these guys do it properly. Recommended!

Fish was okay although not very hot, chips very poor quality lots of hard bits and barely warm. Disappointed as last visit was better. What happened to consistency ?

Been here a few times now as well as other F&C shops in the area and this place is hands down the best fish and chips in the area if not the whole of the north west. Always top quality fresh fish and chips like your mum used to make.

Very disappointed. Bought 2 chip muffins/barms. Walked 5 minutes to a bench and chips were barely warm. Also uses frozen bread products. Are there any decent chip shops in Lancashire?

I bought haddock, chips and peas just after opening time in the afternoon to take out, and was at first pleased to be served almost immediately. That changed when I got home and discovered chewy fish, dry batter and hard chips. I'm guessing I got lunchtime warmed up? Anyway, it was disappointingly poor. I would have given nul points if it were not for the nice mushy peas and the friendly staff

Always a great place to eat, I take my aunt who is 94 and loves fish and chips, great service and always busy.

The location is easy to find and the environment is bright. But the food was a little too greasy for my liking.

Chips are very nice, however for the price, you don't get many at all. Really disappointed if I'm honest.

Great fish and chips and service, but don’t go in winter as they leave the door open. The last two 3 times I’ve been I shut the front door but a member of staff came and opened it again, so I left. They need an automatic door closer. Shame really I’d love to go through the winter.

Food is well cooked but portions are small, I couldn't tell the difference between the regular and large chips, surely an extra potato won't make much difference to the cost. Still hungry after the meal.

Very disappointed last visit so gave it another chance. Sorry to say no better. Chips cold and tasted of burnt oil. Fish rubbery over cooked and tasted like the chips. Sorry had to chuck them in the bin. Won't be going back.

Not up to the usual standard. Batter stodgy and fish overcooked. Choice of music definitely for staff and not the clientele. Read the room guys.

Went in before visiting the victorian market sat down and looked at menu what a rip off you can get a meal elseware for £1 more than the price of the fish when i asked about the price of the steak puddings and said you can buy a pack of 4 for less i just got "i know but i just work here" wont use again total rip off and nothing special

Everything really nice inside the fish and chip shop, lovely atmosphere, bit cold though. I'm sorry for the poor review, but the food was too oily (a lot of oil collected into a puddle in the corner of the tray), and the large haddock was was very hard in some places and parts of the batter were also hard, so we couldn't eat all of the food. The chips and gravy were lovely, though. Reason for 1 star on food and 2 star overall: too oily, half the fish was overcooked and too hard, and then we both felt sick for a while after eating. Other than that, lovely place and lovely staff.

Nothing wrong with the quality of the food but the quantity is another matter.. small to say the least.

A most unexpected delight for my wife and I. We had pulled off M6 to charge our Nissan Leaf in Booth's car park. Due to their toilets being locked despite the shop being open (very inconsiderate) we used the public conveniences opposite Garstang Fish & Chips. The service we received was excellent and the food was of 5 star quality. The staff ensured tables, chairs and where required the floor were thoroughly cleaned after tables were vacated. Staff were hard working and extremely pleasant to customers.

We were able to book which was great as it's a busy place. Fabulous fish and chips. Well cooked. It was our second visit, and not our last.

Myself and son are local I made a chilli con carne and decided to get some chips from this chippy so a large chips and being greedy ordered a large sausage between us thank god we did as the chips portion was pathetic 😳 did they think we were tourists, probably so I won't be using your very overpriced underwhelming place again there are far better chippy's in garstang that won't take the the urine

Garstang chippy do a "Senior's Special" for £10.50 each. This is served in the dining room and consists of a small portion of fish and chips plus peas, tea and bread. My wife and I used to look forward to having one each. However, on the last occasion we called the fish could have only been described as minute, not small. I understand the concept of paying less for a smaller portion, but this was just tiny. It smacks of greed. Won't be bothering from now on. There are plenty of other eateries in Garstang, including two more chippies.

We sat in to have dinner/tea. Had a few moments to decide on our menu choices and the waitress was with us. We were served a generous and well presented fish n chips with mushy peas/curry source with bread n butter on brown and a cup of tea each. It arrived in 5 minutes. The food was delicious. I’m from Fleetwood and grew up on fresh fish n chips. This was worth the drive. We were hosted brilliantly by the manager, Jonny, and staff. Really enjoyable evening meal. 6 stars!!!

We’ve visited Garstang fish & chips many times, I think it’s the best in the area. Fish & chips this time round, absolutely nothing to fault, fish was excellent with just the right amount of batter for me. I did have mushy peas, which to be honest could have been better, lacking in seasoning, Based on this visit, this will remain our favourite chippy in the area.

Paid this chippy a visit today. We both had fish chips and mushy peas. Can't recommend this place enough. Staff very pleasant. Lovely and clean. Even though they directed us to the wrong bus stop lol. Definitely go again. Highly recommended

Picked up a take away. Fish was cold and chips not much better and we sat down to eat them at home 10 minutes later. Messaged them but ignored.

A great little place in the centre of Garstang town centre, both sit in and take out. Excellent food in a clean friendly restaurant. Provide a senior citizens choice at a reasonable cost. Well worth a visit. , plenty of parking up to 3 hours nearby with EV charge points.

Our first time here, but it will not be the last. Very impressed with the quality and value of our meal. This was only matched by the the cheerfulness and helpfulness of the staff. Very glad that we popped in by chance and we shall certainly revisit next time we are in Garstang. Excellent fish and chips and we are from Blackpool, Harry Ramsden forget it.....!

Ordered fish, chips and mushy peas with a battered jumbo sausage and steak and kidney pudding, chips, peas and gravy and jumbo sausage. Hardly any chips and one of the mushy peas missing even though we had paid for them. Although what we did have was nice

We took out two young grandchildren (aged 1 and 2) and they enjoyed their chicken nuggets and chips while we tucked into tasty fish, chips and peas. The cafe was quite busy but the waitress was really nice with the children and provided high chairs, paper and crayons to keep them occupied before their food arrived. Nice food, good service and somewhere we would return to.

I had the pensioners lunch which was excellent , but above all the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

The nicest fish and chips I've ever had. I'm not normally into fish at all, had a veggie burger on my first visit but after trying some of the fish my husband ordered I've since opted for the same (Haddock). Everything we've tried is 100%. Super quick too.

We went for eat-in lunch after winning 'fish-meal for 2' in a raffle. Fish was superb - batter super light and crisp, fish thick flakey and perfectly cooked (as mentioned in other reviews) Chips were good...but the curry sauce was fabulous - the best I think I have ever tasted! The lady who was serving the food/on the till was also brilliant - friendly,polite and talked to all the customers without being overbearing! Good show Gartang Chippy!

Spotlessly clean, beautifully cooked fish and chips, reasonably priced. As an added bonus, the staff are the most pleasant,friendliest and efficient staff I have come across in a long while. I would have no hesitation in recommending this eatery!

What can you say ? Sat down tried to order 2 Garstang Special ask if i pay the extra to change to Hadock from Cod told that Couldant do that so my wife order the Cod special and i ordered Hadock chips and peas when it arived the Cod was like a large fish finger in size Chips where hard and 50% scraps not ediable the hadock was dry and a little bit bigger than th cod when staff was told full of excuses no apollogies Not be going Back again would expect a lot better at there price There was other tables with the same complaints

Called for Fish and Chips to take out. Quick service and as I walked back to my car I was chased by one of the staff members as the drink I purchased had not been put in the bag. That’s great service. The fish and chips were very tasty

I ha e eaten both in this restaurant and as a a takeaway. This visit left me very disappointed. The fish can only be described as "rubbery" and of a very poor quality. The meal was a large Cod and so not cheap at all. The batter was over cooked and very dark, on previous visits it was light and excellent. Will not be visiting again.

Wonderful Fish and Chips, great staff, clean (Looks like new!) restaurant. Young owner has won fish cook-off competitions. In business over 9 years.

Called tonight for the first time ordered chips +curry in a tray and 2 fish cakes and a portion of peas the chips were cold my wife called them scrapings fish cakes overcooked awful food and overpriced first and last time

we got 2 fish and chips as a take away tonight 23/04/2022 took them home and put them on plate they were swimming in cooking oil/grease and there was more green chips than good ones , used to be decent here but will not be returning again will go back to the Garstang Chippy instead

We decided to have two lunchtime specials on Saturday, sausage chips and a side. At £3.95 each I thought this was a fair price Opted to eat in the cafe. Had a coffee and a tea too. Big Mistake The Bill came to an eye...

We normally have take away, but we had three children with us today so we decided to eat in. The waitress was really pleasant & smiley & obviously enjoyed her job, nice to see! Food was great, generous portions too.

This tends to be our “go to” outlet when we want a Chippy Tea. I had steak & kidney pie, chips & curry, all good although the pie was just a tad dry on crust. Wife had fish & chips which she enjoyed as usual.

Food was fine - nothing exceptional though, but the place is so cold in autumn/winter that I would urge people not to go in. It's cold to the point of being not pleasant - and it's an insult to their paying customers. it's quite desolate...
